  1. Budget (including currency): Free Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Games/Studies/Editing videos Other details: My friend giving me a Ryzen 7 2700. I have a working Ryzen 1700 on stock clocks and Masterliquid Lite 120 AIO, motherboard I'm using is GA-AB350-Gaming 3 (on Bios F25) with Corsair vengeance(2400 mhz xmp) dual channel 16GB, Gpu is Rtx 2060. Windows 10 Professional (1909). With the latest nvidia, realtek audio, Lan drivers. Except the chipset driver which is amd_software_2.03.12.0657 (the one before the current one). How should I proceed do you think? Set Bios to default values, shut down, take out battery. Then apply thermal paste (3 year old Mx-4 tube) and install cpu. But do I uninstall the drivers, shut down then do these steps? Or install cpu and clean re-install drivers once/(if) it boots into win 10? Thank you in advance. Any help is really appreciated.
  2. Hello everyone! I hope you had nice holidays! I have been annoyed by this 100% disk usage for a year now and I am completely sick of it! I have read every article, reddit post and even LTT's posts on it with no solution. The computer Will lag upon using anything on one source and result in a random and weird 100% disk usage e.g: SSD (O.S + Most applications) HDD (Games) using chrome on the SSD won't cause the lag but playing a game WILL spike the disk usage. I have 2 HDDs, 1 M2 and two SSDs. At first I thought it was the HDD that was the problem but I was wrong. The reason is I switched SATA ports for both, resulted in a very long booting time (Up to 5 minutes) and using any application on the SSD or the HDD will return with a 100% disk usage. I kept doing that until the it booted fast and I tried the HDD and it was the same as the first case. I bought a 960EVO 1TB SSD this Christmas and low and behold...the same problem on the brand new SSD. It is not the HDD then. What is the problem then? I googled everything with no real solution. I disabled SuperFetch, modified Microsoft AHCPI controllers. Tried many things in the BIOS. The only time it works is when I unplug everything except the O.S SSD. Throughout all of that time researching I have noticed a few common things with this issue, I will list them for you guys. 1- The spikes happen randomly, and they freeze the entire PC. 2- 100% disk usage with 0 reads and writes, I tried Resource Monitor...same poop different toilet. 3- Sometimes, switching SATA ports constantly might solve it temporarily, however; it will come back! 4- This problem is mostly common with X370 chipsets so far, at least from what I have seen from all the posts I had. My specs: * Ryzen 1700 @3.0GHz * 32GBs of Ram @ 2800MHz * Kingston UV400 SSD 256GBs (O.S), two WD Blacks HDDs 2TB and 500GBs, Samsung 850 M.2 500GBs * GTX 1080 FE 8GBs * MSI X370 GAMING PRO * Windows 10 64 bit 1909 (Latest Update) if anyone can help this I would be grateful.
  3. Looking for advice guys, i have been using a ryzen 1700 and a 980ti for a few years now and I have been more than happy, however I have been frustrated with my 1080p frame rates especially in ubisoft games. I am looking to gain 15 20 fps but i can only replace my GPU or CPU. The main use for my PC is commercial photography and stop motion so gaming is secondary but i still love to game. Where would I see the biggest gains Ryzen 3600 or GPU around £300 budget.
  4. Hi. For a year now, i have been gaming on a R7 1700+gtx 1060 computer, and it has been awesome. But recently i noticed that cpu performance is not that great on non heavily multi-threaded games like farcry and crysis series. . So i started testing my system and found that on on a fresh boot, cpu-z benchmark results (@ stock settings) are: 405 p. for single thread and 4003 p. for multi thread, but as soon as i start the steam client, even if it reports cpu usage under 1% in the task manager, my cpu-z results get down to: 362 p. for single thread and 3870 p. for multi thread. That is a 10% and 6% performance loss respectively, but more important, i have determined this as the cause for the stuttering present in the games mentioned earlier. If i limit steam.exe, steamservice.exe and steamwebhelper.exe to use only one thread via "set affinity" in the task manager, i seem to recover half of the performance lost, and stuttering in games is significantly reduced but not totally eliminated. It seems that even if the steam client is not been heavily used or even it is minimized to the system tray, somehow it still prevents the cpu from boosting itself and reach maximum performance. i have tried closing the steam client after launching the games but it does not work all the times as most games require the client to be running for them to function properly, i have also tried disabling stream and broadcasting options in the settings menu, i do not use any skin or big screen mode, and try to keep my system free of any background processes. I have replicated this behavior on another pc with an old i5 3550 but intel processors do not seem to be affected as much as amds since performance loss is around 5% for single threaded and under 2% for multi threaded in the i5. Maybe someone can help me find a definitive solution or at least recover a bit more of performance. Thanks.
  5. After months of saving up money and sending back parts that didn't work (Ryzen is super picky about memory, I've learned the hard way, as explained below), my baby is finally done. CPU - AMD Ryzen 1700 @ 3.7GHz, 1.35v CPU Cooler - Cooler Master 120 MasterLiquid Lite Motherboard - Asrock X370 Gaming ITX/AC GPU - MSI GTX 1070 Ti Titanium 8G Memory - 16GB Corsair Dominator Platinum 3000MHz (Running at 2800MHz, more on that down below) Storage - Primary: Western Digital Black 256GB PCIe SSD, Secondary/Mass Storage: Seagate 2TB ST2000DM006 Power Supply - EVGA SuperNova 550W G2 Case - In Win 301 RGB Lighting - Corsair Lighting Node Pro Peripherals: Keyboard - Corsair K55 Mouse - Corsair M65 Pro Monitors - Two Acer 1080p Displays (The model numbers escape me at the moment, and I don't want to crane my neck to check them) So as the title states, this is a powerhouse stuffed into a rather small case. Now, it's not a Cooler Master Elite 110, but it's still a rather small space for all that power (and heat). I'll give my thoughts about each part below and the rationale for buying each one. But, if you're just here for the pictures and benchmarks, I totally understand, I like to talk a lot. Plus, pictures are nice to look at. Disclaimer: I am not sponsored by any of the vendors/reviewers in this post. Anything and everything you read is purely my opinion and these parts just happen to be the ones I bought and I ended up being happy with. Also, I don't touch on the peripherals, since they weren't my main concern. I included them anyway in case any of you were curious. CPU - Yes, yes, the Ryzen 7 1700 isn't the best CPU for gaming. "You should've gone with an R5 1600, or even better, an 8600K!" When I purchased the Ryzen 7 1700 (about two months ago), there wasn't an i5 8600K in sight. If it was, it was way overpriced on some eBay scalper's store, and I wasn't about to pay him/her $400 for it. So, I went for the 1700, confident in its ability to do the heavy lifting and some gaming tasks. I went with a 1700 because I wanted the extra power to be there if I wanted to; I occasionally edit a video here and there for friends (school projects and whatnot) and I love having a beefy processor there when needed. Sure, I'll lose a few FPS here and there in games compared to a Ryzen 5 1600 or an 8600K, but it honestly doesn't bother me too much. The Cooler Master 120 MasterLiquid Lite performs well within expectations, temperatures never got over 55 degrees while playing GTA V. I overclocked only to 3.7 GHz because I was running into stability issues. 3.8 GHz was working for a while, but when restarting my system, it failed to post and I had to clear CMOS, so dialing it back seemed to fix it. Regardless, it performs fantastically, as you'll see in the benchmark screenshots later on. Not to mention, it's an eight-core processor, and we all know the more cores you have, the bigger your penis. *Laughs nervously* GPU - The MSI GTX 1070 Ti is indeed a monster and rivals the 1080 when overclocked, and that's why I sprung for it. Why not a 1080? Well, when I bought my GPU a few months ago, prices were inconsistent (and still are thanks to cryptocurrency, I bought it just in time), so a 1080 cost around $550-600 on Amazon and the 1070 Ti cost around $475, so I figured I'd buy the 1070 Ti and overclock the stuffing out of it to get 1080 performance, and it's worked out pretty well, if you ask me. I have stock 1080 performance at around a $100 savings, and I'm rather pleased. It's overclocked with a +200MHz offset on the core and a +150 offset on the memory using MSI Afterburner. I went for the MSI variant of this card for a few reasons, but mostly because it has a beefy cooler and it looks really good, IMO. Temperatures stay well within check; they capped out at 72 degrees while benchmarking in Firestrike, and rarely reach that during actual gameplay. It's a good deal for a powerful graphics card, but I'd wait for the cryptocurrency hype to die down before buying any graphics card (assuming it does die down anytime soon). Motherboard - The Asrock X370 Gaming ITX/AC motherboard was the first part I bought for this build a few months back and was really what set the whole small form factor train in motion for me. It overclocks well and is a pretty good looking board in general. The M.2 slot on the back of the board really came in handy in my case (heh, get it, case?), due to the limited amount of real estate I have for drives. In fact, that slot was the reason why I got an M.2 SSD in the first place. If it sounds like I based most of my decisions of this motherboard, well, yes, I did. Remember, it was the first part I bought, so a lot of decisions had to be made with this board in mind. One of those decisions I should've kept in mind is the memory, as I'll explain below. Memory - "Ryzen is very picky about memory, and you need to check your motherboard's QVL before selecting memory." *Sigh* This is what I get for not listening. Now in my defense, the Corsair Vengeance 3200MHz RAM I was going to use came from my old build, so I figured why would I buy new memory if I had 16GB of perfectly good RAM right here? Not to mention, I bought this memory when it was insanely cheap, around $90 for the 16GB kit. It didn't work. For one reason or another, the system wouldn't post with the Vengeance memory. So, as you might imagine, I was deeply disappointed when I had all my parts and found out that Ryzen was all "meh" with my memory. Well, whatever, I guess, I'll get some new memory. *A few weeks later, after selling the Vengeance Memory and buying the Dominator Platinum kit* The Corsair Dominator Platinum 3000MHz 16GB kit looks amazing and performs amazing, for the most part. For some reason, my memory won't go past 2800MHz (or at least, I couldn't be bothered at the moment to push it past that speed). Pushing it to 2993MHz causes instability, from what I could tell. Back when I mentioned the system not posting with the 3.8 GHz CPU overclock, I also dialed back the memory speed, just in case. I probably could push it back to 2993MHz, but for now, I'm content with its current speed. So remember kids, check your motherboard's QVL before buying memory, or prepare to be sorely disappointed on the day you go to build your system. Storage - This is my first time with a PCIe SSD, and it's a lovely experience, to say the least. Fast load times, snappy response times, all that good stuff. Crystal disk mark shows its read speeds going over 1500MB/s and write speeds peaking at about 700MB/s. No, it's not the fastest PCIe SSD out there, but it's faster than my old RAID 0 setup with two 128GB SATA SSDs, so I'm happy. I got it off Amazon for about $95, so the lower price was also a factor in choosing this part. It's not big enough to store any games (well, maybe one, but it'll take up a good chunk of space), but it's plenty big enough for Windows and a few other programs. I plan on getting a 1TB SATA SSD for speedier storage, but for now, it does the job and does it well. Seagate 2TB ST2000DM006 - Well, there's not too much to say about an old-fashioned spinning platter disk these days, huh? I mean, it performs as you would expect for a 7200RPM disk: slow. And of course, that's what it's meant to do: be slow, but hold a whack-ton of games and whatnot, and that's exactly what it does. It doesn't show off or anything like that, no RGB (although, that would be pretty cool. Get on it, Linus). It punches in, does its job, and punches out. Simple, reliable, and huge. Hard drives aren't too complicated to choose, just pick a reliable brand, such as Western Digital or Seagate, and you're golden. Power Supply - The rationale for a hard drive is more or less the same for me when it comes to a power supply: pick a reliable brand that has enough wattage for your system. With that logic in mind, we come to the EVGA SuperNova 550W G2. There's not too much I can say about it since I'm not an expert on power supplies, but it does the job. It has more than enough power for my system and it's a reliable brand with a lengthy warranty, so I have nothing to worry about. Jonny Guru gave it a stellar review, and that was one of the key factors in my decision; it earned a perfect score, so I bought it with confidence. Not to mention, it being modular made it so fewer cables had to be shoved back into the case, so cable management was a little bit less of a hassle. Case - Now, I'll be honest. The In Win 301 wasn't my first choice in case. I originally went with a Corsair Carbide Series Air 240, since I liked the look, and it was designed for airflow, which is problematic in smaller cases. But, there was a problem. The MSI GTX 1070 Ti Titanium is a large card, but I was confident it would fit in the case. It didn't. So, some "modifications" weren't enough to coax the graphics card into fitting into the case, and even if it did, the PCIe supplementary power cables wouldn't let the front panel shut with them plugged in any way. So, I gave up and bought the In Win. Now, that's not to say the In Win 301 is by any means a compromise, because it certainly isn't. For $70, it's a stellar case, with its tempered glass side panel and rigid construction. In fact, I'm glad I went with it over the Corsair. The Corsair case feels considerably more cheap than the In Win, with its plastic panels and plexiglass window, despite costing more than the In Win. With airflow, temps did stay in check, as previously mentioned, so it ended up not being too much of a concern for me. But, if you're rocking more powerful hardware than me, airflow is definitely something to strongly consider. Speaking of hardware, if you plan on building a NAS in here, well, look elsewhere. The In Win 301 only has one 3.5 inch hard drive bay, and two mounting spots for 2.5-inch SSDs. And that's it. Of course, you could always throw a 10Gb networking card in a spare PCIe slot and connect to a NAS, but that's not exactly cost effective for most people, as you could imagine. I highly recommend getting a motherboard with an M.2 slot and utilizing that in order to save a precious hard drive slot for later upgrades. With it being a small case, cable management was a chore, as expected. Personally, I only make it look pretty if people are gonna see it; the back of the case is currently a rat's nest. I know, I know, it's a computer building sin, but time is a precious thing, and work/school is what usually consumes it (I wrote this entire thing over the span of a few days, thanks to those factors). HardwareCanucks has a great review of this case and pretty much was the deciding factor in me buying this case and is definitely worth a watch. Overall, it's a great little case and it sits nicely on the table next to my desk. This system is a good balance of gaming prowess and workstation heavy lifting. The Ryzen 7 1700 can plow through just about any workload with ease, and the MSI GTX 1070 Ti 8G can throw frames out faster than a pissed off artist. The Corsair Dominator Platinum memory is rock solid stable (I'll update this if I do get it back to 2993 MHz), not to mention is works with Ryzen, which is a plus. PCIe storage is snappy and uber responsive, and the 2TB hard drive can hold just about anything for my needs. The Asrock X370 Gaming ITX/AC was the perfect motherboard, being reliable, and a great little overclocker. The EVGA SuperNova 550W G2 will keep powering this beast of a little system for years to come, and will probably be used even after the rest of the system reaches its expiration date. And last, but certainly not least, the In Win 301 houses the hardware and looks good doing it. Sure, it's on the small side, but for its stellar looks, the $70 price tag is well worth it. This system will serve me well for the next few years and will grow along the way. It's a fantastic system and I can't wait to see what I can do with it.
  6. Hello. I have a problem. After i oc my ram and run aida 64 for an hour i shut down my pc and when i boot ram was in stock speed (2133mhz). Now i dont know what to do. And yes i safe bios settings.
  7. Dear Linus Tech Tips. I have being following your channel for while now. And as the title 2 Gaming Rigs 1 that you did on one of your videos I was wondering. Due to recently I have done a build of a Ryzen 1700 with 16GB ram Samsung M.2 EVO 960 250GB ASRock X370 Gaming K4 and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 What is the possible that Ryzen can do a unRADI and host to Gaming rigs with minor upgrades like one more GPU and 16 more GB of RAM? If you can please give me your opinion on the matter due to in a few months I am going to upgrade and I would like to know if it is going to support such a thing. Thank you. Keep up the good work and best of wishes.
  8. Hi there. I'm planning a Ryzen build to use as both a workstation, gaming and streaming rig. I've somewhat got an idea of the components, but would like a second opinion on the list. AMD Ryzen 1700 MSI B350 TOMAHAWK Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB (2x4GB) 3000mhz WD Blue 1TB EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 Superclocked Noctua NH-U12S cooler EVGA 100-W1-0500-K3 - 500W NZXT CA-S340MB-GR Source 340 Midi Tower: I don't have much of a budget currently, but from what I've found this is my cheapest list I've been able to make.
  9. Hi everyone! So with the help of black Friday sales I upgraded my old PC (i5 760 OC to 4.1, GTX 650) to new ryzen 1700 and GTX 1060. Basically I upgraded/changed everything I had in my old system except of the case, PSU and a couple of HDDs. But now I'm encountering a problem: while testing stability of my overclock - after about 15 minutes to half an hour my system just suddenly shuts down. I am doing AIDA64 stress test (everything except local discs and GPU) and Furmark simultaneously. It does fine, temperatures look fine as well, but then it just shuts down. When I am doing tests individually - everything works perfectly fine again. Can it be an issue of my old 500w power supply not being able to cope with such loads? I remember it not being a particularly expensive one, but at the same time it wasn't the cheapest one. Sadly I can't provide you with any information about it because all of the stickers have already fallen of. But it was doing fine for almost 6 years I would say, in my old system. P.S. GTX 1060 is also overclocked to +150 on the GPU and +446 on memory (ZOTAC AMP! Edition) sadly can't remember the exact clock speeds right now, so only the offset. Power Target is 116%. Ryzen 1700 is OCd to 3.7 on all cores at voltage I also can't remember right now, but it is quite adequate. Thank you for your time reading it and your help! P.P.S. cooler master PSU calculater shows about 470-480 watts of peak load, but every other piece of information suggests that 500w should be plenty
  10. I wanted to try an 8 core ryzen before ryzen 3000 so i changed my ryzen 2600X (4.1ghz) to a ryzen 1700 at 3.9ghz I know from a review i read after i bought the mb, that the vrm can get pretty hot on my msi x370 gaming pro carbon i also bought since i somehow had problems with my x470 mb. New msi mb can get pretty toasty oc'ed to 4ghz https://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/8175/msi-x370-gaming-pro-carbon-motherboard-review/index10.html Anything under 60C is great, 60-80C is acceptable, and anything above 80C is a bit worrisome (if at stock). So fare so good since i keep my ryzen 1700 at 3.9ghz. Max temperature under prime 95 can get above 80c but it's oc'ed and has so much power i won't need it when i game on a 1080p 144hz monitor with a factory oced asus rtx 2060 strix. My case is a define r6 with 2x140 mm fans, 1 on the front bottom as intake an 1 as a rear exhaust fan close to the i/o panel, in the front there's a coolermaster Masterliquid lite 240 with 2 scythe mugen 5 fans. case fans runnging at 600 rpm and cpu fans just under 450 rpm and doing it even when temps are 60c in prime 95 small fft raising to 63 ish at a time of the day where it's not hot (pretty good). Questions Would a 120mm fan in the top of my case with the top and fan filter on running at very low rpm, do anything for my vrm? Low rpm an with the top on for silence. One intake fan at the top and close to it an exhaust fan, that won't do much for my vrm, since most of the air from the top is sucked out of my pc before it reaches the vrm ? ? ? I have tried lowering and lowering the vcore to an extend i never thought possible, from 152watt to 120watt or somewhere above 1.300 volt down to 1.200 volt peaking at 1.216 volt. Did i won the silicone lottery ? https://valid.x86.fr/v0vt72 https://siliconlottery.com/pages/statistics
  11. This is my first custom mod so it isn't going to be perfect. Here we go.... I got a desk from ikea a while back my pc sat under it and there was a mass of cables and not much room. I kept looking at the shelves I have triple monitors so both are partially blocked so I decided to build my pc in to it
  12. I've managed to overlock my Ryzen 1700 CPU to 3.9 ghz at 1.45 volts on an ASUS Prime X370-Pro and with a stock AMD Wraith Spire cooler. Does this mean I have a bad CPU, and have just becomee unlucky with the silicon lottery? Or is it because I need a better cooler? I say this because, i see loads of people getting 3.9 ghz at like 1.35 volts. Ideally i would like 4.0 ghz.
  13. Ok, I need advice on my ryzen 1700. I think my system is showing incorrect temperatures. My specs. Asus x370 ROG Cross hair VI hero mobo (9945 bios with AGESA 1.0.0.6) (reports same temps with bios 1221) Ryzen 1700 Overclocked to 3.9ghz 1.24 Custom water loop with D5 pump, 360 rad on push pull cooling cpu only. 960 pro m.2 EVGA G3 850 power supply G.Skill 32 GB 3200mhz 14 14 14 14 35 Ok, my ambient room temps are 23.5c (74c) and my idle cpu temps is 24c (75.2c) reported in both the bios and AMD Ryzen Master. load temps on prime95 and cinebench is 37c . Is my pc reporting false temps? How could it only be 1 degree above ambient overclocked? Is that even possible? Is there more accurate temp software?
  14. Just wanted to let anyone else know that the AGESA update has landed. I now have my Corsair LPX 3000Mhz RAM at 3066Mhz with no problems at all, just XMP setting. So anyone that wonders if you have to buy certain RAM sticks now, you don't (with this board anyway). But I would imagine it has landed with other boards and makes too, so don't go out and buy expensive ram thinking it may not hit the stated frequency. Didn't notice if they have updated the QVL or not, but I doubt it. Now have my system back up at 3.9Ghz/1.375, RAM at 3066Mhz and SOC on stock voltage, sitting at 26C at idle right now, so about 4-6 above ambient with stock wraith cooler too... I do need to get a better cooler though for intensive tasks as it gets quite toasty (in the 80s) with a full load Hope this may be some use to someone.
  15. Hello everyone, I have recently purchased a new Ryzen based build. And I would like to ask for your best guess or advise on what might be wrong. The problem is: I have been getting random black screen crashes. The screen goes black with "no signal". The CPU and case fans keep running, all software sounds stop. Holding power button or pressing reset does nothing, I have to turn the PSU off and on. The system is in stock settings (no OC). When does the problem occur: Randomly. Most of the times it happens when browsing the internet or at almost "idle" states. I have found that it is more likely to happen after stress testing the system (very rarely it occurred while actually stress testing). It also seems that running monitoring software like hwinfo makes it more probable to occur. I have tried: Updated bios to newest version (multiple times). Reinstalled windows. Replaced the motherboard (with the same model). Swapping RAM sticks (have not yet tried a new set of RAM). Tried not using any monitoring software (it seems, that this helps a little. I have had only 1 crash per week since not using hwinfo. Opposed to 1 crash every two days when using it. But it might be just a coincidence, because the problem does not occur evenly throughout the week). Using windows ryzen power plan. Increasing voltage of RAM and CPU manually UPDATE: Increasing the RAM voltage (problem still present) UPDATE: Increasing the CPU voltage (problem still present) UPDATE: Disconnecting and reconnecting all power cables (problem still present) UPDATE: Uninstalling AURA and AI suite (problem still present) UPDATE: Disable core boosting and SMT (problem still present) UPDATE: Setting DOCP on RAM (the lowest possible) (problem still present) System info (everything stock, no OC): CPU: Ryzen 1700X MB: ASUS ROG STRIX X370-F RAM: Patriot Viper 16GB 3000Mhz CL16 (2 sticks) PSU: Corsair RM550X GPU: NVIDIA GT710 SSD: Patriot flare 120GB SSD (System) HDD: Multiple WD blue/red HDDs CPU Cooler: Arctic freezer 33 System: Windows 10 64 bit The only thing I have changed in BIOS is enabling virtualization, because most of the time I have to work in my VM Linux environment. I have no idea what could it be. My best guess is PSU or RAM incompatibility. But before I will buy a new PSU or RAM sticks I would like to ask for your help. Thanks everyone for any advise. And sorry for my bad english.
  16. I recently build my first PC and the process was smooth. However, there's a small issue with the CPU fan going at ridiculous speeds even though it shouldn't. The games I play aren't very demanding and my CPU never goes over 40 degrees celsius when I game, so it seems a bit weird to me that my CPU fan goes up to 1300 RPM and often 2700 RPM. I'm using the AMD Ryzen 1700 with the stock cooler and the Asus ROG Strix B350-F motherboard. I've tried manually setting the fan speed curve in BIOS to go to full speed when it's 60 degrees celsius or above (otherwise only at 35% of max speed when under). It doesn't seem to work though. I have to restart my PC in order to fix this. Is there a way to control the fans manually while you're in Windows? I can't turn off my PC every time this happens (and it happens every time I game).
  17. Hey guys! Just asking a question following the Ryzen 7 1700 Stock Cooler the Wraith SPIRE to make sure that when I am building my PC everything goes to plan. Does the stock cooler come pre applied with thermal paste or heat sink compound. Just wanted to make sure because I was digging on the web and couldn't find much dirt on the topic. Also, with the rgb feature of the cooler is there some way I can hook two RGB components to one header on the motherboard since I was thinking of buying some LED strips to run across the bottom of the case. Thanks for the Help.
  18. I'm trying to build about a 700-800$ build and am in the final stages of choosing everything... The only problem is, Ryzen 2600 comes out mid april and that's 200$ compared to Ryzen 1600's 150ish (includes with rebate). If I go for the Ryzen 1600, I could probably manage to get a GTX 1060, however if I go for the the 2600, I'll be able to max out at a 1050Ti if I'm lucky. What should I go for?
  19. hello all- i buy ryzen 1700 and asus crosshair VI hero mobo, and crucial elite ram. but i have a small problem. this cpu is not good overclocker. i read that some off you get 3.8ghz at 1.25v or even lower. but my cpu for this oc needs like 1.41v and llc on level 2 and soc voltage at 1.15. i want to know if is safe to have chip at auto voltage for 24/7 usage? is stable and when is strest voltage drop to 1.375. thanks for help
  20. hello, i want to know at which pace to look ta occt shows the temp that is SYSTIN AMD masters shows package which one is right? OCCT temp was the same as hwmonitor SYSTIN temp i have a Ryzen 7 1700
  21. Help with finding RAM for a Ryzen 1700 build: CPU: Ryzen 7 1700 Mobo: ASrock AB350m Pro 4 GPU: EVGA GTX 1050 This build is a workstation, mainly for audio production, with some video and image editing. Light gaming. I keep finding G.Skill Flare X as the best 16gb 3200 ddr4 kit that will work at 3200 out of the box. Will it even work at 3200 with my board, or is it okay to look at other compatible brands in the 2400-2666+ range 16-32gb to work with my board and ryzen 1700? Is it a huge jump in productivity from 2x8 16gb 3200 ddr4 flare x to 32gb 2400+ corsair for audio production? I saw 32gb ripjaws for $230, but not sure at all if I should stick to the 16gb flare x... Any help would be awesome. Thanks
  22. First of all, I want to note, that I've checked out this thread: PC specs: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/thhsQV Please note, that I got the stock cooler for the CPU I've also clocked CPU to 3.3GHz, running 3.29GHz Not sure I've seen it run much higher than 40% CPU usage, with the exception of benchmarks. Warframe: Although disabling HPET worked, to some extent; I'm still never reaching in 80%+ GPU usage, when in-game. (usually hovers on 40-60% gpu usage, with around 1,2gb vram usage.) There are two exceptions: The first is login screen, where I get 500~ish FPS, 99%gpu usage; and similarly, the second, is when I'm in loading screen, and someone else is hosting, I get up to 700 FPS,99% gpu usage. (Guessing, that this is because, some sort of limiter is off, and/or lowered settings/less to render.) Dark souls 3, is probably the one that's doing the, worst on my setup, since it hitches quite often, and quite badly... Also even if it says I'm 58-60 fps, it's not consistently timed; hence, even if the fps is correct, it's mini hitches most of the time. (Say 45fps in the first half second, then 15fps then the last half, just as an example; I've not tested, the consistency, because I can see it's not consistent.) What I've tried: Overclocking GPU/CPU (individually & together) Testing to see, if GPU auto throttles due to low wattage/not enough power; it doesn't as it works on 99% some games, that are more HW intensive (Tested CoD AW + filling memory settings, no problem, runs at 99% quite stable.) Nvidia Power settings, fiddling around with sync, & other settings: No difference. Disabled, and I deleted HPET (Enabled using more than 40% of GPU.) (I think, I deleted it, said so in Powershell window.) Drivers should be up to date; if not, the pc is just 2-3 months old, got it the 28/29th of July, I think it was. (Installed all, of the newest drivers, when I got it; so if they're not the newest, they're relatively new.) Everything is connected properly, in the right slots. Tried other games, only other I've found any similar problems with, is League of Legends, where FPS starts out 220-250, then drops to 100-120 after a few minutes. (GPU usage start out at 30-35%, then drops down to 15-25%) Tried benchmarking, GPU uses 99%, and got good results. Using genuine Win10 Pro, 64bit (Only because win7 doesn't support M.2 NMVe drives, and being used to windows + I've heard Linux has just gotten Dx9/Dx11, from a Linux user; can't remember which.) Tested Dark Souls 3, on max settings, averaging out on 45% gpu usage, topped on 55%, about 3,1gb vram usage. I'm also getting a lot of hitches, ruining gameplay; considering dodging & similar, becoming hard to time. (Also aware of the 60 FPS limit of the game, although this is still no excuse for the hitching.) Looked for VT-d settings in BIOS, did not find any Tested Nier: Automata, got 80%+ gpu usage, around 4gb vram usage, occasional fps drop, on maxed settings. (Usually 90%+ gpu usage) Overwatch works like a charm, even on maxed settings, getting 90%+ gpu usage, & 150-180 frames on "epic" settings, w/ 100% texture scaling. The tests, that I ran, to check GPU usage percentages, I ran on default clock speeds (1506MHz GPU clock, 2002MHz mem clock.) (Says 1835MHz, on core clock, under sensors tab, in GPU-z) Have yet, to see my GPU, go over 65 Celsius, and my CPU over 68-70 Celsius What I haven't tested: Underclocking PC Disabling VT-d (Since I couldn't find it anywhere.) Disconnecting extra monitors, via plugging out cables. (Although secondary screen wasn't plugged in for 2-3 weeks; before getting extra cable for, so ran without it for a while.) Secondary screen for browser + monitoring GPU/CPU, 3rd screen is TV. (For viewing stuff/playing with controller; is usually off.) All 3 monitors are 60Hz, but some games have other bonuses by running higher FPS. Random picture, of small ds3 hitch + HW monitoring. (Had far worse hitches, but hard catching them on print screen.) Edit: Forgot to add cpu temp into HW monitor.
  23. I want to overclock Ryzen 7 (1700) to 4Ghz, but I'm worried about Voltage and delivered temps. So, lets try to make statistic look. What is your overclocking frequency, what voltage keeps you system stable and what temperatures do you get? Please fill online form to provide your overclocking information -> https://goo.gl/forms/JD23EJvcIsvuESPB3
  24. Hi guys, first time posting here so please bear with me. I'm wondering which of the two processors (Intel Core i5-8600K or AMD Ryzen 1700) is best for game development? I'm planning to use it with Unity, Blender and maybe another graphic rendering tool. Thanks!!!
  25. I'm having that "seems too good to be true" feeling. I have an entire thread on reddit dedicated to my first OC which only I am replying to. It's pretty lonely in there, so now I'm here. I'll just get straight to it. CPU: Ryzen 1700 (OC 3.85ghz at 1.35v) RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200mhz CL16 (OC 2933mhz at 1.25v) MOBO: Gigabyte AX370 Aorus Gaming K7 BIOS: F20 I documented some stuff and took BIOS screenshots. https://imgur.com/a/wIP0GaZ Everything is on default except what's shown. I just need someone to tell me if I forgot anything that'll turn my computer into a fireplace overnight. Also check my voltages please. I set dynamic SOC to the lowest possible and I'm assuming that puts it on 0.95v to 1.1v range. Playing it super safe with voltages. Note that this is a 24/7 build.
