Hey, so i have a ryzen 7 3700x and it came with a heatsink, but it still gets my cpu hot, up to 70 degrees c and I want it to be cooler so i got a huge rgb heatsink but it only has 4 heatpipes but has 2 120 mm fans, will this new heatsink work better than the stock heatsink?

So I have a Ryzen 7 3700x that in idle or using chrome, etc.. uses 3518MHz and usually bumps it up in the 4000's when playing games and staying in the 3000's when not under load. Ever since the recent windows update it has stopped boosting the clock speed when going into games, any idea why this would happen ? Could this affect any of my other components of my pc or performance ? (Already tried messing around in power plan settings to see if anything were wrong)

My Ryzen 7 3700x is idling and all cores are jumping from 3518Mhz to 4366Mhz and it's all just random, temps also fluctuates up and down causing the fans to ramp up. When under load in games though, all cores will stabilize to 4.3Mhz and the ramping of the fans will stop and be more consistent. Is there any way for me to just set my clock speed to 3518Mhz on desktop and just doing general things and have 4366Mhz only while gaming? Core performance boost and Performance Boost Overdrive are both set to auto in the BIOS, while AMD Cool N Quiet is enabled. Even if I can't fix this issue, is this something to worry about? Could this shorten the life span of my CPU?

Hello, I have been having problems lately when it comes to getting the most out of my CPU and GPU. I was running an i5 9400k with my RTX 2070 super. I thought the CPU was bottlenecking and was due for an upgrade anyway. I bought a new motherboard, an Asus ROG STRIX b450-f alongside a Ryzen 7 3700x. After hooking everything up I was still only getting 90 frames in Cold War. I know this is far below what I should be getting as I have seen people getting upwards of 170 with the same CPU and GPU. I have 2 sticks of RAM that are 16 gigs and run at 3000 MHz. And I have proper cooling so I know nothing is overheating and everything is running as it should be but it is not. I have the latest chipset, bios, and GPU drivers installed so I do not think it has to do with any of these updates. Please feel free to leave your suggestions down below as I am in need of finding the fix so I can maximize my performance. P.S. my Power supply is an Nzxt c650 Gold

Built my first system and got it running thanks to some help from here and LTT videos, but I had some questions about the RAM and CPU temps and figured here would be a good place to turn. Specs: Motherboard: Aorus Pro Wifi x570 CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X w/ stock cooler RAM: 32Gb G. Skill Ripjaws V. 3600Mhz (2x 16) When I initially got to the POST screen and went into BIOS, only 1 stick of RAM was showing and system information also thought I only had one stick (I am in slots 2 and 4). The DRAM light on the motherboard was on as well and would occasionally flash to the CPU. After enabling XMP in BIOS everything recognized the second stick and it is now running at 32Gb, 3600Mhz no problem. The light turned off and so far no more problems. Is that going to be stable? I checked and the stick is in there correctly and snug, is there anything else I could be doing wrong? For the CPU temps, I have noticed that when I get to about 20% utilization it will be at about 80* C. During my installation of the CPU cooler I did have to pick it back up and re-seat it, since I didn't get one of the of holding brackets correct the first time, but at the time I didn't think it was a problem since the paste was still contacting the CPU, could this be causing the high temperatures? Or is this because of the XMP enabled? I also currently only have the 2 fans the case came with, one intake at the front (bottom slot) and one exhaust at the rear. 2 more fans are arriving in a few days. Could this be a lack of air flow issue since the front case fan is currently on the lowest mounting point at the front (basically blowing on the GPU)? Thank you!

Hello! By the tittle you already know what i'm about to ask. My thing is, the 2700X is 190€ and the 3700X is 330€ - more 140€. Is it worth it? I'm updating my build, I have and will have: Nvidia 1060gtx 6gb 16gb ram Micro-atx MSI B450M Pro-VDH Max Corsair 600 (power supply) The cooler will be the cpu one for a while. I'm a 3D modeler, my build is meant to be more of a workstation (priority), but I play a lot too. Now, is the Ryzen 7 3700x much better than the 2700x that is worth 140€ more? If you need more info to decide let me know. Also, thanks in advance for the help :D

amd High temperature on Ryzen 7 3700X - [HELP]
ACiNYX posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
So I built a PC yesterday with a 3700X and Stock cooler. I'm not an enthusiast. So I really don't know anything in depth. So while playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey in Ultra settings for an hour or more my CPU temp hit 89-92 C. (Auto Voltage > ~1.45V) Then I changed core voltage to override mode and fixed voltage to 1.375V. Then I ran AC Odyssey and my temp was 81C and increasing quickly. So how do I fix my temperature? I have an msi X570- 2 replies

Asrock x570 phantom gaming 4 Ryzen 7 3700x 2x8gb gskill 2400mhz ripjaws Gtx 1060 3gb EVGA EVGA supernova 750 g2 And a 1tb Seagate HDD As seems to be a problem with these boards I can not get either the MB or the GPU to output either a bios screen or just boot straight into windows 10. I had to swap out the CPU and MB due to an electrical surge which rekt my gigabyte mb and my core i5-6500k, I have replaced only these two components and have not been able to get a display out. I haven't reset the CMOS because I haven't been able to find the connectors you short to do so. Could the difference in MB's be a problem? Anyways thanks for any help!

I have the 3700x in my system for a months now. I always have msi afterburner, Core temp and other hardware monitors running. On my laptop with a i7 8565 all 4 cores have different temperatures. On my Ryzen 7 all cores have the same temperature. Why is that?

Hi everyone so I'm stumped today because my brand new computer seems to not be working. I should preface this by saying I have notoriously bad luck with buying PCs whether it be custom building or pre-building and for safety measures I did indeed have a pre-built made. I wanted to just see if you guys can tell me if there's something wrong with them or if there are any issues that I should be aware of. (my specs) GPU AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT CPU AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core Processor 8 Cores 16gb of ram (link of machine) https://www.bestbuy.com/site/cyberpowerpc-gaming-desktop-amd-ryzen-7-3700x-16gb-memory-amd-radeon-rx-5700-xt-2tb-hdd-240gb-ssd-black/6362428.p?skuId=6362428 The reason why I have created my account and why I'm posting here is because I don't exactly know where else to turn to get proper Tech advice I've been talking with my CS major friends and even then were a little stumped. I have a new pc of course with the RX 5700 XT 8gb from ASROCK Along with an AMD ryzen 7 3700x. so far I've had an amazing time with the PC which I should also mention is Built by cyberpowerpc. however, while I have been playing Monster Hunter world, my computer has a black screen both of my monitors. For reference, I'm using an HDMI cord for a 60-hertz monitor in 1080P along with a DisplayPort cord for a 144 Hertz 27 inch 1440p monitor. The issue starts when I usually am pretty deep into the game and getting into some action and then suddenly the screen slightly freezes and then turns black and my monitors act like they have no signal. during this time I can hear any audio and I can still speak to my friends on Discord however I cannot see anything on the screen. The first time this happened I did pull my desktop out of the little compartment I hold it in which mind you is very open area it just sits under my desk and I listen to it there and i heard the GPU buzz. after doing some quick Google research I learned that that meant that it was under high stress. later on, I downloaded hwmonitor and watched my thermals and along with any other items to see if maybe the GPU was overheating like many people said the GPU does because it runs very hot. then I left my PC running the same game for 2 hours with the GPU at 99% where it did not black screen I even when i was playing the game at the time. afterward, I did go into radian to go check if there was a new driver or something that was causing the issue, last night on the 4th of January they did drop a new driver and after looking through the patch notes it said the following. (under fixed issues) “A black screen may occur when Performance Metrics Overlay is open and changing game resolution.” https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-rad-win-19-12-3 After that point, I thought that most of my issues were fixed even though I wasn't all tabbing in and out of the game or causing anything that would make it change resolution rapidly. sadly again it did cause that again so I looked around more to see if there was any other things that I could do to probably fix this. I did quickly open up the PC to check if there was anything loose the ram in the GPU did not make any large clicking noises so I quickly removed the bolts securing the GPU in place and then took it out blue on it and put it back in just to see if there was any dust in the actual PCIe slot. I'm currently testing the PC at now and will give any update if it happens again however I would really appreciate your guys' help. I should also add that I do have a one-year warranty cuz I did buy this from the Best Buy and they said that I can return it for any purpose and exchange it for a new one so there's no pressure but I would prefer seeing if I can fix the issue before I have to drive across town to make that happen. -Bluzie

BIOS settings - XMP profile, Smart Fan reverting back to default when system is completely shut down and disconnected from power. This is my very 1st budget gaming PC build. Not at all into overclocking and other geeky stuff about extracting more juice from PC components. But being a follower of LTT, RFP, Pauls Hardware and other PC build videos managed to build this dream setup. The main components I have assembled are as below - i. Ryzen 7 3700X(with stock wraith RGB cooler since am not overclocking CPU) ii. Gigabyte X570 Gaming X iii. G.Skill Tridentz F4-3200C16D 16GTZR 8x2GB (2nd and 4th slot) iv. MSI RX5700 XT Evoke v. Corsair MP510 480GB vi. Corsair RM750 PSU Havent tried updating the BIOS and everything else is in default setting. Only changes I am doing are enabling XMP profile inside Advanced Memory Settings, enabling Fan failure alerts in Smart Fan. With these changes saved as a profile or simply saving and proceeding with windows boot CPU-Z shows DRAM frequency at 1596MHz, dual channel which means XMP profile is working. If I restart or shut down my system but keep the power to PSU on, BIOS settings remain unchanged and CPU-Z shows 3200MHz. Problem starts when I shut down and turn off power. Next time I hit the power button PC wont boot to windows directly before restarting multiple times with blank display. And when windows is finally on which is the case after 30 secs CPU-Z shows DRAM frequency to be 1064.5MHz sharp everytime, RAM speed drops to 2133MHz. Going back into BIOS welcomes me with the message "BIOS has been reset. Please set configurations .......bla bla bla". This looks like a CMOS battery issue but I think that would have messed up the system date time settings as well which isnt my case. Even then I am an amateur so please correct me if I am wrong. The dealer asked me to bring back the motherboard or change the CMOS battery. Its been a month since I built this and I request expert advice from this forum before I rip apart my system all over again.

Excel starts loading when I attempt to change anything on the workbook. CPU usage spikes to 100% and keeps loading. However if i click anywhere on the workbook ie. a cell. Everything automatically calculates and processes in an instant and drops the cpu usage spike as well as performs all new calculations instantaneously. I have a ryzen 7 3700x, windows, office, everything is up to date. Tried running in safe mode and disabled third party apps. Nothing seems to affect it. If I do any action on the workbook it gets stuck in loading prompt until it shows Excel not responding screen. Yet if i click on the workbook after doing the same thing it instantly does 5k rows of calculations without hesitation. Im assuming its not a cpu problem since it still calculates everything in an instant if I just double click after each action. Which makes no sense to me.

So I recently built my first computer. Everything went well until I stupidly decided to try to plug in the cup fan into the rgb header on my mobo. The fan is prob fried. The mobo is a B550 tuf gaming prime and the CPU is a Ryzen 7 3700x. I've already decided I need to get a new cpu cooler and what not but I did stupidly accidently trun the computer on when there was no cooler attached. Do you guys think I fried the cpu? There is a red light on the side led of the mobo but I can't find any info on what that means in the manual or on the site for this mobo. I'm just concerned that I may have ruined this brand new processor. I have day are trade warranty on it but idk if it covers stuff like this so any help would be appreciated. Please lmk if you need any other Info. The computer did. It fully boot and only started twice but I quickly turned it off.
