Hey everyone! Since June, my PC has been randomly shutting down on its own after logging into windows. Some times it rolling restarts, sometimes it’s a BSoD with Video Scheduler Internal Error, sometimes it won’t just start. I have an older PC and I started off replacing all the parts one at a time to see if it’s a faulty hardware issue. I started off with the graphics card, then the memory, then the power supply, and then with the hard drives I have in my older PC to see it’s a windows issue as well. But the issue just continued. I cleaned out my system, reinstalled windows, and it still continued. It got to the point where I couldn’t even access bios on my system after turning it on, so I assumed the motherboard must have died out. I was able to get a new one since it’s still under warranty, and my PC was fixed! At least till recently, when the issue just hit me again. I called Asrock technical support thinking it could be the motherboard they sent me as a replacement. They asked me to get new memory that’s on their supported list on the website, which I did, and it worked for two days till it started shutting down on me again. I called them again, and they asked me to try a different graphics card and power supply, but the issue persisted… I used Restoro to cleaned my PC and fix any other issues since I heard it good for getting rid of BSoD issues, but it didn’t help. I’m getting really tired of not knowing what to do anymore… I’m hoping someone in the community might know what to do? I’ll list down all my PC parts bellow and I hope someone out there can help me because I just want to go back to gaming on my PC and get rid of these hypertension headaches I’ve been getting from trying to figure out what’s wrong with my PC. Thank you in advance for reading this super long post and trying to help me out if you can. I just built my pc yesterday, and since then whenever I have a game, spotify, and discord open, or any multiple applications at a time it shuts down. The lights on my mobo are still on when it shuts down so they mobo is still recieving power, even if it is only enough to power those LEDs. This is the first pc I have built and I am at a loss. I thought it was the cpu at first so I ran a cpu stress test on cinebench for five minutes, and under 100 percent load it did not shut down. I did the same with my gpu on the heaven benchmark and it made it through the entire test. When I only have chrome open it does not shut down, I made sure all of my parts were seated properly, and I am at a loss for the problem. Could it be a faulty power supply? Or not enough power for the computer? I will list my pc specs down below cpu- ryzen 7 3700x gpu- gigabyte RX 5500 XT 4g ram- corsair vengeance pro 16g mobo- asus tuf gaming x570-plus (wi-fi) psu- corsair cx650m 80 plus bronze I also have a 240g m.2 and a 1tb 2.5" ssd my cpu is cooled by 240mm radiator and my case has 3 intake and 2 outtake fans.

Computer Randomly Shuts down - possible PSU issue?
SamuraiSlayer98 posted a topic in Troubleshooting
I have been having issues with a dell optiplex 780 that I've modded to work as a media center and gaming PC. The computer shuts off seemingly at random. The event log in windows says the shutdowns are being requested by the button/lid. I read somewhere online that this can sometimes be linked to a PSU. I opened the psu and found a couple bulged caps. Is it safe to assume the psu is dying?- 2 replies

So, I have a problem with this setup from the day that i got it, It was pre-built from a well known nationally e-store Specs: CPU: Ryzen 5 2600 MB: MSI B450-A-PRO PSU: Segotep H9PLUS+ 520W RAM: ADATA XPG 16GB(2x8GB) GPU: MSI GTX 1060 3GT OC (3GB) OS: Windows 10 PRO The problem: Randomly when Playing games My system will somewhat loose power ; No Video, Audio still playing, Gpu fans 100% and the only way to resume from that is by restarting it from the button. Well, that's the problem, the problem happen i would say quite Randomly. Why? Well, at first i thought that just heavy games will cause that (like GTA 5, Rainbow 6 siege or battlefield 5) But not, i had that problem happen in smaller games ( one i could remember is Among us) Some Differences between the locks? Just 1 time, i was playing Gta 5 and pc locked as usual, restarted it, opened steam, discord (and the programs i use the most) as usual, and locked Again. That was First Time and single time yet. What i saw to cause that problem more often than normal is Overclocking, CPU, RAM, GPU The Most Stupid thing here is that the problem happens randomly, Maybe for a month nothing happens, but one day boom LOCKS What I've Tried: Changing ram slots (between them) Change ram speed [ 2933 ( Advertized + cpu limit ) to 2400(default)] Check Temps ( all good, even put a better cpu cooler) Disabling something that had to do with Ram's sleep state i think Checking Event Viewer ( just the usual Kernel-Power 41) Possible Solutions : Change That Piece of **** Segotep PSU (maybe) If you could help me diagnose, or having some informations about my problem i would be thankful!

Hello everyone, I need some urgent help. Recently I posted that my PC kept cutting out and after a while I thought I had diagnosed the problem with the help of various users on this forum but unfortunately the problem keeps occurring and I don't know why. If you want to see my other post he's a link. To give some up-to-date information and a bit more detail here's basically what's happened so far. A few days ago I upgraded my 5-6 year old PC with a new motherboard, CPU and RAM which to me essentially feels like an entirely new build, but since then my PC has crashed probably about 7-8 times (3 times today (I've been using it a lot more today than in previous days, I don't feel like it's crashing any more frequently today)). The parts I'm using in this 'new build' are the following: AMD Ryzen 7 3800x GIgabyte B550M Aorus Pro M-ATX motherboard 16GB DDR4 Kingston Hyper-X memory 120GB Samsung Evo SSD 1TB Seagate Barracuda HDD AMD RX5700 GPU Ubit WIE7265 Wi-Fi and bluetooth PCIe card (currently not installed and hasn't been for the last 3 crashes) Seasonic S12-550W 80 Plus Bronze PSU Since the last forum post I have checked all the wiring making sure everything is connected properly, removed the Ubit Wi-Fi card as some people had experienced their PC's crashing whilst using it, I've checked temperatures of the CPU, GPU and PSU making sure nothing is over heating causing the system to shut down without any concerns and I have replaced the Seasonic PSU with an old XFX XPS-550W-SEW (I think that's the model number) PSU and I'm still experiencing crashing as though there has been a power cut (even though I know that's definitely not the case). I have also done a clean install of Windows 10 when I moved from my old CPU and motherboard to the new system. I'm now really unsure of what else could be causing this problem. Could a program be causing the PC to instantly power off without any warning? I think on every occasion when the PC has shut down I have had Affinity Designer and Microsoft Edge open but would the computer just cut out like it has been because of a single program? Is it likely to be hardware related? If so what hardware is the likely cause of this sort of issue? The CPU, motherboard and RAM are all completely new parts and I've tried two PSU's now. Basically I'm a bit clueless as to the cause of this issue and after paying £500-600 for all the new parts it's pretty concerning. I would really appreciate some help! Thanks in advance. Cheers, Matt

Hello, I have upgraded Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit to Windows 10 Enterprise 64-bit version 1909 and noticed that restarting or shutting down laptop takes like 4 minutes. It is just stuck at "Restarting..." or "Shutting Down..." screen until it finally does restart or shut down. Everything is fine in "Safe Mode" though... I guess there is some kind of service or running application that delays restarting or shutting down process and I have no idea how to find out which one causes this.

Dear pc enthusiasts, yesterday i had to reinstall windows because ESET broke my last one, and today, with everything working fine, all of the sudden my cpu cooler goes nearly silent for a few minutes and than the noise that can be heard when i power up the pc plays itself, and it has that click, and it goes to "normal". This had never happened before and i really don't have a clue what it could be. It happens sometimes randomly, its like the pc almost shuts its components down, especially noticable on the cpu cooler, and after a few minutes it like boots itself up, but the pc is functioning normally in the meantime. My specs: CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 GPU: GTX 1660 super Gigabyte 3 fans OC MOBO: MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX RAM: Patriot Viper Blackout 2x8gb 3600mhz PSU: Be quiet! Straight Power 11 750w Gold CASE: Cooler Master MB600L HDD: Toshiba P300 2TB SSD: Adata 256gb Every answer and tip is appreciated. Thanks! Edit: I uploaded some images of the event viewer, if this makes sense or helps

Hello, I seem to really need help. A week ago I replaced parts in my pc after my motherboard blew up. I have replaced my motherboard and psu. Everything else works well. But now my pc keeps suddenly shutting down and it won't boot up after I press the power button. To turn it back on I had to unplug the pc from the outlet and let it sit for a while then it boots up just fine. I was getting the CMOS Checksum error at first, after which I replaced the battery with a brand new one. PC still crashes randomly. PC specs: Motherboard - Gigabyte ga-970a-ds3 PSU - Thermaltake 700W GPU - AMD Radeon Sapphire R9 390 CPU - AMD FX 6300 6 core processor Kingston 4gb RAM x 2 HDD 1TB, SSD 120GB Here's some things about what happened and what I've tried to do so far: - After my pc shuts down randomly even while idling, I try to turn the power on, there is no response. literally nothing happens. The mouse and keyboard lights are off. -It's not a power outlet problem, everything else including my monitor works well with it. -It's probably not a power button problem, since the computer shut down abruptly while in use. -The pc shuts down suddenly while I was playing a game with normal settings. It turns off even if I don't use it after turning it on. While running the game there was no significant performance drop whatsoever in the moments right before the shutdown. -Right after it shut down, the power unit/cpu area were not too hot to the touch, in CPU-ID/SpeedFan i checked temperatures and voltages. GPU goes up to 65-70° at max, voltage is normal, CPU stays between 40-55°, NOT overclocked, not overheating. -The components are relatively new. GPU/RAM/HDDS/CPU survived the motherboard's mosfit explosion, they are still functioning fine. - Initionally before this problem appeares I did a stress test on my cpu/gpu/memory. Gpu performed 60fps in the benchmark while it was pretty warm, cpu stess went well for a while, reaching 65°, memory test was also okay. But after the problem accured my pc would crash right in the middle of the stress test on gpu or cpu, I haven't noticed any red flags on tested components that would signal me an overheating issue or overvoltaging. I don't think it has something to do with it. -Pc turns off randomly with both ram sticks. With just 1 of each one of the two too. Ram sticks are functioning -Had some issues before with BIOS, by default it boosts itself and I had to disable the automatic performance boost option because my cpu heat sink was too small to handle it. My cheap fan couldnt keep up with it. By default it puts my voltage to 1.4v that seemed too much. I lowered it and it ran fine for a while. After BIOS update it puts it at 1.2v by default. After making changes I press F10 to save and boot. Most of the time it would just refuse to boot up again right after. By resetting bios (extracting the battery for a while, unplugging the cord) it would turn on again and reset all settings. - All component fans are working properly, they are not are not failing. - My GPU requires x2 8pin cables. Right now it recieves power from 1 main 8pin cable from the psu and 1 mollex adapter. - Updated BIOS to a newer version, saved a backup of the old one, updated all drivers on my machine, removed possibly conflicting drivers via driver software. - In the Event Viewer there's always a CRITICAL error after it shuts down, which says: The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly. Thanks in advance.

PC just shuts down and then reboots a few mins into playing any game. This problem only started happening in the past few months and never happened before. I suspect that its either the graphics card or psu has gone bad. Also it might be a coincidence but almost always the PC shuts off everytime the gpu reaches 60 degrees which shouldn't happen. Please help this is getting very frustrating now. video: https://youtu.be/8u4rLqDzLj0 specs: CPU: i5 3570 GPU: HD 7870 GHz Edition RAM: 8GB Crucial Ballistix Sport XT 1866MHz (1x) Motherboard: ASUS P8H61-I LX R2.0 PSU: Aerocool Integrator 500W

So my ps3 has been going crazy for 3 months, freezing, randon turn-offs, and blank screen. So on topic now... My ps3 has been doing things that drive me crazy, it has been freezing, shutting off ramdomly, and blank screens. I dropped my ps3 twice first one was not that bad... Only a few scratches. Second drop was fatal it made a big scratch and that was when the freezing happend. I then started to realize that the only way to turn on my ps3 was to insert a disc that had no smudges or scratches. I searched up youtube videos on how to fix my ps3 but it still didnt work i need help. But sometimes it would turn on then imediatly turn off 1st image is first drop. 2nd image is second drop.

So lately my computer has randomly been shutting down, usually while I am gaming or working for a few hours, where I get to receive this warning: My first thoughts where that temps where going too high, but I've checked that the cpu floats between 40ºC and 60ºC. And the gpu stays somewhat consistent around the 70ºC I've read that it could be due to voltage settings, but I don't understand much of this and haven't really messed with them if I remember correctly. (I attached an image from asus AI suite to see if it helps) Which leads me to think that the psu needs replacement, but I'd like to be near certain that it really is the psu before spending some money on a new one that might not fix the issue. This issue is driving me nuts, i had this laptop Toshiba Satellite L755 for over 4 years now, it has an Intel Core i7-2670QM processor, Nvidia Geforce GT 525M and 8GB of RAM, i never had any overheating issues or sudden shutdowns, i used to play the infamous game Rust on it without any issues, i traveled somewhere and left my laptop home for like 10 months or so, when i came back and turned it on, it started shutting down, i wasn't running any games, but it kept shutting down, so i formatted it and installed the latest driver updates, and before that i disassembled it and cleaned whatever i could clean, applied new thermal paste after wiping the old one, turned it on, surprise surprise, still shutting down, but mostly when i'm launching a game or doing some heavy work on it with the Turbo Boost enabled, i thought to myself, maybe it's the overheating that's causing this, so i tested the stability of my CPU and GPU using AIDA64, ran the stability test on both of them for 30 minutes, be aware that i disabled my Turbo Boosting before this, the results were incomprehensible, the temperature of the CPU got to around 98-99 Celsius, the GPU was around 85 Celsius, the CPU was throttling pretty hard, but it didn't shutdown, like never, even with that extreme temperature, i concluded as any sane person that the overheating isn't the culprit here, so my second test was to check if my issue is caused by power supply somehow, i went into the bios, looked for something related to the CPU's power consumption and its speed, i set it to minimum, this meant less power consumption and a slower system, really slow, i restarted my laptop, it's slower, but it's not shutting down anymore, and of course i can't run any games because they would lag as hell, so after this i got to the conclusion that maybe the motherboard is the culprit, that when it's under heavy work, meaning more power consumption, something on it fails and triggers a system shutdown. So what do you guys think ? is it a failing motherboard ? a failing hard disk ? i ran some Intel tools and my CPU passed all the tests, my GPU isn't reporting any issues, maybe a failing fan ? i suspect the hard disk. If you guys have any tests i can run that would help me find the cause of my suffering i'd appreciate it, thanks in advance.

But if it boots fine and gets to Windows. After a minute or 2 the computer shuts down. But not standard (as if I were to pull the plug or the power goes out). What could it be? Or how do I fix it? Hey tech people! So for the past 7 months i've had a pc that shuts down randomly when i'm playing any harder to run games (Ark survival evolved, PUBG). Its a complete shutdown, no restart. As if i flip the switch. The issues started back in december when i switched my Motherboard/MEM/CPU. During a attempt to try and fix this with people on this forum back then we "found" the issue to be the PSU, which i replaced and upgraded. Unfortunately this didnt fix the issue, the pc is still crashing. I have updated all drivers and the bios. The replaced parts are sent back to the seller to test for any issues, but none were found. These were the Motherboard/mem/cpu. The current psu is 850w Gold so shouldnt have any issues suplying enough power. If you need anything more to help out, let me know! at this point i really don't know what to do anymore.. My specs are : Motherboard: Asus viii ranger Memory: Corsair vengeance 3200 2x 8gb CPU: Intel i7 6700k GPU: Evga gtx 970 PSU:corsair Rm850x HDD: 2x Samsung hd204ui SSD: 1x Crucial Bx200 480gb (current start up disk) Case: NZXT noctis 450

I posted here a couple weeks ago regarding my MSI GT70 2PC Dominator shutting down when playing demanding games such as Elite Dangerous and Cities Skylines. I thought the issue lied in the broken CPU heatsink mount that's affixed to the motherboard or faulty sensors, but after buying a new motherboard, the problem persists. My only guesses are the problem is either with the CPU or the GPU. Is there any way I can narrow down the problem to one of these two components? Or do you folks have any suggestions as to where else the issue could be appearing from? I've ran diagnostic tests on the RAM, and all is well on that front. Thank you for your time.

For some reason I'm having some inexplicable issue with my Asus Tuff B360 motherboard. Got everything setup and installed just fine but when I shut down at night, the LEDs of everything in the case stay on, the fans whirl (sometime nervewrackingly heavily) and I have to hold the power button to shut down fully which I know can't be good for it. I've tried stuff in the BIOs, reformatting, and so much more and I'm not sure what to do to fix it. or what could be wrong at all for that matter..

Today in the morning when I turned my PC on everything seemed fine until about 20 minutes later my screen went black and it said there was no connection. So I clicked the restart button on my case and it booted up until the screen when it asks for my password, then it turned off again. At this point I looked at my PC and noticed that everything was still running and working except for my GPU. I'm not sure what the problem is as when I googled to see if others had similar issues some said it was the PSU. I built this PC about a year ago and everything was working fine until a couple of weeks ago when I started getting notifications on CAM that my GPU had exceeded 81°C. At first I thought it was that the case was to cramped and the GPU wasnt getting enough air so I bought a new case (Corsair Crystal series 460x) and transferred everything over. I also bought an NZXT Kraken x52 for my CPU. After I checked that everything was good to go I set up a custom fan curve for my GPU so that if it hits 70°C it will ramp up to 100% fan speed. Ok so this seemed to have worked as I had no issues for a week. Then after playing Dragon Quest 11 at the highest settings for about 3 hours I noticed that I had a CAM notification that my GPU had exceeded 84°C. So at this point I decided it was time to water cool my GPU. I decided to not play any games until the water cooling kit arrives. But as I said in the beginning, today my GPU just completely shuts off before I can even log on. I never overclocked my GPU either. Hi everyone, I have the most weird problem. On the first place, I have a Rampage III formula with a i7 950 with a Sentey GPS-1000w psu. Some time ago, the system start to shutting down when I start a 3D app, randomly, sometimes it shutsdown and sometimes doesn't. But on the last week every time I launch a 3D app, games/benchmark, alllways shutsdown. I have a gtx 770, also I try a gtx 560ti, but did the same. At first I thought that was my psu, and I tried another, but works perfect, so I think that was the psu. But when I try my psu on another system it works perfect too, like nothing. So I have a system A with a MB A and PSU A, another system B with a MB B and PSU B. The second system is a I5 4460, with the same gtx 770 I put the PSU A on MB A, doesn't work. I put the PSU B on MB A, works. I put the PSU A on MB B, works. I put the PSU B on MB B, works. I start to think that my PSU and MB have a bad relationship . Thanks in advance.

Ok, so i've been using my graphics card (Gtx 1050Ti Dual from ASUS) and the problem is my pc keeps shutting down when the temps reach 75 Celsius, also i don't know if it's the GPU but idk if it's the GPU or my HDD, like only happen when i'm playing in a long session (or sometimes in one hour but in overwatch, the last time i was in ranked and check gpu temps and it was 71 probably shutted down at 70~75 Celsius.... But i don't think it was the HDD, also when the pc shuts down first freezes and sound weird... and then it shuts down.

Hi all, im having problem with Asus Strix RX470 OC 4GB DDR5. Card is working normally(good fps, normal temps etc.), until it's not working. Card just shuts down, fans stop spinning, I get a message on display "no connection". And i have to press a power button for a few seconds to turn the system off. Everything is fine when i watch youtube videos, surfing the net, movies etc, but problem occurs when playing games. Happened in LoL, Fortnite, Borderlands, PES. (in PES shuts down very fast). When running FurMark or Unigen(Heaven and Superposition) PC and card are working normally, no shutdowns, no stuttering, no problems. So i tested with old and new drivers, flashing new BIOS on card, tried messing with OC software(lowering power, speeding the fans up, etc.), reinstalled Windows(all legal software), tested with other PSU. Tested GPU memory, no problems. Tested graphics card on another rig with new installation of windows and same thing happened, after playing PES for some time, card just shut down. I've read on another forum that low quality PSU can be a problem, low Max Amp on 6pin rail or something like that. But i've tested with 3 differnet PSUs doubt thats the case (maybe it is). I would appriciate any help. Thank you!
