  1. It was backlight bleed as it didn't improve from different distances, angles or brighter room. Additionally the bleed is visible during normal content as a washed out color area forms where the bleed is strongest, meaning it doesn't depend on the content on screen, which is the backlight. See my last comment for the full explanation and image. Unfortunately I'm not at home but as soon as I'm back I'll add more photos. So last week I decided to buy this 2023 LG GP95RP-B 400 nits IPS (on the left, while on the right is a Samsung G3 VA 250 nits) that retailed for 650+ EUR and I got it for 485 form LG itself. Colors, brightness, contrast...all is good, except for the IPS glow, which is too strong even with my 2000nits lightbulb. In the photo you can see the glow in the corners, the areas where it's darker is just Local Dimming, which gives a good black level, whereas with LD off the entire screen looks like those corners and it's unbearable. It's a pretty uniform bad glow and even getting farther doesn't do much. My Legion 5 15ARH7H 300 nits IPS is magnitudes better, so much so that I watch movies on it. Even my cheapo Dell S2319H form 2018 has lower IPS glow. Could it be a bad run? Should I ask for a replacement? Thank a lot, really appreciate.
  2. So i sent my GPU in via warranty/RMA to MSI this morning. I thought that this particular graphical glitch I was getting could've been from my GPU since it's almost 3 years old. I just rebooted about 10 minutes ago and got the same glitch on my spare gpu. It's a sheet of purple vertical bars that I can't make any pictures out of. I unplugged my HDMI cord from the back of the GPU and it got better. I'm afraid it's something wrong with the monitor as I'm not sure if I have the warranty on it to send it in. Could it be my hdmi cord? It goes away almost instnatly once I un/replug the cord. Any help is appreciated.
  3. Hey everybody! edit: I'm so sorry for such a long post, really needed to vent this First of all I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to post this kind of thing, it's literally my first post here. I'm not sure if I need/want help at this point, just really want to vent my experience and break down what happened to get some inputs/feedback if there are any. English is not my first language so I'm sorry if I say anything silly. About a month ago I bought a 2022 Asus Zephyrus G15 GA503RS laptop on a physical IT store nearby. It came with 16GBs of RAM and an empty slot. As I was buying it, I asked the store guy to get me a compatible 32GB ram stick, and ended up getting a "Team Group SO-DIMM 32GB DDR5 4800Mhz Elite CL40" so that I could upgrade it to 48GBs. Once I arrived home and was opening the laptop to install the new ram stick, I noticed the seal was broken. I should've just stopped there and see it as a red flag, but thought maybe they just opened it to test something and didn't think too much about it at the time. (but I did take a photo just in case) The laptop came with no operating system. My intention was to run Linux on it since it's what use on my daily job, but eventually decided to install Windows just to make sure everything was working properly. At first I didn't get any issues with the laptop (was just installing stuff / setting up my environment / there was no real work load on it), but after a week or 2 I had to go to the office and finally got to use it properly. Shortly after running VirtualBox on it and get some work done, the computer froze and got some screen artifacts. There was nothing I could do, so had to force shut down. Once it came back to life I started looking for possible GPU problems on reddit, and shortly after it froze again. 590f3e.mp4 Since the laptop came with no OS, I gave it the benefit of the doubt and thought maybe I screwed up installing the drivers, and on the following days I spent some time making sure everything was properly installed. I've assembled my previous 3 desktops, have an engineering degree and my previous (still functional) laptop, a Toshiba L850 has been up a running for the past 11 years with all the maintenance (and several replaced parts) done by me, so the Tech in me tried to "solve the problem" instead of playing dumb and just returning it to the store. After double checking everything, the laptop would sometimes still crash. I disabled sleep mode since it also seemed to be an issue (it would sleep and not come back) and from time to time it would also freeze on the boot logo (before getting to the BIOS) e04209.mp4 Shortly before the 30 days return policy and since I was going to return it without the ram stick, I gave it a last shot and tried to run MemTest86 to see if there were any obvious red flags. 41 seconds into the test (booted from a USB drive, so there was on OS / drivers in play) the laptop froze once again. I then removed the extra ram stick, ran everything, and... after 2hours, it PASSED. I then went to the store and tried to explain the whole troubleshoot process, gave them images/proof and told them to consider a faulty ram stick or a faulty ram slot. I didn't find the original package for the ram stick, but I had a couple anti-static bags from HDs at home, so I did a nice package to transport it. They said something like "We can't declare it as Dead On Arrival since you already installed an extra stick, but we will send it to Asus RMA" Well... I kinda understand that I "tampered with the device", but how would I find out about a faulty slot without ever using it? Or a fault ram stick without using it? It's like buying a new motherboard, attaching stuff to it (it's what they're made for) and then have some guy saying "well, now that you changed the variables, we can't promise you anything" At the time I was like "Yeah well, whatever, just put everything I said and done on the report and send it to Asus". I'm aware that Asus only takes the "original configuration" on their RMA process, so I asked if I should keep the ram stick to myself or leave it with them. They insisted that I also keep it there, since it could be a stick problem, so they would try to test different sticks on it and also run tests on that one. The process took about 2 weeks and then I received an e-mail saying that everything was ready to be picked up at the store. Once I got there, I asked the guy (this time was actually a girl) if they could tell me the report feedback and she was like "Yeah sure, we haven't looked into it, but they usually leave a written report inside the package" I went to read it and it said something like: "Problem solved. The laptop presented some weird noise on the speakers, and they were replaced under warranty" I was speechless. Didn't they read the whole thing about the crashes and the ram? There was no double check on the report made by the store? I couldn't care less about the speakers, I never even used them and have no idea there was actually a problem or not. The "good news" is, they opened my "tampered device" and found nothing wrong with it. I then asked if they even tried to troubleshoot the second ram slot, and they were like "Oh, since it originally comes empty, Asus will not test that". So... I can now start selling laptops with faulty slots because "the empty ones will not be tested anyway", how does that work? I asked for my ram stick and the lady started looking for it (oh god) saying it had to be somewhere... it was sent without any packaging just stumbling around on an empty card box. Now I started getting really angry and trying to fight for my rights, it was no longer about "helping them troubleshoot the thing", I wanted to see something getting done. The ram stick has a life time warranty (whatever that means) so I asked if they at least concluded that there was a problem there, and the lady tells me "Well, if you want, you can leave it here and we will test it for you" Lady... You guys have been holding it for the past 2 weeks, wasn't that the whole point of leaving it here? She ended up apologizing for the whole thing, asked for 1 more week there and said they would RMA it again to Asus while trying to make sure the original report was accounted for. Any input you guys can give me on this? What are my options here? Any known policy on empty slots? How can I ask them to make sure they work since "they are unused on the original configuration"? I get the feeling I'm gonna end up with my money burned on this, they will take no accountability for the whole thing and just say "it is what it is".
  4. Hello! My first post here, so please forgive if I miss anything critical. Also, I've already gone through a LOT, so this post is quite a long one. Parts list is linked at the end. I've been having issues lately with most games crashing to desktop. I've done a lot of troubleshooting, but I want to see if I've missed anything. I'm pretty certain the issue is a bad GPU, however I've already RMA'd the card and gotten it back from the manufacturer (MSI), and the problem is still there. MSI's RMA process did say they "fixed" the card but the reporting from them seemed suspect to me, and comparing the card to photos I took before sending it in shows nothing was touched physically (tamper stickers are untouched and all screws are turned to the exact same angle as prior to the RMA). The problem: Issues with stability when playing games that rely on the 3D engine. The games will crash to desktop, but beyond that the system continues to run fine (no BSoD, no hang-ups requiring a forced restart, no unexpected shut-downs, no overheating, etc). Several of the games will display a general crash report, others won't. There is always an Event Viewer System error thrown that I outline below. Some days I can play for a couple hours with no issues, most times the games will repeatedly crash within minutes of starting up or as soon as I load into the game from the menu. My system is not using any custom over- or underclocking other than the stock XMP profile in the BIOS. replacing my MSI 3080 with an older EVGA 2080 Super seems to fix the issue HOWEVER, during the RMA process I did have two crashes with the 2080 Super that had the same Event Viewer warnings while playing games. I feel pretty certain that the issue is being caused by the GPU, but I want to make certain before I start fighting with MSI Support again. Could this be caused by the PSU being too small? Could it be a bad PCI-e slot? Could Windows be to blame? Games I've had issues with: Spider-Man Remastered (Steam) The Witcher 3 Next-gen Update, DX12 version (Steam) High on Life (Xbox Game Pass) Assassin's Creed: Odyssey (Steam) Assassin's Creed: Valhalla (Steam) Elden Ring (Steam) Forza Horizon 5 (Xbox Game Pass) Cyberpunk (Steam) Games/situations I do not have issues with: Graveyard Keeper (Steam) Dwarf Fortress (Steam Edition) Heroes of Hammerwatch (Steam) Vampire Survivors (Steam) Any kind of general usage outside of games, such as having many MS Edge tabs open, running Photoshop, watching YouTube videos, etc. Error messages observed in Event Viewer: Error - The description of Event ID 0 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found... (thrown every time a game crashes) Warning - The display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered. (less common) Troubleshooting I've attempted since the card has been returned to me by MSI: 3dmark - I've tried running several of the benchmark programs Time Spy - Never successfully loads, throws error "DXGI call IDXGISwapChain::Present failed [0X887A0005]" when transitioning from the loading screen to the test. This happens on both fullscreen and custom windowed. Speed Way - Never successfully loads. Throws error "An error occurred. No result produced." when transitioning from the loading screen to the test. This happens on both fullscreen and custom windowed. Fire Strike Extreme - Has completed several times. It has also failed several times but only on the combined portion of the test. I have sent the reports into the 3Dmark team and they feel that it is a hardware issue. OCCT Prior to the RMA, running the GPU test returns numerous errors within the first minute. Since the RMA I was able to run the test for over an hour twice with no errors found. Running the CPU and Memory tests for prolonged periods of time come back clean (multiple hours used for each test). HCI Memtest I've admittedly not run this for longer than a few hours at a time, but I've maxed out memory usage with no errors reported. Memtest86 I've run the full compliment of tests twice with no issues found. Furmark I've left this one running for a while but have not encountered any artifacting issues. Temperature Monitoring (using HWiNFO64) Temps in the machine are on the high-side of acceptable under prolonged heavy load. The GPU reaches the mid-70's C with very small spikes to around 80 C. CPU stays in the mid-70's as well. Overall system temp stays around 56 C. Ambient room temp is around 20 C. Forced debug mode via the Nvidia Control Panel (Regardless, I don't do any custom over- or underclocking) Used DDU to uninstall and reinstall my graphics drivers Reverted to older compatible graphics drivers Made sure my PC is running in ultimate performance power mode Turned off Windows Hardware Acceleration Updated MoBo BIOS to latest version Swapped the MSI 3080 with an EVGA 2080 Super - this seems to fix the problem, but I did still have two crashes over about 50 hours of playtime while waiting for the 3080 RMA where as the 3080 would crash almost instantly without fail. Additional planned troubleshooting: Clean-installing Win11. The current install is less than a year old, but worth a try. Putting the 3080 into a different system with similar hardware - hopefully I can get this done some time this week, but trying to sync schedules can be rough! 5. Hey guys, Recently, my family has gifted me a 4090 Strix as a graduation present considering I've just graduated from college with honors and an Advanced Diploma. That being said, although I am happy that I will now be joining the 40 series gang this unfortunately does mean I will be parting ways with my beloved 3080 ti from EVGA. It served it's purpose and I will miss the customer service EVGA brought me whenever I had issues with EVGA hardware. Whether it being GPUs or PSUs, I still firmly believe that EVGA's customer service was by far the best. Now with them leaving the GPU industry, that leaves ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte and Zotac as the main contenders for choosing a Graphics card. With that being said, I do have one question. How good is ASUS' customer service compared to all other brands? Although I am confident that my new GPU will last for several years I am wondering how their customer service fares when it comes to dealing with RMAs or replacement requests for GPUs. Despite the controversy between ASUS and J2C my family still went ahead with ASUS which I do not mind as it is the card that I originally wanted when the 4090s released. For anyone that has gone through the RMA experience, what was it like? How did ASUS treat you compared to EVGA? If anyone has any stories they would like to share please let me know! Thank you!
  6. I'm a long-time lurker of the forum, but I wanted to post a thread here as I am going through a pretty awful experience with Nvidia. In short, I bought a 3090FE a while ago here in the UK. I had 2 years warranty which is still active for a few months but recently the GPU started having glitches, odd "stars" on games and even full blown BSOD from time to time. I submitted an RMA which got accepted. The Replacement that arrived had a few issues with it but for the most part, it just didn't do anything when put into the system... Dead on arrival basically. Another RMA was started for this card and that was accepted but I had to wait for an email, which never arrived. After a couple of weeks of chasing eventually, I was sent the relevant RMA details and off this GPU went back to Hong Kong. The 2nd replacement arrived yesterday. The bracket is bent to a 45-degree angle, the antistatic bag had concrete dust and tiny stones/concrete in it, the GPU was covered in the concrete dust, and the top fan doesn't spin freely. There are also scratches and cosmetic issues, but generally speaking... They sent me another broken "refurbished" 3090. I have been documenting this process on Reddit and now I have someone claiming to be "global escalation manager for NVIDIA" but they have turned to blame me and my PSU for the DOA card, get the facts wrong and even lie about what was sent to me. This person states I was sent a new in box retail card, which is 100% untrue... Clearly labelled refurbished on the GPU, box and anti-static bag and has the dust, scratches and previous owners hairs to back that all up! This has been going on for around 7 to 8 weeks now and each time I do another RMA I have to wait 2 to 3 weeks before Nvidia send me an RMA number and packing details. Last time I had to wait a couple of weeks because Nvidia RMA sent me a replacement unit they didn't recognise the serial number of! The Nvidia RMA process is a nightmare and I fear that I will be left in this process until they refuse to help me... I have requested a brand new unit or a refund at this point as this is just ridiculous now. Basically 2 months without a working GPU. What else can I do here?
  7. So a few weeks ago my 3080ti started causing games to screen tear with purple lines and eventually after like a day stopped outputting display, the fans would spin and the RGB would come on but still no display, I tested it with my 6700xt and my pc booted up so I switched it back to the 3080 and wait for it.. no display, so like any normal person I try to see if it's still under warranty and looked up the serial number on ASUS's website and what do you know it's still covered so I request an RMA and a few mins later I get an email confirming the request and am sent my shipping options, opting for the easiest route I chose to go with the shipping service ASUS offers through UPS and it was about $25 for 3 day ground shipping, Fast forward 3 days later and it arrives at the repair location 3 more days and I get an email today saying my unit was damaged during shipping and quoted me at full MSRF (about 1700 dollars) this is the picture they sent me
  8. Gigabyte RMA process is atrocious, I sent a 360mm AIO in to be RMA'd and repaired. 4 weeks later , i am still waiting, the customer service email tends to never respond. and the US number makes follow up promises they do not keep. Took 3 weeks for me to drag out of them that they do not have a direct replacement for me. their warranty states they will replace with best match or better, if not refund the money for part. But i have still not heard from em. CMON 4 Weeks..
  9. Tech Specs First Cpu- 5800x Motherboard- asus tuff x570 motherboard Bios Version- 4403 Ram- 32gb of ram across 4 sticks of vulcan z ddr4 3600 (all the same sticks and timing) GPU- evga rtx 3070 xc3 ultra (8gb) gddr6 lhr SSD- Crucial MX500 2TB (os drive) 2nd SSD- SAMSUNG 980 PRO 500GB (game drive) Power Supply- Corsair RMX Series, RM750x Operating System: Pop Os 64bit (Tried Windows 11 in past, did not fix issue) My issue is that I currently need to have to keep my ram in a specific order to get my system to boot. I have had other problems in the past with usb disconnects and at an earlier time with programs not opening and being in a weird state. I sent my motherboard back to asus with two rmas for the usb issue which eventually lead to a bootloop and for the programs not launching and misbehaving time. I tried windows 11 on another drive when the programs were misbehaving and because I was in a bootloop at that point it still did not work. I had another issue recently where I bootlooped until I installed my ram in a specific order and now it "works" but still has random crashes and freezes. I could use my computer right now, but if another issue pops up because of what I assume has to be the memory or the motherboard. it will be much harder to replace the parts with brand new (I know are working) ones than if I wait until another issue happens. I want to make the post short so you get the gist of it and can easily help me, but if you want to read specific details of what I tried and when everything happened I'll comment it on this post. It's more than of a year of pain and I have tried to find a solution. P.S. When I sent it to Asus all they did was update the bios. It's still the same board.
  10. So about two and a half years ago I decided to build a new system. Initially I went with an ASUS X570 Motherboard, But it arrived with dead DRAM slots so I returned it. I ended up buying a GIGABYTE AORUS X570 ELITE WIFI since it was the only motherboard that met my requirements that was in my price range that wasn't ASUS. For my system I ended up using a 850 watt PSU and got a new monitor, both GIGABYTE products. The monitor developed a dead pixel after just two months. And better yet the PSU ended up being one of the models with no over current protection that was a fire hazard, so I turned that in with the recall and got my money back. now a few years later my computer stared only reading half as much RAM as I had installed. After doing some testing it turned out that my B1 and B2 DRAM slots were no longer reading so I decided to RMA my motherboard. Upon taking it apart, aside from being a little dusty, it was fine however some of my thermal compound had gotten on the PCB next to the CPU socket. So I decided to clean it off with some isopropyl alcohol. After it dried there were some splotches on my Motherboard around where the thermal compound was as it had dissolved into the alcohol and splattered around a bit in the cleaning process. I thought it was no big deal since I know thermal compound is non-conductive. So I shipped my motherboard off to GIGABYTE. THEY RESPNDED TO ME BY SAYING THAT MY MOTHERBOARD HAD LIQUID DAMAGE AND WAS CORRODED. And they provided these BS photos as "proof". You guys tell me if any of these photos show corrosion. Even though I explained to them on the phone that it is from alcohol and thermal compound they are still refusing to honor the warranty and admitted that they did not even try to power it on. Never buy from GIGABYTE, they would sell you tainted meat if they could. *edit* Thanks for the responses, I didn't even think I would get any. Please spread the word that GIGABYTE is up to their devious ways yet again, no one should buy their products for the sake of their wallets and their safety. I would love some advice on what brands people have had good experiences with as I am planning on getting a new GPU soon. Also If anyone knows a good person or a company that does motherboard repair and won't BS me LMK. Also seriously does anyone see corrosion in these pictures? what a load of Horses--t!
  11. I had a 1tb SD card die on me right after buying, Amazon made me go through SanDisk first before they could help, they took the SD card back after sending me a shipping label. However its been stuck in limbo of processing. Thing is they have it since January and whenever I email them, they just say they r having delays. Has anyone had any luck getting their stuff back through RMA? Also if I have this in the wrong place, I apologise. This is my first time on the forum
  12. Motherboard was fried, in the process of getting it RMA'd. Just wondering if Gigabyte is good about this stull and approx how long it takes.
  13. I contacted technical support about a faulty pump on my AIO and overall, it was not a good experience. Very complicated procedure, too long to respond, not a clear response until I pushed a little. Overall, bad. Bu the worst part? Because I live in Europe, their warehouse or whatever here seems to be underutilized and their response is to create more (preventable, I might add) e-waste! They asked for me to pay a new unit in advance and after I receive it, to destroy my old one! I wouldn't be bothered to pay a small fee to ship it (as is the case with Corsair defective products) and they could do with it as they pleased. Refurbish, dump or I don't know what. But having customers destroy products with hammers and scissors, doesn't seem like a great plan to me...
  14. I just got started the RMA process on my 5600G and got an email with the RMA number. In the email was also a link to an article on AMD's website with packaging instructions to ship the CPU. The instructions never mentioned the retail box and even says on the bottom of the page to "avoid sending back the heat sink and fan." I still have all the original stuff that came with my CPU's retail box (except for the original pre-applied thermal paste, duh), so would it not be better to repackage everything as it was to send it back to them? The idea of keeping the retail package and sending CPU on its own with just a plastic clam shell and some bubble wrap to protect it from FedEx is kinda making me nervous. If there's a reason I should keep the retail box and heat sink over sending them everything please let me know AMD packaging article: https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/rma-01
  15. I bought an ASUS Zephyrus G14 2022 last year in around July. However recently, it started to have major issues, such constant reboots when on battery, it being unable to get to Windows because of said reboots (those would happen even if the laptop was plugged in).Oh and another thing, trying to install Windows or really any other OS from an USB stick would lead to the same problem of constant reboots, regardless of if I was on battery or not. So I decided to contact ASUS RMA, in order to have my problem fixed under warranty. However, that did not happen. Instead, I got an email from them with an invoice where I had to pay around $96 in order to fix a problem that wasn't even there in the first place. The one that they mentioned on the invoice was "OS ERROR", but the problem is not with the OS, but rather with the laptop itself. So I emailed them, asking: "Hey, what does OS ERROR mean? Because the problem is not with the OS but rather with the motherboard itself." The answer that I received was nothing short of awe inspiring: "we found a problem what was software related and we can resolve it by a reset of Windows, this handling has called OS error." Now I have contacted them again, hoping to receive a more pertinent answer. I also want to know, what do you think guys? What should I do? Should I even try to keep going further if they keep this up? Or should I just get it back and repair it myself?
  16. My custom water cooling rig just caught fire at the PCIE power connector on my 3090. The PC at the time was either sleep or idle. I was not home at the time it happened. Wife then took the either extinguisher and dump it into the PC to put out the fire out. No, she didn't turn off the power source, which it would save me from the clean up... So at the time the PC was not under any stress load at all. Now I haven't dissemble the rig yet because I don't know if I cant RMA or claim through insurance. Or even it worth the effort doing any of it. My rig spec are as follows: 5950x with barrow CPU block (probably still good) ASUS x570 darkhero (dead) 3090 EVGA FTW3 with Bykski water block (dead) EVGA 1600W titanium PSU (not tested) I am wondering anyone had a PC fire before and did anyone successfully RMA their component(s) or claim insurance.
  17. Sent in my 6900xt that was bad out of the box for rma a few weeks ago. Micro center wouldn’t change it for the same card unless I paid the $300 more dollars they increased the price too. Any thoughts on how long I’m going to need to wait since cards are hard to come by right now? I don’t have any extra cards for temporary use. I think they received it 3 weeks ago now and no update and no response to my emails.
  18. So I have a MSI 6800 gaming x trio. Looking to see if anybody came across a similar issue. I already started RMA but since it is the holiday's in Canada (Manitoba), nothing is open until Tuesday. I want to see if anyone can think of anything I may have missed. Either way, here is what had happened. Bought a card on January 27, when I plugged in the card I was replacing a 5700 xt, the monitors didn't start. I had to restart a few times, eventually booted in safe mode. I figured I might as well format since there were other system issues. So I backed everything up and formatted. Everything worked fine for about 2 weeks. Yesterday, Feb 13, The system would start loading (windows loading circle), but about halfway through the screens would go black. I fixed this by going into safe mode and restarting. This allowed me to get into the login page for my windows account, and continue my day normally. Today, Feb 14, again same thing except this time the safe mode didn't help. I tried to uninstall the drivers. and revert to the November MS approved driver update. That didn't work, during installation it would go black around the 70-80% mark. Again, I could go safe mode but not into regular. At this point I remounted my RAM (I got a BSOD one time with the message "Memory Management", online everyone refers to RAM being faulty, hence the remount. Can it also mean VRAM?) and moved my video card to the second PCI slot. Again didn't help. Now I formatted. And you guessed it, no help. Finally I reinstalled my Nvidia 960 2g, and so far no issues with it. Anybody see something like this? What did you do get everything working?
  19. It hurts bad, but I am hoping that I might be able to turn this into an upgrade with the LTT offering, lol. Either that or keep pushing my little old 960 2g.
  20. I bought an ex display vega 56 from ebuyer back in November, the card was working at first and then I started getting random blue screen errors "thread stuck in device driver". I had a look around the Internet and did all the troubleshooting I could like updating all my driversand using DDU ect. None of this worked so I contacted msi directly. I then went through all the troubleshooting with them and due to the fact I can run an rx 580 perfectly fine it seems there is an issue with my gpu and they told me I had to contact the retailer for RMA. So I sent it off to ebuyer and after 2 weeks I received an email from them saying the card was damaged and wasn't covered under warranty. Obviously the card isn't damaged so I have called them and they say its actually because it is missing the serial number sticker that is supposed to be on the back of the card and due to this there is nothing they can do. I tried to explain to them that the card is ex display and that must be why it is missing but they said without proof that the card I have is the one that matches the one they have on there system there is nothing they can do. Is there a way I can find the serial number of my card from having it plugged in to my computer? I have looked online at pictures of the gpu variant I have and there isn't any stickers on the actual gpu itself with the serial number on it.
  21. Problem As of now the entire system experiences very brief and random freezes that occur regardless of work load. Despite many short freezes, the system has never bluscreened. Consistent frame drops to single digits and even freezes in Rocket league occur every time the game is launched. Task manager shows that the GPU usage very briefly spikes to 100 percent. These spikes do not always correlate to the actual freezes, but for the most part they do. The CPU seems to perform up to par in rocket league, but is much more inconsistent in Warzone. Warzone sometimes performs well. Both the GPU and CPU frame times are up to par. Sometimes the GPU frame times are subpar, sometimes the CPU frame times are subpar and sometimes both CPU and GPU frame times are subpar. Also sometimes suffers from random freezes Troubleshooting history I Ressaembled the entire system when I swapped the X570 aorus elite for the Tomohawk X570 wifi motherboard because I built it in a different case. I was getting inconsistent GPU and CPU performance and I figured the cause of that was my faulty X570 aorus elite motherboard which was apparently a pre-production model and suffered from the 'infamous' reset issue. I have performed a clean windows 10 install and reseated the RAM and GPU. I placed the GPU in a different PCI-express lane, but to no avail. I have tried the following steps since: Enabled and disabled XMP-profile Verified RAM stability and performance through RAM test86 Updated BIOS Updated to latest GPU driver manually Updated AMD chipset Updated AMD ryzen master and cycled through the different modes Forced PCI express gen 3 Switched through all energy profiles Disabled Xbox game bar Disabled nvidia overlay Disabled w10 gaming mode Disabled, reinstalled and enabled Nvidia control panel Underclocked the GPU in MSI afterburner switched the actual display, switched the GPU output connection and switched a display port cable for an hdmi cable. Tried several different mice and keyboards. Also tried disabling USB-devices one by one. Ran games on both SSD and HDD Specifciations Ryzen 7 3700x x570 TomaHawk wifi G.skill 2×8GB @3600mhz Seasonic Focus Plus 550 Gold Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3070 Gaming OC 8G Samsung 860 EVO 500GB WD Green 6TB 3.5-Inch SATA Closing thoughts I don't believe the PSU to be faulty. It's a 2018 seasonic 550W modular gold rated power supply that has served me well. However, the power cable that runs from my PSU to my GPU is an aftermarket cable. It powered my GTX 1080 which always performed well, but I am open to the idea it could be insufficient for the more power hungry RTX 3070. What are your thoughts about this? I realise most signs point to the RTX 3070 being a dud, but some indicators point towards the CPU or possibly the PSU (cable) being the curlprit. Besides, I have had plenty of instances where the GPU performed up to spec. I am very hesitant to RMA my GPU because I fear that the RMA process will be tedious. Gaming is one of the few social outlets during the current lockdown and I'd rather not be deprived of that. If you have any suggestions or know a possible fix, please do share. I greatly appreciate any input, even if it's somewhat unrelated such as an anecdote about your customer service experience in dealing with an Nvidia RMA. Misc note The PCIe power cable is just a single cable that splits into two sperarate PCIe connectors. The reason I haven't given a lot of weight to the option that the PCIe cable (or PSU for that matter) is at fault is because the freezes and low frame rates persist even at lower power utilization. I can't imagine the GPU drawing more than 225 watts in just a web browser game (150 for a single cable, 75 from the PCIe lane itself iirc), but my understanding of a PSU may be oversimplified.
  22. So In every game I play shadows aren't blending and are appearing somewhat jagged like in Here is an example of shadows Normally, they should be smooth; I was told this could possibly just be an issue with that specific game [FFXIV], but it happens in every game I play. Here is a 1 minute clip of me running around pointing out the shadows in Resident Evil 3 when I scope. The shadows are either jagged or they're not blending that well. Excuse to the second to last point in the video, went to the wrong door lol. I have reseated the GPU. Some of the shadows seem very jagged while others aren't blending at all, I have reinstalled the drivers on several occasions using DDU. Temperatures are fine according to MSI afterburner. GPU temp never gets more than 65 degrees, CPU barely breaks 40. 23. TL;DR at bottom. My anger made me treat this forum post as a writing exercise. The last few days have been wonderful. Playing on a Minecraft server with some friends, got accepted to a college, restoring via electrolysis some cast iron pans, doing some BING CHILLING... but then, disaster struck. At random times, but usually when at least 3 people were on the Minecraft server I was hosting with my personal PC, it wouldn't crash the server; It would crash my entire connection to the internet. I would have to restart my entire PC to get my internet connection back. I was desperately confused. At first I thought it could be my weird network setup. I have a moderately aging router that takes in the modem signal, and then a separate, very new, WIFI 6 Router/Access Point in my room so I could do Quest 2 wireless VR (My Index broke, that's an embarrassing and entirely my fault problem). This obviously seemed like a culprit considering I accidently had the Wifi 6 r/ac set up as a router for the first few months and just recently switched it to Access Point mode, but as I was walking back inside after checking on my cast iron restoration, I thought to myself "Hey dumbfuck, google it." So I did, and I found this. A post of someone describing a very similar problem when hosting a Minecraft Server and a very helpful comment describing that it might be the Intel 1225-V Network driver chip of the OP as there were some faulty revisions of it. I kept digging and found out this reddit thread from about the same time I ordered the motherboard describing the sitch. Apparently this ethernet controller is know to be a trouble maker, not only for the first revision, but also the second; It wasn't till the third revision were all the problems were fixed. People in the comments on that and other threads were describing it as "A complete hardware problem, no software fix.". So obviously, after reading someone describe the exact problem I'm having, this problem being attributed to a 2.5gbps ethernet controller, me remembering that my mobo was advertised as 2.5gbps, me also remembering that 5900x PC has always scored lower on internet speedtests than the 7600k PC it replaced, made me already accept I had this network controller before I even checked. I checked; I have revision 2. First thought was to contact Newegg. I couldn' tfind an easy way to ask for an RMA. I then went to Asus Support and had a terrible experience there. I tried to be assertive but not rude. I didn't want to sit around doing random bull when I was already certain it was a hardware issue. You can be the judge of if I failed at my mission. One friend I shared the screenshots with said I was an asshole and one said I did fine. Either way, the convo left me uncertain if they'd even be able to replace it, fix it, or if they even recognize this Ethernet Controller as a problem. I went back to Newegg. I started a text chat with support and told em the problem. They basically told me its too long out the Newegg warranty so I have to talk to the manufacturer for an RMA. Here's the logs. So now I'm at a crossroads. I have found Asus' direct RMA page and submitted a request there. The request to send it in went through but it's still not really confirmed if they will actually be able to get me the revision 3 version. Even after I pay $30 to ship the mobo, it seems to be that I'd have to pray to the Asus gods that they will give me the crumb that is 'determining there is a problem.' And if they don't recognize having revision 2 as a problem, then I'm out of $30. I found some people saying that if you uninstall this driver and install that driver but don't install this driver, everything will work; But usually these are fixes for people who have symptoms A LOT worse than me. (Like shutting off from tasks I've been doing for that last year perfectly fine). I mean, it took a year for me to find a program, Minecraft of all of them, that'll actually cause a failure. Lastly, I've had the idea of just ordering a PCI-E network adaptor and using that. It'd would be the same price as the shipping for the potential mobo replacement. Gonna stay away from I225-V even if it's revision 3 just in-case. Obviously, I feel like this shit shouldn't be on me to fix. If this really is a widespread issue, Asus should've came groveling to my feet offering a replacement when the problem was noticed about a year ago. So now I ask of you, people of LTT fourms, give me some advice. TL;DR Started a MC Server on PC Randomly my ethernet port stopped working, restarting PC was the only fix I am confident its the Ethernet Controller on my mobo, Intel I225-V, as there are many reports of Revision 1 & 2 of it having similar problems. I confirmed I have revision 2 Asus support wasn't able to confirm if I could get a replacement with revision 3, but I could pay the $30 shipping for the chance their repair facility recognizes revision 2 as faulty hardware. Most people seem to say this is unfixable with software, some people say otherwise. They'll say "Uninstall this driver, install that driver. Whatever you do, don't get this driver". Not really sure what to try and not confident it'll work. At a crossroads on whether or not to pay $30 for a potential mobo replacement or $30 for a new PCI-E ethernet adaptor. Very pissed I have to spend any money for something that's the manufacturer's fault. I want advice from you guys.
  24. Hey all, I recently purchased an ASUS TUF B550M Plus Wifi. I used it for about 6 months after which it failed me. I sent the motherboard to ASUS and it has come back today. I see that on the Repair Report they acknowledge a memory function error: however, the Action Taken is blank, as is the Replacement Parts. I believed this had been an oversight from them. I reassembled my PC, and to my dismay, I get the same errors. The RMA motherboard had been wrapped in plastic, and I received replacement parts for the IO shield and wifi dongle. MOBO is alternating between DRAM, VGA and BOOT lights. Am I missing something? I could use some help. Image of Service Report attached. 25. Hi, For xmas this year, I was lucky enough to receive an ASUS VG27AQ monitor. The monitor was ordered by my wife quite early before xmas at the beginning of November for fear of stock shortages. Whilst I received the monitor on 25th Dec, I wasn't actually able to use the monitor until a couple of days ago 4th Jan. When I started using the monitor I noticed that there was a black dot/smudge that wouldn't go away. Alas, these turned out to be a cluster of dead pixels! My first response was to go direct to ASUS under their warranty. I completed an RMA request and sent an image of the dead pixels to ASUS. ASUS rejected the RMA on the basis that their tolerance level is 3-5 dead pixels. I'm struggling to count the dead pixels as I don't really know what counts. I've attached an image of the dead pixels below, how many do you think there are? I've also started a return process with the Seller Aria PC. I live in the UK and should be covered by the Consumer Rights Act 2015. However, I know that starting a legal battle will be slow and that the seller probably won't honour it. Can anyone provide any advice? I'm really upset as this wasn't a cheap monitor and if I had seen the dead pixels earlier I would have instantly returned. TL;DR How many dead pixels can you see below? What can I do to get a refund? Any help would be really appreciated! Thanks
