Am having issues with my computer where it just back screens, when the screen goes black the keyboard tuns off (lights) like if I've just shut down the computer. However everything else inside the PC is on and running lights are on and I have no idea why this is happening. This happed before I cleaned the CPU which did have some black residue on the pins, this has only started to happen recently and hasn't happened before until now. This mainly happens when I click on an application like chrome, I've installed the drivers for the GPU put a old GPU in to see if it was my GPU however the problem still persists with the other GPU. I have a feeling that it could be my CPU socket but am.not 100% on this since it's only started recently.

I have put ***s on sections that I could really use some help sorting out specific parts on. I am expecting to buy and build this rig near the end of May. Please let me know if I am throwing money in the wrong direction or if you see something I can do better! I really want my games to be able to play smoothly in the highest resolution possible, I am usually playing the newest and greatest games but am not aiming for competition or anything like that. 1. Budget & Location I do not really have a hard budget, I am trying to get the most out of my money, rather than have the most powerful thing I possibly can at this moment. 2. Aim I want to have an upper end gaming machine that I will not have to upgrade for a while. I really want to be able to jump straight into Freesync 2.0 when it becomes available, mainly due to the HDR requirement (I fully admit my understanding of this standard may be wrong) *** 3. Monitors This is my largest hang up right now. I want to have a beautiful gaming experience, I will not be gaming on any competitive level but my biggest issue with console gaming is that it just doesn't seem smooth and there is a lot of ghosting on my TV. 4. Peripherals Need a new keyboard, I still have a Razer Naga that is getting the job done 5. Why are you upgrading? My last rig died out in early 2015 and I didn't want to build another until now. My build (so far unless you all straighten me out) Ryzen 1700x Wraith Spire LED cooler Corsair Vengeance 16GB 3200mhz The 1TB HD from my previous rig The 250GB SSD from previous rig EVGA SuperNova 750w Gold (my attempt to fix what I thought was wrong with previous rig, didn't work so this is still brand new) *** Radeon 480, possibly in a crossfire setup (I have identified that I want to go with AMD for Freesync 2.0 and the 480 seems to have a good price/perf. I do not know what the difference is between all of the brands of this same GPU) *** Some motherboard (I have been looking at the Hero VI but am not sure I can justify the price) Cooler Master HAF X - I am reusing the previous case, because why not? Also, what do I do with the old components?

Hello. I am starting a new build and decided to go with ryzen 1700. I am build mainly for PC gaming, photo editing, PShoping and some random stuff besides gaming. SO i have chosen some parts already and i would like to ask your opinion: 1. CPU: Ryzen 1700 (stock cooler) 2. Motherboard: Asus prime x370-pro 3. DRAM: Corsair Vengeance LED 2 x 8 GB DDR4 3200 Mhz Further on i am planing to get: 1. AIO cooler or other air cooler just to maximize OC possibilities. 2. GPU: 1800 gtx (currently waiting for vega) Main concern i have here, that i can't chose DRAM. Is it worth getting these (Corsair Vengeance LED 2 x 8 GB DDR4 3200 Mhz), because they still don't have official support, or should i get 2800/3000 Mhz Corsair Vengeance 2 x 8 gb kit? Ok, I need advice on my ryzen 1700. I think my system is showing incorrect temperatures. My specs. Asus x370 ROG Cross hair VI hero mobo (9945 bios with AGESA 1.0.0.6) (reports same temps with bios 1221) Ryzen 1700 Overclocked to 3.9ghz 1.24 Custom water loop with D5 pump, 360 rad on push pull cooling cpu only. 960 pro m.2 EVGA G3 850 power supply G.Skill 32 GB 3200mhz 14 14 14 14 35 Ok, my ambient room temps are 23.5c (74c) and my idle cpu temps is 24c (75.2c) reported in both the bios and AMD Ryzen Master. load temps on prime95 and cinebench is 37c . Is my pc reporting false temps? How could it only be 1 degree above ambient overclocked? Is that even possible? Is there more accurate temp software?

Just wanted to let anyone else know that the AGESA update has landed. I now have my Corsair LPX 3000Mhz RAM at 3066Mhz with no problems at all, just XMP setting. So anyone that wonders if you have to buy certain RAM sticks now, you don't (with this board anyway). But I would imagine it has landed with other boards and makes too, so don't go out and buy expensive ram thinking it may not hit the stated frequency. Didn't notice if they have updated the QVL or not, but I doubt it. Now have my system back up at 3.9Ghz/1.375, RAM at 3066Mhz and SOC on stock voltage, sitting at 26C at idle right now, so about 4-6 above ambient with stock wraith cooler too... I do need to get a better cooler though for intensive tasks as it gets quite toasty (in the 80s) with a full load Hope this may be some use to someone.

Hi guys, I've been floating around for a bit, looking at other topics posted, but wanted to get another discussion going on this topic of the 1700 vs 7700k . I want to start building my rig as soon as possible, but I've been debating for weeks now on the two CPU's. Like the title says, most of my use will be single threaded applications (Sketch Up, AutoCad, adobe CC). I will be doing some light gaming , but it's not my focus. Rendering WILL be done, but only from time to time. I'll be doing some light photo / video editing as well. From what I've researched, with the articles on puget system's website, the 7700k beats Ryzen in a lot of adobe applications by 15%-20%. In terms of IPC, we all know the 7700k is better. But in terms of upgrade path, future software optimizations, CPU sockets becoming obsolete, is Ryzen perhaps still a better choice ?? With having extra cores for all around multitasking, and going with a brand new socket, will the loss in performance even matter? So many variables , which is why I still can't make a solid decision. Any input / insight will be super appreciated!

I have been thinking about building a gaming rig since a long time. Below are the things which i will be doing with this new Rig. 1. Most of the time i will be playing competitive CSGO on a 144hz monitor. 2. I will be streaming CSGO game play on YouTube or Twitch. 3. I will create CSGO related video content for my main YouTube channel. I want at least 170 fps on 1080p resolution while streaming. I know that single core performance of i7 7700k is better then r1700 but r1700 is better when it comes to streaming and video editing. I have watched many YouTube videos related to these 2 cpus but now i am really confused after watching many videos and reading reviews on Reddit (thanks to fucking biased communities) . I don't want this cpu to be a heater as well because i had really bad experience with AMD cpus in the past and at the same time i don't want to make my buy decision based on the future performance improvements (i still remember AMD'S promise when they released octa core cpu in 2012 which was never fulfilled). please help me to make the right decision because both the processors need different motherboards and if i make a wrong decision it will be a complete mesh .

Hi there. I'm planning a Ryzen build to use as both a workstation, gaming and streaming rig. I've somewhat got an idea of the components, but would like a second opinion on the list. AMD Ryzen 1700 MSI B350 TOMAHAWK Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB (2x4GB) 3000mhz WD Blue 1TB EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 Superclocked Noctua NH-U12S cooler EVGA 100-W1-0500-K3 - 500W NZXT CA-S340MB-GR Source 340 Midi Tower: I don't have much of a budget currently, but from what I've found this is my cheapest list I've been able to make.

I'm looking to build a new gaming, dev and video encoding PC this year and the Ryzen 7 1700 looks like a great option. Would the Corsair H115i AIO water cooler (280mm rad) be good enough to handle the Ryzen 7 1700? I know that Corsair is releasing AM4 brackets for their current AIO water coolers that don't already support it. I've been using AIO water coolers for years now but I don't really want to get into custom water loops just due to the maintenance. If you guys don't think that this AIO will do the trick, what AIO water cooler would you guys recommend for the new Ryzen 7 chips?

I don't do much video editing but i went with the Ryzen for three reason. 1. It's stock cooler is amazing. It has rgb lighting, it's quiet and most importantly it's not crappy. 2. When you overclock it, it's about the same as the i7 7700k. 3. It's good future-proofing. I wanted to build a pc which will last me long. The i7 is great for gaming but i'm willing to sacrifice performance a bit if it means it will last me longer, i mean 8 cores and 16 threads?! Not to mention the Ryzen 1700 does better on games which take advantage of the number of it's cores. That shows that it will probably perform better on newer games. It's still new so we have to wait for the updates and see if there is any improvement.

Hey guys! So I just upgraded my rig with the MSI B350 Tomahawk + Corsair Vengance LPX ram + R7 1700 cpu. My question is, if it's normal that my pc bootup time is veeery slow? When I turn on my pc, the system runs, fans and everything, but before anything comes on the screen it says "No signal" first and my monitor goes to sleep while my pc is still running, 10 - 15 sec later my screen detects the HDMI input and shows "HDMI 2" and then my system finally boots up with the MSI logo and so on. I have the latest BIOS version. Could this be cause because I have my HDMI cable connected to my GPU? Or is that right?

I’m stress testing a mild OC for my ryzen platform and was wonder what up with my OCCT program. It is skipping the occasional second on its timer and that makes me think that it’s unstable, but the computer seems to be running fine. Does anyone have any idea what’s up with that? I posted a question yesterday that's very simular to this, in which i was trying to get to 3.9 ghz on my Ryzen 1700. In the end i thought i'd probaly just lost the silicon lottery. So, therefore i've spent most of today trying to get a stable 3.8 ghz overlock, using ASUS's RealBench stress test with the duration at 15 minutes and the memory set at up to 16gb (thats how much ram is in my system). I wasn't able to past the RealBench test at 3.8 ghz. I've tried setting the voltage from 1.3 - 1.45 volts, setting the Load Line Calibration from Auto to Level 1 all the way through to Level 5, and setting my G-Skill Flare-X 16gb duel kit from D.O.C.P 3200 to 2400 default. I've also tried many other little settings here and there, (I can't remember them all). Yet I still can't pass the 15 minute RealBench stress test, at 16gb memory setting without crashing. Now realising that 3.8 ghz isn't possible to pass on RealBench, I then dialed the core clock down to 3.7 ghz with a reasonable voltage at 1.3 volts. And yet once again, even at 3.7ghz I cannot pass that RealBench stress test (same settings as previously) Even though this is my first time overclocking this really doesn't seem right to me, it seems like i've lost the silicon lottery x 100. But I won't give up yet. I will also provide some more information and things I tried, that may help to diagnose the issue: Motherboard: ASUS Prime X370-Pro Ram: GSkill FLare-X 3200mhz 16gb duel kit. PSU: Corsair RM850 (850watts) GPU: Geforce GTX 670 (i plan to upgrade this very soon) Latest Bios version (currently version 0807 from a usb flash drive) Memtest86 in which I passed which no errors. Disabled the 3200 D.O.C.P profile so the ram runs at the default 2400mhz speed. I did the overlocking in the BIOS and i adjusted the voltage with a + offset, rather than manual. As manual caused the cpu to clock to 1.5 ghz no matter what. ( I corrected that issue by simply using offset instead) I'm using the stock AMD Wraith Spire Cooler, which i plan to upgrade to a Noctua air cooler soon. (I'm not sure if a better cooler would get me stable at 3.7, 3.8 or 3.9ghz And the guide I used to overlock was this video on Youtube from ASUS themselves, i also read discussions on other forums. What do you guys think? Is this really bad luck, or am I doing something wrong? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Today i recieved my AMD Ryzen 7 1700 cpu from Amazon, and upon inspection of the cpu chip itself, I've noticed that the corners look damaged and scratched. Is this normal? Because to me it looks like something has pressed against the corners of the chip hard enough to leave a mark, and on one of the corners an actual cut. Here are some close up pictures of what i'm talking about. Should i request a refund from amazon or is this fine, and that it should work with no issues?

Due to recently I have done a build of a Ryzen 1700 with 16GB ram Samsung M.2 EVO 960 250GB ASRock X370 Gaming K4 and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 What is the possible that Ryzen can do a unRADI and host to Gaming rigs with minor upgrades like one more GPU and 16 more GB of RAM? If you can please give me your opinion on the matter due to in a few months I am going to upgrade and I would like to know if it is going to support such a thing. Thank you. I've managed to overlock my Ryzen 1700 CPU to 3.9 ghz at 1.45 volts on an ASUS Prime X370-Pro and with a stock AMD Wraith Spire cooler. Does this mean I have a bad CPU, and have just becomee unlucky with the silicon lottery? Or is it because I need a better cooler? I say this because, i see loads of people getting 3.9 ghz at like 1.35 volts. Ideally i would like 4.0 ghz.

Found 16gb of dominator platinum (3000mhz) for about 150 pounds on amazon and was wondering if it's worth it over regular corsair LP vengeance at same frequency as this is the cheapest iv seen it. Any thoughts are welcome thanks !

I'm looking to upgrade my pc in the next few days as my motherboard has stopped working. My budget is $1000 AUD for the upgrade but I would like to save money if possible. My goal is too run Overwatch with 250+ fps on all low settings whilst streaming too twitch using obs. (I dont really mind what quality the stream is as long as its watchable) I would like to over clock (I have never over clocked before) The parts that im keeping are: EVGA GeForce GTX 970 4GB ACX 2.0 NZXT S340 Corsair CX 600W 80+ Bronze And my two monitors (1 is 60hz, 1 is 144hz) My planned parts for the upgrade are: AMD - Ryzen 7 1700 ASRock X370 Taichi ATX AM4 Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory Also if there is anything that would help to improve ping that would also help. Right I'm posting yet another question on the Ryzen 1700. (Hopefully the last) So I've come to the conclusion that I want to refund my Ryzen 1700. No matter what I do i can't get 3.8ghz stable with Prime 95 or ASUS RealBench. If the voltage is below 1.375 the PC crashes during stress tests, and if it's 1.375 or above the CPU overheats. So anything between 1.3 - 1.4 is unstable at 3.8ghz. I've played around with LLC and all sorts but nothing works. The best I can get is 3.7ghz and thats's a struggle because i have to set the LLC to level 5 else it crashes. Even with a better cooler I really doubt i can do much better. It looks like i'm one of the very unlucky few according to these stats from the 'silicon lottery'. Ryzen 7 1700 93% reach 3.8GHz @ 1.376V 70% reach 3.9GHz @ 1.408V 20% reach 4.0GHz @ 1.440V If you want to see the ram voltage, motherboard, cooler and other important info, check out my other question here, as i go into great detail about my setup and configuration. So the question is, should i try and return my 1700? Maybe i can try another Ryzen 1700 and maybe get a better overlock, or get my money back. And is this even a good excuse to return it? I bought it off Amazon if you're wondering. It may seem like i'm just whining which is a reasonable assessment, but i refuse to be fucked over, i don't even mind if I don't win the silicon lottery, i just don't want to lose it. Especially when I see everyone else around me getting 3.8ghz easily with the stock cooler. First of all, I want to note, that I've checked out this thread: PC specs: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/thhsQV Please note, that I got the stock cooler for the CPU I've also clocked CPU to 3.3GHz, running 3.29GHz Not sure I've seen it run much higher than 40% CPU usage, with the exception of benchmarks. Warframe: Although disabling HPET worked, to some extent; I'm still never reaching in 80%+ GPU usage, when in-game. (usually hovers on 40-60% gpu usage, with around 1,2gb vram usage.) There are two exceptions: The first is login screen, where I get 500~ish FPS, 99%gpu usage; and similarly, the second, is when I'm in loading screen, and someone else is hosting, I get up to 700 FPS,99% gpu usage. (Guessing, that this is because, some sort of limiter is off, and/or lowered settings/less to render.) Dark souls 3, is probably the one that's doing the, worst on my setup, since it hitches quite often, and quite badly... Also even if it says I'm 58-60 fps, it's not consistently timed; hence, even if the fps is correct, it's mini hitches most of the time. (Say 45fps in the first half second, then 15fps then the last half, just as an example; I've not tested, the consistency, because I can see it's not consistent.) What I've tried: Overclocking GPU/CPU (individually & together) Testing to see, if GPU auto throttles due to low wattage/not enough power; it doesn't as it works on 99% some games, that are more HW intensive (Tested CoD AW + filling memory settings, no problem, runs at 99% quite stable.) Nvidia Power settings, fiddling around with sync, & other settings: No difference. Disabled, and I deleted HPET (Enabled using more than 40% of GPU.) (I think, I deleted it, said so in Powershell window.) Drivers should be up to date; if not, the pc is just 2-3 months old, got it the 28/29th of July, I think it was. (Installed all, of the newest drivers, when I got it; so if they're not the newest, they're relatively new.) Everything is connected properly, in the right slots. Tried other games, only other I've found any similar problems with, is League of Legends, where FPS starts out 220-250, then drops to 100-120 after a few minutes. (GPU usage start out at 30-35%, then drops down to 15-25%) Tried benchmarking, GPU uses 99%, and got good results. Using genuine Win10 Pro, 64bit (Only because win7 doesn't support M.2 NMVe drives, and being used to windows + I've heard Linux has just gotten Dx9/Dx11, from a Linux user; can't remember which.) Tested Dark Souls 3, on max settings, averaging out on 45% gpu usage, topped on 55%, about 3,1gb vram usage. I'm also getting a lot of hitches, ruining gameplay; considering dodging & similar, becoming hard to time. (Also aware of the 60 FPS limit of the game, although this is still no excuse for the hitching.) Looked for VT-d settings in BIOS, did not find any Tested Nier: Automata, got 80%+ gpu usage, around 4gb vram usage, occasional fps drop, on maxed settings. (Usually 90%+ gpu usage) Overwatch works like a charm, even on maxed settings, getting 90%+ gpu usage, & 150-180 frames on "epic" settings, w/ 100% texture scaling. The tests, that I ran, to check GPU usage percentages, I ran on default clock speeds (1506MHz GPU clock, 2002MHz mem clock.) (Says 1835MHz, on core clock, under sensors tab, in GPU-z) Have yet, to see my GPU, go over 65 Celsius, and my CPU over 68-70 Celsius What I haven't tested: Underclocking PC Disabling VT-d (Since I couldn't find it anywhere.) Disconnecting extra monitors, via plugging out cables. (Although secondary screen wasn't plugged in for 2-3 weeks; before getting extra cable for, so ran without it for a while.) Secondary screen for browser + monitoring GPU/CPU, 3rd screen is TV. (For viewing stuff/playing with controller; is usually off.) All 3 monitors are 60Hz, but some games have other bonuses by running higher FPS. Random picture, of small ds3 hitch + HW monitoring. (Had far worse hitches, but hard catching them on print screen.) Edit: Forgot to add cpu temp into HW monitor.
