Hey guys, I've been using an RTX 3090 for a while now but recently it's been acting rather strange. When not being pushed it runs perfectly fine, however, when I begin to max it out it starts lagging every other application I have open. I use a lot of creative applications with live rendering, but these programs would never lag my other programs before, and would only use the resources available to them. Now it seems that they are taking compute power from other more essential processes. I'm not sure what changed either, as I was not having this issue just a week ago. This makes creative workflows incredibly difficult as even my mouse begins to lag. I have updated my drivers but have had no luck. My bios is up to date and I have restarted the computer multiple times. Nothing seems to work. PC specs: Nvidia RTX 3090 Ryzen 7950x3D ASRock X670E Taichi G.Skill Trident Z5 96GB (2x48GB) @6400mhz Maingear IGNITION 1200W PSU Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Greetings, I wanted to discuss a couple of things with you experts in this post and would like to have your opinions. 1. PSU and GPU Compatibility: I own a Corsair RM850e (2023 version, comes with a 12vhpwr cable) fully modular PSU which I have paired with my MSI RTX 3090 Suprim X. I have it plugged in and the system seems to work, I just wanted to understand something from the safety and stability point of view. The RM850e comes with only 4x points for CPU/PCIe (2 each) with 2x EPS cables (both of which are taken by my Z790-H Motherboard) and 1x 6+2 PCIe and 1x 6+2 with a pig-tail 6+2 connector, the 3090 however has 3x PCIe connector points. I have noticed some markers going online mentioning that it is best to not use a pig-tail connector on high power draw cards, and the 3090 is rated at 420w consumption. My question is, is the setup of this GPU with 2x dedicated and 1x pig-tail connections to the PSU safe enough to not catch fire? (I don't care much about getting every drop of performance out of it). If it is unsafe, what should be my steps forwards? Can I make this system work as it is? or do I need to undervolt the GPU? 2. DDR5 RAM Compatibility: I built the system up and did a Bench Test, which went well, however, during the BIOS update from v1202 to v1501 for the Asus ROG Strix Z790-H Gaming WiFi motherboard, the system did not post with the DRAM orange light solid. I flashed the other versions of the BIOS into the board, which sometimes worked, but not for long. I started troubleshooting and the system posted with 1 RAM stick removed from the 2. This lead me to a Reddit trail where the user mentioned that the RGB on the RAM stick was so much that it did not boot without the XMP enabled. So, upon trial of: removing one RAM stick > booting the PC > updating the BIOS > enabling the XMP > installing the other RAM stick, the system started working completely fine. The RAM here is G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 32, 16x2, DDR5 6000. SPECS: Intel i7 14700k | Noctua NH-D15s | Asus Strix Z790-H Gaming WiFi | G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 32 | MSI RTX 3090 Suprim X 24G | Adata XPG Gammix S70 Blade 1+2TB | Corsair RM850e 2023 | Corsair iCUE 4000X Hope to have your expert views and recommendations on the above topics! Thank you.

Country: India Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Blender Cycles, Adobe Photoshop / Illustrator, Cyberpunk 2077, Forza Horizon 5, Minecraft RTX SCENARIO: So, I have my system with me since almost 6 years, her name is Stygian and she is my first high end build. I majorly use her for my Automotive Design related projects along with Gaming and Entertainment. The specs are as follows: Intel Core i7 6700k / NVidia GeForce GTX 1070 FE / Asus Z170 Pro Gaming / HyperX DDR4 16GB RAM / Cooler Master MA610p / Adata SSD + WD HDD / Cooler Master G550M / Cooler Master CM Storm I have it paired with Logitech Mechs, Wacom Intuos, LG IPS 4K panel and HK Soundsticks 4 for my requirements. Elephant in the room: Now, I have a MSI NVidia GeForce RTX 3090 Suprim X sitting with me that I would love to use. The Plan: As I am not willing to spend too much of money on a computer in today's market (And do not wish to go through the pain of re-installing windows and migrate the data) I have planned something out: I will be investing a bit in a Cooler Master 850 Gold PSU, a Corsair or Lian Li Cabinet and a couple more RAM sticks, then just throw my current system into it along with the 3090, and keep my 1070 FE as a pretty trophy. I need help with: Knowing if it will be a 'survivable' enough combination, and/or if there are better ways I could plan this revamp out, as I have fallen quite off from the PC building world in past few years. I am willing to keep the 6700k and the mobo because it is good enough for my needs, and I don't wish to break my wallet that is being eaten by my car and bike and bike gear! Hope to know your views, thank you!

I've bought a second hand 3090 (Gainward Phoenix), and the hotspot temp sometimes goes up to 108 degrees, while the card itself is at 75. the solution seems to be to re-paste and replace the pads, however, after getting this spec sheet for the pads, i have not been able to find something that fits the specs. The pictures show the specs for the thermal pads that i got from Gainwards EU support through XpertVision (handles EU support for them) The problem is that i have yet to see hardness at ANY manufacturer, even after looking at some industrial manufacturers spec sheets. The core issue though, i that i have not been able to find 2.25mm pads outside of aliexpress, and I'd prefer a clear brand, as well as local support. Any help on this would be amazing The case I use is a Lian Li Lancool 2 performance, so Airflow is def not the issue, it persists with everything (fans) on 100%, and the case is maxed out in terms of fans for this setup. (other than that its a 5800x with NH-D15 on a MSI MAG b550, win 10)

So my shiny new RTX 3090 came in today and I went through the process of peeling and drooling over how amazing it looks. Pulled out my old Gigabyte 3090 and added the extra cable to my PSU, then fired up my computer and nothing. Ok so I power cycled it and it came on. Then I registered it through Amory Crate and not 30 seconds later my video cut out. My computer was still on but just the video died. Reset again...nothing. Reseated the card checked the cables and powered it back on with minimal peripherals (one monitor, network, keyboard and mouse). Still nothing. Literally nothing, no boot screen or anything. Contacted ASUS and they sent me to Best Buy. Anybody have any idea where I can get it repaired or any other trouble shooting ideas? I am game for anything. I feel like if I send it to ASUS they will just try to refund my money and I can not return it from where I bought it because I purchased it on StockX...heads up they DO NOT ACCEPT RETURNS!!! I will say that again. STOCKX DOES NOT OFFER RETURNS!!!! I am willing to ship it to a reputable and verified business to have it repaired if need be. Just a question about what thermals of the Founders edition RTX 3090. If I remember rightly they weren't bad at all. And to see if my memory holds true, What are you RTX 3090 FE thermals? and how does the card fair in stock, and (slight) OC conditions Note: Only interested about FE, pls don't comment if you do not have one/

I’m running a Ryzen 7 3700x 8 cores 16 threads, a 3090 and 48 gigs of ram. I use the card for gaming and video editing but I am noticing issues when video editing. Buffer times are a huge issue. I work with 2k and 4k footage. Is the processor to blame?

My PC keeps turning off when i play a game on high graphics or benchmark the GPU. If i set the graphics to low then it never crashes. This leads me to believe the power supply is not providing enough power then shuts off. However, I do have a beefy 1000W PSU, so i do not think this should be a problem. Anyone have an idea what could be the issue? The whole system is custom loop water-cooled, so over heating is not the issue. i got 130+ on the core anad 1100 on the memory stable, but if i go any further than 130 the card instant crashes and reboots. my vram hovers at 90c wich idk if that is good or bad. my normal gpu temp monitor says 63c under full load though, so it seems to me like i could actually get more performance out of it, but ive never overvolted before so, thats why i came here. afterburner settings specs i5 9600k (yes i know its a bottleneck) RTX 3090 Founders edition Asrock z390 pro4 motherboard full atx 850 w 80+ gold psu 64gb cl16 3200mhz ram (oloy) afterburner settings

I have a RTX 3090 that is supposedly drawing in 400w of power AT IDLE, but the GPU temps don't really reflect that(31.8 degrees celcius, fans are not going crazy). Obviously, this is something related to incorrect current draw readings and I was wondering if faulty shunt(s) would be causing this issue? If not, what could it be?

Hi, TL;DR because it's a bit long: PC freezes entirely when I launch a game after a few minutes - had been in repair twice. I'm gonna preface this by saying I am not the biggest expert on all things component-related. I have purchased the RTX 3090 (Gigabyte Eagle model) a few months ago and I have had consistent crashing issues with it. My specs: Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix Z490-F CPU: Intel Core i9 11900k RAM: 32GB DDR4 Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200MHz PSU: Corsair 1200W HX1200 80+ Platinum Modular GPU: GeForce Gigabyte RTX 3090 Eagle OC 24 Initially, the PC has had issues with bluescreens appearing on a daily basis even when idling - it was a common occurance that I'd get up from the PC for a few minutes and when I return it's back on the login screen after it had crashed and rebooted. After sending the PC to a shop for evaluation and repair - they had concluded that my i9 10900k (since then replaced) was faulty hence I can either wait for a replacement or upgrade for a much cheaper than retail price. In addition, they stated that the GPU was also found to be the culprit and was sent to Gigabyte for a repair. After the GPU had returned and the CPU was replaced, I have noticed immediately that the blue screens had been replaced by sudden crashes of the entire PC, forcing it to reboot after the image freezes and the PC's audio loops Frustrated, I returned to the shop for a repair and they sent it to Gigabyte once again only for it to return yesterday (note that each 'repair' has been 2 weeks where I used my old GTX 970 and had no issues other than low FPS) To my surprise (or not-so-surprise anymore) it is yet again crashing in a similar manner, only this time when the PC freezes it will not reboot after a few seconds but rather remain that way until I reboot it myself. Many leads on forums point out bad PSUs but I find it hard to believe that a new 1200W PSU cannot handle an RTX 3090 that's not even overclocked. I'm hoping anyone here can lead me to a solution because I'm tired of not being able to use the GPU I had spent so much money on. Thank you for reading if anyone made it this far.

Hi, I recently acquired a rtx 3090 , and i wanted to enable resizable bar. But to enable resizable bar i had to disable CSM. Has soon as i did that, my wifi card (which was include in my asus tuf x570 plus gaming wifi motherboard) instantly stop working. I already tried to : use the troubleshooting tool of windows do a network reset update my wifi card driver entirely disable the wifi card, remove drivers, and doing the above steps again I know that it is not a good idea to use wifi, and that i have to use ethernet, but i am currently in a place with a crappy connection and the only thing that is working well is my 5G connection. For the moment I will use usb-c connection to share my connection but i would like to make my wifi work again. Thank you

Budget (including currency): 3500 € Country: France Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Deep learning, Gaming, maybe rendering at some point and mining when it is cold Other details : Hi, I've already done some work and i got this for now : https://www.ldlc.com/s/DLMMEG I am trying to build a tower that will last me a while and that i will use for deep learning (and for gaming but that's a plus). My requirements for the moment are (feel free to tell me if you think i am wrong) : - Will allow for a second RTX3090 at some points in the future (i really need the 48GB VRAM for future work) - Motherboard compatible SLI (for RTX3090) - AMD processor - Easily upgradable the points i don't know: - 3200MHz for ram is it overkill ? - Do i really need a ssd ? (I need a lot of space for dataset but i could do SSD/HDD) - Do i need to go watercool ? (i am pretty afraid to do watercooling with such expansive stuff ) - Is Ryzen 9 9500X overkill ? (i am hoping for the cpu to last at least 5/6 years) I also have choosen a case and a motherboard that seems nice and durable but i would be happy to save some money on them. It will be my first pc build, hope you can give me some hints. Thank you !!!

Hi All, Just wanted to check if anyone has more numbers I can look at for the PSU Requirements for Dual GeForce RTX 3090s. I am currently looking at 1200W model based on the numbers I got from OuterVision Power Supply Calculator, which was around 1050W. The estimated specs of the system are: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X X570 Motherboard 64 GB RAM 1 TB NVME SSD 6 TB HDD Dual GeForce RTX 3090s If anyone needs more info or can point me to a good resource, let me know.

I just got and RTX 3090 Founders Edition and installed it. I tried to boot up Call of Duty Modern warfare but after a few minutes my entire pc just shut down and restarted. I then ran the game again and pulled up MSI Afterburner and Coretemp and I didn't see anything to be concerned about there (GPU was in the low to mid 40°s and my highest CPU core was at 56°) and after a trying to start up a practice match the pc crashed again. After booting the game in safe mode I was able to change the resolution to 4k but when I tried to max out the settings the pc crashed again when clicking apply. This has happened several times with this game and also once on Borderlands 3, strangely I was able to boot up Rogue Company with no issue and even run Control and max out all settings with ray tracing and DLSS on and it seemed to run no problem. I have so far tried changing which socket on my modular power supply the GPU power cables are plugged into as well as switching out the power cables. I also updated my bios just to be safe. My initial thought would be that this is somehow a power supply issue but this power supply is only a couple months old and it is an 850w power supply which should be more than enough for my 3090+I7-10700k unless the power supply is faulty. With the inclusion of this 3090 the entire build is all new and was working fine until the inclusion of the graphics card. To clarify the computer shuts off to black screen and all lights on the computer go off and then instantly restarts 1-3 seconds later. I'd really appreciate any help on this, I'm really hoping I don't have to send the card back because I doubt they'll bea able to send a replacement. I recently purchased the limited edition Mass Effect NZXT H510i but then I managed to get my hands on an RTX 3090 Founders Edition. I'm currently using a full tower Corsair 780t case but I'd really like to use this smaller case. I'm concerned about the thermals in a compact mid tower with a solid front panel when I put a 3090 in it. My understanding is that the 3090 fe has pretty great thermals but considering the founders edition configuration I'm somewhat concerned the card might be blowing hot air right into my cpu cooler exacerbating the airflow problems of the small case. My thought would be to install an AIO for the cpu rather than the current Noctua NH-U12S. Does anyone have any suggestions, am I overthinking it? Hi All, So I recently finished my build and got some time yesterday to play around with my PC. I noticed right out of the box, my RTX 3090 FE was underperforming compared to the benchmarks/scores people have posted to forums. Here my PC specs: CPU: Ryzen 5900X (Stock) Cooler: NZXT X63 Ram: GSkill Tidentz NEO 3600MHZ SSD: Samsung 1 TB EVO PLUS GPU: RTX 3090 FE (Installed in PCIE first slot with Gen 4) Motherboard: Asus Crosshair VIII Hero X570 PSU: Corsair RM1000X Case: NZXT H710 I change my GPU's power management to: "Prefer high performance" and results improved a bit, but I am still not able to achieve 60 FPS 4k lock in games where I should. Here is the timespy's best result (graphics only) with a very aggressive fan curve: 19,165 With out of the box setting: 19,020 AC:O Setting: 4k, Ultra high Issue: FPS drops to 54 during open world gameplay Control: Setting: 4k, DLSS: 1440p, RTX - High, Graphic- High Issue: FPS drops to 50 during any action/new area I am not sure what the issue is.... max temp for GPU is 69 with default fan curve... Thanks for your inputs!

Build Log: Illya v2.0, The Tiny Titan Good Evening LTT! It's been about 7 years now since my first ever personal rig build--since then I've graduated, started a job, built hundreds of PCs as a side-job. With all the changes and growth I've gone through all these years, I've decided to put all I have learned into this machine. The main guideline I have for this build is: Build a small, compact desktop that deceptively outputs performance inversely proportional to her size. Illya version 2 will be a high-ish end desktop that is still built around the mITX Mobo form factor. However, in contrast with her first form (a mid-tower mITX Prodigy), I've decided to follow the way of the SFFPC--I shall attempt to place all this raw power into a sub 20-liter case. After months of looking for such a case that can also house a triple slot 3090FE--I finally found the answer: Sliger's SM580. I need Illya v2.0 to handle my tech hobbies and real life work: 3440x1440 +100FPS Gaming, Blender 3D renders, Editing my photography (Lightroom and Photoshop), and Unreal Editor (both v4 and v5 now). In my early years, I've always been wary of watercooling--"Oh another point of failure" or "It'll leak all over," I thought. I even held a sort of disdain for it in my first build log here on LTT. After a good half-a-decade I started to pivot from this view as I started my full time job and subsequently a part-time job building custom PCs for clients. AIOs are pretty safe, some even have great full-PC replacement warranties to boot. Plus, if I'm trying to cram in all this performance in a 15.9 liter case, water is pretty much the only way to go. In summary/tl:dr: Combine a 15.9 liter case (SM580) with an RTX 3090 and an old i7-8700k @5GHz on all cores whilst trying not to make this baby burn. ******************************************************* Illya v2.0's Parts List ******************************************************* Case: Sliger SM580 (Dual Acrylic Panel version) CPU: Intel i7-8700K (Delidded and Liquid Metal'd via Silicon Lottery) GPU: Nvidia RTX 3090 Founder's Edition CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken Z63 Motherboard: AsRock Z390 Phantom Gaming ITXac RAM: HyperX Predator RGB 32GB @3600MHz Boot NVME: Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500GB M.2 NVME Main Games NVME: Crucial P5 1TB M.2 NVME Auxiliary Games SSD: ADATA SU800 2TB SSD Data Storage SSD: Samsung 860 QVO 4TB SSD Radiator Fans: 2x Noctua NF-A14 iPPC-3000 PWM Intake Fans: 2x Noctua NF-A14 iPPC-3000 PWM PSU: Corsair SF750 PSU Cables: Custom made by DreambigByRay (Etsy) ******************************************************* Updates Below: I'll update this as I go. Q1: The 3090 pulls about 400W if I'm correct, and not 350 like Nvidia says. A PCI.e slot gives 75W so that leaves 325 Watt for 2 8-pin cables which are rated for 300W total. Does the card simply pull an extra 25 Watts from the cables? Not that an extra 12,5 Watt each matters that much but still, maybe it's 25W extra for only 1 of the 2 8-pins. Q2: I want to bifurcate 1 PCI.e x16 Gen 4 slot to 1x16 running at x8 speeds and 1x8 (prefer) or 1x16 running at x8 speeds. The x16 slot for the 3090 and the x8 slot for a x8 PCI.e SSD (or x16 but I think the controllers are specifically built for x16, so by that logic it probably would be slower than x8 on x8 speeds). How does the power delivery work? Because there's 50W coming at 12V and 25W at 3V & 5V. Are both simply split in half? Or does the SSD pull that 3V&5V 25 Watt and leave 50 for the GPU? But the GPU also uses that to communicate, I think. And would the GPU just pull the missing 12V power from the 2x8 pins? And does the splitter also use power? And if there's only 1 x16 to 2 x16 splitters, I put in the 3090 and I only use half of 1 splitted x16 for the x8 SSD, can I still get about 15GB/s assuming the splitted x16 slot is able to handle Gen 4 at x8 speeds? Q3: Can I use that x8 SSD in bifurcation, in Raid 1 with another PCI.e SSD on a m.2 pci.e motherboard slot, even if they're not the same speed or size. (Assuming it would work while using the lowest speed and size of the 2). And how would that affect real world performance? Would Smart Acces Memory still be possible without any comprimises? Wonder what will happen with a so named "400W TDP" Titan RTX 2... Thanks in advance!

Hello All, So I'm having a bit of a crisis. I built up a new PC to directly support the new RTX3000 series GPU's. Of course I couldn't get my hand on one at first, so I used an RTX2060. Everything ran well enough with my setup and I've been pretty happy. And even better news, I just got an RTX 3090 FE. So of course I just installed it in my PC. Booted the PC up, opened Warzone, then noticed an odd noise coming from the GPU itself. Sounded as if it was struggling. So I booted down, made sure my connections were good, and booted it back up. Opened Warzone set my settings to where they had been with my 2060, with the exception of the resolution. Went from 1080 to 1440. Then my whole system shutdown! Now, I'm no dummy when it comes to this stuff, but I am admittedly rusty. However, my initial thought is my PSU " and yes, I have two separate cables running to supply the 12pin splice on the 3090" and I'm running a recommended PSU. I was able to load up Minecraft and play it for a bit with no issue, but when I loaded up Cyberpunk it crashed again. I'm not talking crash to windows, but a full system shutdown. I have to restart my PSU in order for the PC to boot back up. Has anyone else had this issue, or have an idea of what it could be? I'm leaning toward PSU being to small even though everything tells me 750W is good. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Hi all. I am at the final part of building my pc. I have a system with ryzen 9 5900x and rtx 3090. I was initially gonna go with an AIO cooler for the cpu but was worried about leakage and other issues. Now I'm looking into heatsink and air cooling. I was wondering whether a corsair a500 is sufficient to cool the ryzen 5900x, and would it affect the gpu negatively at all (considering there is good airflow inside the case). I realise corsair a500 is not the best air cooler and definitely not the best bang for the buck, but there is limited availability where I live, and it seems like one of the few feasible options. Thanks!
