I have a question about the RM850x (2021 edition) and it’s if I can buy a separate 12vhpwr cable from corsair.

My Corsair RM850x PSU starts making crackle sounds while i play games like Forza Horizon 5 or Cyberpunk 2077 on Ultra settings. I have included a sound file of the noise. Please ignore the fan sound aswell as the thudding sound, i was recording the sound with my phone. Yes the sound is coming directly from the PSU, i also made sure there is nothing blocking the PSU fan. While idling or playing something like Hades or Apex it doesnt crackle, only while "high end" games are played. I had this noise problem for a while now and it seems like it doesnt affect my perfomance. Should i be worried? Once more unto the breach! I'm finally at the point where I've installed the video card in my new PC. I think I've got it right, but... The Corsair RM850x PSU comes with 2x PCIe cables. One end has an 8-pin plug, the other has a 6+2 pin plug (aka. middle) with a jumper to another 6+2 pin plug (aka. end). Meanwhile, my MSI RTX3060-TI GPU has one 8-pin and one 6-pin connector on it. Can use just one of the cables here, connecting one of the 6+2 plugs into the 8-pin, and only the 6-pin segment of the other plug into the 6-pin connector, or must I use both cables in a one-and-one arrangement? Also: If I can stick with one cable, does it matter whether the 8-pin connection is on the middle or the end? Pictures of card connectors and PCIe cable are attached for visualization... Thank you.

Hello. I'm posting this here for lack of a more appropriate category... I'm building myself a new machine and came across a stumbler: There's a 4-pin connector on the motherboard for which I have no cable. I've seen notes about it being needed, not needed, and also about the pros/cons of building your own cable, etc. But nothing addresses the specific hardware combination here; it's all what I compare to be "lower end" or not applicable. The questions are: 1) Do I need to run a line to the motherboard CPU_PWR2 (4-pin) connector? 2) If yes, what's the best way to go about it? The specific hardware: * MSI X570s Tomahawk Max WiFi * AMD Ryzen 5 5960x * Corsair RM850x (2021 ed.) The PSU, which is modular, comes with 3x 8-pin CPU cables and the usual motherboard power cable only (plus PCIe, SATA, and molex), and does not have a 4-pin socket. Not likely to matter, but just in case, a 3960Ti GPU, 64 Gb RAM across four SIMMs, two HDDs, two ODDs, and an M.2 SSD, all round out the hardware configuration. Thank you in advance for your input.

Hi! I'm looking into building a new PC and I'm wondering what 850W PSU should I choose. After a lot of research and going through prices and availability I've narrowed it down to the Corsair RM850X or the Seasonic Focus GX 850W. The PSU will power an overclocked Ryzen 9 5900X and an overclocked RTX3080. I have a couple of queries to clarify before placing the order. From my research it looks like some Corsair RMx PSUs are manufactured by CWT, which is a bit inferior when compared to Seasonic. Is this correct? Checking out the PSU tier list (https://linustechtips.com/topic/1116640-psucultists-psu-tier-list/) it looks like the Focus series had some issues with tripping due to power spikes from the RTX 3000 series. Does this concern the whole Focus series, or just the PX models? This might sound dumb, but is there a difference between RMx 2018 Black vs RMx 2018 White? From the tier list it looks like the 2018 white model is an A+ Tier PSU. I can get both and the 2021 model (if that's better). Thank you!

I've read about the 850x being the better version compared to the 850 so that's not really my question. My options are: RM850x (CP-9020180 - 2018 Edition) RM850 (CP-9020235) The 850x is ~$14 more which I don't mind paying but I think the 850 is the newer model. I can't tell what the differences are aside from some different cables that are included. So the question is do i go for the 850x despite being the older model or have there been changes, to the 850, that would make it the better option? Or should I just go 850 cos it's cheaper? I hope I'm making sense.

Hello, I am currently in the process of choosing parts for a new pc build. I would like to use Asus GeForce RTX 3070 Ti 8 GB ROG STRIX GAMING OC for my GPU. It requires 3 x 8-pin PCIe power connectors. I'm also planning to vertically mount my GPU, i'm not sure if that affects anything here but just in case now you know. Now, the power supply I was originally planning to get is the Corsair RMx (2021) 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX. On the manual from the corsair website it shows that the 850w comes with 3 x 8-pin (6+2) but each of them split (is daisy-chainned the correct term?) making 6 connectors in total. Using this image that I found, it shows a setup for my scenario in which 2/3 8 pin connectors are being used. But then after doing research, people reccommend to seperate all three 8 pin cables - something to do with the wattage that each single 8 pin cable can allow needing to be enough, and splitting them just splits the wattage that the GPU can use (???). Therefore, the image is kind of contradicting the other advice if i am interpreting it right. This then lead me to look at power supplies that provide you with 3 x 8 pin PCIe (/ 6+2) in the box, but I couldn't seem to find any by the way I was looking for them. After that I started looking at replacement cables / extension cables / extra cables. People were saying don't buy cheap cables go for cablemod - but cablemod sells from one Australian store and they were sold out in most of the cables that I am trying to look for. l got even more frustrated because I then thought about if the PSU even had enough ports to fit an extra 8 pin, because if it did why wouldn't they just supply 3 x 8 pin in the first place?? Anyway, what I am looking for is a way to use the 3 x 8 pin 3070 ti that I want to get with a (preferably 850w) power supply - either that comes with the cables I need OR a solution for the cables - whether its being told that it's okay for me to stick with what they give me in the box OR cables that will work for my 3 x 8 pin situation. Thanks, Tom.

So recently I've been having an issue with my ryzen 9 3900x and rtx 3080 ti build. If I'm doing some gaming and a bunch of other tasks like youtube, discord, and streaming all at once it will run fine and great for an hour or so, maybe more. After that though the weirdness starts to kick in. First computer will freeze and become unresponsive to inputs, then rgb will flicker and some fans will power on and off. Sometimes the system will recover within a minute or so, other times it will just be stuck frozen, and I have to force shutdown. My first thought is my corsair rm850x from 2018 isn't enough for the build. I did alot of research on psu compatibility for an r9 and a 3080ti before hand. But perhaps it isn't enough? What do ya'll think? Full specs: Ryzen 9 3900x, 32gb trident z neo 3600mhz cl16, Gigabyte 3080ti OC vision, Corsair rm850x PSU, Msi x570 tomahawk mobo If it is the power supply, what would you guys recommend for my setup? Not sure I'd want to go with 850watts again with my current issues.

Hi so I need some help with my rx6700x and rm850x(2018). So the gpu needs 8+6 pin to be powered but I only have one cable which has 6+2x2 connectors. I've read that one cable isn't enough to supply the gpu alone. So Should i buy one more? and which one should I buy if i need to buy it.

Motherboard: Gigabyte x99 ultra gaming rev 1.0 "2011-3" ( fa6 bios ) Cpu: HASWELL-E Intel i7- 5820k Ram: G.SKILL TridentZ Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) Memory Model F4-3200C16D-16GTZB SSD: samsung 500gb evo PCU: Cossair RM850x watt Cooler: dual fan Cossair water pump Graphics card: Msi GTX 1070 So 3 months ago i had water damage in my basement, it was near my computer. My computer was on the ground with the carpet soaked. However my computer worked fine 3 months after it happened. Now last week my computer turned on, beeped and than didnt post. Today it completely refuses to stay turned on for more than 8 secs, and it turns off and repeats. I have tried brand new memory sticks and it didn't change anything. Tried clearing he CMOSI don't visibly see any dry water marks inside ( looking through the air holes). I tried unplugging everything and everything works, it just wont work for more than 5 seconds. This computer is only 6 months old, and i built it myself, it worked just fine for all that time till 1 week ago. I looked up the beep codes for my Motherboard and it told me that it was memory failure, and then when the computer started to beep continuously, it surely was memory failure. I think i've also noticed the "Cosair" logo on the water pump is not its brightest. Whenever the computer shuts off on its own, the Logo blinks brighter and than darker. Could it be a bad PSU?

Fractal design define nano s corsair rm850x asus z-270i i5-7600k h115i w/2 noctua redux ( yes I want to get ml140 pro white led. I got these for push pull back when I was in a enthoo evolv atx tg case and long story short the other two didn't fit in this build.) evga gtx 1080 ti sc2 (had I known that getting a hybrid for 50$ more was worth it I would have. Hindsight is 20/20 you learn something everyday.) 2x4gb ballistix ddr4 3000mhz( yes 16gb would be nice but this is purely for gaming and I got this ram dirt cheap when I got the mobo and CPU) now heres the fun part, I need as much speculation and imagination when it comes to making this a finished build. The question is this. will my gpu thermals get better and will this sf600 help as much as I think it will or would it be better to sell this card and get a hybrid. the other option is to leave it the way it is and run it stock because it works and it works well. I would like to get a custom loop started with an ek240 slim kit but would need to sell or trade this card for a liquid one. I am up for any and all ideas on how to finish this build. P.s. If I get the sf600 I was planning on getting white corsair cables for it to match the card and later on maybe 16gb of corsair or g.skill ram. p.s.s. Also would I need to install another ml120pro exhaust at the top rear if I installed a ml120pro intake at the bottom front underneath the gpu? thank you to whomever reads this and tries to help.

SOLVED EDIT: X570 GIGABYTE Aorus motherboard pro has leds on the back that spark for a few seconds when you switch the power supply button on. Gigabyte confirmed it was normal. EDIT(9/9/19): So I opened the back and turned off and on the power supply now that I was a little less worried about frying mb in case it was the psu, the white light that I thought was a spark was some leds in the back of the motherboard(Gigx570 pro), still don't know if this is normal or a bad thing? EDIT: awesome, I'm getting a replacement soon. Chat option is so much easier than calling! So, I built my first pc and made sure to take my time not to mess up anything (although I tried unplugging the chassis USB from motherboard and pins came out so I just pushed everything back in but that's another story, it still works btw) anyway, when I plugged everything in and went to press the button on the psu, a white spark happened. I thought it was a one time thing cuz' the pc worked fine even after that and didn't spark when I used the power button on the case. However, when I moved the pc to another room, I turned off the psu from the back and when I reconnected everything again the white spark was back when I turned the psu from the back. I tried removing the power supply from the case and re-installing it, but it happened again. tbh I don't know whether the sparks are coming from the left side of the motherboard or from the power supply, idk if I should try again and look at it from the back? I found a post about the same thing with the same psu but idk if it's the same case with mine.

Hi i have a Asus Rog Croashair Hero VI and i learned that my PSU Thermaltake Thoughpower grand RGB 750w 80+gold are not completly compatible. See note from PcPartPicker: Note:The Asus CROSSHAIR VI HERO ATX AM4 Motherboard has an additional 4-pin ATX power connector but the Thermaltake Toughpower Grand RGB 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply does not. This connector is used to supply additional 12V current to the motherboard. While the system will likely still run without it, higher current demands such as extreme overclocking or large video card current draws may require it. I want to change my PSU, i know i dont abselutly need to but i want ro boosr my pc soon and i dont want to have any problem. Can i use Corsair Rm750x or Rm850x? Hii there, I got my gaming PC rig and it’s comfotable to add Corsair RM850x gold certificated fully modular psu (Cost : 10900RS). And Corsair RM1000x gold certificated fully modular psu (Cost : 9500RS). Why Corsair RM1000x having less cost than RM850x? Which one should I go with?

Hi all, I'm in the market for a new powersupply. Long story: The reasons I am going to buy a new one are that I'm upgrading to a new generation RTX card when they come available (not sure about 3080 or 3070 yet, and I'll probably wait for the models with more vram) and my current PSU has a known problem. I know that the chances that my current PSU (Seasonic Focus Gold Plus 650W) will actually cause problems are rather slim, but I've had some bad experiences with my previous GPU so I'm not willing to take any chances. Short: I'm trying to decide between the RM850x at €130 and the TX750M V2 at €99 or RM750 non-x at €100. I'm leaning towards the RM850x, but I was wondering whether there are any downsides to having a PSU with much more W than I would need (especially if I end up going with the 3070). The RM750x is €3-€4 cheaper than the RM850x so that's a pretty lousy value. Any thoughts are welcome

Hi, im thinking of upgrading my power supply in my PC since my little 600w is coming to the end of its life. The PSU i was going to go for was the corsair RM850x Just wondering if any of you guys have the RM850x and can vouch for it, or whether the CS or HX series are worth buying instead. My budget for the PSU is about £100 so obviously the HX series are out of reach. Thankyou for your help in advance.

I am in need of a dust filter for my corsair rm850x (lost it) and was wondering if you guys could recommend me one that would fit and be good for a power supply? And one that won't choke my fans. I am basically just super worried I will buy one and it will increase my psu temp too high, heres one I was looking at via https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00ARB5E8A/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB&psc=1 Which type of filter is best to use do you think... nylon or plastic? silvertek tells me nylon... but I don't know. I have looked online for a couple weeks at Amazon's products and reviews and people just seems to disagree with each other on every single filter I find... they often mention "CHOKES FANS" or "HOLES TOO BIG" i can't seem to find an in between and I don't know if demciflex is affordable for me. I thought of using panty hose and dryer sheets but I want a permenant solution. Asked corsair for a replacement and they told me it's a legacy case and they do not carry any more parts for this case either. so I thought I'd come and ask here. My case is the Masterbox 5 - black with meshflow front pannel, and here https://imgur.com/a/iwS6aiK is a photo of where the filter needs to fit. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated, as I am not playing any games until I replace a dust filter. thankyou!
