I am looking for a good all purpose laptop for my older sister. Her current laptop is a HP G60. Pentium dual core processor with three gigs of ram. It runs Windows Vista. She needs an upgrade. The budget is $500 firm. I can spend less, but no more. It must have lots of storage, ram and a disc drive. These things are not negotiable. As always when I look at buying a new system I always like getting a lot of opinions. Thank you for the help.

Hello everyone, I know this is a long post but I would really appreciate it if you could give me some advice in regards to what happened to me with my sister. Ok so I asked a few people and i still don't know what to do, my christian friend on here (GOD bless him) recommended I ask you guys since you've helped him with his problems. So I finally got accepted into college (at 24 years old) and received a scholarship for the first year based on my poultry science thesis (for Poultry Business Management) and I REALLY want to go...but there's one issue, I have to choose between my education and having to pay the medical bills to my evil, God forsaken sister, that I have to live with. Firstly, this is unfair because when I was sexually abused she disregarded it as me exaggerating and twisting the truth; I was raped by my pastor (now he's in jail, I won't go in depth, it really is triggering) a year ago, and I kept the baby because I believe that every child is a gift from God and deserves a life. One day when I was 22 I met this guy at a club and we got kinda close, and me being a virgin and a child of God, I refrained from having sex with him, but I was promiscuous enough (and I hope God forgives me) to send him nude photos about every day for 6 months. She somehow found out about this (I think she approached the guy after we broke up for reasons that I will not disclose here) and revealed to me that the guy was actually her ex boyfriend, which she NEVER told us about, and then demanded I abort my baby or else she would send the photos to all the colleges I applied for. I thought she was bluffing, and I had God above me so I didn't think she'd do anything about it, BUT last year you know what she showed up with at my baby shower? A hanger, as a shady statement that I should've aborted, but that's NOT all. About a month after I was raped and found out I was pregnant, I was so distraught and depressive that I had xanax prescribed to me to calm me down and help me sleep. One day I was running low on my pills and I POLITELY asked my sister if she could drive to the pharmacy and get my prescription as I was bedridden, and that SNAKE thought she could trick me. Instead of xanax, she put cytotec into the blisters hoping that I would kill my unborn child. SICK WOMAN!. I confronted her a few days later and she told me it must've been a mistake made by the doctor, but that is impossible, no doctor would make such mistake, yet I couldn't accuse her for anything without proof. In the middle of my second trimester, I had severe nausea and I kept throwing up every single morning. I asked my sister POLITELY if she could get me a glass of water. That's it, that's all I wanted, some water! When she got me the drink, I chugged it down because I had just thrown up and was dehydrated, I thought it was just water, it looked like it, but the entire time I knew something was odd because she kept smiling as I drank it. IT WAS VODKA! THAT RAT GAVE A PREGNANT WOMAN VODKA!!! I IMMEDIATELY called 911 and got an ambulance to get me to the hospital, I had severe alcohol poisoning and had to get my stomach pumped and the gynaecologist said that my baby might come out with severe mental disabilities BECAUSE OF HER! But there is MORE, she didn't stop there!! One night towards the end of my pregnancy (and I knew this was the last straw), I was woken up by some strange sounds and the smell of smoke, I opened my eyes to see the crib that I bought for my baby on FIRE! It was soon going to spread to the wooden floor and then the entire room. I got out of bed immediately and tried to run out but the door was LOCKED so the only option I had to survive was to throw myself off the window into the pool (my room is on the second floor). Without a second thought, I jumped for my baby's life and I'm so thankful for the swimming lessons that I got from my mom in Africa 10 years ago, cause I SWAM up and survived without any injuries. I called the firefighters, half of the room was destroyed, and they found my sister's golden pendant at the foot of my bed. I KNEW it was her, yet it wasn't enough to report her. I was stuck, living in the same house with a DEMON!! A month ago, a few days before my expected delivery, she said that I had 7 days to get rid of the child. I was shaking and crying and I was at my lowest point, and I tried everything. It was too late to set up an appointment at the clinic so I tried to do it myself, I was suicidal at that point, until God finally answered my prayers and blessed me. On the 6th day, I got a call from the local hospital informing me that she was in surgery for shattered phalanges because of a car accident. I was SO happy I even cried and thanked God for stopping this monster from RUINING my life, my baby and my future career. God judged those fingers right, and now they can't do the work of Satan! Anyway, the medical bills are piling up and my sister is falling into debt, and the whole family is expecting ME to pay, as our mom died back in Africa and our dad is terminally ill. Everyone is judging me for not supporting my sister even though she has been making my life a living hell. I would heavily appreciate some advice as I am truly lost in a state of confusion right now, but I am certain of one thing, and that is that I am happy that divine justice has prevailed.

Hello! So I want to find a new Home Setup for my sister. She mainly needs it for "Office" work (MS Word, Excel and so on) and occasionally she wants to play "Sims". This should be a "normal" Laptop (no 2in1 or touch) and some kind of docking station with 2 monitors (23"). (Laptop itself has to be under the table) Now I am not very familiar with prebuilt systems, let alone Laptops. She would prefer Dell stuff, since she has good experience with that at work. What would be your suggestions regarding Laptops ?? Maybe also what would you recommend for Monitors (23")? Thank you in advance!

It basically costs about 952 dollars here in Denmark. You cant get some of the cheaper alternatives here in Denmark. Atleast we got free healthcare and free education.

Hi anyone, My sister will be getting her first laptop soon so I said I would find the best one for her, do you mind helping? Thanks It is to be a laptop or all in one. It needs to be under £350.00 Windows 10 (or up-gradable to for free) 1TB of storage (I think a small SSD would be good) "No bright colours" AC Wi-Fi would be good as well as a Ethernet port (1gb) and USB 3. She would like (does not have to be) it to be touchscreen. She would be using it for school work (office, not needed to be included), surfing the web, watching videos and maybe some light gaming. Hi I need help choosing a pair of head phones that would be good for video editing for around $50. It is for my sister who is studying some video editing in high school and would like a pair of headphones for editing. I would like them to be a very neutral sounding for the different frequencies and audio thingys. She was also thinking about getting Sony Studio series headphone so if anyone head them before let me know what you think about them.

How's it going LTT community? So my older sister is getting engaged pretty soon and I've been put in charge of music. I'm looking for some tracks to play in the background whilst everybody sits, talks, eats, etc. so I want something with no lyrics that is primarily instrumental. Wind instruments would be best and basically anything that is soothing and kind of cools the air and sets the mood. It doesn't matter if it is from an unknown artist in fact I would much prefer something from NO NAME X that fits the above criterion. Also our family is predominantly Turkish and the other side is Malaysian so if you know any popular songs from these cultures please name and link below.

Currently doing a build for my sister in a white Bitfenix Prodigy and wanting to use the leftover white corsair sleeved cables in a Silverstone 600W PSU is it possible to switch the connectors on the wires in order for them to fit and have them work? Has anyone done it before? Otherwise I have a short cable kit and the right tools, but sourcing sleeving in NZ at the moment is impossible, no-one is selling it, and the Lutro store in down due to them moving building. Also could I buy a 24 pin ATX Sleeved Extension and mod it to plug straight into the PSU? It would be just like a short cable kit. Anyone with experience in experimenting with this? Regards, Tim

Hi everyone, I'm currently trying to get my sister a very nice present. She currently has a crappy laptop, and she wants an upgrade. Hopefully some of you guys can give me some tips and advice on the build. I originally planned on a budget of $700 USD, but I clearly blew that out of the water so please don't suggest spending any more (unless it's like $5 more). She would mostly use this system for web browsing, listening to music, watching movies and videos, and playing some games occasionally on low settings. Hi there, I am relatively new to the Linus Tech Tips forum but I have a build I would like to hear some thoughts about. After I built my own PC last year and my sister's laptop is on its way out I thought I would put together a PC for her. She is a costume designer/creator who doesn't play games that much (other than Age of Empires or Mythology during small LANs, so an APU will do) She will need to use Photoshop and other Adobe applications. So I wanted to bring her back from the dark-side (Macbook Pro) with a decent but in-expensive PC that is more 'carry sized' than my C70. I have found a group of components that I thought would be suitable for her needs, if there is anything I shouldn't bother with here or something I have forgotten and/or compatibility problems, leave a comment and I will consider your advice. PS I have been struggling to decide whether it is worth putting a fan controller in the 5.25" drive bay for better silence and getting an external DVD Player as I am not sure whether the motherboard supports 3 fans. Hello chaps, my 17 year-old sister has finally finished saving from her job, and she'd like to grab a new PC. Now, let me explain. My sister is NOT a Facebook user. She's a gamer through and through. It started with Terraria and is still going with her current addiction to Battlefield and Saints Row. As I struggle putting together a good budget build, I thought I'd turn it to you lot.
