hey guys, i currently game on a ryzen 7 2700 on a Asus ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING II ATX AM4 Motherboard. im curious if this motherboard can support 5000 series ryzen with a bios update. i cant find any documentation saying yes but i doubt it would. also at this point wouldnt be smarter to wait for the next socket? AM4 seems to be at its limit and i cant wait to see wait AMD has coming up.

Ryzen 7 2700 (Non x) 2nd Gen Ram confusion
Cosmin08 posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Hello everyone, I'm trying to understand what Ram should I use for the Ryzen 7 2700 (non x), I got it for free from a family member and wanted to purchase a fast and stable Ram and the CL 14 16 18 and 3200 3400 3600 MHz are really confusing.. The cheapest one is for black Friday is this https://www.amazon.it/dp/B07RM39V5F/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_CENFS0KDNKK0QF8N77YM?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 3600 which I THINK is cl 18 but I've seen videos where 18 is the worse for games than other CL. I don't plan to overclock the CPU or Ram so I need something fast and stable for mainly gaming and some video/photo editing I also don't have a motherboard but I will get a fairly good one so idk if that matters in this Ram discussion. -
hey guys, yet again i come to you for some help trouble shooting. im a streamer, and in the past 24hrs i have been having issues with my pc crashing during my streams. im currentyly doing some stress tests on the cpu and gpu. i have : ryzen 7 2700 @ 4ghz Asus ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING ATX AM4 Motherboard G.Skill Aegis 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 CL16 Memory MSI GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER 8 GB GAMING Video Card with my rig i have been streaming rather comfortably. though i have seen some red flags. my overclock to 4ghz only tops out at 3.95ghz. i have tried to reduce it to 3.8ghz but only getting 3.76ghz. and i think my motherboard or cpu might be ready to die on me. i was streaming bio-shocked remastered before the crash today. i wouldnt think the game would be too intensive but streaming on top of it might cause stability issues. after 25 mins of cinebench r23 my cpu temps are only at 75 max and it hasnt crashed next will be the gpu. any help would be great, thanks!

I would just want to ask what can you recommend more for me as I am planning to save money to buy a new CPU from Ryzen 3 3200G for content creation (Adobe Premiere Pro/Photoshop/After Effects), because I have already a discrete GPU in RX580 4gb (pre-loved from a good friend, just gave it to me). I have an MSI A320M PRO-E motherboard. Which one would be better in your opinion? Based on paper, R5 2600 is at 3.4 GHz while the R7 2700 is at 3.2 GHz. But on the core/thread count, R7 2700 obviously wins at 8C/16T while R5 2600 has 6C/12T. Which one of them is more bang for the buck? Thanks a lot everyone! PS. Would try to buy a tray type only from Lazada/Shopee (online shopping platforms here in the Philippines)

Dear LTT forum, Some weeks ago, my PC stopped booting up (coincidentally it was after a Windows update, but I don't think it has anything to do with it). My hardware: AMD Ryzen 7 2700 Gigabyte B450 Aorus Elite Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8) 2400MHz C16 Operating System: Windows 10 I looked at the LED of the motherboard and it was jumping quickly from the CPU to the DRAM LED, stayed there and cycled once more through the boot cycle. So no post. My initial thought was that there might be something wrong with the RAM, so I switched the two sticks out for another stick of RAM. Sadly, that didn't do anything. As far as I can remember, I did not do anything to the bios (overclocking / update). Looking back through my order history with the vendor, I had the exact same issue about half a year after I bought it, which is a little over two years ago. So that's why I thought my motherboard is toast, but I'd like to have your opinion, as Googling the issue does not seem to give me any relevant results. All issues that I can see either updated the BIOS or changed some settings there, or had hardware that was not yet compatible with the board. To test out my theory, I grabbed my old Asus B350 Plus and put everything on there. I booted up the computer and sadly, no luck, no post. I looked through the board documentation and noticed that the 2700 is not supported out of the box. So I put in my old Ryzen 7 1700, changing nothing else (GPU/RAM/etc.) and it booted up just fine. I updated the BIOS, put back in the 2700, but still no post. I'm just wondering what could be the issue here. I'm still leaning toward my motherboard being toast, as it did get past the CPU LED. What do you guys think? If I need to provide any more information, please let me know.

Hello everyone, I have this problem that really grinds my gears. Apex Legends is the game i play the most, but it also happens on wz 2.0, less notable but still. My system: Asus Tuf b450m plus gaming Ryzen 7 2700 (not X) Zotac RTX 2080 (not super) 2x 8GB DDR4 3200 Corsair Vengeance (DOCP enabled) SSD samsung 970 evo plus PSU is a sesonic gold plus 750w Monitor Benq xl2411 1080p 144hz plugged via DP 2º monitor is a 60hz HP, 1080p also connected by DP The temperature of the CPU and GPU never goes more than 85ºc The problem: When I'm playing Apex Legends 1080p with everything on the lowest possible quality settings, no v-sync and NVIDIA reflex doesn't matter if its off, on or on+boost, i'm always under 120fps and the worst is that from time to time (but in the same match on every match) it stutter for like 0,5 seconds and it really ruins the experience for me and I fell that with the hardware I own and the settings I have it should be butter smooth, am I wrong? I've used DDU unistaller and have reinstalled the graphics drivers, windows is always updated (windows 10 pro ATM), yesterday I've done a fresh install of the OS, installed only the drivers + the Apex game, the problem still there. I've also disassembled and reassembled all the components to minimize bad connections. I don't know, what else I can do. Any ideas? Thanks a lot to those who spend time to read this post Much Love LTT fam.

I am about to upgrade my unraid server and I was hoping I could get some advice or possible better options from those who have had more experience. Any advice is really appreciated. Currently Im running Procesor: i3-2100 Mobo: MSI H61M-P21 Memory: 16GB DDR3 (cant remember the brand) Hard Drives: 6 x WD 4TB Red 1 x WD 2TB Green Cache Drives: 2 x SSD WD 120GB Green Im going to move the motherboard, processor & memory to my offsite freenas backup server as that hardware is failing. So im going to upgrade those components. Im looking at going with Procesor: Ryzen 7 2700 ( R3,349 [$226} ) Mobo: MSI - X470 Gaming Pro Carbon ( R3,979 [$269} ) Memory: Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 16GB (2 x 8GB) 3200MHz DDR4 ( R2,000 [$135] ) Im considering the Ryzen 7200. As my current processor, though it is functioning adequately, I am seeing it hover around 50% - 90% on some of its cores. I feel more cores is going to help me expand on my virtual machines and docker containers where needed. 16GB of ram seems to be fine where im operating at 20% and I can always expand later. Im running 3 virtual machines and 5-6 dockers. Not using the server to serve as a plex server, but it does serve movies directly to machines playing with VLC and other media players. Currently my budget is R10,000 (South African Rand - im located in South Africa) or $675 approximately. With this budget am I looking at a decent machine? Are there any recommendations for a possibly better hardware round about the same price? Im a little nervous going with the AMD processor. Though all the reviews of the Ryzen chips seem to be quite positive these days. My budget is not set in stone so its a little flexible, but I cant spend much more than that. Any advise is welcome and appreciated. Thanks everyone.

hi, i m going to build a pc for video editing in adobe premiere pro and doing little bit of after effect, gaming is not my priority and i will be not doing that(except for some time) i have narrow down some parts for my build but stuck with processor as a result motherboard and gpu is also not fixed(because i have a fix budget and according to that i have to manage thees parts) my build other than these three part is ram=====corsair 2400mhz 16x2==32gb storage==== a)segeate 1tb b) crusial bxm500 240gb psu==========vs550 in starting i m going with ryzen 5 2600 and 10606gb but after that i came to know that there is very much less requirement of gpu other than exporting(which in my case is not that much imp because i m wedding videographer and hence delay of 1 hr is ok for me but not much ) and also premier pro is optimised for intel cpu's. after that i again do some research and found these one with each cpu price i hooked up a gpu which does not break my budget i5 9400f is the cheapest processor and i7 8700k is the most expensive. here are the configration that i can do acccording to my budget i5 9400f + 1660 oc 6gb ryzen 5 2600 + 1060 gb i5 8600k + 1050 ti+ good cooler/ 1650 +normal cooler ryzen 2 2700 + 1050 ti i7 8700k + no gpu(no cash left). "i m getting motherboard of all these at the same price" also i m getting ryzen 7 1700 on price of ryzen 5 2600 and ryzen 5 1600 on price of i5 9400f please consider this also and help me out which is the best configuration for premier pro and also for future proof

Welcome to... ... my latest Build in the gorgeous Corsair Crystal 570X! Consider checking out the BUILD VIDEO to see the whole thing coming together! It's a Corsair themed Build featuring an overclocked Ryzen 7 2700 @ 3.9GHz and a Zotac RTX 2070 AMP Edition. The Budget was around 1600 $. More pictures and a quick Firestrike/TimeSpy test can be found on PCPartPicker. I unfortunately didn't have enough time with the system to do some game testing. It's mostly going to be used for 1440p gaming, some video and audio editing and won't see any higher clocks than now in it's lifetime. I did this build for a friend of mine, so please don't congratulate me on my new PC, I'll get a depression. Here is my quick take on the Parts and why I chose them!: Corsair Crystal 570X RGB ATX Mid Tower: DE US UK AMD Ryzen 7 2700: DE US UK I haven't done an Intel Build for quite some time, and I really wanted to... But considering that this Build isn't only meant to be used for gaming, but for some Video/Audio Editing as well I choose the R7 2700 and clocked it to 3.9 GHz. I think I don't have to say much about it, its perfect for the build and offers amazing bang for the Buck as well as cheaper Mobos than Intel. Corsair H60 (2018) 120mm Liquid Cooler: DE US UK The Build was supposed to be watercooled, simply for aesthetic reasons, but the Budget was already a bit flexed. That's were the H60 2018 Revision came in more than handy. At 60$ you're paying paying pretty much the same price as for a Dark Rock 4, even though it might not match it in performance with its tiny 120mm Radiator, it's still performing incredibly well and silent. IMO it was quite a good choice, because I would have run into clearance Issues, trying to install a 240mm Radiator at the top of the case. Asus ROG STRIX B450-F: DE US UK I love the Asus Strix boards. I love their design, their build quality, their BIOS and the amount of features they offer for the money. At 120 Bucks you get a X470 looking board, without giving up anything. Especially the pre-mounted back I/O is a small but great touch. Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16GB 3000MHz: DE US UK What can I say. Corsair makes good and reliable RAM, and the Vengeance RGB Pro simply looks AMAZING. You have to see it in person to appreciate how beautiful this piece of tech is. Samsung 970 Evo 250 GB M.2-2280 SSD: DE US UK Quick NVME SSD, not much to say, quicker and cleaner looking than most M.2, you could of course safe some money here if you wanted. Seagate Barracuda 2 TB 3.5" 7200RPM: DE US UK Some space. Zotac RTX 2070 AMP Edition: DE US UK This was my first time, using a Zotac Card and I was really looking forward to it. I always thought they looked great and seemed to perform really well. TBH I was a bit disappointed in it. It performed great and stayed quite cool, even with only the Dual Fan Design, but the whole card looked and felt cheaper than I thought it would. be quiet! Pure Power 10 CM 600W: DE US alternative UK My go to PSU. They have incredible reliability, peak quality, run extremely silent and have great cables. Corsair SP120 RGB: DE - UK At last I got one additional Fan of the ones that are pre-installed in the 570X. They look good, run really silent, especially considering that the Case is OPEN, but are not quite as beautiful as the ML/LL 120/140 RGB Series fans, IF you can spare some more I'd really exchange the SPs for those Overall I love how this build turned out. It was quite a lot of work but it's so, so beautiful. Don't forget to check out the Video, and ask me about anything you wanna know! Thank you for reading! P.S. I hope the link are turned into LMG- Affiliate links, if not, I'd be happy if a Mod would change or remove them!

I recently built a computer and have been using an Nvidia geforce gt 730 graphics card. The motherboard is an asus b-350-f, the cpu is a ryzen 7 2700. Everything works fine. I purchased a Gigabyte rx 570 4gb card and when i installed it I couldnt get any signal and the motherboard wouldnt recognize it, also the fans didnt come on. The gigabyte logo and fan stop logo were lit up though. I talked to gigabyte and they said i should get a replacement card so i did and im waiting for it in the mail now. I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem or if i actually just got a bad card. Or if there are settings i need to change or something. Any help would be appreciated.

So, I’ve been at this for two days now, and I have no idea what else to do. For starters, I recently bought all these parts (pcpartpicker link to the build), and immediately noticed the voltage on the +5V in the bios was stuck at 6.9 volts. I honestly have no idea what I’m doing when it comes to more advanced mobo things, so I took to the internet; what was suggested was for me to check the psu, I changed this pc’s psu with my other pc, same result, reset the cpu, clean and reapply thermal paste to the cpu/heat sink, same result, change the battery on the mobo, same result, flash/update the bios, and I tried reapplying all the modular cables from the psu to their appropriate positions on the mobo. Nothing seems to fix it, by chance is it a faulty motherboard or a screwy cpu? build: CPU: amd ryzen 7 2700x GPU: sapphire Radeon rx 5700 Mobo: Asus ROG b450-f gaming Bios used to update/flash: Asus 2901

Well here I am again, in a less than favorable position. I just updated my bios to the largest and greatest with no issues. I went on to YouTube for a over clocking guide making sure I don't screw up. And we'll I got to 4ghz then resetted to adjust voltage but thought " well Jayztwoocents had his on auto I should probably give it a try." Then no post. Rub is running. Keyboard and mouse won't light up. And I had to kill my power supply after 10mins waiting for post. Plz tell me I can fix this. Thanks.

My specs are listed, and I will include some pictures - But I'm having issues with a 'hot' M.2 SSD. After a boot into Windows, HWiNFO64 has the drive sitting around 34-40c. But as soon as I launch a game, it will spike up to almost 80c - and it never comes very far back down. I played a couple rounds of World of Tanks almost 48 minutes ago, been sitting in Windows with only two tabs of Chrome open (this tab & a Messenger one) and the drive is still sitting in the upper 60s to low 70s. Last night I removed the drive & it's heatsink. There were a couple bubbles under the thermal pad, which I replaced with a new one I cut from a sheet of Arctic Thermal pads. Previously I was using the stock Wraith Spire cooler & the drive never got above 60c with the bit of airflow that cooler provided. With my current Enermax T50 cooler, I tried seating the fan lower down, closer to the mobo to get airflow under the cooler & to the surrounding hardware but it obviously isn't helping. I'd obviously like to keep the T50 cooler on the CPU, both for looks & performance, but not if my boot drive is over heating. The Spire usually tops out around 65-68c with my workloads, so it's a viable option, but a lot louder than my current config. I have two Corsair ML 140MM fans in the front of the chassis that are running around 1400RPM. There's another two 120MM fans in the roof that I put in last night, running around 1200RPM. The RAM is obviously an airflow obstruction, and there's the USB3 cable that could be moved for a bit more airflow maybe. But aside from swapping back to the Spire, anyone else have any options - aside from just cranking the front fans?

Hi All, As a newbie (I've actually never used forums that much), I come to all of you with a request for enlightenment. Four weeks ago I have upgraded from my good old trustworthy i5-4670 to a Ryzen 7 2700, along with a MSI B350 TOMAHAWK and 16GB (2x 8GB) of Crucial Ballistix SPORT DDR4 2400Mhz. I know that I could have invested a little bit more on the memory as 2400 MHz for today's standards, and gaming (which is my main activity), is quite off, however, the budget was somehow limited and that's all I could afford for now. The whole rig is: AMD Ryzen 7 2700 MSI B350 TOMAHAWK 16GB Crucial Ballistix SPORT DDR4 2400MHz ASUS EXPEDITION GTX 1060 6GB Samsung 850EVO 250GB SSD Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB HDD Seagate Firecuda 2TB SSHD DVD-RW drive Corsair VS550 PSU Everything seems to be working fine... except two issues annoying issues I am trying to figure out... 1. CPU doesn't turbo past 3.4 GHz So, I have ran several synthetic benchmarks (Cinebench, Furmark) as well as some AAA titles (Rise of the Tomb Raider, Doom) but also less intensive ones like Heroes of the Storm and PUBG. Regardless of that, not even a single core goes above 3.479 GHz. I've tried AIDA64 and ran a stress test of CPU for 2 hours and max I got in one session was 3.5 something GHz, however, those 3.5 never happened again even in similar testing conditions. 2. Rise of the Tomb Raider crashes my Display Driver and dumps a BSOD of BAD_POOL_CALLER This is pretty random... i can play 45 minutes without any issues, and then on another session after 30 minutes it crashes. One thing I have noticed though, disabling the XMP profile (basically underclocking them to 2100Mhz) reduces the frequency or even eliminates this problem (can't really say because last time I tried RotTR with XMP disabled, I played for 2 hours without interruptions). Note also that, I can play several other games with XMP enabled and without any crashes (tested with Overwatch, PUBG, Heroes of the Storm and Doom). This only happens with RotTR What kind of troubleshooting have I attempted? Well, regarding issue 1, I read around LTT forums that somehow changing the Minimum Processor State to 20%, actually helped someone here to fix that issue. However, that was with a 1700X and not a 2700. Either way, I did it, didn't work. Then I read on a forum that, maybe I should just change to the Ryzen Balanced Power plan. This ended up not working either because despite my attempts to change to Ryzen Balanced, it automatically changes to High Performance. Not sure why it does that. All solutions I could Google for that, did not work. I've checked endless power management settings on the BIOS (nothing that I could find relevant there)... On issue 2, I have performed AIDA64 stress tests on RAM for over 2 hours, no crashes or unusual behavior and, I have ran memtest86, 4 passes with all tests enabled, 100% success, no problems. In conclusion, regarding these 2 issues, and with the amount of time and research spent, I am inclined either to a weak PSU for this system , or... maybe the RAM modules? Apologies all for the length of this dissertation but unfortunately I can't make it any shorter. Thanks in advance for the time reading this and every little bit of help is appreciated.

Hey! I have a PC with the following specs:- Ryzen 7 2700 RTX 2080 8GB 16 GB DDR4 (3000MHz) MOBO - MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC So my cpu hasn't been boosting past 3400MHz MAX, without me having to OC it manually I'll leave it at auto and even while gaming, it never goes above 3400, usually at 3350 MHz. I barely get 130 fps on csgo, and sometimes struggle to get even 144 fps on Valorant sometimes. Sometimes I'll get around 180-220 fps on valorant but thats like SOMETIMES Something is definitely wrong because even on the LOWEST settings on csgo, I'll sometimes get low's of 90!! All this at 1080p, check all my settings in Nvidia control panel and theres no DSR enabled, resolution scales are fine, nothing is running at 4k. Can someone please tell me what's wrong with my cpu? Is there something wrong in the settings? Or is there something wrong in my cpu itself that I should get it replaced??

Hi All, I've begun to slowly collect parts to build a new PC. I've been researching and comparing everything like crazy and torn between Intel and AMD. But during the Amazon Prime Day sale, I picked up a Ryzen 2700 that went on sale for $299 CAD. That price point got me to purchase it. So here I am all hyped up to target a Motherboard, RAM and a Case next. Everything else will be moved over from my previous build: Power Supply, Hard drives and my EVGA GTX 780 3GB SC. Here is the issue that is causing my heart to sink and get that painful feeling. While researching a new motherboard, I'm seeing some issues related to using a GTX 780 having no display. it doesn't seem board specific, but CPU specific. Looking at some QVL's of motherboards, the 780 is also not listed. Here is one example of the issues I've been reading up on: https://community.amd.com/thread/228819 I have seen similar posts on motherboard forums. Being that I won't be able to test anything until I've completed purchased all the parts, it won't be for a few months. By then, I would not be able to return the processor as I planned to purchase a new part every other paycheck to fit my budget. I had not planned on purchasing a new video card just to go with the system just yet. Is anyone able to help by providing some insight or confirmation that they have successfully built out a Ryzen 2X00 series CPU with a GTX 780? This doesn't appear to affect any Ryzen 1X00 series, just the Ryzen 2X00 series of CPUs. Can anyone please confirm this?

Hi! I bought Ryzen 2700 (non x version) and have a question. I would want to OC it to 4.0-4.1GHz, 1.35-1.4V (max). I found used Freezer 33 (normal version) for the cheap. Will I be able to hit that OC with reasonable temps (max 75°C) on Freezer 33. On my case 155mm is max cooler height, and 212 EVO is 159mm , while Freezer 33 is 150mm.
-
So I am confused, there's a deal to be had on either the Ryzen 7 2700x or the 2700, the X model going fir $160 on newegg and amazon and the 2700 going for $140. After looking at some benchmarks the performance between the X and Non-X model is pretty similar. But I do get a better cooler with the 2700X, I might overclock it to get the most out of the CPU regardless the model I get, in that case, will the wraith spire be good enough for overclocking? or should I just get the X model instead. I game and stream, and sometimes edit videos.
