So for the past few days the home wifi had been cutting out for 5 minutes then coming back on for 5 minutes. I unplug the router (it's the one Rogers gave us) and it don't fix anything. The internet to the house will just cut in and out like clockwork from about midnight till about 5 am. So my mom calls Rogers today's and the guys says "ok I'll fix it for you". So he fixed it. But he said he needs to "dump junk encrypted data manually" he said he does this all the time at his place and to call back every 2 or 3 weeks to have this done again.. WTF I've never heard of this and are you kidding me about doing this every 2 or 3 weeks? Never heard of this. Is she being dooped?

So I've been having tons of issues w/ my Gigabit Cable service over the last few weeks (Gigabit download, 50 Meg Upload), and one of the things the Rogers Support Technician mentioned (kind of off hand) was that plugging a Cable Modem into a Surge Protector can cause sync/connection issues. This - to me - sounds absolutely idiotic - maybe if you have a shit surge protector that is defective? But a properly working one? Anyway, the Tech had me unplug the modem from the surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet - which, of course, did not solve the issue I was having. So, I was curious: Is that a real concern that can cause issues, or was he talking out his ass?

I just called into rogers due to a price increase in my bill. They said they are "mandated" by the CRTC to increase their cable internet prices year by year. Is this true? They keep increasing my bill by $5 here and there. WHen i called in, they also said the only way to get cheaper prices is by signing a new 2 year contract. Is this normal? I know they want to secure more business and stuff, but i'm a small business owner who has been with rogers for about 8 years now, it went from $65 monthly to $140 monthly for cabled internet from a small business plan. Anyone here with some experience in this?: Sorry if its posted in wrong area, but not sure where else to post it.

I'm in need of some help. I recently upgraded to the Gigabit plan with Rogers and their new modem uses DOCSIS 3.1 (Hitron CODA-4582). With my previous setup, I had the Rogers modem in bridge mode with my D Link DIR 868L. Now, the new Rogers router won't work with my D Link router. I've contacted Rogers support and we came to the conclusion that its the D Link DIR 868L that isn't compatible with DOCSIS 3.1. We found out when it wasn't connecting to the D Link one in bridge mode but will connect when plugged into my laptop in bridge mode. So, now I'm shopping for a new router. If anyone knows anything, as I don't, that would be great. Would be better if the website is Canadian as I'm going to try and find the router in store.

Story time... So recently I finally got fed up with Rogers' CODA-4582U crap-tastic Wi-Fi, lackluster speed, terrible range and unacceptable unreliability. I picked up a Ubiquiti UniFi UAP-AC-PRO on sale for a great price, got it connected and configured pretty easily, went to disable the Wi-Fi built into the CODA-4582U, turned the wireless OFF for both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz, getting great speeds (from the Ubiquiti) about 300Mbps on my PC AND 280Mbps on my phone and excellent range to boot (reliability yet to be evaluated, but I'm guessing the Ubiquiti is probably going to cream the Hitron) so all's well right? NO! A new wireless network called "Easy Connect" / "Easy Connect 5G" has appeared in my list of available networks on both my PC and my phone, well all my clients really... So I thought to myself WTF is this network? At first I thought it was the maybe the guest network for the Ubiquiti, but according to the hardware MAC Address it is indeed the Hitron CODA-4582U. Apparently, this SSID gets turned on automatically when no other wireless config is present or Wi-Fi is turned off altogether and it's meant to use the "Easy Connect" software (available from Rogers on their website) to connect PCs, phones etc, to the Modem/Wireless Router and configure the Wi-Fi Network, if for some reason you don't own an ethernet cable and are a huge masochist... :/ I cannot figure out how to turn this network off! It's mere presence is seriously messing with my OCD, my siblings have already tried to connect to the internet using it by mistake twice and according to Wi-Fi analyser it runs on channel 1 and upto channel 5 and is potentially interfering with my shiny new Ubiquiti Wi-Fi! (I'm aware you can change Wi-Fi channels in the Ubiquiti app and have sone so) I looked in the Hitron CODA-4582U'S official user manual for help and found this: Well, if the manual is accurate to how the CODA-4582U is programmed, this problem makes a degree of sense. So naturally I'm at a complete loss on how to turn the Wi-Fi hardware off completely and am considering taking it apart and attempting to remove the Wi-Fi antennae completely, but I'm guessing they might just be built right into the circuit board with no way to disable or remove them. Note: I am aware I could have just gotten a third-party Modem and separate Wireless Router, but I didn't feel like going through the hassle of having one "provisioned" (did that for my grandparents' network, it was hell) and I was on a very tight budge the only reason I was able to afford the Ubiquiti is because it was on sale on Newegg during labour day for 40% off. My home network is also fairly complicated, consisting of many, many wired and wireless clients, security devices, VOIP, as well as a File/Media server and I didn't want to have to completely redesign and partially re-wire my home network, nor do I want to split my Wireless and Wired networks into 2 separate networks or subnets as that makes using SMB very complicated. I can also confirm that setting the Modem to Bridged mode turns on "Easy Connect" as well! Please give me any suggestions about how to disable the "Easy Connect" network, I'm open to jailbreaking etc. Thank You in advance!

So recently i had acquired a 144hz 27inch AOC C27G1 monitor and is great but... games only seem to be running at 80-85fps and I'm pretty stumped at what it could be, I had been using a 75hz 24inch LG monitor (not sure about the model) before i "upgraded" and it was getting 250-300fps on titles such as call of duty modern warfare and now its getting way lower but not just on that game its happening of all the games i have (BeamNG drive, GTA 5, Far cry 5 etc). I'm running a Strix RTX 2070 Super with a i5-8600a and 8gb RAM (i know i need more) on a Strix Z390-F motherboard w/600w PSU. All Nvidia drivers are up to date but i couldn't install the monitor drivers but didn't think that would do much as i didn't do it for my old monitor either. Do i need to get more RAM? upgrade CPU? please help! I don't want to have to spend money if i can avoid it but if it'll fix my problem then I'm all ears or eyes? thanks ?

Anyone using Rogers as their ISP at home and Private Internet Access for a VPN? If yes do you have the Hitron CODA-4582 (white brick) modem? Any issues with getting it all working with multiple devices? Looking to signup with PIA but I have had issues with Rogers and VPN services. Getting a decent 3rd party router is on my list of things to get but the modem and switch I have currently get the job done. thank you

sumofus.org is saying that Bell, Cineplex, Rogers, and Shaw "are pushing to create an internet "blacklist" of certain websites that all internet service providers in Canada would legally have to block.", called the "Internet Piracy Review Agency" (IPRA), with no court oversight. According to sumofus.org the vote is happening tomorrow. Currently there is a petition on sumofus.org to "stop the corporate control over our internet". In the article on huffingtonpost.ca, comments from the companies behind this push seem to unanimously say that this is to fight against piracy. Rob Malcolmson (senior VP at Bell) said "Many of the most prominent global players in the piracy ecosystem operate out of Canada as a relative safe harbour, and Canadians made 1.88 billion visits to piracy sites last year.". I think it's pretty obvious that this is a bad thing for us consumers and should be stopped. This is a very slippery slope leading towards the banning of any site, not just those meant for pirating. Since there is no court oversight to this blacklist it probably wouldn't be that hard, or take them that long, to start using this blacklist to their advantage. Imagine if Shaw and Rogers (owners of Canadian streaming service Shomi) used their influence to put any competitor (such as Netflix) on this blacklist. Other sites covering this topic include michaelgeist.ca, and iphoneincanada.ca.

I'm over due on my upgrade for my cellphone. I currently have a LG G something or other. Its been a brilliant phone, it easily makes it through the day on a single charge (bluetooth, navigation, and screen always on). Anyways. I'm looking at the Blackberry Priv. I have a few concerns. Blackberries were previously notorious with batteries failing and the phones disassembling themselves with safe use. What I just described is what happened to my past two phones, both Blackberries, prior to my LG. So, Does the Blackberry priv have the same issues? does anyone own one that can share their experience?

Main Source: http://www.theverge.com/2015/10/5/9455517/rogers-4k-tv-streaming-gigabit-internet-sports Secondary Source: http://www.newswire.ca/news-releases/rogers-announces-gigabit-internet-and-worlds-largest-commitment-to-live-sports-broadcasting-in-4k-with-hdr-530691121.html Tertiary Source: http://www.rogers.com/web/support/account/tv4k-ignite/389 Starting April 2016, for the low-low price of $149 a month, you can get 4k quality internet (aka, "Gigabity Internet") from Rogers. The article doesn't mention if the 4k sports content is included in the 149 price though... which leads me to assume it doesn't. Following This Link (source 2) from the article, it says: To me that says you get only get the set top box (which is probably a rental) and the Internet (Down: 1 Gigabit per second. Up: 50 Megabits per second)(source 3) and you'll probably then have to pay for a package after that. TL;DR: If you're made of money, live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and have a 4K TV, you can get 4K sports from Rogers in April 2016 for $149/mo.

So I am thinking about making the switch from Shaw to Rogers for their 250/20 ($95/month) plan since the price is about the same as what I'am paying at Shaw for 60/10 ($90/month). Does anyone have experience with Rogers as I have never in my life dealt with them. Is there service reliable?

So here's the story behind my question... We've been a Rogers customer for a while and when we upgraded speeds they told us we needed a better router AIO unit so they gave us one but the problem is that that was roughly 3-5 years ago today so because I'm starting to get into networking and hosting servers; The whole nine yards but because it's an old unit whenever I enable certain features others suffer and I've had a couple units exactly the same that still perform as poorly. So the other day I was looking at the other box/modem next to the Router and realized there was a WAN port on it so because I'd heard it was possible to tell Rogers that you want to use your own Router they can either help you configure it or enable a feature that was disable before and right now I'm thinking it's that WAN port I found. Now that I've found that port I started looking around and have been thinking of getting the TP-LINK AC1750 C7 because of all the features that come with it, I can install openWRT/DDWRT if I ever feel the need and I has Wireless AC which I've been dying to try on my HTC One M7 since I bought it. Now for the question... Would it be possible that they have actually disabled the WAN port on the other box/modem so the router gets all the Internet signals and if it's already enabled how hard would it be to set up without asking them for help. Thank you in advance if I don't end up thank you for your response

First news post! There's a pretty interesting promotion rogers is running, where if you order your HTC One M8 on the national reservation system, that you can get the HTC One M8 prior to the launch date!, I'm unsure to how rogers is able to do such a promotion, which is rare for a Canadian carrier, but for those with rogers, and are planning to get the HTC One M8, I'd hop on this one pretty fast! Hello all, I might be picking up a GS3 for $60 on Tuesday. I'd like to flash it with CM11 but I can't find the appropriate ROM on the CM Download page. Can anyone tell me if I can use the AT&T firmware? I thought you could because the AT&T and Rogers GS3 are the same Model. Any help is appreciated.

Bell, Rogers and Telus are getting together to keep Verizon out of Canada. Is this good or bad? Read more in this article by The Verge. http://www.theverge.com/2013/7/28/4563600/three-largest-canadian-carriers-lobby-to-keep-verizon-out
