  1. I have an EVGA GEFORCE RTX 2080TI x3 that gets super hot i have to increase my radiator fans just to keep its temp down but the strange thing is that it dose not complain when when its hot its literally like a heater
  2. I’m trying to choose a new GPU that won’t require me to change my PSU or that my i7 6700 won’t bottleneck to badly. I’m trying to decide between the 3060 12gb, 2080, or RX 6700 or XT
  3. Hey folks, I was able to snap a cheap 2080 and have been enjoying it for a few months now (used to have a gtx 1080), but now I'm wondering whether my ryzen 7 1700x is holding it back. My fps is lower in newer titles but I'm at relatively low gpu utilization. Any thoughts? Would a cpu upgrade solve my issue?
  4. First off, I'm in Australia, so all of this was through ASUS' Australian branch. Anyway, I have no idea what to do. I've been beating my head against the wall with this for weeks now. My RTX 2080 Strix card started freezing and crashing during games and graphically intensive applications like Blender. It would also display weird artefacts all over the screen, lock everything up and from there have a 50/50 shot of just the game/application crashing or it giving me a full BSoD restart. Someone linked me this video here: Which is for RTX 2080 Ti's but that's the exact same issue I get. Steve also says it could easily apply to the 2080 as well and it stands to reason they were manufactured in the same factories, using the same silicon, at the same time, side by side. So I RMA'd the card through the retailer and got it back from ASUS, checked the serial number and... it was the same one. "Ok", I thought, "maybe it was a different issue and they managed to fix it", so I boot it up and it seems fine. For a couple hours. Then the same issues started coming back. Slowly at first, could get no more than 30 seconds before a crash before, now sometimes I'd get an hour. But then it started deteriorating again back to where it was, couldn't run games at all and eventually could even boot the system with the card installed because the screen would be super glitchy and pixelated and would lock up eventually. Once I got the card back and realised it was still having issues, I ran Heaven. Only got it to complete once (it crashed about a minute after completing, the application wasn't even open anymore) and the score was 1817, with an average FPS of 72.1, a min of 8.7 and a max of 139. I don't know a ton about benchmark scores, but I'm almost positive it should've been higher. So naturally, I emailed ASUS and told them and they tried to tell me it was a software issue. I told them that before I'd even RMA'd it the first time, I'd already tried reinstalling all the drivers, using hotfixed drivers, older drivers that I knew worked before, even tried reformatting my whole drive and reinstalling Windows to get everything installed as cleanly as possible to rule out software issues. None of that helped. After I told them that, they actually admitted that they were able to recreate the issue in the first RMA and I was welcome to send it back again. I asked them if I was getting a replacement this time and they said they couldn't give me one, that I'd have to go back to the retailer. They also wanted to me to pay shipping which seems super wrong. Anyway, clearly wasn't getting anywhere with them and they were taking days at a time to get back to me, so I got back in contact with the retailer and explained it all to them. They said that they're just a middle man here, they just pass the cards on to the manufacturer and the manufacturer decides everything from there. I'm not sure how that process actually works but that makes sense to me, this would be ASUS' fault for giving them a bad product, not their fault for selling it, so surely the replacements would come from ASUS? It's not like a retailer can just afford to give away cards just because it received a batch of faulty ones from the manufacturer. But maybe I'm wrong, and they are supposed to supply the replacement. Anyway, since then I've tried to get in touch with other facets of ASUS' customer service department hoping that someone will be able to give me a more reasonable response, tried calling, using their main support email address, their live chat service, and all of them just say they can't do anything, GPUs aren't their department and then just refer me back to the same email address that said they couldn't replace it. Just feels like I'm either stuck with a $1200 brick, or doomed to infinitely RMA this thing until my warranty runs out or I just go insane. What can I even do about this?
  5. https://streamable.com/81brq7 Specs: Ryzen 9 3900x RTX 2080 Super 16gb (2x8gb) 2933mhz RAM 850w PSU Ok the video posted above has only happened to me in 3 games which are Warzone, Cold War and Gears 5....so far. I am unable to play these games because as you can see as soon as the game gets past the menus, my GPU is unable to go into boost clocks and is stuck at 1650mhz making games literally unplayable. You can see the FPS and temps as well to give more detail on how bad it is. Now what is strange is this is on the latest Geforce drivers and if I roll back to 451.67 (July 2020) driver, this problem does not occur. However, that driver is quite old and makes things like DLSS and Nvidia Broadcast not possible. I am also on the latest BIOS and the past 2 versions didn't change any of the performance and I'm on the latest Windows 10 updates as well. I've used GPU-Z and everything is correct with PCIe as well. On these 3 games it does nothing to set everything to low even at 720p, still limited to the same FPS and GPU clocks. I've contacted Nvidia with no help and they honestly don't understand the issue that I'm trying to explain. Below is a list of everything I've tried: Complete DDU with every driver release since July 2020 Reinstalling Battlenet along with both games including removing all ini files and appdata Editing the ini files for proper core use and VRAM usage Changing Nvidia Control Panel settings to "Prefer Maximum Performance" Creating a power plan that is "Ultimate Performance" Setting these games to high priority in Task Manager I've even had an RTX 2080 Super replacement Entire Windows 10 Reinstallation
  6. Hi All, I am having issues with my MSI RTX2080 Gaming X Trio One night I was playing games and the fans started spinning at 100% after a couple of hours of games. Ever since that moment almost as soon as I start playing a game the fans spin at max. I noticed it would happen between 68 degrees to 75 degrees ‘usually’. I ran FurMark to try and replicate the issue and I couldn’t get the fans to spin loudly despite the GPU core temp being at about 73 degrees. I found this weird. After playing around with Furmark settings, I enabled Xtreme Burn-in, Post-FX and other options to increase the workload. When I ran the burn-in test, the fans did spin to 100% again but the card was running at 72 degrees. After a bit of playing around I opened GPU-Z and realised the memory was running at 105 degrees during this test. When I switched it back to the original Furmark test the memory was only at 80 degrees. I thought this was clearly the issue, so I took my card out and taken it to the place I work (where I bought the card from) and tried my card on our test bench. I ran the exact same benchmark with the same settings in my computer on the test bench, and we couldn’t get the memory to go past 80 degrees. I am lost with what I should do because we need to replicate the fault to send the card away for repair but there is no fault on the test bench. For troubleshooting I tried; Uninstalled all software that could interfere with Overclocking, fan speeds etc. (MSI Dragon Centre, Geforce Experience, Afterburner) DDU driver uninstall and reinstall using 2 older drivers. Fresh install of windows with driver and furmark. Fresh install of windows with driver (no geforce experience or internet connection) and furmark. Airflow isn’t an issue. I have a Lian Li O11D Mini case with 11x Noctua Chromax fans. 3 Intake (bottom), 4 exhaust (top & rear), 4 exhaust (side radiator push/pull). Temps for everything else is sub 65 degrees. Since all of this i have installed MSI afterburner and limited the cards power limit to 80% which let's the GPU memory reach around 90 degrees but also has a performance hit for games. Personally, I don't think I should have to handicap my card for it to function as it should but I don't know what I should do. Does anyone have an idea or has come across this before? My other components are as below; i9-10850k 32gb G.skill ripjaws MSI MPG z490 Gaming Plus RTX2080 MSI Gaming X Trio Video Card Cheers, Jay
  7. Hey! I have a MSI RTX 2080 SEA HAWK X, I have 3 monitors connected to it through DP. Up until now it has worked fine, but I now have horizontal lines across two of the monitors every time I start the computer. They do not appear when in BIOS or outside Windows, but as soon as Windows is loaded they appear. They do disappear after a while, I have to turn my monitors of and on, or disconnect an reconnect them in order to make these lines disappear after a while. It's like the card needs to warm up to fully work. Is this a common issue woth RTX 2080? Is it a hardware issue? Can I fix it myself? My system (summary): OS: Windows 10 Motherboard: Z390 I AORUS PRO WIFI-CF CPU: Intel Core i9 @ 4.8 Ghz GPU: MSI RTX 2080 SEA HAWK X 8GB PSU: CORSAIR SF Series SF750 Monitor: 3 x HannSpree HG 324 QJB (https://www.hannspree.eu/product/hg-324-qjb/) @ 2560x1440 (144hz) DP-Cables: Club 3D Harddrive: 931GB Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 1TB (RAID (SSD)), 931GB Western Digital WDC WDS100T2B0B-00YS70 (SATA (SSD)) RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB White 32GB (2x16GB) / 3200MHz / DDR4
  8. Spec list Gpu: Nvidia RTX 2080 Cpu: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X Cpu Cooler: Stock Motherboard: rog strix b450-f gaming Ram: 32gb Psu: Corsair RM Series™ RM650 80 PLUS Gold Fully Modular Fans: 3 front intake, 1 back exhaust I recently started to notice that my performance in games was lower than expected. I downloaded novabench and found out that my gpu was performing significantly lower than it should have been. I also started seeing strange errors like: video tdr failure and video scheduler internal error. So i'm hoping someone has a decent solution for me. My only theory is that the psu doesn't give enough wat, but I thought 650 would be enough (My gpu driver and windows is up to date and i tried to reinstall my driver)
  9. The Problem: Games that are set to any resolution other than the current OS resolution will not take over the screen (change the resolution and go full-screen). The screen flashes black like it changes, but then it is forced back to the OS resolution and the game gets stuck in the taskbar. Edit: this has been happening basically since purchase about a year ago. I usually just try to work around it, but that is becoming difficult. For example, Watch_Dogs Legion does not play at 60fps in 4k on this GPU. It also doesnt have a resolution scaling option to turn it down, so I can only run it at choppy framerates. OS: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit Version: 20H2 OS Build: 19042.610 GPU Driver: 457.30 Specs: CPU: AMD Ryzen 3800XT GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 2080 Gaming X Trio RAM: 32GB(4x8) Corsair Dominator 3600MHz MB: MSI MEG x570 ACE MB PSU: EVGA Supernova 850 G+ Boot Drive: Samsung 970 Evo 500G BIOS: 1.A0 Running Software: Still occurs with all nonessential programs closed (So basically just windows). Have tried with services and background programs on and off, with and without geforce experience, even went though the trouble of removing windows game bar once to see if that was causing it.
  10. Budget (including currency): 1200 € / 1400 $ / 1900 CAD Country: Germany Games, it will be used for: 1440p gaming for FPS and Singleplayer Games with high graphic quality aspiration. Think of Warzone and Cyberpunk / Watch Dogs 3. Programs or workloads that it will be used for: 3D Rendering, 2D Graphic Software (Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects), 2D / 3D Animation, Video Editing (mostly 2k), Music / SFX Production. > This will basically be my Work- and Gaming Station. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): From my existing rig I transfer: the PSU RTX 2080 Case Display Mouse / Keyboard Multiple SSDs, a M2 512gig for the system to live on and a mechanical 2 tb for stuff What I need: CPU RAM Motherboard Cooler I like to build my gaming / workstation "futureproof" as far as that's possible - meaning i want to build it now - maybe OP but I want my peace and don't research parts for the next years. My current build is a intel i7 4790K - 16 gig ram which is 6 years old. Back then it was called overhead for me - but I had a good run with it - with the same requirements as stated above since i got the same tasks and taste in gaming. Obviously I upgraded graphics along the way. tl;dr - i spent big 6 years ago to have my peace for long - and for me it worked well and I want to do it again now. I have little knowledge of PC hardware but what I was recommended by friends and what I researched is that for the new Ryzen generation - fast RAM is a good idea. //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// CPU I am tending towards the Ryzen™ 9 5900X with 12 Cores. Question Is it too powerful - regarding my usage stated above - or a good futureproof investment? Motherboard I am no overclocker - I want my rig running and dont optimize the last 0.X %. But I want my baseline great and well picked and the selection optimized . WLAN is not required. Whats important to me personally is audio quality (so I guess shielding and the onboard audio chip?) Question Is there a board with the new standards / highlights like PCIe 4.0 but without too much bells and whistles? Cooler I was thinking about the Noctua NH-D15 (chromax.black). Wouldnt want to go with some cheap alternative since cool cpu means longer life / steady performance. RAM This is a tricky one for me. I heard that the new AMD Ryzen likes fast (and much?) RAM. A buddy recommended 3600MHZ as sweet spot and low CL (like 14?). I would like to buy 32gb since I upgrade my rig and use 16 already - also here applies: wanna be futureproof and have my peace for long. Question Is there such a huge performance difference between CL14 and CL16 (especially regarding my CPU choice (5900x)) ? Is 32gb overhead? I dont need RGB on that (and at all) - can I save some money here? //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// I tried to be as precise as possible since it is a lot of money to spend. Feel free to ask further questions if something is unclear. I am very thankful for any tips and hints regarding my questions or even part recommendations. If you got some alternative recommandations on the CPU front I am totally open for it. Thank you all in advance - Best Regards Solano
  11. Hey everyone, I was thinking to get myself a RTX 2080 but I have a rig which is pretty tight for it to be compatible for a long run. If anyone of you knows if it will be compatible with my rig or not it would be a lot helpful..! Thanks. 12. I need help with my FPS. I recently replaced my MoBo and CPU, and I'm getting around 30-50 FPS with my GPU overclocked and the everything down to the lowest setting. My previous setup ran an i5-7600k CPU with a MSI Z270 Pro Carbon Gaming with the same RAM and GPU with everything cranked to max in the settings and I still got around 100-115 FPS. SO what I'm asking is, why is my FPS so low with my current more capable setup than my previous one? Current rig: MoBo: Asus ROG Strix Z490-E Gaming CPU: i9-10850k GPU: MSI RTX 2080 Gaming x Trio RAM: 16GB @ 3200Mhz
  13. Hi everyone i recently bought a not working Asus Rtx 2080 turbo evo. The fan revs up all the way and thats about it. The guy i bought it from said it got messed up during a update. I tried flashing it with a few different cardbios's from online and no luck. I wanted to ask anyone if they had a copy of the Asus rtx 2080 turbo evo (or any bios that might work )bios(no usb-c) or tips to figure out whats wrong, because all over online only the USB c GPU bios is available and i honestly just want to get the car working. thanks!

  15. Hey y'all! I made this account specifically for help :( I play LoL which isn't the world's most intensive game by any means, and with my PC that I built a few months ago, I'm only getting 70 FPS and i have no clue as to why. I have V-SYNC off and my in-game FPS are not capped. I have my settings optimized w the GeForce application and I'm stuck on what to do... Please help me :(((((( Here are my specs! Windows 10 Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-9900K CPU @ 3.60GHz (16 CPUs), ~3.6GHz 16384MB RAM NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 If you need any more details you're MORE than welcome to ask!!!! Thank you all so much in advance <3
  16. So as the title says I currently have a ryzen 5 2600. I was gonna at first go with a r5 3600 and rtx 2070 super, but i figured if I held out and waited for the ryzen 4000 series i could pull the trigger on a 2080 super. So my question is will it work well at 240 hz or will the cpu limit it? My motherboard is a b450 tomahawk and psu is a evga 750w g3. Thank you for your time.
  17. I have a 240hz monitor and a new rtx2080 graphics card (I decided to splurge as I had just had birthday money from my 18th and my rx580 died on me). I am still running my system from 2017 with a AMD 1500x, 16GB ddr4 3600, & a b350 motherboard. Do I need to update my motherboard before I get a new CPU (thinking ryzen 3600x). If a bios update is needed how easy is that to approach and a have a 212 evo atm, will that need upgrading for a 3600x?
  18. what are the differences besides a higher clock speed? Is it worth buying the ultra over the regular? Can't I just overclock the regular to match the 1845Mhz of the ultra? Thank y'all in advance! EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 Super XC vs EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 Super XC ULTRA
  19. S A N D W A S P This my first time documenting a system build in this sort of format. I've been building my own systems for years but never really evolved much beyond the "buy a load of components and throw them in a system" until 3-4 years ago when I built what I suppose was the first incarnation of Sandwasp- A Corsair C70 Vengeance with some small custom tweaks (smoked side panel, PSU shroud), a 5820K and GTX1080 and lots of black/grey/yellow detailing which looked something like this I've kept with the colour theme over the years, most recently rebuilding it into a Lian-Li PC-O11 Dynamic XL along with some custom cables from Shakmods and SP120 fan rings I've sprayed to match the colour scheme. Spec Intel Core i7 6900K (4.2GHz/1.265v) MSI X99A MPOWER EVGA Geforce RTX2080 XC 32GB Corsair Dominator DDR4-3000 I'd planned on doing my first custom loop, initially in the C70 then subsequently in the O11 and had started sourcing components for it, but other things got in the way and I always ended up selling off bits and never making the jump, but the combination of plenty of working-from-home time following the birth of our daughter and a rediscovered interest in DIY and tinkering has pushed me to actually have a proper crack at it. There's going to be a lot of first for me in this build- first time having proper custom components made up, first time loop planning. Like just about everyone else with an O11 XL I'm going to be using a distro plate; the twist is that I'm hoping to use a custom plate modelled after the EKWB G1 but modified to allow the use of a D5 pump. Some enterprising fellow on GrabCAD by the name of Pedro Azevedo (shout out if you're a member on here) already produced a model for a modified version of the EKWB G1 configured for a D5 (https://grabcad.com/library/lian-li-pc-o-11-d5-pump-distro-1), which with some minor tweaks (such as addition of a rear fill port and countersinking) and a few cosmetic alterations is looking pretty ace. Currently getting quotes for production of the acrylic front/rear. The pump mount I'll probably have 3D printed in POM. The aluminium side cover will be laser cut, unlike the G1 it doesn't have a cutout for an RGB strip as I'm not intending on having any RGB in the system but I felt it looked a bit bare without it. The case will need minor modifications to fit- just two support brackets in the side being dremelled back. I've also started piecing together an I/O cover for the motherboard, initially using Cardboard Aided Design (excuse the dust, it's very fine bentonite clay from the cat's litter tray and gets everywhere...so much for "no-dust"): And a quick and dirty WIP in Fusion360 with a bit of detailing Not totally happy, so will probably redo it. CPU block arrived from Germany. The planned spec looks something like this: CPU: Watercool Heatkiller IV Pro Acryl/Nickel GPU: Watercool Heatkiller IV Acryl/Nickel/Black Pump: XSPC D5 PWM Sata Distribution Plate: Custom version of EKWB G1 designed to fit a D5 instead of DDC pump Radiators: Assuming current supply issues sort themselves out, Hardware Labs nemesis GTX360 bottom and either GTX or GTS360 top (depending on clearance). If not, Corsair XR7/XR5. Fans: Undecided. Currently leaning towards Be Quiet Silent Wings 3, but if the promised Noctua Chromax A12x25 come out before then probably those. Tubing: EK-Tube ZMT 12x16 Matte Black Fittings: TBD, probably EKWB Coolant: Mayhem's Pastel Yellow Other ideas that I'm still deciding on: > Motherboard armour > Etching the glass panels > A second RTX2080 > Moving to X299/i9-10920X
  20. just a question, can i rund a rtx 2080 with my current 750w psu? the 2080 says it need atleast 750w, so is it enough? or should i wait and upgrade both?
  21. What's better ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 2060 Super Advanced Overclocked EVO 8G GDDR6 HDMI DisplayPort USB Type-C Gaming Graphics Card (ROG-STRIX-RTX2060S-A8G-EVO-GAMING) or EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER KO GAMING, 08G-P4-2083-KR, 8GB GDDR6, who should I go with
  22. Hello Geeks and IT specialists, I have a problem with the graphics card on my Precision T3610 and I can't find the exact cause. Suddenly I loose the video signal and the monitors become completely black and the fans of the GPU fires up at maximum but the computer seems to run even no image or video output until I restart the computer, some times after I hard restart the computer, at the boot it shows me the following message " please power down and connect the PCIe power cable(s) for this graphics card" and after I disconnect and reconnect the PSU cable (8pin+6pin) the computer boot normally with now error message. On the windows event manger when the crash happens, it records the critical event with the ID 41 (63) and source is Kernel-Power but with no code in the Bugcheck Code (0). In windows support they mentioned that it is retailed to insufficient power, but if it is the case why the card works fine the most of the time and this happens randomly !!?? This problem is annoying and causes me to loose my work everytime it happens and I am afraid to lose the GPU because this issue anyone can help me with this problem please ? 23. So I finally have my dream build put together with a gigabyte rtx 2080. My switch from consoles to PC is the changing in graphics and contrary to popular belief I really like and believe in ray tracing. So with this said, I am a lowly peasant playing this beast on a TV needing to upgrade to a monitor that will make my eyes tear with joy. I want to play games like control, metro exodus, and shadow of the tomb raider while seeing all the rich details that the game can offer and what I can get out of my graphics card. With so many monitors on the market, I thought I would ask for the guidance of the masters. I'm not into battle royal games and really playing online, but unsure if I should worry about frame rates.
  24. Hi, Been a long time LTT follower, but just joined the forum and this is my first post. The community here looks really nice - and thank you for being supportive I am looking to buy a laptop for doing serious software engineering work, including training ML models, etc. - which I need to learn/practice moving ahead. My OS of choice is Ubuntu (I am just used to Debian packages, and know where everything is, and feel very comfortable here). As this will be my only machine - it has to be very stable - and hence I am a little scared of getting systems like Razor Blade 15 or Asus ROG Z - where users have installed Linux distros like Ubuntu but with compromises and with some things not working (connecting to projectors, wifi issues, sleep-wake issues, etc) - and hence I am inspired to get a System76 laptop. I did consider a ThinkPad with Ubuntu (which is stable), but they don't seem to have a good graphics card anywhere which I will likely need to use with TensorFlow, etc. I am considering either an Oryx Pro which maxes out with an i7-9750H and RTX2080 (16.x 1080p 144Hz screen), or an Adder WS which maxes out with an i9-9980HK and RTX2070 (4K OLED screen - which I don't really need but I'm not complaining about either). I don't know which of these combinations should I go for considering that this is a laptop (thermals), I need it mostly for coding, ML training, etc. and also - maybe once in a while - running a few games on Steam (but that is not a priority in any way). Can someone please help me out here? I very much appreciate your advise! Thank you again Oryx Pro: https://system76.com/cart/configure/oryp5 Adder WS: https://system76.com/cart/configure/addw1
