So I saw the pc requirements for the last of us and noticed something odd. for the recommended AMD GPU, they list the Rx 6600 XT and the RX 5800XT. The problem is the Radeon 5800XT doesn't exist. There's a 5800xt CPU from AMD, but their GPU lineup stops at 5700xt for all the sources I've seen. Steam and tech power up both say 5700xt so I guess this is just a marketing messup but still kinda funny. What does the RAM requirement actually mean?
Robzyy posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Hello everyone? Recently I've started playing games again because of all that is happening outside. I looked up some games I could play on my laptop and I was curios if the RAM requirement mean that only the game alone needs x GB of RAM or if the whole computer needs x GB of RAM in order to run the game smoothly... I know this is a somewhat stupid question but I just want to see if my thinking is right -
So on my pc I want to run a vm with linux on it but the base os for my system is windows. What requirements are needed for a fully functioning pc and vm?

So I am trying to build a budget gaming pc that will have some capability to actually play games. Specifically I like to play games like minecraft, csgo and rocket league however I'm not expecting max settings. I just want a build that can get mid settings or lower but get some decent fps so it runs smooth. I have a budget of around 650 dollars is there anyone that could help me out with a decent build as I have no clue what I'm doing or where to even start especially with graphics cards these days and how confusing some cpu's can be due to whether more cores at better or a higher clock speed is better.

Hello! I was just wondering if I will be able to run GTA V on my device. My specs are below 8gb Ram Intel Core i5 2.7 GHz (Quad-Core) Intel Iris Pro Graphics 5200 I just want to experience the game I'd wanted to play since release. I'll still play if it's at like 720p medium graphics.

Hey! I need help choosing a PSU for my build. I've tried using PSU calculators but i'm not really sure what i'm supposed to put the clocks on for the GPU's.I currently have a RM850i PSU for my build, however I got another 1070 to add to my rig for 2 way SLI.My build:Case: Corsair Graphite 780TMotherboard: MSI X99a Gaming 7 CPU: Intel Core i7 5820k @ 4.6Ghz 1.38VRam: Corsair Vengeance LED Red DDR4 3200MHZ 32gb (4x8gb)SSD: Samsung 850 Evo 500GBHDD: Seagate Barracuda 3tb 7200RPM 3.5"GPU: 2x MSI Geforce GTX 1070 Sea hawk EK X (I haven't installed the 2nd one yet)PSU: Corsair RM850iFans: 6x HD120 RGB Fans 120MM and 1x AF140 LED fanWatercooling pump: EK-XTOP Revo D5 PWM -Plexi (ink. Pump)I have a custom loop that is currently cooling my 5820k and my current 1070, I'm going to have to clear out all of the water to put in the new 1070. I haven't really had the time to overclock my current 1070 so when I get both of them installed i'm probably going to apply a very high overclock. So if I have my 5820k @ 4.6 Ghz, 1.38V and 2 GTX 1070's in SLI with a very high overclock, What is the recomended wattage on a PSU? and could you recommend a PSU that is good? Thanks in advance!

The problem is: I am not sure if I can edit 4K/30FPS or 4K/25FPS on my pc. These are my specs: i5-6500 16GB DDR4-2133 MHz R9 380 4GB Don't get me wrong, but I do want Premiere for all its features and I am currently using Hitfilm 4 Express and DaVinci Resolve 14.

laptop Macbook Air or ASUS Zenbook for Heavy Software
Guest posted a topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
Primary software to be running- ArcGIS, AutoDesk. I won't bother about the brand because brands don't vary. They go up and down both according to the components assembling matter. So it's better to ask what I need? and the brands best valued for my need. As you see that AutoDesk is a power hungry software and I obviously can't go more than a $1000 laptop. So asking you for a lightweight, slim laptop according the INR currency because of the DAMNED TAXES!! **I would like to use the laptop for my photo editing too. So the screen's color gamut will matter** Please suggest one within the range of 50,000-60,000 INR. -
Hi! If i buy a motherboard (Skylake, mini itx/Micro atx) and ram to go with it, how do i know if the memory actually works together with the motherboard? Or is the only requirement that the ram is DDR4? Maybe max MHz or something? for example if i buy a $60 motherboard and say, Kingston fury black 3000MHz DDR4, would that work?

Would this make a decent server for a website?
wgalexan posted a topic in Servers, NAS, and Home Lab
Hello, I'm curious if a build like this would be enough to run a mobile application. Approximately how many users could I support with a build like this using an application similar to craigslist? How many users could be supported on an ecommerce site? Lastly, how much should I spend on this if it can get the job done? It is listed for $500 but I think I can talk him down to $400 maybe $360. Thank you for your responses in advance! Any type of feedbackis appreciated =D 12-core, 24-thread dual (2 processors) Intel Xeon X5675. 3.06GHz turbo up to 3.46GHz, 24MB total L3 cache 96 GB DDR3 AMD R9-380 4GB -
Hi, Audio newbie here, I know nothing about this stuff other than some quick google searches but I'm interested to learn. First off, let me clarify what I mean by the "XLR Setup", it includes everything between an XLR Microphone and a PC with digital input, what goes in between them. To start off, here is what I know: XLR Microphones need power delivered to them to work properly, for that an AMP is needed with "Phantom Power" that will supply it with the required power. To connect any actual XLR device, an analog to digital converter is needed, which is typically a mixer which, in itself, would have a AMP built into it... preferably Now, I wasn't able to find much more info about this stuff, or at least keeping it with tech that is affordable for a normal consumer and not some studio It can't be as simple as that, a mic to a mixer and just going to a PC USB, can it? There must be some hidden caveats that I don't know about, or components that would make the audio quality better that I'm not aware of Note, I know what XLR is... kinda... What I don't know is what does it take to connect an XLR device to a normal PC, and to have reasonable audio quality What is every possible thing (or most) that can be used between an XLR Mic and a PC, what are their purposes and how much do they bring to the table compared to their prices? What would be an affordable setup (excluding a microphone) to about $100-$150 tops? I'm planing on upgrading my current basic microphone audio setup Currently I have a normal mic with a 3.5mm jack, and that is about it. I'm using a program called VoiceMeeter Potato to do all the virtual mixer audio magic but it has its problems, so I'm looking to move to a XLR Microphone to hopefully improve on the quality of the current one which has a lot of static and noise and actually picks up quite a bit of electrical noise from the adapters I got on the back of my PC. My idea is to have something isolated, all analog stuff is on its isolated "section" and then just gets converted to digital and then connected to the PC. I don't have much else to write, I hope this is enough to spark a quick discussion about this and get some recommendations in, hopefully also help me learn a bit more about this stuff. Thank you to everyone that reads and/or replies!

So I just go my shinny new Sapphire Nitro + RX 5700 XT, supper hyped right. AND THEN.............. flip the box over and it says power requirement is 600w PSU or greater. I only have a EVGA 550w 80+ gold, outside the return window for Newegg. Am I just shit out of luck and need to buy a new PSU or will this work? On a site I found, I punched in all the specs for the build and it kicked out a requirement of a 550w (this was on Newegg's sight if I remember correctly) Ryzen 5 3600 w/ included wraith cooling fan Tuf X570 wifi motherboard Sapphire Nitro+ RX 5700 XT Delta T-Force (RGB) 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3200 WD 1TB NVMe 2.0 3 - 120mm case fans EVGA 550w 80+ Gold

so i upgraded from a 990fx 8350 system with a 7850 to a 8700k with strix z370e. Now i need to get a new card. I will be buying it used. I do want to sim racing with vr. Mostly assetto corsa with mods, and acc. i will still do 1080p games but anything that can run vr shouldn't break a sweat with a 1080 system. so what is the bare minimum, what is a good recommended card to go with. i was looking at 970 but if a 980ti will be better i wouldn't mind waiting for it. SLI is out of question. Thank you guys in advance.

So while I was prepping for my freshman year of high school I stumbled upon the oddest thing. There is one class in our school that use the ITV and it is called pre-engineering. And it says specifically "check video card compatibility by visiting (link)". Are there any other classes that have this requirement?

Hey guys I just wanted to know something about gaming requirements and processors, some games require that you have a core i5-6600k or a core i7-4790k e.g. battlefield 1. link: https://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/requirements/battlefield-1/13404 The i7-4790k and i5-6600k processors are undoubtedly some really high-end processors that cost a fair bit of money, yet I see gamers playing some really demanding games (on medium to low settings) with a low end i3 8100 or even a pentium G4560 paired up with a decent graphics card like 1050ti or 1060. So my question is this: when a game says it requires a 3.5GHz to 3.9GHz core i5-6600k processor (minimum requirements) how important is that for you to match up your processor? Could you play that game with a core i5-4670? Could you maybe play that game with a core i3-7300? Or maybe even a pentium G4560? Would there be any stuttering or lag? Would there be any issues at all with your gameplay? Thank you and God bless you all.

I need to build a server for a set of databases totaling ~10TB. The data will be used by online tools so querying/data access performance is critical (let's assume I have the right database software infrastructure). There are multiple points which I'm looking at: - Storage 'structure': I've been looking at data storage options: NAS vs. DAS vs SAN. NAS is out of the question for this task and so it seems to be DAS vs. SAN. Since for now there will be one host which will be accessed locally and remotely, I'm leaning more towards DAS and avoid switches and all that. - Storage configuration: I'm almost certain I will be going for RAID 10 for redundancy and performance - Drive type: SSD vs HDD vs SSHD vs SAS. Due to the relatively 'low' lifetime of an SSD (and *cough* we've also seen Linus' disaster *cough*), I'd say its not a reliable option for the main storage. Performance-wise SAS are surely better but with 10TB size, this is not worth it money-wise. Even worse if I use RAID 10. Does SSHD make sense as a compromise? I've also read that SATA drives should be avoided at all costs; not sure what other options are left....I've also seen that Linus is using SATA HDDs for his 100TB server though? ---- EDIT: Some background about the usage The database will be more of a data repository, with occasional scheduled updating (e.g. once/twice a week) and not continuous updating. Once the data subset is pulled out, it will be used for processing and analytics. Regarding OS, quite flexible although Unix is probably favored at this stage. The repository will be required to be consistently available however the load and querying rates are unknown at this stage since this will depend on user usage. Having said that, this is more of a 'preliminary' server to establish a system, gather the statistics of usage over time and if needed, update the hardware accordingly in the future. Any input is appreciated.

Hello Linus folks! I got a task to do and it has to be done in a few days, could anyone help me here? Since IT class got more students, we need to move from smaller class to a bigger one. The bigger new class is almost empty and what we need to do is to write "requirement specifications". Since we have a Visio drawing of the second floor (bigger class), I need to draw on how we could set up a network there. Router, switch, all cables, computers etc. I have already drawn where the tables are going to be and computers, projector and the panel. We are going to have 17-19 students after summer. Now my question is: Can someone with network and Visio experience help me to do some of it, I would be finished faster and I would appreciate that a lot. I will list the Visio file down below. derpylt, classroom.vsdx
