  1. Hey guys had a quick doubt, I had bought a Omen 17 Ck2004tx just 3 months ago and it had a lot issues and in the end they said the motherboard died and need to be swapped. After they swapped my motherboard they said the SSD could also be bad and needs to be swapped and said yes to it and now when I checked crystal diskmark info it says its that my gen4 that they claimed is running at PCIE 3x4 mode SSD Used is a samsung MZVLB1T0HBLR-00H1 Also I used Samsung Magician Software and it also said PCIe 3x4 Please Help me
  2. Came across this, wtf is this thing? Seems like a scam. Looks like AMD Radeon Instinct MI50! Help me out here, nani? AMD Radeon JIESHUO VII 16GB dedicated mining graphics GPU 4096-bit GDDR6X PCI-E 3.0 mi50 16g KAS and other computer desktop - AliExpress
  3. Is this a scam? It got a D on Fakespot. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CFWRLDB5?tag=pcpapi-20&linkCode=ogi&th=1&psc=1
  4. I'm tired of so many random people and scam callers leaving junk voicemails. I would just like to turn it off so that no one can send me any voicemails, is there a way I could do that? or do I need to contact my mobile service provider.
  5. About 3 hours ago I got a “Sapphire Nitro+ 7900XTX Vapor X” on Amazon for $650. I was Looking up some stuff about the card and it says that there are a lot of Amazon scams for the card. I was just wondering if this might be a scam and if I should cancel the order.
  6. Remember all those 4090 cards being frantically separated from their GPU chips in China? Well, someone found a business opportunity for all the leftover PCBs and coolers. Quotes Like usual, just beware of too good offers from shady dealers. Source: https://videocardz.com/newz/scammers-are-now-selling-rtx-4090-graphics-cards-without-gpus
  7. Summary The indie game studio 'Zero Hour Interactive' which has passionate Milsim game modders-turned-game developers, making their first game Burning Lands has caused major controversy this weekend when their first game; which started it's Kickstarter campaign 15 days ago turned out to be no longer in development as the game developers went on strike hours before the campaign started. This was first came to light on Friday when an AMA on the Burning Lands Discord went south when the ChanceBrahh/Lead Developer/CEO banned his fellow game developers from attending the AMA which lead them to make their own AMA at the same time which aired the dirty laundry of what was going on and how people who have pledged over $60,000+ USD for a game that isn't actually being developed. The Kickstarter has lost 600+ backers as well lost thousands of $USD of what was pledged but ChanceBrahh chose to not inform anyone of what was going on before the campaign began as well as refusing to suspend the campaign. Quotes Quotes are covered in short YouTube videos which also has screenshots of their dealings with ChanceBrahh My thoughts I find this news interesting because 1) This Kickstarter is still running even though people are pulling out of it and 2) ChanceBrahh, the CEO is trying to use the money from this Kickstarter to outsource the game developers. Sources The Kickstarter page: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/zerohourinteractive/burning-lands-vietnam YouTubers who have the breakdown and their own personal DM's of ChanceBrahh *
  8. I've been hunting for a set of rails for almost 3 months, a ""Canadian website"" neutron canada lists they have them. Its non secure but i was just looking for anyone whos maybe had experience with them?
  9. Someone has recently tried to scam me by sending a fake AirBNB link, which I luckily spotted before actually doing anything (other than checking with AirBNB themselves whether it was a scam). My mother thought that the whole thing was legitimate when I told her about it, which kind of worries me about how easy it would be to scam people like her, who do not care about tech. What are some of the most egregious, sneaky or otherwise impressive scams you have seen, both online and IRL? It would be nice to have some examples to tell to non-techy people in our environments so they can protect themselves a bit better.
  10. I tried a free trial on google cloud for VPS a year ago but terms and conditions are vague and what happens is that if you don't use your free credits (300 USD) it will charge your account with the amount you didn't use but if you use all amount of money it will charge you anyway. I got ripped off with 150+ usd by google for not using all the money, I'm from romania so 150+ usd means 670+ ron and maybe if I wasn't living in a poor country that 150 usd won't mean that much. The point of this post is because I saw google is trying to push google cloud in every aspects that points to developers like reCaptcha, google search api, console and more. Please if anyone from LTT reads this make a video about it, let people know so they don't have to get thru this. I'm not sure what google intensions are but not good that's for sure.
  11. I recently was browser G2A.com, This ios probably the second time I had ever been on the site, but I figured i would give it a try. I saw one of those posts offering "Random ELITE 5 Keys (PC) - Steam Key - GLOBAL", I am going to be honest, I was skeptical, however I read through the product description and recieved the following details. This is copy and paste from the product description. I figureed the product description will protect me from a terrible experience and I will get to explore games I typically wouldn't look for. Who knows what I could draw, the world is my oyster, Im kinda hyped about an adventure into gaming... What I go was FIRE_HEAT Metacritic: https://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/fire-heat/critic-reviews Light Of The Past Metacritic: https://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/light-of-the-past Magic Staves Metacritic: https://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/magic-staves Military Critic Metacritic:https://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/military-division/critic-reviews Pirates Gold Metacritic:https://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/pirates-gold To be honest, I think the first two games of fire heat and light of the past are legit, however If you look at the devs for the other games, you will see the prices for all of their games recently rose to $60 and they are pumping them out at a rate that makes a the EA Sports Madden franchise look like Valve's efforts to make half life 3. I went back and looked at the product description and they clearly commit to offering quality games with a reputable score, however this is clearly not the case. I am curious if this was someone with good intention early on offering legit key packages, only for bad actors to take over and ruin it... or is this was planned from the beginning. I don't want to be a tin foil hatter, but at the same time there seems to be something going on...For a staticitical point of view, if the the games were truely "Random" then I want to know what the odds of getting 2 games from the same developer.... I feel like something odd is going on, Is this something as simple as bad sellers like on amazon. Or is this something a bit more wide spread? Why did multiple Devs raise the price to $60 on steam? How did the sellers get all these keys? What can be done to help fuiture gamers no get got like I did? Also, If this is a long standing problem why have I never heard about it?
  12. So I just wanna start out by saying i'm glad the Linus Media Groups are back on their feet & back up & running again because many would be lost in tech without you.(Until our Lord & Savior Steve of Gamers Nexuses swooped in to save them) But i digress So the issue is pretty simple here, TechLinked seems to be getting served youtube ads by crypto scammers on a large scale rn, most of the channels i've reported & blocked (more than 3 times now) have no youtube videos to speak of & most timed the videos ad telling users to go to their website with a faked elon voice over is all you will see, soI don't really have much to go on to research the issue deeper or do anything beyond report the issue to youtube & go along my way so i thought id drop a dime to the ltt group here & other viewers possibly that this is happening & what it might look like to avoid and report them to hopefully get the issue fixed quicker before it causes anyone damage. Hope it helps
  13. Hi there, does anyone else have the Problem, that the "Yoga Slim 7i Pro x" has instead of the promoted two Thunderbolt 4 Ports only USB4? On short Circut was a Video abbout that Laptop a while ago. Same Problem with the Legion 5i Pro Gen 7. thx for any help
  14. I wanted to post my experience for awareness out there since I know many users may be impacted by this and hopefully my experience can help others avoid this from happening to them. In the end things got resolved for the better and worked out and I did get refunded eventually. I have just finished hard work on a IT and CS masters degree and celebrate at home with my favorite bourbon of choice buffalo trace (rare commodity here mind you). I casually start thinking about upgrading my then GTX 1080 card and I see what looked like an amazing deal on Amazon Prime (a fulfilled by amazon seller this will be important later on). There is a RTX 3080 being sold at 650 USD and its available. Now I had been putting off for a long while being more than satisfied for my uses with my 1080 and wanting to save money but I figured if I didn't jump on this they would be gone so I ordered it excited that in two days I'd get a massive upgrade. I track the shipment meticulously and the day comes around and the amazon driver rings my doorbell...odd usually they just leave the package. I answer the door excited and the driver gives me a tablet to sign which I happily do and get a very small package...odd...I open it and to my confusion get a giftcard box to some obscure Chinese e-commerce site called Sumbuy (i'm not going to link it because its obviously a scam site used to get people's personal information) with a congratulatory note saying I had just been awarded a gift card for their site where I could buy anything of my choosing. I'm noticeably perplexed and already fearing the worst so I frantically run to my apartment's package locker to verify something else hadn't been delivered also. I then get a notification from Amazon that my GPU had been delivered. Anger, disappointment, and sheer emptiness. No worry the order is fulfilled by amazon right? I call instantly and get a hold of customer service where they thank me for being a Prime member. I explain the situation and they told me they could refund me but I would have to wait to submit the request the next day and send the item back. Now problem here is that I obviously did not get a GPU but a scam gift card box. They assure me it doesn't matter and that I would just need to request a refund and send it back. No problem I do exactly that and print out the shipping label and take it to UPS the next day and send it out. Fast forward about 7 days and UPS tracking said it arrived at the Amazon returns location. Now up to this point I was told I would get my refund processed once they received the refund which I now have tracking confirmation of. I call amazon to see the status and they claim they hadn't received it yet. Which I then argue with and give the tracking info to them and they said they received it but then would need a week to process the refund. Again reassuring me I would get my refund even though the seller sold something not advertised. I should add in hindsight it worked out because in between all of this due to the unforeseen events my motherboard failed and the BIOS was corrupt and despite my efforts to reimage, revert to the backup bios, change power settings it was FUBAR. So I decided at this point I was just going to rebuild a new rig since I fortunately had a RAID configuration set up and a offline external with my files backed up. The only question was whether to wait for my refund to show up or go ahead and start purchasing components. I decided to wait. So 1 week in I call amazon asking about where my refund was. They then tell me they had just received the item a whole week after which the UPS tracking clearly showed it was signed for and received. Whatever, at this point I just want to know I can be refunded. They tell me it will take 4-5 business days for it to show up. I continue to wait and no surprise nothing in my bank account yet so I call a 3rd time. I explain calmly how I had been told conflicting information and even sight the sellers page how people had been reporting this same scam in the q and reviews. They concur and apologize and tell me the larger purchases require more time to process refunds and verify. So understandably I question if I'm going to get my refund at all at this point and request that they send me in writing I would due to it being a scam and the order was a fulfilled by amazon order. They do just that and tell me to wait 2 more weeks again assuring me I would get refunded. At this point I figured one of two things I was out about $700 or that my refund was going to get back to me by the time I could build a new rig so I decided to bite the bullet and build a new rig since I was already out of my old dead one and just figured I would get refunded eventually. Good news is I build the new rig and it runs wonderfully and I get my data transferred within the additional 2 week waiting period. Bad news my refund still hadn't showed up. So this is the 4th time I call Amazon. I explain things very clearly to the tech on the line. They seem to understand fully as I sight the UPS Tracking, the order number, and the written correspondence from Amazon. The tech then comes back to me saying I didn't even need to send anything back and that they requested the refund and I saw the transaction posted to my account. So at this point I'm just thankful I was able to get refunded and it did work out in that my old rig died anyway so a new GPU wouldn't have done any good anyhow and I do believe the individual techs were doing what they could with what they knew. However, what I'm put off by from Amazon is how I seemed to get conflicting information based on whoever I happened to have on the line at the time and it seemed to be a matter of getting the right person who just gave you your refund. I mean the first time I called I properly reported it as a scam along with many other users yet they demanded I return the item and wait for the refund process. Which I had no issue with and seemed reasonable as I was told once they received it they would process it in 4-5 days which obviously was not the case here and I had to call after 2 weeks of additional time at which point I was told by a different tech that it wasn't event required to send the item back in the first place that they would just refund me. I mean I don't mean to be a belligerent Kevin because I too have worked helpdesk and service jobs but WTF? But I do not want to get too distracted here as I too had some things I could have done better. For one, the deal did seem too good to be true at that price point, second going back I did realize on the images of the GPU they blurred out the ZOTAC logo on the box don't really know why but I'm guessing it had to do with some copyright or potential legalities, third I probably should have checked the seller history. They didn't have much at all but shortly after this listing they couldn't even be found as even the amazon techs noticed the seller was no longer with them. EC-MRAD was the name they went by just to keep a look out. That seller and Sumbuy are the real ones here to blame and steer clear of in the first place. I'm just thankful in the end I did get refunded by Amazon after many calls, didn't provide any information to Sumbuy, and I needed to build a new rig anyway. Just wanted to post for awareness and to be on the lookout. Don't be an idiot like me all the best.
  15. https://get-novitec.com/ The advertising for this product is super misleading. This product is nothing more than a WiFi booster. "Our team developed a unique technology that blocks your data report to your internet provider, making it impossible for the provider to limit your bandwidth." this is a lie I work for an ISP. there is no way to bypass the limit we put in place. I've warned them to remove the BS in the advertising, and they didn't listen to me. So now i want to destroy them.
  16. I decided to sell my rig its a gtx 1080 ti rog strix, ryzen 1700x, Asus maximus VI crosshair extreme, 2 × 8gb ram an h100i cooler. And I put it online for 2000$ I bought if for 3000$. 17. Hello, my name is Shivam and I'm from India.I brought GTX 1060 Founders Edition back in July 2018 for nearly $340 (USD) i.e., ₹ 24500 from the NVIDIA Official India website after saving money for almost 1 year. After 1 year, the GPU stopped working and I got replacement easily in 2019. For warranty claim, we need to mail NVIDIA support and then they generate an RMA number which is used to claim warranty at RP tech service center in India. Now, I again encounter the same problem with my GPU on 16/02/2021 and then claim for warranty. I visit near RP Tech (NVIDIA partner in India) with my RMA number and they said my GPU gold contact pins are rusted. They decline my warranty and when I argue with them, they rudely talk to me and making weird points like we will not give you warranty claim easily and we ourselves reject your warranty claim. After that, they said talk to NVIDIA Support we cannot do anything. Image of My GPU's front pins: https://i.imgur.com/JliCWQ6.jpg Image of My GPU's back pins: https://i.imgur.com/yj8NoeP.jpg Now, this case getting interesting. I mail NVIDIA support explain them that the condition of my GPU is good and I never touched anything with my GPU that void my warranty. I explain them what happened in the RP Tech service center and sent them my GPU photos. NVIDIA support then told me on Saturday that they will check this issue internally and reply me on Tuesday. I wait for their response and they didn't reply. So, I mailed them again on Wednesday about what's going on. They said to me that they are still investigating. Thursday morning at 5:02 AM, they reply and give me another weird reason which is seriously unacceptable. They send me my GPU photo with highlighting screw and some soldering component and said that this is the reason your RMA is canceled i.e., my GPU warranty claim denied. The Image they send me: https://i.imgur.com/i9lQGP6.png So, please guys I need your help to make this post to reach Linus so that he can see what kind of scam is happening in India. Even, their partner RP Tech employee said me that they will themselves reject my claim no matter what. Due to pandemic, my family financial condition is not good right now. I am a college student and working on Android App Development. I am a casual R6 Siege player. Since, I use Ryzen 1500x CPU, I'm unable to use my PC without a GPU. My last hope is Linus and I hope with the help of this beautiful PC community this post reach to LINUS SEBASTION. Thanks to all Screenshot of Conversation: (conversation is in bottom to up order) First: https://i.imgur.com/3zHwuGd.png Second: https://i.imgur.com/Yju4sOR.png Third: https://i.imgur.com/cBDWpd1.png Their Final Reply: https://i.imgur.com/SPqXll7.png I received a new mail from NVIDIA stating that my GPU is physically damaged. Seriously, this is too much guys. I need your support guys.
  18. A gtx 1050ti with gtx550ti which is 10 years old..... this is a scam Quotes My thoughts this is scam to fool people who don't know about tech and build a pc using guide.... 19. Is third-party driver update software like DriverEasy and Driver Booster worth using compared to Windows Update? Or are they just scams and don't help your computer/laptop at all? I've used DriverEasy for updating my drivers, and it's been working well for me at least. Are your experiences similar to mine or different with these programs?
  20. I came across this today looking at Newegg. https://www.newegg.com/p/1FT-0010-000M6?Item=9SIB5RCHF24857&cm_sp=SP-_-967173-_-Pers_DeactivatedProductAlsoViewElevate-_-4-_-9SIB5RCHF24857-_-14-487-547-_--_-1 It looks like a scam to me because it's and XFX Nvidia card and the pictures of the back of the card don't even look like a 3090. Does anyone else see an issue here?
  21. Acccording to Gamer's Nexus, and allegedly multiple comments by viewers of the GN YouTube channel, Newegg has been running what Steve (from Gamer's Nexus) calls a "scam." The "scam" involves consumers being denied refunds by Newegg after returning what are supposedly return-eligible products, specifically motherboards. Newegg has apparently been consistently citing "customer-caused damage to CPU pins" (from the video at the 4:10 mark) as the reason for witholding the funds from would-be RMA-ers. As Steve says, he's heard about the issue for years, and his best way to test the waters was to keep ordering product as normal for the business. Well, Tech Jesus, it looks like you finally got your answer. "...[T]hey rolled the dice on a random number generator, they happened to roll a critical failure for this one." Steve reports that after attempting to return a $500 (all-in) motherboard that Gamer's Nexus ended up no longer needing (a fact that they apparently made quite transparent in their return merchandise request), they received an infamous response about customer damage to the board. This Newegg response came despite Steve's claims that the box the product shipped in was never even opened. Tech nerds will be familiar with the protective covers in place in CPU sockets to prevent the very issues Newegg is accusing customers of having caused, so it seems unlikely that the pins or socket could have been damaged in shipping, either to or from the customers. Steve basically threw his hands in the air over getting the money back, but admits that creating the video revealing his experience with Newegg will likely make GN back the $500 quite easily and he also expresses his frustration in knowing that the average consumer would not necessarily have the luxary of buying a new part or have a loud enough voice to make the problem see the light of day. It seems likely that tech industry, especially the tech media on YouTube, will have a field day with the story, as they have with past investigations conducted by Gamer's Nexus, such as the biggest GN story of 2021 regarding explosive Gigabyte power supplies. Whatever the outcome, computer builders will likely be enthusiastic to know that they have such an outspoken ally in the tech media and hope to see any wrongdoing (if there is some) on Newegg's part brought to justice. 22. Have you guys seen some of the listings in AliBaba where laptops like Area 51, ROG and Zephyrus are sold for prices between 400 and 500 USD? One detailed look at the spec sheets shows an Intel Core 2 duo CPU instead of an I7/I9 that you normally expect. What is worse is that AliBaba is heavily promoting them as shopping ads through Facebook. I have seen it at least 5 times in the last week. I asked the seller about the processor and left me on read. Obviously, this is fake but does anyone have any experience while purchasing them?
  23. I have a Dell G15 5515 Ryzen Edition, bought in October 2021 on Amazon. This has BSODs which Dell is not interested to fix. Instead they want me to subscribe their some kind of support plan in order to get support. What newegg? In Germany Amazon is also shady. I have attached my review on Amazon which explains how Amazon stole original SSD when sent for service. 24. Hi everyone, Hi Linus my dear friend, I've been following your content for so long it's like we grew up together. AOL brings back a lot of memories and there was a time when I thought 56k was fast. So, let me tell you what happened last week. I searched google for 3090 in the shopping section. I found a good looking website with an EVGA 3090 for less than $1000 in stock. I looked around the website. It looked ok. The about us section had a good story, the money back guarantee logo was very visible, the support page had a phone number. I decided to give it a chance. The story in the about us section was convincing enough. I paid $989.00 for an EVGA 3090. The transaction went through but the 3090 was still in my shopping cart. I opened a ticket with their support. The next evening, on Saturday, I got a call from their support. The gentleman on the phone assured me that the transaction was successful and that it would be processed on Monday. A few days later I received an email with a tracking number. I checked it almost everyday. Last week I checked the status of the tracking number and it said that it was delivered. What? Delivered? When? Yesterday? I was home... Ok, maybe its outside. I checked in the front, on the side, in the back... nothing. Okey, no problem I think. I'll check the cameras. Maybe someone took it? I checked the NVR, then I checked the Koona, but no delivery on any camera. The proof of delivery says it was signed by ABCDE. I had an amazon delivery on the previous day on camera but no deliveries at all on the day the $989.00 EVGA 3090 was supposedly delivered. I opened a ticket with UPS and submitted a couple of tickets on the website. Right now I'm feeling kind of scammed. Could somebody help me out please? Maybe look in to this website? What if there was a mistake somewhere and an EVGA 3090 for less than $1000.00 really does exist. the website is <removed by staff>I'm going to be hopeful until we can say for sure that its a scam. Thank you, Max G.
  25. It's been a while but I finally got defrauded and bought a bum used GPU . It was bound to happen eventually. Thankfully I took photos before plugging it in so I have proof the faulty part was blown before testing. I had an MSI RX580 4GB in my PC running as well as expected. I plugged the 1060 in and only the IGP booted up , I thought I heard a single quiet pop and maybe I smelled something briefly but not sure now. I took it to the repair shop and they confirmed that the card didn't work and showed me that a resistor had blown I checked back on my initial photos and confirmed that the same resistor was blown before plugging in. At home , I tried plugging in my RX580 but it didn't work anymore So either the PCIe or PSU had blown and since I didn't have a PC to test it in I had to use a PCIex1 Gigabyte WiFi Bluetooth card to check and it seemed to work fine so it must be the PSU. Two questions , maybe three. 1) Is it possible for only one part of a PSU to blow (VGA/PCIE) and everything else runs fine? 2)Provided I clean the card up and check through the card thoroughly , is it possible to fix the card repacing the blown resistor? 3) is it possible for a PCIex16 to be damaged so it only works as a PCiex1?
