Basically what the title says. I've had the card for a few years, and I'm not too knowledgeable about card degradation, but I feel like that's not what's happening here (inb4 need to replace). Only one single part of the card temp is actually spiking that high, while the other two sensors are reading stuff normally around 70 and 75 (sometimes a bit higher). It used to be that I'd be able to play high-end games at max graphics while streaming and it wouldn't overheat. But now, if I'm just chilling and not streaming, it'll overheat, sometimes even if it isn't on max graphics. I'm worried something is wrong with the card, but I've no ide why. The important specs for my computer are included in the screenshot, which shows my temps. This happened earlier today and I immediately closed the game I was playing, which was tetris effect (not in vr mode) After shutting it down, it immediately went down to these levels These were actually done with my fans all blowing at 100%, and it was worse than earlier when I didn't have them that high. I'm confused and worried. My case shouldn't be a problem, and I've been dusting semi-regularly (last dusting was a month ago). Oh, and my case is the Corsair D500 Obsidian, which I'm assuming has decent airflow, and even if not, these temps still happen with both side panels off. It should be worth mentioning, that there was a defining point that this all started happening, it didn't gradually occur. Just one day the temps started spiking like crazy. Also, overall gpu temps have just been much higher than normal since this point, not just the random one part getting super hot. Wat do?

I have a very weird workload despite I have maxed out the settings in watchdogs legion. So my setup is: Threadripper 3960x, rtx2080ti,64gb 3200 cl16, 2x Gigabyte Aorus Gen4 M.2 2TB( so 4tb in raid 0 read speeds around 6-7gibs) on a Msi TRX40 pro board. So i playing on 1080p and have around 40-60fps with max raytracing and DLLs on max quality, the load on the CPU is low and not going over 30% usage what is ok with 24 cores at 4,20 GHz. The GPU load ist under 20% most of the time, there are some spikes that pushing up to 70-80% load for 2-3 seconds. The ram usage is around 10-12gb. What i saw and read in most of the articles is not matching with my results. So Im not complaining with the performance, but I don't now if there's something bottlenecking my, the ssd is not the problem ram is ok gpu and CPU also. Maybe someone of you have any idea, if there's is a problem. And maybe there are some frames hiding somewhere. The newest drivers from 30.10 are installed with the support for Watchdogs Legion.

Hi everyone, I’ve had an issue with my relatively new (~3 months old) PC that is driving me absolutely insane and that I can’t seem to troubleshoot. I’m hoping that someone might be able to help me out. I’m so frustrated with this and have spent so much time trying to solve this issue that if someone provides a solution that solves the problem, I will send you a $50 Steam gift card as a gigantic thank you. All you need to do is send me your Steam name once I’ve identified a successful solution. I’m also happy to send you a $50 Amazon gift card if you’d prefer, though you would need to send me your e-mail address. To prevent any controversy, in the event that multiple people suggest a solution that solves the problem, the first person to make the suggestion will get the “bounty.” THE PROBLEM: When playing most games, I get intermittent, abrupt drops in CPU usage and GPU usage that result in substantial FPS drops. Usage on both the CPU and GPU will drop to 0% at the same time before returning back to their previous levels. There is no detectable slowing that I can see before these drops - they really do occur abruptly. Sometimes, the drops are associated with an abrupt drop in GPU core voltage, but not always. Games I have noticed this on include Rust, Halo, and Parkitect. It seems to happen somewhat randomly - for example, it doesn’t occur just when loading into new areas or in graphically “intense” scenes - and with some degree of regularity (maybe once every 1-2 minutes or so, sometimes more frequently, sometimes less). On Rust, I go from 100-110 FPS to 0 FPS for 0.5-2 seconds, then I jump immediately back to 100-110 FPS. On Halo, I can get 300+ FPS, drop to 0 FPS, then return immediately back to 300 FPS. The same thing occurs in Parkitect. I haven’t noticed this issue in Fallout 4, for whatever that’s worth. My system otherwise seems stable - I’ve never had a BSOD, abrupt shut down, etc. while gaming or otherwise Here’s a short video showing what I’m talking about in Rust (running at max settings, 2560x1440). The drops occur at 1:07, 3:06, 3:21, 5:22, 7:22, 7:37, and 9:38 in this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9aYpAuR_n-4 And in Halo (running at max settings, 2560x1440). Sorry about the choppy video, that’s an artifact of OBS recording. The drops occur at 0:13, 2:15, 4:14, 4:30, 6:30, 8:30, 8:45, and 10:45: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwRCJ7zu_is Whether or not RTSS or HWinfo is running doesn’t make a difference and aren’t contributing to the issue as far as I can tell. The issue didn’t occur more or less frequently with OBS recording, so what you see in these videos is typical of how I experience the issue. Interestingly, this problem does NOT occur when running benchmarks. I have had no problem running 3DMark Time Spy and Unigine Heaven (in the latter case, for long periods of time), and I was able to run Prime95 overnight with no errors. I also don’t notice it when using my CPU for non-gaming purposes, nor when I’m playing VR (I have a Valve Index that I run at max resolution and 144Hz). Half Life: Alyx, Beat Saber, and Superhot VR all run well without this behavior occurring. It seems to be limited strictly to gaming on my desktop monitors, and unfortunately it completely ruins games that I like to play (FPS). This would be a tolerable problem if it were fixable by simply dropping settings, but even at low settings and low resolutions in these games, the issue still occurs. BUILD (all of my components were bought new): Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix X570-E (though I’ve also tried putting everything on an ASUS X570 PRIME-PRO board) CPU: Ryzen 9 3900X GPU: PNY RTX 2080 Ti (inb4 “y no 30XX”) RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16 GB DDR4 x 4, running in DOCP at 3200 MHz Drives: Samsung 970 EVO 1 TB SSD (OS and games are installed on this drive), WD Black 4 TB 7200 RBP HDD (data only) PSU: SuperFlower Leadex Gold 1300W Monitors: Samsung 32” 1440p 144Hz x 2, LG 32” 1080p ultrawide OS: Windows 10 with all updates installed 3DMark Time Spy Score: https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/51076894 During gaming, my CPU temps typically run around 65-70C and my GPU runs around 70-80C. I know my temps are high and I’m planning on doing a custom loop in the near future to try and cool things down, but I don’t think I’m getting any thermal throttling. My CPU never goes above 80C and my GPU never goes above 85C. My CPU and GPU are running stock with no overclocking applied on my part. THINGS I’VE TRIED, NONE OF WHICH HAVE SOLVED THE PROBLEM: Hardware: Updating chipset drivers Changed PCI power saving to off in Windows power settings Changed wireless adapter power saving to low power saving in Windows power settings Turning on/off HPET Running RAM at stock Running Memcheck and Windows Memory Diagnostic - no issues identified in RAM Re-seating the GPU and installing the GPU in an alternate PCIe slot Changing the motherboard (from an X570 PRIME-PRO to a ROG Strix X570-E) Unplugging the front USB panel panel on the case Running only a single monitor using different ports on the GPU Removing my CPU cooler and reapplying thermal paste (resulted in a slight drop in temps, otherwise no change in the behavior) Unplugging my HDD from the motherboard and only running the SSD Disabling FreeSync on my 144Hz monitors Yes, my monitor cables are plugged into the GPU and not the motherboard Software: Re-installing Windows - I get the same issue when the only things installed are stock Windows, Nvidia drivers (without GeForce Experience), and Steam - the drive was formatted before installation Updating GPU drivers (currently running the most recent Game Ready drivers) and BIOS Changing Windows power plan settings (currently running Ryzen High Performance, no change when running with Ryzen Balanced or the Windows High Performance setting) Tweaking a variety of Nvidia driver settings (namely, changing the power management mode to “prefer maximum performance” though I’ve also tried settings suggested in a variety of guides on YouTube) Using DDU to uninstall and reinstall Nvidia drivers Uninstalling GeForce Experience and only running the drivers Running games in full screen/borderless/windowed modes Disabling the Steam overlay Disabling the Windows Game Bar Lowering settings in-game (including running at 1080p max settings and 1080p low settings) - my average FPS increase and GPU usage drops, but I still get the behavior LatencyMon shows no “red” readings when gaming As far as I can tell, there are no “rogue processes” that are acting up to cause the slow down that I can notice. I’ve watched processes in Task Manager and Process Manager and haven’t seen anything indicating weird disk usage or network usage or processes that abruptly utilize significant amounts of CPU/GPU. In short, essentially anything mentioned in a thread on LTT forums or Tom’s Hardware forums by searching “CPU and GPU usage drops while gaming” I’ve tried apart from replacing the CPU, GPU, and PSU (mostly because this is my first PC and I don’t have extra components hanging around). Most of the threads I’ve read include the above recommendations. I’m more than happy to post anything else that might be helpful and answer any questions. I really appreciate any help anyone can provide. If this was something that only occurred at max settings I wouldn’t mind because I could just lower quality settings or the resolution (even though this hardware should be able to run these games with no problem) - I’m not too bothered by not being able to run things at the best quality possible. The fact that this seems to occur irrespective of the settings, though, makes this an extremely frustrating issue.

I got a second hand RTX 2080TI. I am able to play a game for roughly 20 - 30min before it will suddenly freeze. There is no audio playing. It is as if my game is stuck in a screenshot. I can still navigate windows so not complete computer freeze. My thermals read in the mid 70s. I've tested on multiple games as well. I have 2 separate PCIE cables going to the card as well. Any ideas on what to try? I am currently running on : CPU : Intel Core i5 - 6600K @4.6GHZ (overclocked with core voltage of 1.325) GPU : MSI GeForce 1660Ti Gaming X RAM : 32 GB (Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB 2400Hz x 4) Motherboard : MSI Z170A SLI Plus Monitor : MSI MAG241C 23.6inch 1080p 144Hz I am planning on upgrading my GPU to RTX 2080 or RTX 2080Ti. I usually don't play much of a games. I use it for rendering purpose. (Softwares like Lumion, Blender, V-Ray etc). When I use these softwares, my GPU uses are running on 100% while the CPU barely hits the 50% mark. Is it a good choice to buy a new 2080Ti as changing CPU is difficult as I might have to change my motherboard and all ? Thanks.

So I'm not sure how to test for this let alone find others who have, but I'm curious to see if my i7 6700K is bottlenecking my RTX 2080 TI. I recently upgraded from a GTX 1080 and obviously gaming performance is significantly better, but, i'm wondering if there is any bottleneck present, therefore meaning that i could be achieving even better performance with a more modern cpu like say an i9 9900 or something. i dont have extra money to spend on the system right now and i only have the 1 pc so im wondering if anyone else has ever tested this before. Monitor: Asus PG279Q 1440p 165Hz - likely not to change anytime soon

The GPU runs 1900mhz at 74temp, it's my first time building myself. Do I need to update anything? I didnt touch my ssds or hdd, just reactivated windows, downloaded nvidia updated the driver. Two of the rgb connectors couldn't fit in with the rest of the rgb, so I ordered the corsair commander pro icue. Is there anything else I need to update or should I get a water cooling system for the GPU? Thank you all so much.

Hey I while ago i bought a RTX 2080ti with an i7 9700k. I used it for a while and i decided to overclock it now. I then noticed that my PSU was too weak (Had 600W, recommendet was min. 650). Today i got a new one (750W) and i installed it. When i tried to use the OC Scanner in the MSI Afterburner, it always says that the major limitar is Voltage and Power. I have set the sliders all the way to the right for Power Limit, Temp. limit and Core Voltage %. Why is this happening? I also cant really get any stable overclock. Pretty much everyone can get over 2000mhz with even a stock card. My GPU: https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/product/msi-geforce-rtx-2080-ti-gaming-x-trio-11gb-high-end-grafikkarte-9424299 My CPU: https://www.brack.ch/intel-cpu-core-i7-9700k-3-6-ghz-833434 My Mainboard: https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/product/asus-rog-strix-z390-f-gaming-lga-1151-intel-z390-atx-mainboard-9853832 My PSU: https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/product/seasonic-focus-plus-gold-750w-pc-netzteil-6392505 The CPU is not overclocked, RAM neither. The GPU is connected with the cables from the PSU, not any extensions. I have connected a separate cable from the PSU to the GPU for each power connector. Temparature is not a problem, case has good airflow. Temps never go over 76 degrees, even under heavy load for a long time. Thanks for your help. Sorry for any misspelling, english is not my native language :S

I'm planning to build a new pc for 3D rendering, but I'm wondering what's better, buy two rtx 2070 super and use nvlink or almost with the same money buy just one rtx 2080ti. The main 3d rendering softwares that I use is Octane, Redshift, Vray and ProRender (Cinema 4D). The thing is, it's almost the same amount of money but I think you could get better results using multiple gpus. Thank you guy for your help. I'm exited to see your points of view

Here is my scratch build. Also check out this 3D design tool I made for laying out custom scratch builds. PC Design Foundry You can select all sorts of components and move them around. You can plan out hard line water cooling and can download files as X3D. I wanted a medium tower size with good air flow bottom to top. I also wanted to have a distributor plate on the front so there are no vent openings to keep it quiet. I moved the power supply to the front of the enclosure and used an SFX form factor to get a good fit with the pump. Then I was able to fit two 360 rads along the whole length of the enclosure. I used a Micro ATX motherboard because I was not going to need 7 PCI slots. Looking back on the build I wish I had got a motherboard with built in RGB LED headers as I ended up having to get separate cables with built in controllers for the LED's in the Fans. I also should change the connection from the pump to the front distributor plate to be a soft line tube at some point to minimise the bump vibration noise. CPU. Machine first part of front distributor plate from 10 mm Cast Acrylic Tap holes for G1/4 fittings Test assembly fit check. Some components Fit check. I really wanted to have both the radiators and pump mount directly to the distributor plate with adjustable fittings instead of any additional hard line tubing. Make some custom O rings. The top fans are exhaust fans so I had to make a trim part to cover the rear labels. Powder coated. I used an outside supplier for this. Hand sand a brushed aluminum finish on the corner extrusions. I tried using a sander but it gouged the metal too much. Bottom fans are intake. A bit of a shame as you cant see the logos. Build some custom cables. Since the power supply is up front I needed some really short ones. Also sleved the pump cables. Making some custom PCI power cables. Make some hard line tubing. First off I already have a 1080ti FTW3, and a friend of mine who is building a PC offered me $700 for it, which is a bit over what they're going for on ebay for my model. It's my baby and I did pay MSRP for it so I wouldn't be taking a hit at all really. So I was thinking I could take that $700 from the sale and put it towards a 2080ti more than likely the FTW3 model which is $1300 to $1400 MSRP. I've worked it out to just over $600 out of my pocket plus the $700 I get from my 1080ti. The only thing is that I was wanting to wait at least two more years or until Navi releases to see what I wanted to do for a GPU upgrade, I basically want to know what others would do with this opportunity. If I should wait or just say F it and sell it and go for a 2080ti. I should also say I play on a 165hz 2560x1440p gsync monitor.

Hello there :D I'm a bit of a noob in the process of upgrading a Pc. I have a doudt about the compatibility of my Higos2 motherboard, wich came with the pc already. I want to know what video cards does it support and more specific, if it supports the latest RTX 2080 Ti. It could be just me but I personally don't really like the way the EVGA RTX cards look, I have an EVGA GTX 1080ti FTW3 and absolutely love it, the design is really cool to look at and in my opinion one of the best out there. But these RTX cards just look old to me. The smokey clear plastic is the worst part, if it were a solid color I don't think I'd mind too much but I can't really explain it just bothers me how they look. I was really looking forward to the new FTW3 card and man I feel disappointed. And yes by design I mean the "aesthetic" of the card.

In "Graphics Card (Cooling/VRM) Tier List (Navi Update)" post: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1046174-graphics-card-coolingvrm-tier-list-navi-update/ For graphic card, hybrid cooling is tier A, whereas wind cooling is tier B. Then, I remember that, for CPU, wind cooling is better than AIO, in both temperature and noise. So why the situation is opposite for CPU and GPU? Perhaps I misunderstand something? I plan to get a 2080Ti, choose between FTW3 Hybrid and FTW3. Based on my understanding, their performance should be fairly close (less than 10%, or even 5%), as Nvidia's boosting technique has already push the GPU to the limit, so the extra improvement for those high-end models is very limited, right? If so, I wonder, which one would cooler and less noisy?

So I bought an RTX 2080 ti Founders Edition and when it arrived I straight away thought I'd been scammed. What arrived was the shape and look of the correct model but without any "RTX 2080 ti" markings anywhere. Not between the fans or on the black plate. To make things even more confusing it has the green light up logo on the side....But it says "Gefore GTX" instead of "RTX". Now here is the weird part.....it's a genuine RTX 2080 ti! GPU Z confirms it and it performs like the real thing. For example when I play Far Cry 5 the frame rate is so high at times it becomes CPU bound. It overclocks like the real thing and when I actually opened it up to check the chip...yup! A1 "Made in Taiwan". As of now no one can give me any information about this. I just want to know if it is like a prototype or something. As far as I'm concerned I have a real RTX 2080 ti....it just looks wrong. Any information is greatly recieved.

Hello everyone! First time on this forum and made it because Linus told me to (well he advised looking on his forum for help). I recently had a buddy help me build my current rig but i honestly feel like it is nowhere near what it should be when it comes to graphical performance, all of this came to fruition when I loaded up Forza Horizon 4 for the first time on PC and a few minutes of building a car my whole PC shuts down. I have not had any issues with other games when it comes to my computer shutting down but i also feel like the other games are not being fed enough frames. Here is my build in broad strokes... Motherboard: Asus Prime X570-Pro CPU: AMD Ryzen 3800X GPU: Asus ROG RTX 2080 Ti 11GB OC RAM: Viper 16GB DDR4 1600 MHz x2 (32GB total) I feel like this may be it PSU: Corsair 1200HXi Can provide any further information upon request just looking for guidance on what could be holding it back and making it feel slugish. (RGB isnt helping even though it should)

Recently got an Nvidia RTX 2080 ti FE. Out of the box, I paired it with the EK Vector block and put it in my custom loop along with an Intel 9900K on the Asus ROG Maximums XI Formula. Without overcloocking the GPU, I ran a couple of benchmarks, all of which show occasional flickering black boxes while under load. Stock clock speeds were at 1350 mhz while idle, and 1980 mhz under load. The same thing happens while in game. Kingdom Come Deliverance 2019.10.06 - 12.55.59.04.mp4 I've tried increasing the power limit to 123%, increase the voltage limit to 75 mV, and downclocking the GPU -50 MHz, but the problem has seem to have gotten worse, with the flickering getting more and more frequent. I'm not sure if it's my monitor (ASUS VG248QE), or old drivers (NVIDIA 436.48), or if the NVIDIA control panel settings are off (3D settings "Max Performance is preferred" and Vsync OFF). Any help would be appreciated.
