  1. My specs are a ROG Strix b450 f gaming, ryzen 9 3900, hyper x fury 2x8gb, psu 600 bq 80 plus, msi rx570. My pc has been working fine for over a year now and i exchanged the cpu from ryzen 5 2600 to a ryzen 9 3900 today. I also added a ssd kingston 480gb. The mobo has some lights that identify which part of it is not functioning and it shows the dram. I 've tried taking them out and move from slot to slot mutiple times and it still remains lit. And another problem is that i can't see the screen despite the gpu or cpu not being the problem according to the mobo lights. I really need some help with this cause if its the motherboard, i'm in deep hell.

    The Widowmaker

Hey all, New guy here so thought I'd share my build with where it's up to at the moment. I'm quite new to the pc world but loving not only the gaming experience but also the freedom to customise and make it your own Named the widowmaker purely because I will likely be torn apart when she sees how much I have spent lol. Started out with a build budget of around £800 - £1000 in mind, well that ship sailed as soon as I got the bug for it and started to play around with things. Still got some bits to do like wall mount the monitor and add gpu into the loop but it 90% there Build specs are: PC: Thermaltake View 71 Snow Edition TUF Gaming x570 Ryzen 9 3900x Aorus RTX 2080 Super Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16gb 3200mhz Corsair RM850x WD Black nvme m.2 500gb + Adata m.2 256gb + Seagate HDD 2tb Corsair XR7 360mm Radiator Corsair QL120mm x9 + QL140mm x1 + LL120mm x2 EK Velocity Acetal CPU block + 16mm PETG EK Revo D5 Pump/Res combo with 250 tube and multiport top ReaperCable Carbon+Purple PSU extentions Setup: Samsung C49RG90 49" Ultrawide 5120x1440 @ 120hz Asus VG278Q 27" 1920x1080 @ 144hz ROG Horus GK2000 RGB Keyboard Corsair M65 Elite Mouse Thermaltake M700 Extended Mouse Mat Steelseries Arctis Wireless Pro + GameDAC Hope you all like Keep safe, Ben
  3. So I just recently reinstalled. Upon installing programs and drivers and such the computer naturally had to make a couple of restarts. On several of those the speaker beeped three times and the screen gave e a "CPU OVER TEMP ERROR". Then when finally back in Windows after all the installs I go to check CPU temp. 80C+ on idle. What's wrong here? Is it normal or do I just need to reapply thermal paste? I did notice the stock cooler was a little bit loose. I have not done any overclocks.
  4. Hi All, I recently built a gaming PC with the following configuration: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/HappyTron/saved/#view=fQzgt6 At the two messages are shown: Memory PMU Training Error at Socket 0 Channel 0 DIMM 0 & DIMM 1 Which changes to: Memory PMU Training DIMM 1 For about a month there was no issue with the computer and all 4 RAM sticks were working fine at 3600 MHz. There was a instance when the computer suddenly shut down and after reboot this error started showing up. Now I only see 32 GB of memory being detected in the task manager and running at 2666 MHz. I tried setting the BIOS settings to default, enabling and disabling XMP, but it doesn't change. I am fairly new in PC building and don't have enough in-depth knowledge about memory timing and troubleshooting. Any pointers to try and debug this issue would be a great help. Thanks!
  5. I was wondering if upgrading to Ryzen 3rd gen is still worth it now or whether I should wait for 4. I currently have an ivy bridge HTPC which has been running nonstop since October 2012 and it is in dire need of an upgrade. The computer freezes all the time, and becomes unresponsive (so unresponsive that a hard reset is the only way to get it back in "working conditions"). As a result I was thinking about upgrading my current 1st gen Ryzen system, to 3rd gen and transfer the hardware of my current system to my HTPC. If I were to upgrade, my HTPC hardware would be: Ryzen 7 1700 Asrock X370 Taichi 16GB RAM A new M.2 NVME SSD as boot drive I would most likely pass on my current GTX 1060 6gb as soon as I upgrade my GPU too. As for the system that I'll be upgrading to, those are the parts: Ryzen 3900x Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master 32GB RAM NZXT Kraken X73 (The NVME ssd and the HDD are for the HTPC) Should I hold off for now until the new generation is out or considering the current situation and the likely case that the 4th gen Ryzen family will be delayed, I should just upgrade now? EDIT: HTPC runs Plex and is used by my dad in another country and timezone with bad internet which is why the HTPC is on 24/7 (he usually uses it when I'm sleeping) and since he lowers the quality, the on-the-fly transcoding is more CPU heavy which is why I feel that the upgrade would be somewhat worth it
  6. I know its over kill but i don't want to mess with it for years after I build it. https://secure.newegg.ca/Shopping/ShoppingCart.aspx?Submit=view Any suggestions on other parts would be appreciated, not even sure if all these parts will work together.
  7. Straight to point: Hi, I have a Ryzen 3950X. It’s running hot when idle. I did everything they told me to do in forums and other website. It’s still hot. How can I lower the temps? Thx! ——— Longer explanation: Hi, I just build a new PC for my friend and while setting it up, I ran into some problems/questionning First, here are the specs: Ryzen 9 3950X MSI MEG X570 ACE 32GB (4 x 8GB) G.Skill Trident Z Neo DDR4-3000 MSI GeForce RTX 2080 Ti 11GB Gaming X Trio Corsair RMx 750W 80+ Gold PSU Western Digital SN750 500GB M.2-2280 NVMe NZXT Kraken Z63 Now, when building, everything went fine. Setting up Windows also went fine. Gaming for the first time is the same thing. *BIG TL;DR at the end ——— Part 1: But, after a week, the PC was getting really noisy, from fans and pump, even when doing nothing. I then proceed to look at the CPU temperature. I saw 57-60ºC. The cooler reported a liquid temperature at around 30-35ºC. I look up online and saw some solutions: It’s normal for Ryzen to idle between 40-50ºC Set the power management plan to AMD Ryzen Balanced Set the minimum CPU to 5-20% Update chipset driver Update BIOS So I did the first 4 (need to be physically there to update BIOS, but can't because of the virus) and optimized the fan curves, and nothing has changed. Temps is still the same. When I open Ryzen Master, I can see that the CPU is in Default OC mode with a clock at around 4.2GHz with temps at 60ºC. (**Quick reminder that this is after Windows startup, doing nothing). Pictures: So TL;DR Part 1, how can I lower my CPU temp when idling? ——— Part 2: So it’s the second day since I wrote this, and today, I decided to play with Ryzen Master a little bit. I did a reset of Ryzen Master: nothing changed I put the CPU into Creator Mode with the OC at Eco Mode: nothing changed I set the OC to Manual and decreased the clock down to 3900: a little bit changed (± 5ºC) THEN… I decreased the maximum voltage for cores down to 1.35V (decrease of 0.1V from 1.45V) and BOOM: temps dropped to 55ºC. So, ok, what if I continue to drop it? Another -0.1V, another -5ºC. I repeat it again and decided to stop at 1.20V. And that's when I got the sweet spot of 40-45ºC. So I guess I found it. Decrease the voltage. BUT, it still doesn’t answer my questionning. Why do I need to do that? Doesn’t the CPU and Mobo do it on it self? (btw, everything in BIOS is untouched except fans curves, boot priorities and SMT, so voltage should be at AUTO) I would expect the CPU to come out of the box ready to play, no OC. For someone, like my friend, with only beginner knowledge about computer, it could be risky and frustrating not to know how. And I usually don’t like doing this (OC) because it’s not my PC and I don’t want to take the risk and break something on it. So TL;DR Part 2: Why do I need to manually decrease the voltage? Is there something I did wrong during the building process? Is there a way to set it to auto? ——— BIG TL;DR: How can I lower the temps on my Ryzen? Why do I need to decrease the voltage? Can I set it to AUTO? ——— Sorry for the long essay. PS: If you need more info, write to me and I’ll provide more picture. Thx! NHL.
  8. Hello Everyone looking for a suggestion here.I am planning on to assemble a Gamng/esxi machine. CPU: AMD 3900x/3950x MOBO:X570 Phantom Gaming-ITX/TB3 RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Desktop Memory Model F4-3200C16D-64GVK GPU: 2070/2080 Super I already have a ssd and hdd from old machine to use. Case:Fractal Design Node 202 Case+750W PSU I want this to be as minimal as it can be in terms of space. Looking for suggestions here or your feedback to how I should proceed. Thanks in advance
  9. Hey there. I put a 100% Vanilla Minecraft server up in my spare bedroom some months back and have been educating myself on the details of being an admin in this environment. We started on my extra R5-2600 and 16GB of ddr4-3000 and a terrible sata ssd. I've upgraded us to a good Samsung NVME drive and doubled the system memory, allocating as much as 24GB to Minecraft if needed. We also upgraded to a 3600X I am trying to improve performance continually while also improving the experience. Currently the draw distance on the server is 18 chunks. When my small group of players is online I am pretty easily able to outfly the redraw of the server. My question is, would a 3900X handle this better simply because it has twice the cache? The small increase is clocks would help slightly, but it's the cache that I think would actually make a noticable difference in gameplay. Is this a reasonable assessment? Can I borrow an R9 processor from someone just to test this? Yes I am serious and would treat the loaned hardware with the utmost respect and replace it in the unlikely event of a failure.
  10. Im trying to find the sweet spot to set my CPU GHz and Volts to on my system. I have a: Ryzen 9 3900x 32GB RAM (4x8G) Sticks G.SKILL Trident Z Royal Series(DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3600 (PC4 28800) Desktop Memory Model F4-3600C16D-16GTRG) 16-16-16-36 2080 TI Ive looked at and watched many videos of overclocking but i havnet gotten an exact answer on what s the perfect clocking speed for this CPU.
  11. Hi Guys I wanted to share my new build with you guys, as I think it turned out great ? I have been waiting to replace my old 3770k with something that acually gave a decent performance boost, I decided to go AMD this time as I mostly do software development and the extra cores come in handy for docker containers and compiling code. My old builds have been styled as a utility, no lights just black/brown fans and black water cooling from OCOOL, so this time I wanted to go full on RGB as we all know that RGB does make a computer about 10% faster ? This was my first custom water cooling build so I went with EKWB parts, as they are know to be good quality and I wanted something that just works I went with solid tubing as I like the aesthetics better than soft tubing. Parts currently in the system: CPU: Ryzen 9 3950x. Motherboard: ASRock X570 Aqua. GPU: Nvidia FE 1080ti (waiting for the next generation to arrive before upgrading) Memory: My old TridentZ 3200Mhz 14:14:14:34 32GB kit (I have been thinking of upgrading, but getting timings close to those on 3600Mhz kits is expensive). Case: Lian Li O11 Dynamic XL Silver Editon as I thought it goes well into the color scheme of the motherboard. Powersupply: My old Corsair RM850 with a Cablemod kit I think the color is carbon. Harddrives/SSD's: Samsung NVMe 960 Evo 500GB , Samsung sata 860 Evo 1TB, Samsung sata 840 Evo 500GB Cooling: Distro plate: EK-Classic DP Side PC-O11D G1 D-RGB + DDC 3.2 PWM Fittings: EK-Torque 12mm HTC with black rings Fans: 6x Lian Li BR Digital Aluminum, controlled via the motherboard GPU Block: EK-FC GeForce GTX FE RGB - Nickel + EK-FC1080 GTX Ti Backplate - Nickel + EK-FC1080 GTX Ti I/O Single Slot Bracket Radiators: 2x EK-CoolStream Classic PE 360 Lighting Extras: Cheep splitter board for 5v adressable RGB bought on AliExpress, the lighting is controlled via the motherboard. Things I would like to change: There are a few bends in the pipes I would like to redo at some point, It was a learning process, and I ended up figuring out that I like the extra bends to go towards the motherboard. I would like to inject light into the main CPU cover, as it doesn't have any light out of the box, but shining light into the plexiglass from the top of the motherboard does seem to make it light up Things I would like to upgrade: I would like to get some 3600mhz RGB memory at some point with a aluminum colored head-spreader to match the build. The GPU will be upgraded when the next gen arrives. I would also like to get another NVMe drive at some point Give me your honest opinions and tell me what I could improve.
  12. I built a new PC and I'm having several problems with it that just doesnt make sense to me. The pc is getting slow and crashing, and I've already tested my GPU, RAM, and SSD in my sister's PC. PC setup: CPU: Ryzen 9 3900x MB: Biostar x470GTN GPU: RTX 2060 SUPER RAM: 2x 8gb 3200mhz SSD: EVO 850 500gb The main question and the only thing I can think about is, does my mother board supports my CPU? What do you guys think it could be?
  13. So I am at the point now where I have gotten the idea to setup my pc as a VM and was wondering if my idea was a good one or if I should find alternative routes. I was thinking of upgrading my current build (Be Quiet Dark rock Pro 4, Ryzen 2600x, Gigabyte X470 AORUS ULTRA GAMING (rev. 1.0), Trident Z 16GB RAM 3200mhz, Gtx 1070, 250GB samsung 970 boot drive, 1TB samsung 970 steam drive, 1TB WD blue storage, 2TB WD black storage) To a 3900x and 32 gb of ram, to create multiple VMs on my main machine instead of building a pc for every little thing on my network. I was looking to turn it into like 4 cores for gaming, 4 cores for game server, 2 for VM overhead, and 2 for NAS. I'm just not sure about what would be a good VM software to use of if this would this be a good idea? If not what would be a better alternative for around the $700 price range?
  14. Hello community, I am building this setup for gaming competitive games, streaming, watching films and listening fav musics. My main need is to have maximum fps for 240hz Monitor in 1080p resolution. Also, data processing will be one of the main thing for this build to do. That's why I chose ryzen 9 over i9 9900k, I hope PCIe 4.0 will do much better. I want to hear your advices almost for all pc parts as I am not PRO at it. CPU and GPU is already bought. I am not looking to save some money and get items with the best value. I just want to know, if there is really much better product for each of part in the same price range. Here is my part list, I hope you will give really good advices
  15. Hey everyone, Newbie here. I'm going to start my first build soon. Just purchased a Ryzen 9 3900x for my CPU, which pretty much blew most of my budget, but, I was recently given a GTX 1070 for pretty cheap. I know bottlenecking is going to happen, but, would it be so severe that no one with a brain or any kind of experience would dare use it in this build? My build is not necessarily for gaming. More for productivity. I'll be modeling and sculpting in 3D (blender, ZBrush) and doing some game development (unity) and plenty of drawing (photoshop). I plan to have a good amount of memory and storage, and a nice power supply that should be pretty future-proof. Main question: can I get away with this GPU without loosing performance where I'd need it? Thanks everyone in advance, All advice is helpful. I'm learning as I go, but would love to be as educated as I can going forward. Saving money is awesome, learning something new is priceless.

After explaining that I've had the graphics card RMA'd and replaced 3 times and put a different graphics card in they suggested the motherboard which I think was definitely the issue. I installed the replacement motherboard ASUS sent me and it's still stuttering. It occurs while I'm working on my homework and in game. I recorded it happening and posted it to youtube. The stuttering occurs at timestamps :42 , 1:42 the rest of the video is me trying to get it to do it in minecraft but I couldn't get it to act up in minecraft. My original post is linked here and goes more in depth with the problem-

  18. I bought an AMD Ryzen 9 3950x from Amazon.ca but received an AMD Phenom II in the box. I still can’t figure out how did this happen. Any thoughts on how someone managed to swap the cpu without breaking the seal? the seal looked good before I cut it and then I realized the old cpu. IMG_0372.MOV
  19. When I start the system everything lights up for a second before the computer shuts down again. Reset of CMOS a few times in a row will make the system start again, but only for a while. Motherboard: ASUS x570 Gaming E CPU: AMD Ryzen 3900x Memory: 4x16GB DDR4, 3600MHz gSkill GPU: ASUS Geforce 2080 Super I built the system in January. The system was fine for a few days. I managed to install a few of my games and play without issues. Then one evening the computer just shuts off. I did not use it at the time so it was just idle. I switched it back on and managed to update the bios to version 1405. Everything was going smootly for a while and then it happened again. Now the computer refuses to post without resetting the CMOS, but most of the time it just stops. I can't see any patterns in the Q-code on the motherboard. It stops randomly. I've tried to use only one memory stick, switched the graphics card to another slot. reseated the CPU just to see if something was bent and I've gone through all the cables from the PSU to the motherboard. The PSU is a Corsair AX850, so it should cover everything. If I make it to bios there is no sudden temperature spikes or anything like that. When the system was working I would see idle temperatures of 35-40C. Please help
  20. Hi’ I’ve seached all over the web, about Ryzen 3000 and which RAM that works well with the the processor. I found this thing called “Infinity Fabric” which is some thing AMD uses to determine “the sweet spot” in terms of RAM frequency and Cas Latency as far as I’ve understood. I saw this picture AMD released for their Ryzen 3000 series, where it said that the best price/performance spot was 3600MHz and CL16. So I went at bought these g.skill TridentZ neo DDR4 RAM (F4-3600C16D-32GTZNC) with CL16-19-19-39 1,35V. It specially says on the box, that they are “engineered to provide premium performance for the latest AMD Ryzen 3000 series on the X570 chipset platform” I have a Ryzen 9 3900X CPU and Asus Rog Strix X570 F-Gaming MOBO. NOW I’ve updated the BIOS and suddenly options appear, like FCLK frequency. But I don’t know what i should fiddle with, I don’t want to kill the electronics. Under the tab “Ai Tweaker” (inside the bios) Memory Frequency is set to ‘Auto’ and it says the target DRAM (which I guess is RAM/Memory) frequency is ‘2133MHz’. I can in here (the BIOS) set the Memory Frequency to some values between ‘DDR4-1333MHz’ and ‘DDR4-6000MHz’ instead of ‘Auto’ (3600MHz is one of them). FCLK Frequency (which is something to do with infinity fabric I think) is set to ‘Auto’ as well, where the Target FCLK Frequency is ‘1200MHz’. Like the Memory Frequency can I instead of ‘Auto’ set some values. Here between 666MHz and 3000MHz. Target CPU speed is 3800Mhz (it has gone over 4,2 MHz, when using the computer though - I don’t know if it has something to do with “AI Overclock Tuner” or “Perfermance Enhancher” being set to ‘Auto’). It says DRAM voltage is 1.2V i don’t know if it has to be 1.35V as it says on the TridentZ neo box. But I can’t change it - it’s not an option to change ‘auto’. Under a sub folder “Ai Tweaker\DRAM Timing Control” The DRAM CAS# Latency is 15CL and is set to ‘Auto’ - can’t change it. I’ve noticed that Increasing the DRAM frequency to 3600MHz increase this to like 25CL or something. (Which is what I don’t understand, when the RAM says it can do 3600Mhz and CL16 - specifically for the Ryzen 3000 Series in order to get infinity fabric 1:1) Don’t know if I have to check’ something, if I am to change these ‘auto’ values. What should I do, in order to get maximum out out my RAM?
  21. Before anything, I'm Brazilian and I work with 3d rendering so I was looking for a powerful pc mainly to work with, and that could also handle games. I built up a PC (it's my first time) and bought a ryzen9 3900x and an RTX2060super, but since I don't understand about power supplies, I bought the cheapest 80plus 600w PSU that I found. When the PC arrived, the PSU was making an unpleasant noise that only got worse when the CPU worked harder. I activated the warranty and sent the PSU, now I'll have to wait like 2 months until they give me a response about the PSU problem, send back and finally arrive at my house. And now the problem is, I need to work but the only PSU I have left is a non80plus 550w, and I'm afraid of burning my PC down. If yes, can I use the 550w while I wait it to arrive?? And if not, what PSU do you guys recommend me to buy right now?

  23. Hello guys, so i have my build down there, i already buyed some stuff, i just need to get the procesor and the motherboard from all that. What do you say? its a nice build? I will only use it for streaming, video edditing and gaming, with only overclocking the CPU to max 4.2/4.3. How do you think will perform? Should i change the motherboard and go for the Crosshair Hero VIII? I don't have in plan to overclock, only if i can with a easy way , to get 4.2/4.3, atleast. And i buyed the msi rtx 2080 duke OC, cuz it was at a sale. 24. Hello there. Again the guy from Romania. I just buy the ryzen9 3900x. What motherboard should i get? I have to chose from: -crosshair hero VIII Wifi -msi meg ace The price difference bettwen them, in my country is 100euro. The crosshair its with 100euro more expensive then the meg ace. 25. Specs: Motherboard - MSI MEG X570 ACE (BIOS 7C35v16) CPU - R9 3900X (replacing with R9 3950X) Memory - G.Skill F4-3200C14D-32GTZSK https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-32gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820232378?Item=N82E16820232378 x 2 SSD - Corsair MP600 1TB Video Card - Aorus Xtreme 1080 ti So my issue is tried the ryzen calculator and set manual timings for 3600 speed and run a few mem test and works fine even after hours of gaming sessions. Shut down the computer and turn it back on and I get the overclock fail error. Tried with the memory try it in the motherboard and on all the 3600 speeds starting from 16-16-16 all the way to 18-18-18 and fails. I manually have set DRAM voltage from 1.35 to 1.4v and every time I decide to shut down my computer I would always have to go to BIOS and put it back to XMP then go back into BIOS after windows boots to do a RAM tweak. So at this point I'm at my wits end on how to make the memory OC stick after shutdown. The memory is on the QVL for the motherboard and yes I could keep it at 3200 C14 but would like to run it at 3600 to get that on par with the infinity fabric clock for optimal speed boost of the CPU. Any ideas?
