Hi! New here in the forum. Need your help on my issue. I have been using a Samsung 970 Evo for the 2 years and have been working fine. I noticed a few months back that COD Warzone crashes and had to reboot to work and goes back to default. When it crashes, I am unable to access the drive on windows. I thought it was a software issue. So I repaired, updated, and reinstalled the game but still has the same issue. This is driving me Nuts hahaha. Any help you guys can provide is greatly appreciated. Here are the troubleshooting steps i Have done. · Installed COD MW Warzone on a different SSD (Crucial P1 1TB on an M.2 to pcie adapter). Game does not crash. · Noticed that other games also on the 970 Evo were also crashing. Moved all of the games to the Crucial P1 SSD. No issues. · Secured Erased and reformatted the 970 Evo · Was using updated Samsung NVME and Magician drivers. Rolled back to an older version. · Rolled back Intel Chipset drivers. · Used Windows Default NVME Drivers. · Reinstalled updated Intel Chipset drivers. · Moved the 970 Evo to the M.2_2 slot to the M.2 to PCIE adapter that the Crucial P1 was using. Still Crashed. · Moved the Crucial P1 to the M.2_2 Slot. Not Crashing. · Using updated BIOS for the Motherboard (2503). Rolled Back to 2402 and 2301. Reflashed back to 2503. Cleared CMOS Every time. Still failed. · Tried Running on Bios Defaults. Games still Crashed. · On PCIE Bios settings, tried default and forced PCIE X4 for both the M.2 Slots. · Got a new Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1 TB. Installed on M.2_2. Game still crashed. · Redid every previous troubleshooting steps for the new Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1TB. Still Crashed. · Removed the all other M2. For context, I built my pc back in late 2017, so far I don't have any inclinations that my drives are failing but I feel it should be done soon to replace them, and I dislike the vibrations I can feel from the harddrive. Currently my pc is a 3700x, 16gb ram, ASRock B550, 6600xt, the 2 drives are the Cruical MX300 525gb m.2 SATA, and 2TB Western Digital RE4, and I am considering replacing both with either the Samsung 970 EVO 2tb for 160$ or the Sabrent 2TB Rocket Q for 190$. I'm only using 1.3tb of my total 2.5tb of storage. So I would like to know if i can copy the files from both drives with little to no potential data loss, I don't have anything too important on them but it would be a huge pain to lose anything without knowing what. And I would like to know if the sabrent rocket Q is worth the extra. I'm mostly gaming. Also to add screenshots of crystal disk

I have a Gigabyte Z270 Gaming 3 motherboard my current storage consists of 2 500gb 2.5 HDDs and a 128 Toshiba M.2 ssd. I wanted to get rid of all of them for a single 1TB Samsung 970 Evo NVME But I can’t seem to figure out if my board is compatible and if it would work.

I recently built my own pc where I changed every single component expect for the hard drive. I used to have a prebuilt and I didn't want to lose all of my storage and pay money for a new storage device. So I decided to carry it over. It worked perfectly fine but the hard drive has many issues. It constantly reaches 100%, is overall very slow and is just unusable. I want to purchase a 970 evo and get rid of my harddrive. I want to completely reinstall windows and just throw away my other harddrive including all of its storage. (Also, if I can, how can I completely wipe that harddrive and could I be able to use it as extra storage) My question is, how do I install windows on that new ssd and get rid of that harddrive, while keeping my windows license? I don't know what I should do in the bios, what I should do before hand. What do I do with the usb drive I have seen so many videos talking about? I just know very little in regards to storage devices. My specs: MSI B450 Tomahawk Max Ryan 5 3600 2060 Super (I don't know the harddrive, I just know its from Toshiba)

Has anyone tried Asrock X470 Taichi Ultimate with M.2 Nvme Raid 0? The two slots are different speeds and one is gen 3 the other gen 2. I would assume they both just drop to the lower of the two. The specific drives I am aiming to use are 2 × SAMSUNG 970 EVO M.2 2280 2TB PCIe Gen3. P.S. Since people usually ask why I want to do some really expensive overkill the answer is, because. Just because.

I have been having an issue where my pc will not automatically boot to my M.2 drive, even after changing the boot priorities and resetting my mobo settings then trying again. Every time I have to manually boot the drive, and then it loads fine. Does anyone know how to solve this issue? My Pc specs are as follows; PCPartPicker part list: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/PcGxzY CPU: AMD - Ryzen 7 2700X 3.7 GHz 8-Core Processor (Overclocked to 4.22Ghz) CPU Cooler: GAMDIAS - CHIONE M1A 240R 52 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler Motherboard: Asus - ROG Crosshair VII Hero ATX AM4 Motherboard Memory: G.Skill - Ripjaws V Series 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory (Overclocked to 3266Mhz) Storage: Samsung - 970 Evo 250 GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive Storage: Samsung - 860 Evo 1 TB 2.5" Solid State Drive Storage: Western Digital - Caviar Blue 1 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive Video Card: MSI - GeForce RTX 2070 8 GB Video Card (Stock) Case: Corsair - Crystal 570X RGB (Black/Red) ATX Mid Tower Case Power Supply: EVGA - SuperNOVA G3 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply Operating System: Microsoft - Windows 10 Pro 64-bit Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-04-21 19:43 EDT-0400 Boot drive is Samsung 970 EVO, Game and priority storage is Samsung 860 EVO, and my old WD Blue drive was an old boot drive from another computer which has been reformated and is now used for general non-priority storage. * I noticed some other strange behaviour, after changing the boot animation to enable and clicking save changes and reset, it did boot into windows by its self, so for a sanity check I shutdown through windows then turned on my computer again and once again "No boot drive detected" so I had to manually boot from the drive again.

So currently i have a 7700k 4.6ghz O.C. GTX 1080 https://www.newegg.com/samsung-960-evo-250gb/p/N82E16820147593?Item=N82E16820147593 x2 In a raid 0 with windows 10 on it. On this motherboard. https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16813132967?Item=N82E16813132967 Not storage on games is getting low for the games i want to play at 500GB limit. I currently ordered https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BN217QG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 X2 For a total of 2 TB of NVME storage. And here in lies my question about PCI lanes as i don't very well understand it to where I probably should to make a decision. Now I also ordered https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07NQBQB6Z/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 under the assumption that i could slot the 2 1TB NVME cards into this or swap out and reinstall windows with the 2 TB NVME cards in raid 0 while the 2x250GB NVME cards were in this so i wouldnt just be throwing them away. What type of combanation would i use to make this work 2TB raid 0 in motherboard with the 2x250 GB ssds on the card and vice versa. What are the draw backs and what do you think i should do?

Hi everyone, I ran into an issue where my Samsung 970 Evo 1TB M.2 NVME is only using x2 PCIe lanes instead of the x4 it supports. As such I am only getting half the rated speed. Motherboard: Asus RoG Strix 370-e CPU: i7-8700k GPU: Nvidia 2080FE RAM: G.skill TridentZ 4x8GB Additional Storage: Samsung 860 2.5" Sata SSD 250GB (Boot Drive to be hopefully replaced), Samsung 860 M.2 Sata SSD 1TB, WD Green HDD 1TB I can't switch the M.2s around because only one port supports SATA. From my understanding and feel free to correct me, my chipset should support up to x24 PCIe lanes. My GPU uses x16, I have nothing else connected to the motherboard, and the other storage drives' interfaces are SATA which don't use PCIe lanes. I'm not sure if my NVME is defective or not. My only other option at this point to figure it out is to disconnect my GPU and connect my display to the motherboard to definitively free up lanes and see if that is the issue. Any other ideas as to what the problem is and how to fix it?

Hello guys, I recently built my first ever pc (first that I built completely on my own). When I first booted the pc only the HDD was showing up and by accident I started installing windows 10 there. After realizing it I cancelled the installation. I opened up my pc again connected my ssd correctly and then both the ssd and the hdd showed up. So I installed windows on the ssd but in the bios in the boot device manager it still shows that I boot through my sata connected HDD. Is there a possibility that there were leftovers from the first installation? I also have problems opening projects in DEV-C++ when I download them from my drive ...they show blank and then an error that It can't write on the C: disk shows up...so I believe that there is a problem with the storage...Is there anyway to completely wipe off my ssd and hdd and reinstall windows?? (Btw there were partitions of my disks that I could not delete or format when I tried to install windows for the second time.) Thank you in advance! I was originally going to get the 970 250 GB (NVMe) over the 860 250 GB, but I have noticed that there is a 500 GB version of the 860 for around the same price. Is it the better deal? I've been told here that I am unlikely to notice the speed difference between the two, at which point I have started wondering if it might be a better idea to get the one with more space instead. Is this the case, or should I still go for the 970 250GB over the 860 500GB? Thanks.

My specs are listed, and I will include some pictures - But I'm having issues with a 'hot' M.2 SSD. After a boot into Windows, HWiNFO64 has the drive sitting around 34-40c. But as soon as I launch a game, it will spike up to almost 80c - and it never comes very far back down. I played a couple rounds of World of Tanks almost 48 minutes ago, been sitting in Windows with only two tabs of Chrome open (this tab & a Messenger one) and the drive is still sitting in the upper 60s to low 70s. Last night I removed the drive & it's heatsink. There were a couple bubbles under the thermal pad, which I replaced with a new one I cut from a sheet of Arctic Thermal pads. Previously I was using the stock Wraith Spire cooler & the drive never got above 60c with the bit of airflow that cooler provided. With my current Enermax T50 cooler, I tried seating the fan lower down, closer to the mobo to get airflow under the cooler & to the surrounding hardware but it obviously isn't helping. I'd obviously like to keep the T50 cooler on the CPU, both for looks & performance, but not if my boot drive is over heating. The Spire usually tops out around 65-68c with my workloads, so it's a viable option, but a lot louder than my current config. I have two Corsair ML 140MM fans in the front of the chassis that are running around 1400RPM. There's another two 120MM fans in the roof that I put in last night, running around 1200RPM. The RAM is obviously an airflow obstruction, and there's the USB3 cable that could be moved for a bit more airflow maybe. But aside from swapping back to the Spire, anyone else have any options - aside from just cranking the front fans?

Hi, I just recently build a workstation for a customer, but after extensive testing, we figured out that it is running really slow... even slower than my laptop... And I have a MacBook air 11 inch 2014, but I digress. Does anyone know why the computer stutters, and crashes? BTW, it goes in this order: Slow > Stuttering > crash. I overclocked the i9 slightly, but after taking a look at its power consumption after 24 hour stress test, the maximum it got (for the entire computer) was well under the power supply's load rating. (it drew about 700w, and I got a 850w PSU) It is NOT thermally throttling either (I had something record my maximum temps, which were 88º C on any given core) Could the boot drive be the problem here? I know that there are (occasionally) drives that simply fail... which would be annoying... as I just got rid of my driver downloads... Please respond ASAP Thanks

I’m going to use a 500gb Samsung 970 evo as a boot drive in the asrock z390 Taichi. I’m new to m.2 drives. Does it matter what slot you use if it’s a boot drive?

Hey guys, I just build a new system today and I encounter a problem here. The hardware listed below: CPU: Core i7-8700 Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix H370-i RAM: Corsair Vangence LPX 2x8G 2666Mhz Boot SSD: Samsung 970 Evo Nvme M.2 ssd Storage drive: Samsung 850 ssd Graphics card: Zoetac GTX 1080 mini After I finish installing all the hardwares, I power up the system and it successfully booted. I notice that the 970 Evo was not shown in the bios, however, the 850 ssd was shown. I tried top and bottom m.2 slot and update the bios system, but it still shows no m.2 detected. I was intended to use the 970 Evo as my boot drive to install windows. I checked the specs of motherboard and 970 Evo from their company’s website respectively, and I found that H270-I support m.2-2280 form factor and 970 Evo is 2280 form factor. But still, 970 Evo is not shown in the bios. I called ASUS support. They said the H370-I some how do not support 970 Evo, and suggest me to twitch to 960 Evo. I wish someone can help me solve this problem. Thanks!
