I'm looking to get a Rode PodMic or a HyperX Quadcast X as a replacement of my current Razer Seiren Mini. I'm finding it pretty hard to find some good comparisons of the 2 mics online so I thought I'd ask here. Thanks in advance

Looking to hopefully get some extra clarity on my decision, below are what I'm considering, budget is under $300AUD (200usd) Rode NT-USB+ Would hands down get this one only the lack of a mute button is putting me off, sometimes I need to quickly hit it and I ideally don't want to rely on software (rarely but sometimes have issues with my corsair virtuoso mic button not muting) Purchasing voicemod to mute map a mute button via icue software worse case Elgato Wave 3 Appears to be a decent mic, all physical controls where there needed as well as a mute botton. Review paint it in an average light, possible background noise pickup if not positioned right Hyperx Quadcast S RGB USB Seems to have good reviews, with all the buttons I need Adjustable polar patterns, is this handy to have? Looking at this over the standard due to USB C connection also, RGB is a bonus, hopefully I can have some form of control without the software or as I better sticking to the red? TIA

Hello! I let a friend borrow my podmic to record some voice overs and he unscrewed the side arm because he thought that would make it easier to pack. Unfortunately I have no idea how to screw the sidearm back on and I also don't know the exact order of the little rings in there. Could someone please check their Podmic or maybe help me figure out how to put it back together. Thank you for your help in advance!

Been using this mcicrophone for under a year now and a couple months ago int started acting very perculiarly. The main thing is it will randomly drop its level making it impossible to hear on discord. The issues seems to be windows based as even audacity will pickup the drop in level. Whats wierd is it seems to happen primarily when i try streaming or play games whilst in a discord call. The only remedy is top open the sounds control panel, go to recording, go to the mics properties and adjust the level back and forth, usually down and back up to 100. I got rather fed up with this and went back to my old microphone, a blue snowball, that despite being damaged, did not suffer th same droops in level and stayed consistently loud. I contacted the store i got my RODE from and they issued me a replacemnt which is suffering the same issue. Any idea to what this may be? I've tried re-installing drivers. Haven't recieved any resposne from RODE. I do have multiple devices connected, even when theyre all turned off issue persists. I've made sure the settings dont allow other programs to control the microphones level. Any help would be grealty appreciated.

Hey, I recently bought a RODE POD and a Behringer XENYX 502. When I hooked it up to my PC I couldn't hear anything via Discord. I turned up my Gain and Level but now I sound like I'm talking into a metal tube and I'm still pretty quiet. It seems like I'm only loud enough when my mic clips. I already set my mic to 100 in Windows and unchecked the option that other Programs can change my Settings. In local recordings, the mic sounds great but no Discord setting works for me. Does anyone know what's going on?

What is said on the box really; my RODE NT-USB microphone has suddenly stopped working when I upgraded my daily driver / gaming rig to Windows 10 (very late, amirite?). I've tried multiple ports, rebooting, different computers (it worked on them) and other stuff, but i I cant figure out what's wrong. Please send help before I fall into the abyss of console gaming.....

I have been using my older Nikon D5200 for video for the past while, as I know how to use it well, and I know it works. So two weeks ago I was filming an event with my D750, and I reviewed the audio afterward and it was complete trash. Popping, weird clipping, all sorts of things highly undesirable in an audio file. The audio was unusable. I was using my trusty Rode VideoMic Pro, and I had ensured that the mic cable wasn't touching the camera. I also was using manual focus, so the focus motor wasn't the problem. I had just changed the battery in the VideoMic. Now I want to get to the bottom of this, so I just tested both; D5200 with mic-fine, D5200 with onboard mic-fine, D750 with mic-gross audio, and D750 with onboard mic-fine. I always set the pre-amp on the camera to around 5-10, and use the boost on the VideoMic or when I am editing to get an acceptable volume. What am I doing wrong, or what setting must I change?

Hey guys, I am in the process of buying a Røde NT1-A, the only insecurity for me at the moment is how I am going to mount it to my desk. I will soon have a 27" Triple monitor setup and dont want the Microphone to block my sight on any of the monitors since I am also goning to use it for voicechat while gaming and working. As I said, I am unsure about how to mount it and how much distance there has to be between my mouth for the mic for it to sound best, I also don't know how the microphone should be oriented. I have seen some solutions by other people but neither of them seemed to reflect my purpose of using the microphone. I would also like to have a microphone arm, since this is what seems to be the easiest option to tuck the mic away when I don't need it at the moment. Do you guys have any idea on how to mount the mic ideally? Thanks a lot in advance!

Hi, i'm helping some friends to find some audio gear for their choir. They already have an active speaker (no brand, about 200W), a Behringer UB502 and a crappy dynamic microphone, but since the group is getting bigger they need more microphones and a better mixer. They have 2 acoustic guitars, a keyboard, a violin and 3-6 singers. I planed on getting them a Behringer Xenyx Q1204USB mixer, maybe it's a little overkill but that should be enough if they expand more or get better speakers. I wanted the outputs to be balanced since the mixer will be about 10m away from the amp. My biggest problem now is to find the microphones, i guess they would need 2 microphones for their guitars and they would like to get one microphone for all the singers maybe a large-diaphragm condenser microphone? Do u guys have any recommendations? A guy at our local music shop recommended me a matched pair of Rode M5 for the guitars but i'd like to hear a second opinion.

Hey peeps! So couple of days ago I placed my order for Rode's Podcaster mic + swivel arm and shock mount. Although it will be a huge upgrade compared to my HyperX Cloud 2 mic, from time to time Podcaster's sound signature does sound a tad bit "bland" so I was wondering is there any recommended hard/software that i should use to mildly modify the signature? I was also considering RODE's Procaster mic as well but I don't have neither the hardware nor the knowledge to run an XLR mic. I'm an audio noob and until now I've bought the equipment that Linus has recommended in his videos so all types of tips and tricks to bump up my audio know-how would be greatly appreciated.

Why is it that this particular arm almost never seems to drop in cost? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001D7UYBO/?tag=googhydr-20&hvadid=163531472797&hvpos=1t1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7512782589486004684&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=b&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9010496&hvtargid=kwd-66105476298&ref=pd_sl_2blf4rrq6r_b Also, why does Amazon keep recommending a cruddier arm as the "successor" to this one...from a different brand?

Hello, all... I have 2 problems, the first problem is the main one for now. I am using the MG10XU as previously stated and my PC does not recognize the microphone, when I go in Recording Devices it's grayed out. I am using a RODE NT1 microphone. FrontMic and Microphone have "Not Plugged In" status, which means that I can't use the microphone.. Currently I have connected to the Mixer the USB cable, Power Cable, 2 Audio Cables for the headphone sound, the Headphones themselves (HD558) and of course the XLR cable into the Microphone... The red Phantom Power button is on, the Gain and Level knobs are turned up and the USB/Line button is pressed. The second problem, which is still annoying but not that important at this moment is the USB cable gives me a very bad humming or static crackling when I plug it in. The sound is great all the way up to the maximum output when only the Stereo Headphone 3.5 cables are plugged in but the moment I put the USB in and there's a noticeable sound problem even when I am listening at half volume. I have the latest drivers installed from http://download.yamaha.com/search/product/?language=en&site=usa.yamaha.com&category_id=16506&product_id=1904369 I believe this is due to something called a "ground loop" which I do not know how to deal with right now, tried different power outlets, moved cables, changed cables etc... Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance!

Hey Guys, I have some questions regarding Rode's PSA1 boom arm. I couldn't think of any other place other than this forum to ask, this is my first post ever. So here's my query: I have a Rode NT-USB and I want a boom arm to go along with it, my choice is the rode PSA1 boom arm as it holds good reviews. So, I was wondering- Do I need to invest in a shock mount in addition to the boom arm? Cheers -Pilocide

I used to have a Blue Snowball Ice, worked great for years until when joinging discord one day it just "died". Control panel and device manager would recognise it as normal, and i could check details it all seemd well but nowhere would pick up sound anymore. Not discord, audacity or windows sound. I reinstalled drivers, removed the devices and plugged them back in, tried different ports. I dont have another pc to test it on. But despite showing up as connected and live, and despite the light being on on the device ntohing would pick up. So i assume dit dead and picked up a new one; a Rode NTUSB. It's been great so far, amazing, until just now, after joining another discord call it had the exact same symptoms, Windows would recognise the device as operational and connected but wouldnt pick up sound. The light and power to the device is still on. The NT USB also has a passthrough for in wear monitoring, and oddly enough, that works fine, infact the mic still pics up my voice for in ear monitoring. The snwoball didnt have this feature so i had no idea if it was still operational. This has to be a win10 issue right? Any insight as to what i could try or whats wrong? Thanks!

Hello everyone I've had this issue for a while, but never cared to look more into it until now, since I've decided to go back to streaming... Set up and configs: I've got a Rode NT2-A hooked up to a Yamaha MG06X mixer (non-usb), which is hooked up to a Scarlett 2i2 1st. Gen (all of them being at least 4yo) connected to my pc (which is fairly old, running an i7-3820 since late 2012). After messing a bit with the filters for Mic/Aux on OBS, I got to a fairly good point, having my noise supressions levels being between -35 to -60dB (since I`ve got quite a loud computer running on the background), and my output gain being from 4 - 10db depending on how much gain I initially add through the audio interface and/or mixer. Issue at hand: Whenever I'm quiet and the mic ins't reaching the threshold set by me (-16dB for close and -30dB for open), you are still able to see the audio levels going up and down constantly and hear some, although very quiet, weird noises that shouldn't be there, as shown here: https://youtu.be/oiMPMbLDh_0 I don't think the noises comming through are a result to some Obs glitch; neither a faulty audio driver for my scarlet 2i2; but rather from a hardware issue related to the mixer, audio interface or even the microphone. I've also tried muting the microphone'`s volume at the mixer, and just adding gain from the scarlett interface, which made this sound in result: https://voca.ro/osMaCfQ3LQm Could this be just my interface fucking up; ground loops or mechanical noise coming from my pc and getting through the audio interface? I've got no idea what it could actually be, but will be willing to provide anything so I can behind all this. Thanks Everyone, Bala.
