From the album: 2010 Dell Inspiron 560 Project
Desk built by my paternal grandfather for my 13th birthday. The blu-ray player actually goes on the top shelf of the computer stand --- just had it out trying to hook to an old TV so I could watch movies while playing Path of Exile. No luck, they're completely incompatible.-

Hi , i am new to ltt forums so your goals is to give me a good feedback about it. So my birthday is coming soon (13 march ) and i want a gaming PC , i need to be around 1500 $ ( canada ) . I know a lot of people say its better to build your own pc than buy a prebuilt, but i am scared to fail and break something... so if you guys can tell me what is the best website to get a gaming pc prebuilt. If you are against prebuild, then i would really like if you could suggest me something that i can build myself around 1500 $ ( add a keyboard but not a mouse or a monitor , i arleady have them ). I am aiming to play games like overwatch and some other triple a games , but i want them to run at medium or high ( anything but not low graphic ). i could go maximum to 1600-1650 $ not more. Thanks

I was planning to build a new desktop as an upgrade from my old dinosaur of a computer, but don't have a bunch of money to push around. I am asking if there is potential in this new rig, and are there any incompatibility issues I should worry about? link: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ynVnjc If you have another rig instead, I plan to only spend about $700 (USD) for this. I already have the monitor and mouse.

I'm planning to build my first Desktop PC. I'm gonna use this PC for some games and software development. My main game is Pro Evolution Soccer 2017. I also play Kingdom of Amalur, Prototype 2, and Shadow of Mordor. On the software development side, I develop Android application and sometimes backend stuff like Django or Node.js. My budget is about US$800. I already make a plan for all the components. CPU: Intel Core i3-7100 .............................................................................US$ 109 MB: MSI B250I Pro ....................................................................................US$ 135 RAM: Corsair DDR4 Vengeance LPX PC21000 2x8GB.............................US$ 131 Graphic Card: MSI GeForce GTX 1050 Ti AERO ITX 4G OC (Mini ITX)....US$ 168 SSD: Samsung SSD 850 EVO M.2 250GB ............................................... US$ 101 HDD: WDC BLUE 2TB ...............................................................................US$ 75 PSU: Antec VP Series 500W (I'm not sure about this one...)..................... US$ 33 I already bought a monitor, Samsung 24" curved 1080p. I might have 2 monitors in the future. May be a 4K monitor. Definitely need Windows 10 for PES 2017... (it's not supported in another platform) I already have a Mini ITX casing (I get it from a friend for free). What do you think of those components? Are they good? Especially on the PSU. Do you think it's OK? Do I need to have a look on the Graphic Card whether they fit the Mini ITX or all Graphic Card will fit? I also consider Pentium G4560... But I'm afraid it'll disappoint... Thanks in advance.

mini-itx Any builders of mini-itx rigs have any regret?
TheMail posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
My partner and I will be going to school next september and will likely be getting a studio ot small 1-bedroom apartment. As a result, we will be very limited on space, so I was considering going the mini-itx route to make as much efficiency as possible. But I want to know of any downside people have experienced doing one of those small-form factor builds: what have been the biggest problems that have arisen from the form factor? -
So, I got a question, which pc rig runs games with higher fps? AMD A-10 7870K with an NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1050 (Not bottlenecked) or AMD A-10 7870K with an NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1650 (Bottlenecked by 26%). So, GTX 1650 is better than 1050, but because it got bottlenecked by the CPU, is it still any better? Or is it worse? Or the same? Thanks.

So i recently got this warning in pcpartpicker.com I assume this means that it limits my SATA slots. As a newbie builder i am asking if this will affect my storage options at all. I assume this warning is being cause by samsung SSD. Will it disrupt my other HDD and/or limit my SSD options in the future. It is on an ASrock Z370 Extreme4

Hi, First of all, I'd like to say it's nice to be here, this being my first post. I'm in need of some advice. I have recently built a gaming system with the specifications listed below. CPU: AMD FX-8350 @ 4.2 GHz (Hyper TX3 aftermarket cooler) Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-78 USB3 LMT Rev 6.0 2x8GB Avexir 1333 MHz RAM ASUS R9 380 4GB OC model @ 990MHz 1x1TB 7.2k RPM HDD Thermaltake 700W bronze power supply I am not seeing desirable and/or drops in framerate in certain aspects of games, mostly in GTA IV (Which is a given, due to how poorly designed the game is). However, I am in the market of looking to upgrade my motherboard, RAM, graphics card and if needed, my power supply. I am currently looking at a 1060 6GB version, but as for the RAM & motherboard goes, I'd like to at least support my current CPU, however if switching to an intel board with an intel processor for cheap would boast better performance, I'm all for it. As far as benchmarking goes, I haven't really taken any. Although I do see decent 60+ framerates in GTA V, minecraft (with shaders and a very high resolution texture pack) gives me 30-40 FPS. Counter Strike is way up in the hundreds. I feel like I cheaped out on the RAM & motherboard. Any suggestions or advice? I'd love to hear opinions from long-time PC builders. Thanks!

Yo, my peeps, my hombres, and my brothers (or sisters) from another mother. I'm sick of all that usual stuff. I've seen so many Skylake builds, so many budget builds and so many hyper-expensive builds that I'm starting to think ya'll are part of a hive-mind or something. It's just repetition, repetition, repetition, repetition, repetition, repetition, repetition, repetition and more repetition. I want to see your weird builds, either spawned from the devil of boredom, lack of any type of funds or from the curiosity of trekking on unknown territory. Show me your secrets. I myself have (in my humble opinion) have quite a weird build. I'll share it with you if you ask. I'll let you look into my Pandora's box.

Sorry if this in the wrong section, didn't know where to post it. I am doing research right now on what is considered a budget build gaming rig. I am fairly knowledgeable in Nvidia and Intel but didn't know what team Red has to offer if I was looking to make a budget build PC.

Hi all! I have been thinking for a long time about what my dream computer would be, because the computer I have access to was bought in the 2000's, It cannot support my artistic and gaming needs. I do need help picking a few pieces, mainly the motherboard and cooling, CPU cooling, monitors, and power supply. I do want to have a rig that would support three monitors, and I don't think I would ever need anything more than that, as three monitor set-up's are awesome the way they are. This computer is going to be used for literally almost everything there is(including 3-d printing). Examples of programs I need to be able to run. Adobe Creative suite (Photoshop,Flash, Illustrator, etc.) Maya 2016, Unity 5, blender. I create flash animations, video game demos, (so 3d modeling, for both video games and 3-d printing) gaming videos, vocaloid songs, and I create my own technology which is very heavy on the computer,(or I at least plan to in the future.) So without further ado, here is the list of the parts I have picked out: Computer Case(this one's not up for debate ) : http://www.amazon.com/BitFenix-Tower-Without-Supply-BFC-CLS-600-KKLG1-RP/dp/B005D5S2XE Ram sticks: 128gb ddr4 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233812 CPU: Intel i7 skylake http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117559 SSHD: x4 4TB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822178379&cm_re=2tb_sshd-_-22-178-380-_-Product SoundCard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829271004&cm_re=omega_claro-_-29-271-004-_-Product Graphics card: GTX 980 Ti watercooled. So here is where things get interesting. I watched Linus's video on this, and it says that this card runs better than the normal GTX 980 ti card, But I want to have two of these running in my computer, but I don't know if both of these are compatible. let me know what you guys think. So that's pretty much it, I left out prephials like keyboards and disc drives etc because I already own the ones I'm going to install into this computer. Last thing, I don't have a budget for this comupter, so yeah. Thanks all for reading

Hi! I'm building a new rig and was wondering if this is an good option: https://www.inet.se/kundvagn/visa/7641055/2015-01-13 My concerns is mostly for the PSU and CPU. The website is in swedish and I'm trying to get to the 1000 dollar mark on the PC. Thanks in advance!

Hi, So I have been very satisfied with my build so far, but I think it's time to get a dedicated GPU. My A10-5800K handles games well, but in AC3 it can barely handle low, let alone AC4, and most games I get <40 fps on low @ 1680x1050. So to the point, then. My focus has been mainly on the R9 280 (no X). Would this be a good gpu for a low to mid-end system? Or would you recommend something different? Unfortunately, the 280 is at the top of my budget, but if there is some GPU that is just so much better for a bit more, maybe I can push it to $250 tops. Besides, I'm pretty happy with 40 fps, medium settings anyways. Thanks!

I want to ship all the parts of a gaming rig with an Obsidian 800D and a 23" Asus monitor. My question is, what would the estimated size and weight of the package be?

Hey Guys I thought linustechtips is missing such a topic so here it is! or ? The rules are easy: Rate the system that was last posted and leave info about your own system (and maybe some pics) to get rated by the next one. It would be advisable to use 1/10 as worst and 10/10 as best and maybe a short explaination why you rated that way. So i will start off. Here's my system: http://www.overclock.net/lists/display/view/id/4937798 i used that link because i already have a completely filled rig profile over there. this doesn't mean that you all have to link somewhere else. you can also just write down your specs and provide some pics.
