So yeah, it's been about two years I was in the BIOS of my motherboard... this is all pretty complicated and overwhelming... I have an idea of what to do, but totally not how, there are soo many settings... I really hope there's a simple way to do what I want - which I'm not sure what it is myself... i guess "more performance" but I would also settle with less heat and same or better performance... Also I definitely thought cool n quiet would be disabled but it was on the whole time, which didn't seem to matter much, cpu has always been working as intended, up to 4200mhz as is written on the box. So what parameters do I need to change exactly if I want it to boost higher - note I still want it to downclock normally while also getting higher boost clocks, especially under load... Specs in sig, motherboard is a msi b350m.

I just pre-ordered the 1700x! I'm going to use it in my "Road to Ryzen" project build I'm currently doing. That build is going to replace my current i7-4770k, and since IPC between a Haswell core and the Ryzen core seem to be about the same I wonder if certain tasks (such as rendering videos?) will be completed in half the time they are now! Also, I've been wondering why the 1800x is 100$ more expensive then the 1700x since there is only a 200Mhz difference in clock, which wouldn't matter too much to a manual overclocker anyway? What do you guys think? Is the 1800x more for people who DON'T overclock and rely on what the chip does itself and the 1700x is the one to get for manual overclockers, or what's the deal? Hello all! I recently got a CPU water cooler and started playing around with over clocking my computer. Things were going great and I was getting some impressive results. After pushing the system a bit I decided on a clock I though would work for me. I set the clock, saved the bios and my computer began to boot cycle. Windows loaded and I checked the speeds in CPU-Z and they were at stock settings. I continued to test different over clocks and every time I got the same issue. It would boot cycle and return to stock settings. I flashed the Bios and tried only A-XMP and same thing happened. Not sure what happened or if I changed something but the computer does not like ANY sort of boost/overclock. Did I break something? I am pretty new to over clocking. I watched this video and followed the suggestions. Everything was working great until it wasn't. I should also mention that when I input an OC with the CPU and RAM, after the PC boot cycles and I check CPU-Z the power has increased but the clock speed does not. Not sure if this means anything. The computer still runs and boots just fine without any OC. Any suggestions on what happened and what I can do would be appreciated. i have an asus rog crosshair hero vii until *a few hours ago* i ran my 3900x@4.45ghz using 1.325v then i switched the ram (ddr2400 -> ddr3600), reset the cmos, entered my oc settings again, but: * if i touch the multiplier, my vcore is stuck at 1.1 and doesn't move. * if i do not touch the multiplier, the vcore is dynamic like it should be in both cases, my manual vcore setting is ignored. the correct (set by me) vcore is shown as active in the bios, but not in windows. the system isn't stable anymore when i run cinebench r20 when i overclock the cpu via bios. i can still override both vcore and multiplier with ryzen master, but ryzen master only allows a "max vcore", not a "min vcore". to get my system stable, i need to run at 1.325, not below, but if i set the max voltage to 1.325 in ryzen master, the voltage will go down under load. i need to set it to ~1.4v to get to a minimum of 1.325, but i would like to avoid high voltages. how can i fix this? what is going on? how can changing the memory cause this? i am using the most recent bios.

Hi there, I'm new to CPU overclocking and i'm wondering if overclocking the memory can affect a CPU overclock in terms of stability. I also have some other related questions which i will ask at the end. So my setup is as follows: CPU: Ryzen 1700X Motherboard: ASUS Prime X370-Pro RAM: GSKILL FlareX DDR4-3200 16GB (8GBx2) CL14-14-14-34 1.35 Volt GPU: ASUS Strix OC 1080TI PSU: Corsair RM 850W CPU Cooler: Noctua U14S with Noctua 140mm fan Case Fan Config: 3 x 140mm front intake and 1 x 140mm rear outtake Case: Fractal Define S Latest BIOS version I've watched a few YouTube guides on ryzen overlocking and I've managed to get a stable overclock of 3.9 GHz with a voltage of 1.41250 volts. I ran three benchmarks with the results below: Cinebench: PASS with a max temp of 68°C (score of 1674) OCCT for 15 min: PASS with a max temp of 75°C ASUS Realbench for 15 min at 8GB RAM: PASS with a mex temp of 76°C It should be noted that I used the bios for this overclock and I was running with default RAM speeds which i believe is 2400 MHz, (I didn't enable the D.O.C.P profile in the bios). I also didn't touch any of the more advanced settings and just changed the CPU Core Ratio and CPU Core Voltage. So next i wanted to overlock my RAM to it's advertised speed of 3200 MHz with this stable CPU overclock. So this time I enabled the D.O.C.P profile and selected 3200 MHz for the RAM speed. And changed nothing else. I kept the same CPU voltage of 1.41250 volts. However upon re-running the three benchmarks again, cinebench passed but the other two didn't and crashed due to instability. So I went back into the bios and changed the D.0.C.P profile from 3200 MHz to 2933 MHz. And this time I managed to get it stable again, albeit with higher max temperatures as you can see below: Cinebench: PASS with a max temp of 71°C (score of 1703) OCCT for 15 min: PASS with a max temp of 77°C ASUS Realbench for 15 min at 8GB RAM: PASS with a mex temp of 80°C This is where the main question ties in. Can a higher memory overclock using D.O.C.P profiles have the potenital to decrease the stability of a CPU overlock? I also have three additional questions, that being; is 1.41250 volts a good voltage for a 3.9 GHz CPU overlock in terms of the silicon lottery, or is that rather high? As I've seen some people manage 3.9 GHz and beyond at lower voltages with the Ryzen 1700X. Is a max temperature of 80°C safe for a 100% CPU load benchmark? (Of course games will never have this impact on a CPU) And for the final question, is there any other tweaks or advanced bios settings I can use to possibly decrease the voltage whilst still maintaining a stable overlock of 3.9 GHz on the CPU or even 4GHz if I dare? I've heard of some settings such as Load Line Calibration for example. Any advice would be apprieated. Thanks, GR412.

Hey, I recently overclocked my Ryzen 5 1600 to 3.8Ghz with CPU voltage at 1.237v with a 0.06250v offset, just wondering if this will be a good voltage for 24/7 use. Its temps are 24c idle and 56c max load, also if its fine at these settings would I get away with OCing to 4.0Ghz at the same voltages without any decrease in lifespan?

I am currently putting together my upgradable RYZEN!!! (whip cracks) pc over on pc part picker and i selected the AMD - Ryzen 3 2200G 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor to do for now until the GPU prices return to MSRP. I plan to overclock the iGPU and barley raise the CPU clock speed however i fear the stock cooler will not be enough to support "the precious". I did some looking around and the Gammaxx 200T kept rearing its head as the best cooler for the 2200g price range along with the CRYORIG M9a. Both of these coolers are said to be far more promising than the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO .So... what do experienced computer wizards such as yourselves think of these coolers and what do you recommend. I plan on getting the frequency for the iGPU to 1400mhz - 1600mhz or more (dreams do come true!).

how it is possible my Ryzen 3 1200 can run stable at 3.7 @ stock voltage?

So im new to overclocking and i haave some questions about safe voltages and blck mulitipliers. I am running a 1700x on a gigabyte ax370 k5 motherboard with a 120mm evga aio cpu cooler. I currently have my system running at 4.1 ghz at 1.38 volts and my ram is at 3200 speed cl 15 at 1.44 volts with the soc running at 1.218 volts. I have the bclk set at 104.00 to get to 4.1 and 3200 mhz but im not sure if that is ok/safe to run 24/7. Any advice on the situation will be appreciated! Also are my voltages ok?

Just a heads up, I have been dialing in an overlcock for my R5 1600x for the past couple of days and I just wanted to give people a heads up. I assumed 4.0 Ghz was going to be easy to hit as the turbo for a single core is 4.0 Ghz (not much of an overlcock) however with everything I tried I was not able to hit 4.0 no matter the tweaks I had applied (up to 1.45 Vcore). I didn't want to settle for something like 3.8 so I kept trying 4.0 and would pass OCCT/P95 for about an hour but no more before it'd black screen or freeze. However, when I tried 3.975 Ghz with 1.39 Vcore it worked flawlessly (8 hours of OCCT and OCCT linpack, p95 etc.), no errors and it performed identical in cinebench and the weakass cpuz benchmark. I read other places that 3.98 or so seems to be the limit for many chips, obviously depending on your luck, but it may save you a lot of time to try for something just south of 4.0 Ghz. I spent about 3 days scratching my head to hit 4.0 but knowing that just under 4.0 on all 6 cores would work and - not a mHz over - would be worthwhile noting. Also what is OPcache, can't seem to find detailed information on it but i gives me about 100pts more in Cinebench.
