I have had a Palit Gtx 1080 Gamerock (not premium) for about 4 years, it was unlikely to have reached a temp above 70degC. Went to start my pc today and none of my monitors came on. Graphics card didn't light up or spin. I've ruled out my power supply and have tried the card in another pci slot and still nothing. The slots are also confirmed good as I tried an old card in both. Given the current buyers market for graphics cards I'd be grateful of any suggestions to try and get this thing back online.

So. I went to unlock my phone last night and lo and behold, it wouldn't register the touch. I looked at the scanner, expecting it to be dirty, and I noticed that there was what looked like a paint chip on my finger. Scanner hasn't worked since and after talking to a Google-Approved repair company, it seems like this becoming somewhat common for Pixel 5's. Pic attached. Let me know what you think.

Hi guys, This is my first ever post here. I have been an avid LTT viewer for years, but never came over to the forum until today. Thought I could share what happened to me. Today at around 9:13am Scotland time, I got a call to say my housewas on fire. I rushed home as quickly as possible, and thankfully the fire brigade had already made it there before me. Me, my family and both my wonderful dogs managed to get out safely, which is the most important thing. Unfortunately, my gaming PC was swallowed up in the fire, along with our computer equipment I had. This is a sad goodbye to my Minecraft & World of Warcraft playing. It wrenches my gut to say it.. I hope everyone else is well, and have had better days than me. My thoughts today are with those in Ukraine facing far worse than this right now. Have a good night Yours, Ben ps. I have included pictures of the devastation, along with a slightly outdated photo of what was my setup. I had since upgraded the graphics card. Doesn’t matter much now though

UPDATE - I have bought the Corsair RM 750 power supply and installed it after a bit of fiddling around with the cables - and it works now! Everything works flawlessly once again! --------------------------------------------------- So... Just a few minutes ago, i was casually playing Team fortress 2, when my PC turned off without any warning. In my fuse box, the breaker for the outlets of my living room were down, off. After a call with my somewhat tech savvy brother, he and I tested around on the socket and... Everything worked, except for my Computer. Now, the power supply I used in my PC was an old 600 watt LC Power PSU. I have.. no idea how old it was. But all i know now is that my PC won't turn on, and I'm very stressed out about it now. How will I do home office now? How will I game? More important, what the hell do I do now? Like.. how do I know that my components aren't fried? As soon as I have money I'll get a new power supply that actually is reliable.. but what do you guys think? Anything I should do? Thank you.

Hello, I need urgent help in how to rip a damaged audio CD. I found a bunch of my mom's old CDs from the early 2000s that she believed she had lost, most of them are in ok to bad shape. Her bday is coming up soon so I wanted to get an MP3 player with all the music on the CDs loaded up on it as a bday gift. They are abour 30 CDs, I have come across two of them that play just fine with some songs having a couple of hiccups, I went ahead and ripped them but they stay stuck as I can hear the DVD reader on my PC go crazy trying to read the disk while ripping. Is there a way I can rip these CDs? I have tried cleaning them well with soap and water and a soft cloth but to no avail. I heard there was a brillo option but I do not wish to damage them any more than they already are to the point where they are unplayable. Any help will do please.

TLDR, Check your cables and any pins behind them before powering on system after any work. Hello all, we all love RGB right? (besides those who have genuine willpower to hold back that urge to buy unicorn vomit) The point of this post is to warn you of my mistake I made and got lucky with. I was upgrading my PSU from a 550w to 850w to handle power spikes from my new GPU and during the cable management phase, unbeknown to me, I had clearly tugged on a wire that was resting on the 12v RGB header as when I had powered on there was a small spark and burning smell so obviously I force powered down and crapped myself thinking I've done a BitWit Kyle and fried my MOBO and all its components only to move my AIO SATA Power Cable out of the way to discover the 12v pin had shorted with the Green pin on the header. (I knew where to look as I was looking into the belly of the beast when I saw the spark) Luckily it was just this as all that happened was my 12v RGB header is most likely dead now and my MOBO RGB is no more. but on the plus side, no other components were harmed in the making of this F-Up as I have worked real hard to get this system to this point. So just if anyone is going to Rainbow Vomit the F out of their PC be careful and check behind any cables to check if any pins have bent as you may short an important pin/header. MOBO: ASUS ROG STRIX z390-F gaming CPU: i5-9600k CPU Cooler: Corsair h100i Platinum AIO GPU: Gigabyte RTX 3070 Gaming OC RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB 3200MHz PSU: Corsair RM 850X 80+ Gold Fully Modular Case: NZXT H510

Summary Apple is now discontinuing the Space Grey Versions of the Magic Mouse, Magic Keyboard and Magic Trackpad due to axing of the iMac Pro, earlier this year. On Apple's website is says under all items that these products will be around while stocks last. My thoughts Well, Apple doesn't want you to get a set of accessories that doesn't match a product. Time will tell when the new iMac will get stand alone accessories, but took the iMac Pro several months to have the accessories separate. Google has woken up them their daydream. Daydream VR software is no longer supported, officially announced via Google's support page for Daydream VR, ciitng that there will be no more software nor security updates for any Daydream device. This comes after Google announced Android 11 as its latest Android operating system update, with Google abruptly ending its own virtual reality project. This also comes after Google had initially lost support from Hulu as well as removing the Play Movies & TV app for its Daydream headset, it was clear from these two feature shavings that the Daydream was evitably a dead-end project. Google does cite that third-party apps and experiences within Daydream have a possibility of being available as standalone apps in the Play Store, but cannot guarantee these apps to work properly on some devices running Android 11, or in the future, even later evolutionary Android versions. Additionally, Google has noted that the Daydream View headset and controller will still be available for use with VR content, however, the Daydream View headset is officially no longer on sale. VR can be fun, and I occasionally take out my Desktek VR headset for use with my Samsung S20 in 1440p mode, VR is definitely not for everyone, and especially with how limited Daydream was and/or became in its later state, it's understable Google decided to axe another one of its products. VR is a very niche market and Google has clearly had enough of integrating into a market that has very little room for growth. Source: Google

So I’ve just installed a new AIO cooler on my girlfriend’s CPU, at first I tested it in the kitchen where I was working on it as there is not much space on her desk. It worked fine. I put the panels back on and took it back to her desk, at first it wouldn’t post at all. All the LEDs would flash and the fans would rev for around 1 second and the power would cut again. I finally decided to try clearing the CMOS after re-seating everything and it turned back on. Once I got on I tried launching a game so I could monitor the temps and all was going well, until I closed the game and it locked up on me. I could still move program windows around but I couldn’t do anything in the programs, nor could I open any programs, including task manager. So I hard powered off the PC manually, and I had the same issue, with it flashing on and off until I cleared the CMOS. And it won’t boot until I have done so (only after a crash). Things I have tried so far: - DDU and clean GPU driver install - SFC scan and repair - flashing latest bios version - reseating everything (again) - checked CPU pins for any debris/damage - checked cpu socket and cleaned with IPA - currently running memtest as I write this (will post results in replies) And some other things but I’ve been doing this for so long I’m losing track. I hope someone can shine some light on this, as it’s driving me insane. Will post specs in replies too.

This is my First post on LTT forum (been lurking for years), and if in the wrong place I apologise. I've been watching LTT for years and Wan Show, Linus telling us about his loss of a furry Family member really hit home (I have pooch and losing him would really be devastating). After all the hard work Linus & LMG Family put into showing us amazing tech and also entertain us. I hope you will all join me in Paying respect to one of Linus family members who are no longer with us. Hopefully this will help Linus and the LMG Family through a difficult time, losing such cutie furry one. RIP little Furry one. FjR. (If in the wrong place mod's please feel free to move)

Hey guys, After coming home and parking in the street near my house after work, it was raining really hard. I was using my Galaxy S7 phone as a flashlight (because I needed to find my keys, doorknob, etc.) but I heard about how waterproof the S7 was so I didn't think much of it getting wet. Anyways, when I got in the house I wiped off all of the water on the outside of the phone, and put it straight on the fast charger. When I put it on there it said that there was moisture on the inside of the charging port and that I needed to dry it out. I followed the troubleshooting tips on the Samsung website by gently shaking the phone so as to get the excess water out of the charging port, as well as gently blowing into it. I waited a half hour before putting it back on, and it started charging, only exception is that it would only regularly charge, and would not fast charge. Strange. When I woke up this morning I tried charging it again, but again, it would only regularly charge and not fast charge. I made sure the port was absolutely clear of water, as well as made sure that fast charging was enabled in settings. Check, and check. Now it still won't fast charge, and I couldn't find anything online on how to fix it. I could really use some help. Thanks all.

Hello all - So I just got a hand-me-down rig from my older brother, and based on the knowledge that I acquired over the summer about bottlenecks in a PC, I was curious about what he currently has as his CPU/GPU setup goes. I had a "meh" gaming laptop before he handed this down to me and build a new rig of his own, and I experienced significantly better performance on the laptop than this old rig of his. Let me know if there are any bottlenecks in the system, or if I'm just seeing things. AMD A10 7870k (non OC) Reference GTX 960 2GB 850W PSU (for planned expansion that never happened) Thx

4 days ago I spilled a glass of tea down my pc...... The pc was running and it quickly shut off by itself, I unplugged everything and dried it of with a hair dryer and some towels. I also took out the graphics card and RAM.... I come home after letting it dry for 3 days and try to get it working.... Everything powers on except the graphics card, I try with another graphics card and have no luck there either, I then reseat the RAM and all of a sudden It works. All is fine for an hour while play GTA but when I exit them game the monitors turn off and the graphics card does the same, the rest of the system seems to be powered on. I restart the system and everything works The same happens 2 hours later while playing csgo with friends. The rest of the night I have no problems. But this morning when I tried to turn it on, the graphics card yet agian won't power on.... What the Fuck is going on here?

My brother uses my old headphones (astro A40s) for his xbox as i brought sennheiser game zero a while ago now, about 2 years he was complaining about the headset doing odd things, so i told him it gets kinda fucky if the drivers are not updated from at least my use with it, so i plugged it into my PC while i searched for updates i made something to eat, i came back went onto the astro site found the drivers for the mix amp, downloaded them, gave them back to him and he tested them out on his xbox and said they're working as they should now, i get back onto my PC and my audio sounds like it's got water going thought it and my mic doesn't work either. my sound is SUPER werid i can't make out any music or video sounds, nothing i tried deleting the drivers and resetting my PC but nothing changed, i'm by no means savvy with PC or audio so rip me.

The program must be compatible with windows. Preferable able to be used easily on windows 7.

Hi all, seem to be having more issues with my ryzen build. Was working fine for about 3 weeks, no issues whatsoever, then today it bluescreened, before I could take not of what caused the bluescreen it then restarted, attempted to repair windows, followed by another bluescreen stating that the kernel cannot be found or is corrupted. I was having an issue just before this where tabs within chrome would crash all of a sudden, I thought nothing of it, then 10 minutes later this happened. I'm unable to even boot to windows media and attempt a repair, none of the advanced boot options work (disable digital signing, safe mode, etc). At my wits end as I'm unable to boot into windows nor am I able to even re-install/repair windows as it just leads to a blue screen. All system components were brand new (bar gpu, however have tried another with no difference) and have worked for almost a month trouble free Specs: Mobo: Asrock Pro4 B350 Mobo CPU: Ryzen 1600 @stock settings RAM: 2x4GB Crucial Ballistix Sport @stock speed 2400mhz (supposedly this is supported by ryzen) GPU: Gigabyte G1 GTX 1070 PSU: EVGA G1 650w SSD: OCZ 240GB HDD: Unsure - Random 2TB. Is this potentially a ram issue? Thats what I am lead to after the issue with random chrome tabs crashing, however I have no idea.

I am looking for an upgrade from my pebble steel, and now that pebble is dead I have no idea what smartwatch to get. Any good smartwatches with an always on display and high visibility in sunlight? I don't really care if the battery life is less than 2 days, just as long as it's an upgrade from my current pebble. EDIT: comment down below of any watches you can think of that has an always on display, I don't care about anything else just as long as it has an always on display

Hey peeps, there has been a death in the family . My x79 system setup with a 980ti HOF and an ek XE480 leaked and ended up killing my gpu. I took the GPU out of the x79 rig and put it in the x99 rig and still no signs of life :'(. the radiator was top mounted and managed to leak straight on the back of the GPU From what I saw, the fittings themselves were not leaking but the water was coming from the other side of the radiator from the region between the end tank and the fins, so it was not an installation error from me... I have leak tested the Radiator using coloured fluid and it confirmed my suspicion regarding the leak present at the end tank-fins area. What to do now? Should I contact EK regarding this fault becasue taking the Aircooler off the 980ti HOF voided the warranty(there was a warranty screw). I am really paranoid as this was a very expensive GPU to get and had been running happily for the past year or so with a predator 360 + 280 radiator loop. ~GabeN

I was wondering if i was just unlucky.. because i've always oce'd my cpu, and now i'm really skeptical about GPU overclock since i lost 2. The thing is, i never overclocked them too far (GTX560Ti / GTX 670) it was about 100mhz on core, without touching the voltage, and that was about it, nothing else. They all died the same way; artifacts.

Putting this in General Discussion because I'm not sure where else to put it I'm trying to rip Blu-Rays from my Blu-Ray collection to a NAS so I can stream it to my Chromecast, etc. However, I'm having trouble with the rips - some discs can be ripped through handbrake no problem at all, but others refuse to be ripped. I used to have AnyDVD HD until SlySoft closed down (in Feb) and I don't trust them give them my cash a second time I tried makeMKV, but it doesn't work on the specific disc either, and it's a 60 day free trial before I have to pay for it Any ways to rip blu rays using freeware or open source software? Tried searching around but I couldn't find much...

(If this isn't the right place, can a mod move this?) I always get a little bit disheartened when I stumble across a 3 year old post and see a submitter not coming back here for 3 years... it's really sad DAE feel like this sometimes?
