Hi everyone, TLDR: I just want to warn all homelab enthusiasts that APUs like the 5600G or 5700G, and apparently also the newer 8000G series can have issues with some PCIe cards, when paired with some motherboards. In my case, with a 5700G + B550 + E10M20-T1 (Synology), the card is not detected at all. I expect the same with the QM2 cards from QNAP with an integrated NIC. When buying the Cezanne 5700G, and using a B550 motherboard, I saw that PCIe was going down from PCIe 4.0 to PCIe 3.0. What I didn't know is that the bifurcation options also go from x8/x8 x8/x4/x4 x4/x4/x4/x4 to x8/x8 x8/x4/x4 This apparently breaks compatibility with cards like the E10M20-T1. Beware ! Maybe it is not linked at all, but the coincidence is too big. It's sad, because this config makes for an excellent Ryzen SFF homelab machine with very fast NVMe storage, avoiding IPMI powered server MB by having an APU with a graphics output. It certainly helps with the budget, as server grade stuff is expensive. For now, I'm using a 5900X without graphics, because luckily AM4 boards can boot without a graphics card installed.

First time PC builder here. Rocking a 7600 with an ASRock b650m riptide. I recently watched a video from optimum tech where he demonstrates the use of PBO. I've tried it and its great. My 7600 is now at 5.150mhz at -30. However the second part of the vid where he puts the limits is where I'm confused. Can anyone explain the process behind and also give me any additional ways to improve temps, performance etc?

This happened while I was playing ets2 lol ryzen5 5600g onda a520asd4 8x2 3200mhz this doesn't show up when i just turn on the monitor and not the pc so i suspect it has to do something with my pc IMG_20240130_142217.jpg

I have a 5600g and I wanted to squeeze a little more power out of it and I have ample cooling and power from my NH-D15 and my old 1200 watt power supply so I was wondering what are safe settings to get some more power out of it like what should I put in for the PBO limits I saw some people doing a little over 100w on ppt limit but no one had anything with numbers for SOC TDC and SOC EDC so I’m a little confused idk if the photo will help but any advice or numbers I can just put in so Ik I won’t damage anything or cause my pc to crash but still get me a bit more performance and power usage would be much appreciated. I added from what I’ve seen online a picture of what I’m guessing will work but any critique or suggestions would be appreciated.

Hey guys, I've had an H100i pro RGB corsair AIO for the last 7 years on a Ryzen 5 1600x and since the beginning it struggled to cool my CPU (it would run at 80C at max load with stock CPU settings) which I didn't think much of at the time because I was a big dingus when it came to PCs. for the last year I have on and off been trying to fix it but yesterday I bought a new air cooler to test if it was the AIO that's being funky. To cut a long story short, even after buying a new CPU (Ryzen 5 5500), swapping coolers, changing between multiple different brands of thermal paste, swapping out motherboard backplates and trying 3 different coolers, no matter what CPU or cooler I put on my motherboard it runs hot. My new 5500 runs at 70-75C at 75W power and 25C ambient temperature. The AIO works wonderfully in my brothers PC so I know now it was not the AIO that was broken either. I have no overclock or anything applied to any of the CPUs, I'm running stock BIOS settings besides for DOCP. My case has 2 corsair ML120 fans and a phanteks PH_F120SK_BBK_PWM fan for exhaust, I have removed the front panel as it is quite restrictive and all the temps are with 100% fan speed on everything. Heres the list of parts I have used and my current config: Ryzen 5 5500 (current) A second R5 5500 from my dads PC to test if it was the new CPU ID Cooling SE-226-XT (Current) Phanteks PH-TC12DX (just to test, from my bros PC) Asus Prime B450M-A (Current) Phanteks P300 Eclipse with the front cover removed so it can breathe (Current) Pastes I tried: Thermal grizzly hydronaut, kryonaut, ID cooling paste, Phanteks PH-NDC, solar geyser heat transfer paste (Its very fluid, was just to test) My case has 2 corsair ML120 fans and a phanteks PH_F120SK_BBK_PWM fan for exhaust, I have removed the front panel as it is quite restrictive and all the temps are with 100% fan speed on everything. I know the ID cooling tower works well, I built a friends PC and his 5700x with the same cooler maxes out at around 55-60C Is it possible there is something wrong with my motherboards socket or something thats making any cooler/CPU have a bad mount? Literaly any help will be appreciated, I have completely run out of ideas at this point I have attached a screenshot of HWmonitor while running a stress test

Not really all that knowledgable or update to date on this stuff anymore. I have already got a 6800 and the PS, what CPU would be the better pairing? I was looking for around $300 and the 7600x is currently slight cheaper than the 5800x. This was the current build plan https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/fRtRwg

CPU-Ryzen 5 5600G, Motherboard-ASUS PRIME B550M-A Wi-Fi, 8GB 3200Mhz x2 (dual channel) RAM. I Need ram upgrade and I don't know 16GB 3200Mhz dual channel is better or 32GB 3200Mhz dual channel cause I will use productivity applications and AI model training. And also 5600g only support 16gb 3200mhz x2 or 16gb 3200mhz x4. ???? I am confused

Considering a budget-friendly PC build with a Ryzen 5 3600, RX 5600XT, A320M motherboard, and 16GB DDR4 RAM, the chosen PSU is a Super Flower SF-500P12A. While Super Flower is a reputable brand, this specific model is older and lacks an efficiency rating. Reported efficiencies are 84.43%, 84.95%, and 81.30% at 100%, 50%, and 20% loads, respectively. Questions: Go for it due to the reliable brand and non-power-hungry components? Avoid it because of its age and lack of a standard efficiency rating like 80+, 80+ Bronze?

So I'm looking to get a new gpu upgrading from a 3060ti and can't decide between a rx 7700 xt or a rx 6800 with sales they cost the same right now. I'm just wondering what's better with my ryzen 5 7600x. Psu is 1200w so no power limits really either. Would prefer to get a new card tho over second hand

I recently built a new PC around May and it wasnt till later that I learned about Asus's isses with frying AM5 CPUs when enabling DOCP/EXPO. Ive had DOCP II and DOCP I enabled in my pc for the past couple months and I have noticed that my boots times are longer than when I first built it. Im wondering if anyone knows if enabling DOCP will lead too performence degradation on the CPU and if the damage will only be done to the CPU or too other parts of the PC aswell? Would simply replacing the CPU and updating the BIOS fix everything or could the MOBO and RAM have taken a hit? PC Build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/gJbzqm

So with Ryzen 7000 and Asus boards having issues with x3D chips overvolting I was wondering if its safe for me to enable D.O.C.P. for my Ryzen 5 even though my DRR5 6000 Mhz ram runs at 1.35 Volts, and if so if wether DOCP 1 or 2 would be better. Also would setting the FCLK frequency to 3000Mhz improve RAM with out issues?

I have a ryzen 5 3600 cpu and i was wondering if upgrading to a ryzen 7 5700x was worth it. Could I get better gaming performance with 2 more cores, 4 more threads and a higher boost clock?
-
So basically i have this Ryzen 5 3600 and I'm wondering if temps like in the picture below are really bad for the CPU(also CPU is at basically no usage)? I am quiet short on money but I'm not sure if this is healthy in the long run. I am also using the box cooler for it. So I'm wondering if I should spend the money for a different air cooler and if so what would you guys suggest for a air cooler?

So I'm building my first rig and the only part I still can't decide is motherboard. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/GRDMPX (prices are set to local) Main concerns right now: 1. Is wifi worth it? I find it useful to being able to share my mobile internet when the main one has some troubles, also would want to be able to connect the bluetooth headphones if I decide to get some. I'm not sure if getting separate wifi card would be cheaper than just getting it with mobo 2. Is front usb c needed? My case has it but I have no use of usb c as for now, not sure if there is anything useful I could use it for in the future. And is there much difference between the front and rear options on practice? 3. Is the audio quality difference noticeable enough to pay extra for it? 4. Do I ever need all of the extra slots and stuff from the full ATX board? So the choices are following: 1. Gigabyte B550 AORUS ELITE AX V2 Price: 169$ Has front usb c and looks the best fitting overall, but I have read plenty of reviews about usb issues that varies between revisions (the one in my store is apparently rev. 1.2). Also have read a lot of bad stuff about gigabyte bios and software 2. Asus TUF Gaming B550-Plus Wi-Fi II Price: 171$ Apparently very similar to aorus but with rear usb c instead of front 3. Asus TUF Gaming B550-Plus Price: 150$ Same but no wifi? 4. Asus TUF Gaming B550M-E Wi-Fi Price: 139$ Has front usb c, looks like the best deal for its price so far, but not sure about the audio quality and if the slots will be enough 5. Asus TUF Gaming B550M-Plus Wi-Fi II Price: 148$ Looks about the same as above but with rear usb c instead and one more usb 3.2? 6. Asus TUF Gaming B550M-Plus Price: 124$ The most budget option without wifi 7. MSI PRO B550-P GEN3 Price: 118$ Another good atx deal with no wifi but with front usb c (I think?) 8. MSI B550-A Pro Price: 147$ More expensive version with read usb c Would appreciate any input on whether it's worth overpaying for it, I don't plan to update for some years at least and I really don't want to deal with some random troubles so I want to go with the safest option available

Hello, I am having an issue with my Ryzen 5 3600 with overheating. When I stress test my CPU with CPU-Z, Furmark, and Prime95, I usually get around 65c with my new AIO that I just got. I also only pull about 46w. For reference, my old Hyper 212 EVO managed to get around 70-72c. However, when I click "Apply & Test" in Ryzen Master, my CPU will jump to almost 90c (over 90c with my 212 Evo) and my CPU wattage jumps to over 90w. When I am idling, sometimes my CPU jump from its normal 32-33c temp to 45-50c completely randomly. I am including some pictures of my stress tests: -Picture 1 is doing "Apply & Test" on Ryzen Master -Picture 2 is CPU-Z -Picture 3 is also CPU-Z but with no overclock (all others are slightly overclocked). -Picture 4 is Furmark CPU Burner with no overclock Is this normal, or is there something very wrong with my cooling and/or CPU? I never really see these temps in any games, but it does get awfully high when playing a more taxing game like RE4 (74c usually). Is there something I can do to get these temps down? Reapply my thermal paste? Take my waterblock off of the splitter I have and plug it straight into the CPU-FAN header (and plugging in the Rad fans to my chasis header)? For context: I just recently updated to Windows 11, and updated all my drivers too to see if that would fix any of these issues and it hasn't. I also noticed that stock voltages going to my CPU in Ryzen Master are 1.41875 V. Specs: CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 CPU Cooler: ID-COOLING Frostflow X 240 (i.e. a 240mm rad) Motherboard: Asus PRIME B350M-A GPU: EVGA RTX 2080 Super 8gb Ram: 2x8gb Crucial 3200mhz DDR4 PSU: Corsair RM850 ATX 80+ Gold Case: Thermaltake Versa H15 Micro ATX Drives: Samsung 980 1TB M.2 SSD, SK Hynix 120gb SSD, WD Blue 320gb HD, 2x external drives Pic 1: Pic 2: Pic 3: Pic 4:

I am making a completly new PC. I already chose few options for my CPU, GPU and other hardware, one of them is Ryzen 5 5600X as processor. To fit it I am looking for a motherboard with AM4 socket. When searching I came across two which I mentioned in title, GIGABYTE B550M DS3H and GIGABYTE A520 Aorus Elite. It's my first PC I'm building for myself, I am new in hardware and I can't really tell difference between these two, altough I am sure someone here can help me decide which one to get! I am open for opinions and suggestions from everyone!

Summary Linus teased that the new Frameworks with AMD had some nice features. AMD has lifted the embargo so now Framework published all the specs. Quotes My thoughts I've wanted a Framework but didn't want an Intel CPU. This is exciting. Sources https://frame.work/blog/announcing-the-framework-laptop-13-powered-by-amd-ryzen

Back-info: I recently upgraded from the I5 4460 to a R5 3600 and with it I also bought the Thermalright AX120. I let the motherboard, MSI B450-a Pro Max, do the overclocking on the CPU with the OC Genie 4 cause I'm a newbie when it comes to overclocking CPUs. (I have experience overclocking GPUs) It's running at 4.2Ghz. Ok so, since I had this new cooler, I wanted to test if would be able to cool the cpu while running Prime95. And to be fair it did pretty good (65c at ~80w), until the cpu shot up to 137w. I had HWINFO sensors running, but I didn't check it cause as soon as I saw the temperature and the watts up in heaven I stopped Prime95, so I can't tell the voltage it reached. However I had MSI Afterburned up, and it's where I saw what had happened (I was checking the PC and the fans and only noticed what was going on when I looked at the screen). Here's the "relevant" graphs from MSI Afterburner: So, can someone explain what happened? What BIOS settings should I change to keep this from happening again, but stay with a good clock speeds. I'll provide more info if needed.

Hello! I had a question about how to go about the windows fresh install process if I wanna use the old storage devices The fresh install process itself seems straightforward (download the media from microsoft and add it to a usb flash drive after youve formatted the flash drive, put the stick in new PC and install it to fresh storage device) However, i have a 1tb m.2 drive, an empty 500 gb SATA drive, and a 2 TB HDD, and the 1TB m.2 drive has all my windows installation files as well as other program files and important stuff that i frequently access Will a clean windows install require me to format that 1TB m.2 drive? (and thus necessitate some file backing up beforehand). Or would the windows installation media on the flash drive simply overwrite the old installation and leave the others intact? If the former, would it be a good idea to clone my 1tb drive to my 500gb drive with something like macrium reflect as a means of backing up? I actually used it the other way around to get the 500 gb contents to the 1tb drive
