Hi. I've been in the market for a legit finger print sensor to add to my laptop that is not equipped in order to allow windows hello. There are miriads of USB knobs and doodads that does exactly this but none is positively recommended and most stop working after a few weeks from buyer reviews. Does anyone know of one that works? I mainly use windows, so no applewatch login tricks. Thanks.

Hello everyone! Since months I have a problem that is driving me absolutely crazy. At this point I lost almost all hope of fixing it. Every time I wake up my PC from sleep the 2 system fans run with full speed and will do until I restart the machine. I have a total of 4 fans mounted, 2 for my CPU cooling in front and one system fan on the top and one in the back. Every time it happens it is also associated with TMPIN2 to be -54C (which is what is causing them to spin at 100%, I believe). There are no exceptions - it happens every time. I have flashed BIOS twice (from F2 version to F6 and then F7), changed every low-power state, turned off OC completely, restored default BIOS settings. Tried using either DC or PMW to steer fans. Tried different fans (currently I use beQuiet SilentWings 3 - HiSpeed, but I also tried with standard NZXT fans. I tried modifying the fan curves so only 80C or more would cause them to go above 50% I used different Windows programs to control fans. Every thing has failed. My gut tells me that there should be a proper setting in BIOS or Windows, but in my mind I honestly tried everything I could - anything I could find on Google for many days plus all my ideas. I am at the point of looking forward to buy new mobo/CPU just to get rid of that problem. Multiple sleep and waking up during the day is simply how I use my machine. If someone is good enough to solve this, I will be very, very impressed and extremely grateful. Thank you!

mouse Mouse sensitivity randomly speeding up and slowing down, also inaccurate
Guest posted a topic in Peripherals
Hello everyone! I’ve got a weird issue with my new mouse. I’ve recently bought a wired gaming mouse, when I received it and plugged it into my old laptop (more on that below) it worked as intended - nothing wrong at all. But when I plugged it into my new PC it’s inaccurate and the sensitivity is all over the place (again, more on that below). So I’ve been waiting for my PC parts - who would have thought... - to arrive and while I’m waiting, I ordered a new keyboard and mouse. Surprisingly, my 3070 arrived and I put it all together - so I plugged the mouse into my old laptop that I’ve been using while waiting for the parts and everything was normal - nothing out of the ordinary. But when I plugged the mouse into my PC (at this point, it’s been fully setup for about a week) the cursor seems to be inaccurate when moving it - and the sensitivity randomly speeds up and slows down. I had its software downloaded and the drivers are all up to date. Also, when I plug it back in to my laptop, it’s back to normal - could it be a software issue? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance! -
I dropped water in an HP envy x360 laptop. After drying it, it opened and everything was almost ok. Windows is running and all BUT it is very slow (the CPU clock is kept at the minimum) , the fans are running at 99%, I cant get a reading on the battery level AND the battery temperature showed in the BIOS is 69 thousand degrees C! I assumed that all those problem are related to the laptop panicking and thinking it is going to catch on fire. I replaced the battery and nothing changed. Water must have shorted a part of the motherboard and is now not able to read information given by the battery. I thought of asking the BIOS to not take into account the battery temperature or overwriting it with a 30 degrees C value but I can't find any info on that online. What are the solutions? Do you have any ideas? Edit 1: it has been fully disassemble, dried and the corrosion have been cleaned with alcohol (there was corrosion on the battery connector). I think I have done everything on the hardware part except replace the motherboard. So I am searching more for a software solution.

I was playing with some AI video upscaling and I noticed my GPU was getting toasty (85c and 100c+ junction) so I decided I would bump up the fan speed, Upon setting the speed to 100% my fans stopped entirely and the temps began rising fast (hit 91c and 112c junction) so I had to stop the upscaler and lost 90min of work unfortunately. Now I cant seem to get the fans to run past 50% or they just stop and the RPM sensor is reading seemingly random values that are WAY outside the normal range with hwinfo showing MIN 209RPM up to a MAX 61,325RPM. No other issues such as artifacts, glitches or strange noises and the system hasn't crashed either. Naturally I gave her the old turn it off and then on again but to no avail, Everything should be up to date as far as software goes but I haven't messed with BIOS recently as until today I hadn't noticed any problems. I've looked around via google and cant seem to find any info pertaining to this type of issue outside of "try a different card" and "DDU and fresh install". Before I dive into countless hours of troubleshooting I figured I would ask the collective, is this possible GPU damage or are these the death throws of dying fans? I've used this card for mining in the past so the fans have seen ALOT of 100% use and she has been plenty warm in the past too, the cooler/DRAM configuration leaves a lot to be desired with at least 2 chips only getting maybe 50% heatsink coverage and the other half just gets the thermal pad and open air, that being said I have upgraded the thermal pads to thermalright extreme odyssey and made sure that each chip got 100% pad coverage even if the cooler wasn't going too. I've dealt with dead fans on plenty of other cards but I don't recall ever seeing the RPM sensor read anything THIS crazy because of it, usually just trying to ramp up then stalling or not even running. I've taken screenshots of hwinfo which show you my system specs and sensor info hope its enough. Anything helps, Thanks in advance.

I wonder if it's possible to set it up (preferably without any 3rd party software), so that Rotation lock (screen rotation) is set to ON when my keyboard is attached (it's a 2in1) so that the sensor doesn't waste battery while I'm on a desk for example, and when I detatch the keyboard, automatically have the Rotation lock set to OFF (so that my screen would rotate when tilted). This is inspired by my partially broken screen where the touch wouldn't work and I cannot interact with my left bottom corner (start button and everything around it). If anyone knows how to make this happen, please let me know! Thanks in advance! :) P.S. currently if rotation lock isn't off from my last sesion, I can't type in my password to unlock the screen.

Hey, I bought a AMD Duron 600mhz yesterday and received it in the mail today. However, my bios sees it as a AMD Duron 800mhz and the temp shows up as 0c. Before this I had a AMD Sempron 3000+ (Obviously faster etc but I don't need the speed ) Because it shows up incorrectly and has a wrong Celsius value, the fans ramp up to 100% the whole time. Oddly enough, inside the BIOS the fans are at an OK speed (Still a bit fast but ok). After leaving the BIOS and even trying to boot to a floppy, the fans go to 100%. My other CPU, the sempron, works just fine with the correct temps etc and the fan is very quiet. Even when inside Windows.. My motherboard is a7v8x-la, it has the correct socket and this Duron CPU is older than the one I had in it before. It should work just fine and is supported. I already tried updating the bios to the latest version with nothing changing. (3.15) Do you have any idea or is this cpu just.. dead? It works fine but the fans are wayyyyyyyyy too loud.. Some information to sum it up: a7v8x-la Mobo AMD duron 600 CPU (yes 600 not 800 even though it says it’s 800, the numbers on the cpu say 600) I tried 2 psu, 135 watt and 400 watt BIOS version 3.15 The AMD sempron 3000+ works normal and shows 49c. If I use fanspeed to check the temps of the duron, it says 29c and -48c. Changing the fan speeds from there doesn’t work, they’ll go down as you change it but go back to 100% a second later. core temp shows 0c (It’s a single core cpu btw) I cleaned everything well and it’s not the first time I put a PC together. (I had to assemble PC’s many many times for my internships including servers etc haha and repair multiple pcs/laptops on the daily) So I have my doubts that I put something in wrongly hehe If you have any idea, let me know if not, I will contact the seller and hit him up. I bought it at some store What I have tried; Clearing cmos, default bios settings, Cleaning the CPU very well since you can overclock it with a pencil(So I have heard), Different psu, reseating it, updating the bios, reinstalling windows xp (I had to else I couldn’t install the bios since I was stuck in an activation loop and yes I tried to extend the 30day trial a few times but it stopped working) and lastly just cleaning it and other stuff some more so it’s dust free. (With care)

Hi,i bought this mouse at the end of December. At first i was really excited to get a good mouse, but then i started to find some flaws. The sensor can sometimes spin out(not just me) This video demostrates the problem right here! Also the scroll wheel started to make a whine noise like a month after, it's really annoying, Then Mouse5 key started to wear out as well, makes a clicking noise, not the one it should make.-_- Mouse4 still works fine. I use my peripherals like they should be in a human way, when i rage out i don't even hit the mice and it keeps wearing out! Anyway, I can't get a refund on this mouse as well, because it was bought in Germany and i don't live there. I do not know other peoples experiences with this mouse, except a friend of mine who is Global Elite in CS:GO and says that the sensor can sometimes act weirdly, not buying a Steelseries mouse for a while now,i probably had a bad unit, but still the sensor issue is on every single Rival out there. Have you used this mouse before, experiences? I added sound recordings of the noises, mouse4 works like it should. MWheel.m4a Mouse4.m4a Mouse5.m4a

I have a Corsair M65 RGB. I was just using it like any other day. I picked it up to reposition it and when I put it back down it didn't work. I didn't exactly do it gently but I didn't smack it onto the mouse pad either. The RGB lighting still works but the mouse wont move on the screen. If I move it rapidly around on the mouse pad it moves a tiny bit, but not very smooth at all. There is no light in the sensor, but I can't remember if there was before. I'm pretty sure its a laser sensor. Clicking still works. What I've tried: Different USB ports Different surface Different computer

Been trying to find a piece of software that reads out all the sensor data from my PC, along the lines of HWmonitor, but instead of only saving max and min values, graphs over time. I've been trying to diagnose stuttering experienced during heavy fire in Arma or other intense moments in games. Hoping you guys have some suggestions, thanks!

Hi, i am currently using a wired G403 using the 3366 optical sensor but i am thinking of switching to the Razer Mamba for the RGB, adjustable click force and wireless. I am not sure if the laser sensor is good enough to flawlessly run at 400 DPI for semi competitive gaming.

Hey guy's ! i just yesterday bought this pc and i sat for a long time in order to put it together , The specs are : z270 m3 msi i7 7700k 16 GB hyperx savage 850 Evo 500GB 750W corsair rm Asus rog strix 1070 gtx h100i v2 6 ML corsair fans Now i have the cooling system going this way : 240 mm radiator in the front(INTAKE) , 2x 140mm fans on top(INTAKE) , 1x 120mm fan at the back (EXHAUST) Now as far as i'm concerned the positive air pressure i usually have in my case should be fine. but i found that while i do simple tasks my fans would just go crazy ( I have tried adjusting my fan curves through msi's bios a few times but it never seemed to work properly all together..) now one thing i have to say is that while using HWmonitor to watch the temperatures real time , i noticed that i might go into a game , my fans would start going crazy and my cpu's temp would be like 67 degrees or so , and then as soon as i'd stop playing , in less than a few seconds it would drop down 30 degress back to 37 approx which is what my idle is about rn. (I tested this on rainbow six and a bit of GTA so far) i'm not entirely sure whats pushing everything so hard so i though to myself if you guys could give me some advice .. I thought about trying to run a cpu benchmark but i dont know a really good free CPU stress test out there.. so if you guys can give me a hand in setting these fan curves and getting the temperatures right or maybe something else is wrong that the temperature changes so fast on my sensors.. thank you all in advance for trying to help!

Hey, I'm in the process of creating a DIY smart mirror, it's almost done. Unfortunately my PI Zero died on me so I thought I may as well get PI 3 and wanted it so that when I walk up to the mirror the OS wakes up from sleep as the mirror is powered by an online website called "DAKboard" (goes in full screen when I press F11). I said USB and as I don't want to risk soldering and mess anything up. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hello! This is my issue: few weeks ago I have noticed that after I wake up a PC that was asleep for approximately more than 1 hour one of my fans (SYS_FAN_1) spins at maximum speed which makes it a little annoying and loud. I first thought it is a faulty fan (although all 4 of my fans ar beQuiet PMW Hi-Speed Silentw Wings 3), but I have changed the fan and the same happens. yesterday I have discover by using HWMonitor that when this issue happens the TMPIN shows exaclty -54C, which of course is wrong, causing the fan to spin at 100%. I thought to myself, "ok, not a big deal, there are other sensors and although I can I will not return the motherboard (Gigabyte GA-Z270X-Gaming K5) cause all the time and energy and thermal paste is just not worth it - too much trouble". This fan was the only one based on System 1 in BIOS so I thought that I will just change that in order for the mobo to use different sensor. Unfortunately it did not help. I tried basing the fan on System 1 and System 2, PCIx16 and one other setting, I didn't try the CPU yet, but I wanted the fan to react more or less on the temp in the case (since it is a rear fun) rather than on my processor which probably will make it act a little crazy. I did update BIOS to the newest version, but that was long before this issues started to happen. Any thoughts, ideas? I would really appreciate any help since this is driving me a little crazy already.

Hello all, lately I have been thinking of putting in a "modern" proximity switch in my car. I am wanting it to be like a kill switch. When I enter the car, the switch will activate. When I'm out of the car, the switch will turn off killing the car. My idea is to use it as anti-theft. Does anyone have an idea with may a finger print, prox card, or something like the keyless entry? It's an older car so it should be simple to wire it. But I'm not sure what parts I am gonna need. Thanks

So i bought a new PC, and everything work fine except for one thing, my H100i RGB Platinum doesnt give me the real temps of my CPU when benchmarking i go around 60 to 65 but Corsair Icue does not go above 28 ... for now im just using my 2080ti sensor to make the fan ramp up and i do not exceed 60°C on My i9-9900k, but i would still like to ve able to use my CPU temps because its not optimized, does anyone have an idea of why it doesnt sense right ?? Thanks !!

I just built my first gaming pc since ~2007 (I use a Mac / Xbox normally) and a lot has changed. my motherboard (Asus X570-E) came with a thermistor temp sensor but most of the hardware already has built in temp sensors, so I thought it might be useful to have this one measuring the temp of the incoming ambient air. the cable is only like 6-8” long and there weren’t a lot of mounting options so I mounted it in one of the cable channels behind the bottom intake fan of a Phanteks Evolv X (see pic). Q: This may be a really dumb question, but does anyone know for sure that the placement won’t affect the readings? my instinct is that the temp is the temp and whether the air is moving or not doesn’t make a difference to a sensor but I wanted to make sure and didn’t find anything searching google/YouTube. thanks! P.S. now that I see that picture it’s bugging me that the logo is sideways. Come on Phanteks!

Hey! So this is a bit random and I'm not sure if this is even the right forum for the topic but here we go: I wanted to replace my old G703 mouse with a new one, because the scroll wheel is bugged in wireless mode (randomly scrolls in the wrong direction when using the scroll wheel). I got the G Pro Wireless and the MX Master 3 and I can't decide which to choose. The Master 3 is a lot easier on my wrist ergonomically and is easier on my wrist, but it's also a lot heavier. My biggest problem is that the cursor just feels a lot slower and mushy somehow. This is where the G Pro WIreless comes in: It's a lot lighter and the cursor just feels so much quicker and more accurate. Having used the Master 3 though, I really notice more strain on my wrist when using it. My question here now: Would it be possible to simply switch the sensors on the mice, so I could use the Master 3 with the G Pro Wireless's sensor, as it just seems like an absolutely perfect combination. I don't really have any experience at all with modding, so if anyone knows how to make this work please help! I would'nt even mind paying you for it ^.^
