I believe I was here maybe 5-8 months ago with a similar issue. Forgive me if this is in the wrong spot or tagged wrong. With games asking for secure boot enabled, I enabled it in my bios but it made my boot drive unusable without using CSM compatibility mode enabled. But that limits some features like virtualization. I have a asus rog strix b550 motherborard the boot drive is an nvme m.2 even after updating the bios it still doesn’t work. And even after turning off secure boot it still needs compatibility mode to see the drive. im hoping someone here has had a similar issue or knows how to fix this. My last thought after trying what I could is get a new boot drive, with a fresh windows install with the bios settings as I would like them, since it might not courrupt the boot record of a fresh device that only knows secure boot. But then I don’t know if I could even see the old drive without compatibility mode.

Sorry for making an account just for this, I figured someone here would know and HP is out of hours so won't currently help me, not that they're useful anyway. I was trying to get my workstation to boot into BIOS. I tried F10, booting through recovery and CMD but none worked. I pressed the CMOS button assuming this would revert BIOS settings and let me boot into it. I turned the machine back on, pressed F10 and was shown a "Secure Boot" screen. It reads "A request has been made to change this system's secure boot configuration. which may affect the secure boot keys and/or may disable secure boot." "Please type in and enter the below number for authorization" My problem is that each time I've booted I've typed the number and pressed enter, nothing has happened. I've tried in both front and rear IO USB ports and don't have a backup keyboard but I know the keyboard is working. A few HP posts with no solutions can be found below for the issue and some context, I'm not certain how it's happened. https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Boot-and-Lockup/Stuck-on-secure-boot-authorization-number-during-boot/td-p/6026803 https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Boot-and-Lockup/Stuck-on-secure-boot-screen/td-p/6893555 https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Boot-and-Lockup/Stuck-on-secure-boot-authorization-number-during-boot-using/td-p/6437504 https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Unanswered-Topics-Notebook/Secure-boot-issue/td-p/7998868 Attached and below is a photo of my monitor. I don't know how to get past this, didn't request it in the first place and now can't boot without being shown this screen meaning I can't use my PC at all. Any solutions would be incredibly welcomed. Thanks so much.

Hello fine LLT forum people. I'm slowly but surely losing my mind. Whenever I enable secure boot ALL my USB ports shut off after leaving BIOS. I've tried: everything from updating drivers and bios to verifying that all my drivers are signed. reinstalling Win11 (although not a clean install, needed to keep programs and files). verifying that my drives are using GPT. resetting the TPM, enabling/disabling USB legacy support, tried clearing cmos and made doubly sure my BIOS is in UEFI mode. unplugging everything from my PC before booting and re-plugging everything after the login screen came up deleting the drivers and let windows reinstall the default drivers for my devices I tried following every troubleshooting step I could find but so far no luck. I was hoping someone here might have any idea what else I can try. System Info: OS: WIN 11 CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 MOBO: B450 TOMAHAWK MAX can add rest if needed

I am currently trying to upgrade my system, ASRock B450M Pro4-F, to Windows 11 and have gone through all the steps (AMD fTPM Switch enabled, Security Device Support enabled, CSM disabled...etc.) and even though the BIOS (v1.6) is showing as enabled the Windows PC Health Check keeps showing that Secure Boot as not being "Supported". Is that an issue with the Firmware not being updated? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! Dave

hi friends, i'm trying to enable secure boot on my pc but it shows as unsupported even though my bios mode is on UEFI and always been on UEFI as far as i know, i've tried almost everything i found on google, reddit and other forums, hopefully i can get some help here to see if this issue has a solution or should i just give up on this as you can see, there is no secure boot option in any of the tabs, in the other tabs i won't find anything helpful either, hope to hear from you soon and thanks in advance

Spec: - CPU: Intel i5 12600KF - Motherboard: Gigabyte Z690 Gaming X DDR4 - Ram: Corsair 2x16 GB DDR4 - GPU: Gtx 1060 - Storage: Samsung EVO 850 250GB (It's MBR) Please need help. My PC won't go thorugh POST. Previously, Bios is working and setting CMS to Legacy enables me to boot to Windows 10. So I was trying to upgrade to windows 11 and I need to set secure boot for it. So I was following a video on setting Platform Key in the bios, disable CMS and Save changes and exit. (My whole purpose is to enable secure boot) But after that my PC won't go through POST. And I'm stuck with no solutions yet at the moment. I've tried resetting CMOS and jumper many times. but it didn't work. Motherboard shows that the beep stucks at VGA red light

Hello, ive come to you with my problem. I would like to upgrade my pc to win11, even though it probably isnt very optimalized or whatnot, i bought a new pc in the summer of this year so it came as a shock i cant upgrade right away, i cant seem to enable secure boot, in my bios it says its enabled, in system information it is Unsupported. Is there a way to support it? I should have all the drivers. I honestly can think of anything else. My MB is Asus B550M and CPU is R7 3800X so i think there shouldnt be a problem, even though my GPU is still a 750ti i hope that isnt the reason. Thanks for your tips on how to solve this problem. Hi everyone, as you all know turning TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot on is necessary to install Windows 11. Although turning them both on, Windows Update still has the "This PC doesn't currently meet the minimum requirements to run Windows 11." warning. There is no problem when I check PC Health Check application. I checked whether I turned on TPM 2.0 or not correctly by using "tpm.msc" command and I can see that the Specification Version is 2.0, I also checked System Information if Secure Boot is on or off and it is on as well. I own a Gigabyte H410M-H motherboard with an Intel i3-10100F processor. My current Windows version is Windows 10 21H2 Version 10.0.19044 Build 19044. I'm expecting ideas and solutions from you.

Hello everyone! I am getting ready to upgrade my Ryzen 7 3700X to a Ryzen 7 5800X on my Asus X570 ROG Crosshair VIII Hero Wi-Fi motherboard. I had the firmware TPM 2.0 enabled on the 3700X, but I already turned it off to prepare for the swap. I also disabled bitlocker on my C: drive just to make sure there wasn't any issues on that end (using Win10 atm). I want to know if it is necessary (or just easier) to disable Secure Boot as well before upgrading? The only changes I am making is to put the new 5800X in and install a waterblock on my RTX 3080 to complete my loop. I looked at a couple older threads with similar questions, but couldn't find a clear answer. Thanks in advance for the help!

So I want to install Windows 11 on my desktop but I’ve been having some issues with the installation requirements. It tells me I need to enable secure boot, but in order to enable secure boot I need to be in UEFI mode. The problem is when I switch from “Legacy + UEFI” to “UEFI” it will not boot into windows. I’m not exactly sure what to do from here because I guess doing what they want me to do won’t actually work. Any assistance here would be appreciated. So, I've recently started to look at windows 11 more and more and realised I don't have my secure boot enabled (I've enabled TPM 2.0 module if someone's interested) What I'm trying to ask is How do I turn it on, I have a: Gigabyte Z370 HD3 motheboard F5 version of BIOS The problem is I can't find any tutorial on this, It shows I have a legacy BIOS in system information and I have no idea where do I turn on the EUFI one, or I just simply can't. Please help, thank you for your replies. Also, I've tried one thing, turning on the secure boot thourgh BIOS, but it said I couldn't do it so I turned off my PC and turned on again, after that BIOS instantly showed on my SECOND monitor and I still couldn't turn it on, the situation repeated after I didn't turn off the secure boot in BIOS, I don't know what's the problem... Please help me again. My specs: MSI GTX 1050 TI Gaming X Intel i5-8400 Gigabyte Z370 HD3 Motherboard

So this isn't technically a desperate cry for help. Basically I was preparing my PC for Windows 11, activating TPM and Secure Boot. To get Secure Boot to work I had to disable CSM and then convert my boot drive from MBR to GPT. That all went well but now whenever I turn on my computer it first boots into self repair and I have to select "continue to Windows 10". It boots fine after that but it's a bit of a hassle to do every time. Do I re-enable CSM or something? Or is there something else I'm missing?

Two days ago I had updated my pc to Windows 11, I meet every spec, so I figured it wouldn't hurt (I am running an i5-10400f with 16GB DDR4 paired with an RX 580). Everything went smoothly until I tried to launch certain games, namely Valorant. It prompted me with an error message upon booting the game, "This build of Vanguard requires TPM version 2/0 and secure boot to be enabled in order to play." I had enabled TPM 2.0 the day of the Windows 11 release, in preparation for my potential upgrade (I wanted to wait for the initial bugs to be fixed before installing it myself), but I hadn't seen anything mentioning secure boot as being required. I spent an hour or two trying to enable secure boot, but to no avail. The bios on my motherboard (a Gigabyte B460 HD3) didn't seem to want to save my changes, as the instructions in several videos which I had seen said that I had do disable CSM Support, save changes & restart, then enable secure boot. I followed the instructions, but the changes never saved, so I flashed my bios with the latest version, but that didn't work either so I reverted back to Windows 11 and figured I would upgrade at a later point. Last night my computer had a Windows update to do. It decided to take me back to Windows 11. I think that it would be best for me to have stayed on Windows 10, but my computer seems not to like that idea. If anyone knows a fix for this issue any help would be appreciated.

I have recently attempted to turn on secure boot to be able to play Val, but whenever CSM is disabled, I cannot access the BIOS menu. I can access it again after resetting BIOS through the CMOS battery, but then CSM is reenabled. Is there any way to fix this? My pc build is: - Gigabyte Z390 UD - Intel i5 9600KF - Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 3200 - NVIDIA RTX 2060 Super, MSI Twin Frozr 7 - Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB NVMe SSD - Samsung 860 EVO 1TB SATA SSD - A Hitachi TV made around 2015, I don’t know the exact model/year. This TV is also connected directly to my GPU through an HDMI to HDMI cable, and I do not have a DP cable to try. I have tried to use a different TV, but that one doesn’t work either.

So I've been running Windows 11 for months now without an issue, all of a sudden today I did a standard reboot and windows would no longer boot. After messing around for hours trying to figure it out, I found that turning off secure boot and turning on csm fixed the problem. It doesn't make sense, first of all I thought windows 11 is supposed to need secure boot to run. Second, I've had secure boot enabled and csm disabled the whole time I've been running Windows 11, Why all of a sudden did it change? Also if It will run this way, should I just not worry about it? Or should I expect to have issues with it setup this way? Thanks in advance for you time!

I've spent so many hours this past week and can't get any solution to work and convert my hdd to GPT so I upgrade to windows 11. I have met every other requirement to upgrade except for secure boot. I reached out to my motherboards manufacturer(ASUS) to enable secure boot and found that to do that, I need my hdd to be in GPT instead of MBR. I've tried a bunch of different things to try to accomplish this and I can't even delete my volumes or partitions on my hdd to convert it. I'm really bad with OS and storage stuff and worried I am going to accidentally delete everything. I really appreciate any help I can get. Also I will list my pc specs here and also attach a few screenshots: Ryzen 7 5800x 16gb Trident Z RAM 3000mHz Asus Prime b450m-a motherboard rtx 3070 founders edition EVGA 750W Gold PSU 2 TB HDD (the one with OS on it) (disk 1) 225 gb 2.5in SSD (disk 0) 1 TB Samsung 970 EVO m.2 (disk 2) I think that's everything and I'm willing to try anything to get this working. Much Love <3

After i checked the requirement to support for windows 11, I'm thinking to prepare for Windows 11 update. so I've decided to enabled TPM 2.0 for my PC, but it start to behave weirdly after i enabled TPM from the bios. My motherboard MSI z370 gaming plus. 1. Since I enabled TPM 2.0 it started to double post but when I start the pc. The sequence like below. (Note: After it successfully boot into windows, if i restart PC, it will not double post) Power button> MSI logo> Restart> MSI logo> Windows 2. After some reading, I found out that secure boot also needed to support for windows 11, so i also enabled secure boot from the bios. From the beginning, I assume double post was fixed after I enabled secure boot at the bios. everything seems fine, no double post and manage to boot in to windows. After I cut off the power and start the PC during the next day, the PC will freeze at the bios splash screen. The sequence like below. Power button> MSI logo (Stuck) It just hangs there and I can't go into bios whatsoever, clicking any button from the keyboard no respond at all, unless a hard restart by clicking the power button. Power button> MSI logo (Stuck)> power button(hard reset) > MSI Logo> Windows So what I've tried so far. 1. Enabled TPM 2.0 but disabled secure boot, it will still restart twice only boot into windows. 2. Disabled TPM 2.0 but enabled secure boot it will freeze at bios splash screen unless hard restart. 3. disabled both TPM and secure boot, it will still restart twice only boot into windows. anyone can advise how to solve this issue? all these issues happened after I enabled TPM 2.0 from the bios. (Motherboard is Aorus A520 elite). (Windows says BIOS is legacy). On my Aorus BIOS I disabled csm support to enable secure boot and when I saved it and restarted my pc it didn't load windows. I checked the boot sequence and it says there is nothing to go off of but says my nvme m.2 drive is there which has my windows 10 on it. When I did disable the secure boot and enable the csm support it comes up with something in the boot sequence and then works. Please help. (I would like to keep the secure boot).

Hi everyone. Due to the new update of the valorant anti cheat, a friend of mine needed to enable tpm 2.0 and secure boot, once the computer restarted it showed black screen and no POST, so we tried to unplug the cable from the power, turn off the power supply from the switch, remove the CMOS battery for 30 seconds and put it back, once restarted nothing has changed. So we tried to remove the battery for about 30 minutes and reset the CMOS from the clr_cmos jumper. Always black screen. Any type of help is appreciated. I have also already done the PIN reset, and removed Cmos for an hour, all without success. The computer starts normally as far as I can tell, but I doubt if it boots at all. My mouse and keyboard still work (at least they light up). I have been searching the internet for days, but so far nothing could help me. Under the video in question, more and more people are reporting that they have the same problem as me, They also have a Gigabyte motherboard. I usually solve things myself, but in this case I really don't know what to do. I would like to thank anyone who takes the time to do this.
