So I've bought a new Samson Go mic, and it doesn't work with Discord or Skype. It is working though on voice recorder (Windows 10 built in voice recorder) and in games like Overwatch and CS:GO. I've plugged in my mic to other computers and it seems to work just fine with Discord and Skype. (Also whenever I plug in the microUSB end into the mic I can't hear any of the conversation). Any ideas?

First, some history. So I don't waste your time First version of this microphone was released way back in 2005 and it got famous real quick. But, it was soon forgotten because Blue Yeti took over. However, Samson is back and they improved the old one a lot. New version features headphone output with zero-latency monitoring, and an improved signal to noise ratio, but has a lot more to offer. Roll the intro. Their website claims it also features natural warmth and detail of vocal and instruments, every producers’ dream. But we’ll check if it’s true. First that we spot on the box is that it’s USB, so no XLR output and no use with mixers. Unboxing is simple, it’s fairly protected by the foam and my box came all beaten up. Luckily, the mic was not damaged. It features a 19mm diaphragm and really ensures studio quality audio. If you’re interested in a sound test, it’s at the end of the video. Big improvement for us, and I’m sure for a lot of producers out there is that headphone port. I use it all the time, since it can output microphone’s sound mixed with computers one, which helps a lot. Their website claims this mic is great for voice overs, audio for YouTube videos like this one, and recording instruments. But, the biggest con of this microphone is that it features only supercardioid pickup pattern. It’s not a big deal since it picks up anything in front of it and eliminates everything behind, but this isn’t a microphone made for interviews. Big plus of this microphone is that the diaphragm is shock-mounted, and it does a really great job at eliminating vibrations from the table or anything else. Another good thing of this microphone is that it features flat frequency response, from 20Hz to 20kHz, so you can really edit the audio. With it’s 16-bit, 44.1 to 48 kHz resolution, you can be sure this mic will capture clean sound. Peak LED indicator in the front indicates when the audio is peaking, which is really helpful since I can’t look at the screen and read something from the paper in the same time. Green means good, red means peaking. Let’s talk about build quality. This is solid metal. Everything is made out of metal. Table stand, mount, body, capsule, anything you name is metal. And that means great build quality. The table stand is okay, does it's job, although Samson sells a better one seperately. I’m not gonna talk much about the cable, since there isn’t a lot to talk about. It’s long and okay, not too durable but does its job. A big plus again for this microphone that it’s plug and play, no drivers needed. And it works with my iPad which is helpful. It’s compatible with both Windows and Mac. Overall, honestly I would recommend this microphone to producers who are new to producing, but that doesn’t mean that professionals can’t use it. For the price it sells for, this is way too good. And I would recommend it over Blue Yeti and I wish more people knew about this product. Video: I hope you like this little review I did! What do you think about it? I'm new to all this, so I appreciate everything you write EDIT: Filmed with Canon 70D. Yea yea, I know, it's not the best I'll do my best to improve it.

I'm interested in this for a wireless solution for using headphones on VoIP's, so I'm wondering how the quality/background noise is for things such as discord.

I need to get some speakers for my desktop. Which one would you pick? Is the Samson worth the extra price - it's on special right now so it's about 50% more, but I can get that amount in one extra month? I'll mostly use it for gaming and multi media use, so clarity is most important. The fact that the Samson has a 3.5 port - for another audio source - and Bluetooth is nice, meaning that I can use it for my laptop and phone without connecting any cables. http://www.microlab.com/?r=21systemen&st=full&id=431 http://www.samsontech.com/samson/products/studio-monitors/media-one/mediaonebt3/ Any other recommendations would also be great. I'm not from the US so giving a budget is really tough, just take the price of the Microlab as a rough budget.

Hello, currently I'm using a cheap microphone on my PC called SF-666, but there are a lot of versions of this same mic, it's that black and orange one you see everywhere. So, I want to have a better microphone, but I'm not sure which one should I get and I also don't know what is required for them to work. In a ~$50 budget, it seems that the best options are: Samson Meteor, NW-700 or the NW-800. First of all, is the sound quality of them very different from each other? Also, if I get one of the NW's I would have to use a phantom power? If the answer for that is yes, does a USB sound adapter like this:https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-External-Adapter-Windows-AU-MMSA/dp/B00IRVQ0F8/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=usb+audio+adapter&qid=1557378910&s=gateway&sr=8-3 does the job? Sorry for so many questions, but I know nothing about mics. Also, if you know any other good/better mics than these around ~$50, please tell me. Thank you for reading!

Hello everyone! CubePro (aka Seth) here, and today I’m reviewing the Samson C01U Microphone! I’ve started moving towards tech reviews and such because of my background in computers and video technology, and this is my first review! Have a look! VIDEO REVIEW TEXT REVIEW Preface One of the things I would like to point out about this review is that I have used the C01U for going on three years now, and you can still find it in stores; B&H lists it as the C01UCW, but the model is identical in every way. I have used the C01U in literally hundreds of videos, so there are plenty of samples, even if a few are subpar due to Windows hijacking the gain controls (thanks Microsoft). Price A cheap condenser microphone of decent quality is essential to any recording artist or Youtuber who is just starting out on their adventures. Condenser microphones are designed to capture rich, detailed sound, making them excellent for voiceovers and instrumental recordings. The words “cheap” and “quality,” however, do not exactly belong in the same sentence, and that is part of what makes the Samson C01U such a great microphone for me. The base package is $50 USD, and you get the microphone, carrying bag, mount, stand, and USB cable; in other words, everything you need to get started. You can also purchase an extended package priced anywhere from $100-$150 USD, and that will give you a pop filter, a larger (but still compact) desktop stand, and a shock mount. The more expensive variants may include a padded carrying case and software. Quality Quality is something rather rare among cheaper microphones (granted, most cheap microphones aren’t built for quality sound capture). The Samson C01U stands out with a full-metal casing and a certain weight that feels incredibly solid when you lift it. I was actually surprised by the heft of the microphone when I first got it. I expected the device to be a lot smaller than it was. There is nothing particularly special about the USB cable they give you other than to say that it works. The microphone is compatible with both Mac OS and Windows, making it an ideal choice for consumers and enthusiasts alike, from your basic laptop Skype-er to the professional video creator. The sound quality on this microphone is excellent. According to B&H Photo Video, the microphone has a frequency response range from 20Hz – 18kHz and uses a hyper-cardioid pickup pattern. I found the bass tones to be slightly lacking in my captures, but that is always fixable with a small boost in post-production, and in most cases it is barely noticeable. The C01U has excellent sound capture, comparable even to the Blue Yeti, which costs over double the C01U’s base price. I’ve used the microphone for three years, and the only audio issues I can detect are a result of the auto-gain adjustments that Windows (or certain capture programs) will make to the microphone, so it is best to disable those and find the setting that works for you. Any Issues? Because this is a $50 microphone, Samson gives you everything they can for $50. That means, of course, that you are a little left out compared to the Blue Yeti’s 1/8” monitoring port, gain adjustment, and selectable pickup patterns, none of which can be found on the C01U. However, those are the only minor gripes about this product, and honestly don’t count much against the device considering the affordable cost. Conclusion The Samson C01U is an excellent starting microphone for anyone looking to improve how they sound in voiceovers and Skype calls. I cannot tell you how many times clients, professionals, and co-workers have commented on the clean, crisp sound that this microphone captures when I talk with them online. It might lack in some of the extra features that more expensive microphones have, but the C01U makes up for it all with excellent sound and build quality. Mine still looks as new as the day I pulled it out of the box, and three years later I still do not feel like I need to replace it. If you need a great microphone under $100, this is definitely one of the best options out there. Thanks for reading (and watching), and until next time, I'll catch you later! - CubePro (Seth)

Backstory: 2 years ago, I fell for the scam, and bought a pair of Astro A40. To be honest, I'm surprised they lasted this long, given their 1-year warranty, anyway, this isn't about them. About 2 months ago, my microphone started having issues, but it wasn't too bad, so I decided to ignore it for the most part. It hasn't gotten that much worse, but at this point, it's a major annoyance. To the point: So, I've been looking around for some smaller desk microphones to replace the included detachable boom-mic. At this point, I'm really liking the look and formfactor of the Samson Meteor and Meteorite, however, from what I've heard they tend to break within a week or two. So does anyone know of similar products? Or has anyone here had a good experience with said microphones? Thanks in advance!

Ok i hope i posted in the correct thread =P So i use the mic mostly for talking to friends over skype and mumble and the reason why i got it was that i saw it for cheap on massdrop and thought hey i need a new mic now as my logitech desk mic is about to die and this should be a great quality mic. Now i was using a 3.5mm mic before and with it i used asus noise reduction software but it does not work for usb mic for some reason. I have been searching a lot for a replacement software but so far i have had no luck. The issue is that for some reason my keyboard and mouse clicking gets picked up way louder than they should be and even so bad that it overpowers my voice at times. I have tried moving the mic around but no matter where i put it everything that is not me gets picked up way louder than it should. Through the mic you can even hear the people walking around on the floor below me as if they were in the room with me and with my bare ears i have to focus to hear them walking around. All i find when i search for it is ways to help static noise reduction stuff like plugg it in to a new port, programs that only works for 3.5mm mic or how to get rid of it in post recording it and none of these help me.

I'm looking to get a desk microphone that can pick up multiple people's voices in the room without having to lean into the mic too much. I also need to make sure that it doesn't pick up sound coming from speakers and typing from the keyboard. It doesn't necessarily have to completely mute the keyboard, but it's definitely important to mute the speakers. Since it's for Skype that would be a pain in the ass for other people to have audio loop back around to them. I've took a look at the Samson Meteor mic, but I'm unsure if that's the one I truly want. Is that the best one to get? If not, I would like something within its price range, which in the UK is £50-60. If there are any other BRILLIANT ones that go slightly over that margin, I may consider them too.

I've been in the market for an affordable, portable af recording solution for jam sessions and pretty much anything music-related. Not into carrying around a mixer, fuckton of cables and all the rest of it, so purchased one of these TEENY TINY microphones, received today. Just coz I'm curious, what is the LTT Communities' thoughts on this little darling of a condenser?

So I'm about to start a YouTube Channel (I doubt my decision every 2 seconds ) and I need a USB mic that will sound good and will not make me want to upgrade for a while. I'll be sitting and anywhere between 20-45 cms away from the mic and I've eliminated dynamic mics altogether. There will also be some background noise so I'd prefer one which isn't uber sensitive. I'd be glad if you all could help me choose a mic from the ones I've shortlisted. Also, if it matters, my voice is a little bassy. 1.Samson Meteor Mic 2.Samson GO Mic 3.Blue Snowball (Or the iCE. Is the audio quality the same in a Cardiod pattern?) 4.CAD U37 5.CAD U1000 I'd really really appreciate a quick response! P.S. - Other recommendations are welcome but don't recommend the following since I can't get them due to certain issues like price or availability - Blue Yeti, Audio Techinica ATR-2500 or 2020, Samson CO1U or the Behringer equivalent

I bought a pair of Audio Technica ATH M20x's little over a week ago that replaced my old Sennheiser HD-202s. I did look around for the Superlux HD668b's (as recommended by tek syndicate) but they weren't available in my region. After i saw the Samson SR850s on sale and did a little bit of digging, i found they were a re-brand of the aforementioned '668bs. They are currently available for far cheaper than the m20x's, Which ones sound better? (objectively) and is returning/selling my m20x's a good idea?

Hey, I have a samson c01u microphone and ive been having problems with it changing its audio level in windows 8.1. It was fine in windows 7 but it seems to be playing up royally here. I have disabled "give applications exclusive controll of this device" and set "do nothing" on the comunications tab. It keeps changing the setting from 96 (what i want it at) to arround 85 which is too low, and it does this all the time. Cheers.

I am looking for a decent mic for around $100 or less, and I found this. http://www.amazon.com/Samson-Meteor-Studio-Microphone-Chrome/dp/B004MF39YS I've never heard of it before, and I'd really like to know what you guys think about it. For $50 should I get it, or should I get the Blue Yeti instead, or even something like the Audio Technica AT2020 (which means that I'd have to save some more money)? The mic is probably gonna be used mainly for something like a casual game commentary or a short product review video, so nothing like professional studio recording session or anything like that.

Hey, I want a microphone for skype, teamspeak, and recording youtube videos. I have around 100 dollars to spend, but there is one thing that is holding me back; my keyboard. I have a really loud keyboard (mechanical) and a somewhat loud pc, so I need a mic that is good at noise cancelling so people in skype etc. don't complain. I am also getting the Rode PSA1, so the mic is a bit above my keyboard. I was thinking of getting the Samson C03U with the SP01 shock mount, thoughts?
