If you use the Epic Games Launcher, you may have noticed that it does not allow you to pin any of your games to start. And if you're like me, you like having access to all your games from your start menu, rather than cluttering up your desktop with shortcuts. Fortunately, there is a pretty easy workaround to this problem that will allow you to manually pin games from the Epic Games Launcher to your start menu. This tutorial will show you the step by step process of doing this. I've included images of each step inside spoilers in case the instructions are confusing. First, you'll need to have a desktop shortcut made for the game. If you don't have one, open the Epic Games launcher and navigate to the library tab. Underneath the game cover art, and to the right of the title, you should see a little three dot icon. Click on this icon, and it should bring up a drop-down menu. From this menu, select "Create a Shortcut". You should do this for all the games you don't already have a desktop shortcut for. Now that you have all the icons on your desktop, you can close out of the Epic Games Launcher. For the next step, you'll need to press Windows + R. This should bring up a small window titled "Run". In this window, type or copy in "shell:start menu", then select "OK". If done correctly, a file explorer window should now appear titled "Start Menu". Now that you have that folder open, simply drag the shortcuts from your desktop into the file explorer window, and you're done! One last thing to note is that after doing this, the games may not appear in your start menu immediately. Sometimes they will show up after a few minutes. However, if you want to speed up the process, restarting your computer will make them appear. Another thing you should know is that if you uninstall the games, the start menu shortcuts won't go away on their own. You will have to go back into the start menu folder using the "shell:start menu" command, and delete the shortcuts yourself. Again, you may have to restart your computer for the icon to disappear from the start menu. Hopefully, this tutorial helped you, and if you have any suggestions to improve it please let me know!

Hi Everyone, Sounds like a weird and niche thing, but I have MANY desktop shortcuts pointing to one hard drive, I've moved those files the shortcut points to, to another drive. Does anyone know of a program that does some kind of find and replace for desktop shortcuts, so I don't have to manually change each one. So where it says "Where the shortcut points to E:\Documents, etc... change it to F:\Documents, etc. It's a like for like file structure to make it easier. I hope that makes sense?

Hi everybody I'm looking to automate a smart home action on my mac, using an homekit compatible power plug + the shortcuts app in Monterey (or Automator if it's better, idk). The idea would be that whenever the Macbook is awake, the trigger activates the smart plug. When the Mac goes to sleep or is turned off, the smart plug shuts off, cutting power. [The smart plug is used with a universal 12V power adapter to power a fan inside the cabinet that ensures that part of the computer setup is cooled). I've looked left right and center into the new Shortcuts app and I honestly couldn't find any way to use the Mac's "awake status" as a trigger for a shortcut. It's simply not possible to do this or I missed something? Is it something that can be done with Automator perhaps? Note: the trigger should be automatic. Right now i simply flick a physical switch near the monitor to start the fan, so having a software button on the mac, use siri or something not automatic would be pointless...if i've got to turn it on myself, i might as well stick with the current setup. Thanks everybody for the help!

So I'm looking into if I can set up key shortcuts (multi presses of outside buttons) on my pixel phone, up to and including a factory reset. Is this even possible and if so, is it possible with the phone locked? Thanks for your time.

Hi all, I've had my pc for a while now and just recently (about a week or so) my desktop applications have been intermittently turning into white sheets for roughly a second, then turning back. I have no idea if it's my desktop refreshing or corrupted files. I've tried restarting my computer and following various google tips but nothing seems to work. On my other pc (which does the same thing) I tried doing a complete system wipe and the problem still persists. Thanks, Alex

99% of the stuff I had installed is gone from the start menu. When I go to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs -- every folder is empty, no shortcuts in any of them. The problem is that nothing is searchable now. When I type in the name of installed programs in search, only web results are shown. Recently I uninstalled a few programs with revo uninstaller, and also did a windows update, not sure which one did this. I tried rebuilding indexing, but it's permastuck on "indexing is paused" regardless of what I do (the number does goes up but slowly,) but I don't think this fixes it. I did a system restore to before I did anything I could think of but still bogged. Any idea how to get programs back to being searchable? Manual one by one is last resort, can't think of anything else. Windows 11

I'm having a problem with my Windows 10. Lately, the little corner icons on my desktop's thumbnails (the ones with the curved arrows that tell you they are shortcuts) change, for whatever reason, into different icons. I had installed Folding@home before that happened so I presumed that might have caused it. I removed it but the problem persisted and, one time, my keyboard layout even went messed up. A good reboot did get rid of the problem but only temporarily. I figured it might've been malware, so I decided to wipe my hard disk drives, using DBAN and reinstall Windows 10. But just today, I experienced the problem yet again! Please see the attached image. So what it actually going on? Has anyone else experienced this issue before? I'll be glad to answer any questions if it helps get to the bottom of it. P.S. Thankfully, I'm not the only one who has this problem. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/the-shortcut-arrow-on-my-shortcut-has-changed-to/e7760508-a44b-412a-9e03-85b52ec35a22

I am working on an idea and have some questions for you guys. I hope this discussion is welcome. How many keyboard shortcuts do you remember when using a creative software (i.e. photoshop, gimp, illustrator, ableton, after effects, etc.)? How long does it take you to remember a new shortcut? Would you use more shortcuts if they were more obvious? Thanks for any responses!

windows A very frustrating issue with windows search
DigitalDoofus posted a topic in Troubleshooting
So this issue began a couple days ago when my windows search (windows key plus name of program) began to refuse to show results for some programs and work for others, this is evident in the screenshots below. As I am the kind of person who likes to keep my desktop clean this is causing me alot of issues, Some of the windows programs refuse to launch now. It's gotten to a point that i have to use windows key + R to run a majority of the programs. Some programs will run like Dirt Rally, Whilst some wont show up at all like Rakuen Both are steam games and both have shortcuts in the same place. This is very frustrating and any help is appreciated as this is causing me more trouble than it may seem. Screenshot guide 1. showing a shortcut refusing to show up at all 2. Shortcut showing up but refuses to run (no matter how many times I shout or spam enter) List of things I've tried Powershell Stuff 1. sfc /scannow 2. DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /Restore Health 3. Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"} Task Manager stuff 1. Restarted Cortana Process 2. Restarted search progress File manager stuff 1. Attempted to name file C:\Username\Appdata\Local\Microsoft\Windows\UserClass.dat to UserClassdat.old (its open in system tried this through a command line same result) 2. Uninstalled all antivirus software 3. Rebuilt the ENTIRE index (this took ages) Basic stuff 1. Restarted PC 2. Checked for updates 3. Sacrifice a goat to satan None of these have worked and I'm not up to the idea of resetting windows on my laptop for what is the 7th time now. -

I hope LTT takes a look at iOS 13 soon, and then maybe this issue will get some traction in tech media because I find it maddening. iOS has never had a native solution to simply schedule "Do not Disturb" mode at various times. You can set one schedule that will occur at the same time every day. Have classes at different times on different days? Too bad. My Nokia from 2007 had more functionality. With Automation within the Shortcuts app that is now native to iOS, there was a glimmer of hope this would be corrected. But, no. If you set up a "Script" in "Automations" to turn on Do Not Disturb mode at a certain time, all that happens is a notification shows up from the shortcuts app that will turn on Do Not Disturb if you select it; the phone will ring as normal if there is no input. Location-based triggers do the same thing. That simply isn't automation.

I installed the latest public beta 6(from iOS 12.3)for iPad os on my 9.7 in 6th gen and iPad Air 3 and noticed that the shortcuts app was no longer available, on checking in the App Store it does not appear, and when I was the app page on safari, it said that this app contains features not available on your device, so what’s going on have shortcuts gone for everyone on ipados?

I've been looking for a program that I can use to launch programs quickly bt most of the programs use 3 key combination (ctrl + alt + key) to launch which is ok bt its still too many keys. I was wondering if I could use the fn key as a modifier that is available on most keyboards and create 2 key combination to launch programs. I have searched for similar tool bt havent found one , also Is it possible to do it autohotkey????

So i've recently been adjusting my current workflow in Adobe Premiere and i noticed that two shortcuts seem to act the exact same. Shift+Delete and Alt+Backspace Both of them ripple delete the selected clips in the timeline panel, and so far I haven't found out if either one of them has another specific use that I'm missing out on. If you know the answer please let me know. Other wise it just seems like a huge waste of a shortcut

So - when gaming and using my computer casually, I really like the feel of a TenKeyless keyboard (for ergonomic reasons, mainly mouse position). I mostly use a Corsair K65 Lux RGB and I'm super happy with it. However, when working with audio and music production, I need the Numpad (I also have the Logitech G610 and swap between the two). I've tried working without the numpad but there's just so many shortcuts I'm not able to use without one. So I found a wireless numpad for around 5$ in a general electronics shop, and it works great! Except... the keys are aweful. 1) Are there any good numpad only keyboards out there? While researching, I found the Ducky Pocket RGB numpad. It's cool that it has RGB backlighting and quality switches, but - it's wired and I think I have enough wires on my desk currently. 2) So - do you know of any wireless numpad keyboard with quality switches? Doesn't have to be RGB, nor cherry mx switches, just quality mechanical switches that won't make me feel like dying when typing. Or is the Ducky keyboard my best option? 3) Or should I be looking at something like the Elgato StreamDeck? Considering this LTT video: I guess I'm kind of looking for the ASUS Claymore. That way I would be able to keep the Numpad on, just in a much more ergonomic place. However, I'm not looking to spend almost 200$ on my fourth fifth keyboard in a year (I have another rig and a mac too).

So, when you open a new tab in Chrome there's usually 8 thumbnails for websites you've been visiting a lot lately. I accidentally deleted one of them and I don't know how to get it back.

Greetings. Today, I installed a bunch of Steam apps and games, including Skyrim, Morrowind, Sony SoundForge, and a few others. However, every time I reboot, the shortcuts shift position to the left column on my desktop, which is different from what I assigned them to. Strangely enough, this only affects the programs I installed today, and is not a problem with programs like Sony Movie Studio Platinum 13, which I installed months ago. Does anyone know of a possible fix to the problem? I'm running Windows 8.1. Regards, Aereldor.

I got a new laptop recently Dell - Inspiron 15.6" Touch-Screen Laptop - Intel Core i5 - 6GB - 1TB Hard Drive - Matte silver on sale the thing is it has touchscreen I know how to turn it off by going into device manager then disabling it by right clicking but I've actually like the touchscreen when just browsing the web or doing something casual. The problem is when I'm getting advice from people when working in Photoshop they like to point at the screen and move stuff around by accident also I have a friend who thinks it's funny to try to turn of my laptop via touchscreen and other minor annoyances have made me wish there was a quick way to toggle it on and off Key commands would work the best if there's a program that could add that or if there's a program that could help toggle it via taskbar or something I just don't want to go deep into my setting every time I want to turn it on or off I'm running Windows 10 Any suggestions would be great
