My name is Jeremy (Yiru for most people online). I would like to get advise on the following. I want to run the following on it. SQL (with Redis as cache). Minecraft servers (I am making a little network around max 100 people so far). Virtual machines. webserver using nginx/apache2. maybe some other things in the future. 2 idea's I had so far. 1 or 2 servers. (6 cores/server minimum for 2 | 8 minimum if 1 server) using multiple blade servers in an enclosure. What I want advise on. I want advise on what the best option would be. If there are better options I also would like to know. Budget. I could spent a max of 2000 euro on it. I would like it to be not 2000 if possible. (I will keep an open mind on budget if needed) Where to buy. I live in the Netherlands. But cant seem to find good places to buy from. I would love to know if people have good links to those if possible. Software is not an issue. I already have that covered. If any questions just ask. I would love to answer them. Thanks in advance. -Jeremy (Yiru)

I'm looking for something handy for measuring power draw, ideally just a single device (or maybe two) for measuring: Power draw from AC socket Power draw from USB The minimal features and price range I'm hoping for are similar to netool: Easy to read logs: no unknown format, plaintext is better, but binary format with detailed specification also works Connection to configure/read data: SD Card/Wifi/BLE or even better: directly via USB Minimal display to display stats like current power usage Ergonomic size and weight (best if pocket sized like Multi-Meters) Decent accuracy (at least <2% error) and precision (3 significant digits, more if better accuracy) Range For AC power draw, support at least upto 300W sustained, ideally upto 2000W peak, 1500W sustained For USB power draw, support at least 100W, full support for USB PD 3.1 is better Time scale: configurable with averaged calculated over a period of an hour to 10ms Storage: Store at least 10 million data points (aka at least around 100MB memory) Option to either overwrite older logs or stop logging once memory is full Cost: 200-250 USD for a single solution, 180-200 USD for two (docking 20% due to lower convenience) <-- just a guideline Not all points need to be fulfilled, so I'd like you to give your suggestions even if they don't satisfy 2 or 3 points. They would be helpful to find a decent tradeoff if there's no ideal solution. PS: Personally I'd accept janky/DIY solutions, but this is not personal, so feel free to propose DIY knowing that it'd be helpful for others searching, but not for my situation

I just noticed a serious privacy issue with Facebook. When just viewing someone profile on Android app it's automatically sent requests to them. At first I thought it was a human error then I couldn't locate the "friend request" or the message to cancel it. Other users on reddit have reported the issue. Now I have all these unsavoury friend suggestions. Check your Facebook hasn't been affected, hope this information helps. Hello fellow nerds / tech enthusiasts, I'm looking for a good audio receiver / amp, I have have a budget of about $200 USD (though I'd prefer to pay less rather then more) The more inputs the better, I only need two or three 5.1 or 7.1 would be kind of nice, but I only need two speakers I'm fine with buying used, but I'd prefer a new one (though I'd totally buy a restored classic receiver) It'd be cool to be able to switch between speaker sets, but it's not important I don't need any optical or eARC ports as it probably won't be used with a tv, I use rca and some 1/4in headphone jacks Bluetooth would be nice, but I really don't need it 100 watts at 8 ohms is probably my sweet spot for power Aesthetics are nice but not super important I'm looking at the Sony STRDH190 (I'd probably buy an open box one), and the Yamaha R-S202BL Thanks guys :)

Long time viewer, first time poster. Long story short I'm upgrading my pc from 9th gen to 13th gen and moving from ddr4 to ddr5. I currently have a 9900k cooled by a h100i aio and rtx 3070ti and will be upgrading to a 13900kf with a h170i aio. I currently have an rm750x psu from corsair. I was looking at the hx1000i also from corsair to replace this. Would that be a good choice or does anyone have any other reccomendations? Further to this I have bought the 7000d airflow case to go with this upgrade and I'm struggling to find a board at a reasonable price that has the 2 usb 3 headers and usb 3 type c header. The majority of boards only seem to have 1 usb 3 header. I've been looking at the Asus Rog Strix Z790-E, it has the headers I need and I can afford it but £530 for a mobo just seems too much to me. Alternatively I've been looking at the MSI MEG z690 Ace. It also has the headers I need, and at a cheaper price of £400. I'm just unsure whether to go with the older chipset. My ram should work in either chipset as its 6400MTs cl32 and has both boards listed on the QVL. So yeah, just looking for any suggestions on those two things really. P.s. forgot to mention, I really only use my pc for gaming, and I pretty much never oc

I've got an idea to make my home a bit smarter and wanted to be able to access my home printer from school so I don't have to think about printing resources required by my teachers every time I get home. So I found an unused raspberry pi, set it up, bought public IP from my ISP and got to work. Everything worked fine until I've got stuck and cannot find a solution to the last step required to mark this as done. Every time I set up a port forwarding to my raspberry. Internet stop working. Connections that were made before I set it up still work, but I can't do any new ones (like Discord call is still working or YouTube video is still able to load itself). This behaviour ends only if I change DNS from my Pi-hole and change it to something else like Cloudflare. I first thought that this might be because Pi-hole might use the same port for its services but after I changed the port of the print server a few times I've proven myself wrong. I also tried to set up Pi-hole as a DNS through each device connected, that didn't help either. I should probably mention that if I have my DNS forwarding to pi-hole, pi-hole sees it and responds with "OK, sent to 1.1.1.1"- message that is expected so Pi-hole should not be a problem. Router model, if helpfull: Phicomm KE 2P Sorry if there are some problems with understanding my text. I am not a native speaker.

I've been watching LTT for awhile now and I must say that the quality of the videos are almost unmatched by any other creator. It got me thinking though. Why don't you guys upload HDR Videos? Most phones/Televisions support It, along with LMG having the resources to do so. Will we possibly see a branch out in the future?

LTT. please record vid about it
hacknorris posted a topic in Linux, macOS and Everything Not-Windows
okey. im gonna just tell you to record a vid where you : - will find any bug in kde neon (most bugs are in beta developer version) and: - make account on their bug requester with other nick which wouldnt show anything youtube-related (no "linus" or "ltt" ) - normally show this bug. why would you do it? me about a month ago filed first request to them. nothing special i could live with it (installer problems). then i filed second (devlopment-related). and at the end third (settings and themes related). to the now i didnt got any replys to first 2 bugs. third one got marked as duplicate tons of times spamming same way my email. few days after mine last request i got yet other bug (might be just because they got angry that a normal guy, not a star of smth reports too much things or idk): i was deinstalling unused gnome desktop (i just had it for some testing reasons), i left pc for night to complete removal. at morning i just saw empty desktop with 0 apps (literal factory reset, like on android/ios/windows, not linux)... i was (yes not a joke, i was dumb then). kde neon beta-developer. (plasma, system version i already forgot). hope ya'll make similar vid soon. maybe they'll change. and here take these mine requests (for not cheating) : https://bugs.kde.org/buglist.cgi?email1=hacknorris123456789%40gmail.com&emailassigned_to1=1&emailreporter1=1&emailtype1=exact&field0-0-0=bug_status&field0-0-1=reporter&list_id=1959519&type0-0-0=notequals&type0-0-1=equals&value0-0-0=UNCONFIRMED&value0-0-1=hacknorris123456789%40gmail.com thanks for reading. i also left you a comment under first part of linux on yt ;) -
Looking for a mid-range [About under 400€/470USD/590CAD/350£] Android phone. Hello, After my current phone Samsung A71 has experienced water/alcohol damage within a couple of months it started to be more and more unusable. (Note: Warranty won't cover anything.) I've decided to start looking for a new device, before this one is completely unusable. Before this phone I had a Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus + with the increasing sales of Xiaomi phones I started looking from there. The two Xiaomi phones that caught my eye are: Mi 11 Lite 5G Poco F3 After reading more into the phones, MIUI and remembering my own experience I am being turned off from purchasing a Xiaomi phone due to people experiencing bugs with MIUI. I do not want to install custom ROMs also. This is why I am asking for help to look for another alternative, gain more information and maybe reconsider listed or other Xiaomi phones. --- I plan to use the phone to watch YouTube, browse Reddit & the Internet and other apps. I don't do much gaming on the phone, besides occasional casual mobile games that shouldn't really require a lot. Having an amazing camera doesn't really mater, but it is still good to have a camera that would take good photos from time to time. Since I use the phone a lot it would be nice if it lasted the whole day. Furthermore I want the phone to be **reliable** and not complicated to use. Also if you are recommending a phone you use please share your positive and negative experience with it as well. Thank you! --- Region: EU, Lithuania.

Hello, I am a small streamer, I like streaming video game content to my friends. My PC specs are strong, but still I find lots of stuttering in my streams and I am unsure what settings to use with my hardware and with my games. I tend to be technically literate (I work in IT) but stream settings are something new to me. Hardware specs: Ryzen 7 2700X, cooled by NZXT Kraken X72 with noctua redux fans Asus Crosshair VII Hero WiFi ASUS ROG 2080 SUPER Advanced 2x16GB TridentZ NEO RGB @ 3200Mhz CL 16 (x470 wont go above 3200 sadly) 2x1TB Samsung 970 EVO ssd Seasonic 1000W Titanium PSU Lian Li PC-011D Razer with all 9 fans populated, so no airflow issues Gigabit Ethernet from Charter Spectrum (only gigabit option in my area, speeds are pretty good) Monitor 1: 2560x1440 @ 144Hz Monitor 2: 1920x1080 @ 120Hz Razer Kiyo webcam 720p 60Hz Optional: I have an elgato 4k60 Mk2 capture card, but I don't think plugging it into the same PC that runs the games will really do anything. Maybe I'm wrong? I run HWINFO while streaming, and my GPU temps never exceed 75 degrees C, and my CPU never exceeds 50C, so I know temperatures aren't my limitation. My RAM usage hovers between 40% and 60% while streaming. GPU is pinned in some games (War Thunder, Risk of Rain) but not in others (Rocket League, which is capped at 175FPS). I run all my games at 1440p, and prefer them to run at 100Hz or more with decent detail settings, since its a 2080S. I have tried both CPU and GPU/NVENC encoding, and have found mixed results with both. Since I have an 8C/16T CPU that runs at decent boost clocks, usually 4.2GHz all-core with 2 cores at 4.3, I imagine that CPU encoding would be the way to go, but regardless of my encoder I notice pretty severe hitching in the stream content. My games tend to run fine--except for Risk of Rain, which is unplayable unless I change the resolution to 1080p--but the stream performance is all over the place. Sometimes it runs smoothly, streaming 1080p 60 fps with variable bitrate between 4800-5500, but most of the time what viewers see is a stuttering mess, where every second or so there is a severe hitch in gameplay. I know there are people out there who have a lot more familiarity with streamlabs settings, so I beseech you for your wisdom. The main points I'd like to know are: 1) Will running the capture card make a single difference or not? 2) Should I be using game capture or window capture in Streamlabs 3) Based on my specs, and desire to game at 1440p144hz and stream at 1080p60hz, which encoder should I use, and with what settings? 4) Is streaming at 1080p60hz an overzealous goal with my specs and lack of capture PC? 5) Are there any other settings in streamlabs that will enhance my streaming experience and performance? I appreciate anyone who reads this to the end, and your advice is appreciated. I know merely what I desire, and I seek to learn what I must do. Thank you for your time. Addendum: An in-depth dive into stream settings and the effect on performance would be an interesting video for the LTT team to make, I think a decent portion of the community would benefit from Streamer Tech Tips.

Well, I'm not sure how many of you actually saw my post in the Software section yesterday, but in case you didn't, I was asking around if an image of 1 aspect ratio can be resized to a totally different aspect ratio. (In a nutshell, that was the main goal of that post.) Obviously, I'm quite inexperienced & don't really have a clue what I'm doing or supposed to do when it comes to stuff like this. I would normally do something like this if I wasn't so inexperienced, but I feel like this sort of job is best left up to the pros & experts out there. Besides, even newbies like me can make mistakes despite thinking we've learned enough & have all the know-how. Hope you all understand why I'm a bit more comfortable having someone more experienced do it for me. With that being said, I'd like to ask if any experienced editors out there would be willing to resize a few images for me that I'll be using in a project I'm currently working on? For anyone that wants to know, the images I have in mind are a little bit taller than they are wide & I want them to be resized to 1920x1080 while not having any details WHATSOEVER cropped out as well as NO stretching! Also, I don't want any background colors or transparency applied to the resized images as well. The links to both images will be provided below. I'll be sure to reply back & fill you in! Or you can also reach me on Discord. Username is Jennings92 #8495. Hoping to hear back from anyone who wishes to help! Thanks in advance!

Hello, I want to invest my money in a portable device. I looked for Microsoft Surface Devices but the feedback I have seen was pretty bad from everyone who's not only worling with devices like these. I want a device which I can take on my trip easily I'm looking towards 13 inch sizes. I want to work with it which means it should handle Excel files ~5-25 MB, Heavy Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Teams loads. For gaming I don't play any FPS or Racing games, I'm totally fine with 1080p. I want to be able to play Diablo 2 Resurrected and Civ 6, And it would be nice if I could connect it to a bigger display. I have seen a video from linus for the ASUS Flow X13. This seemed nice, even though I heard it is absolutely not upgradeable. It's not that it's an issue now, but the device is getting pretty hot so I'm afraid it may be a throwaway device and for that it is not cheap enough. Do you have suggestions or reports from your own experience?

I am currently in the first year of College here in the Philippines. As you may not know, we are still in a quarantine situation. With that, we do online classes. This is all of my computer specs and I do not know what makes it super slow. I am lowering my pride and ask if you would kindly give me a ran down or used up computer parts that you have previously used in your videos. I do not care if its a latest or not, anything would do as long as it is a little bit better with what I have right now. I am only from a lower-middle clas family. We may be able to eat everyday, but I cannot make any selfish request. A selfish request it is, because I intend to game as well. Sad truth is I cannot play most games before, since new updates come up. I've been able to play League of Legends before, now I cannot. I want to be able to do online classes and play games after. If you would see this and reply, that would be appreciated. Thank you for your time. My computer specs is attached below. - A LinusTechTips fan, Caj Abejo received_918174528945938.webp

This is just a suggestion, but I would like to see a review of this monitor: https://www.newegg.ca/p/N82E16824012013?item=N82E16824012013&source=region&nm_mc=knc-googleadwordsca-pc&cm_mmc=knc-googleadwordsca-pc-_-pla-_-gaming+monitors-_-N82E16824012013&gclid=CjwKCAjww5r8BRB6EiwArcckC6gt4Rm0m3vTVq5O-VlZWdG5m3VKhCR6djyLHz9WU8Ku0JlR6VLADRoCBpAQAvD_BwE It's called the gigabyte G27QC and it's a 27", curved, 1440p, 165hz gaming monitor. I want to get it, but want to find some more reviews for it. Especially from you guys. It's very similar to the AOC CQ27G1, but a slighty higher refresh rate. And it's 1ms response time.

Hello, i’m new to the forum. i’ve been watching LTT for quite some time now. Thought joining the forum would be fun and positive. Apologies if i start topics or video requests sometimes out of curiosity. Anyone ever took apart the internals of different display brands out of curiosity to see how different they are from each other. Because i have been using a 5 year old used 1080p60 monitor from Philips and its still great while a friend of mine has been using a better curved IPS display which is cheaper and a relatively unknown brand called nvision and it is starting to have problems already. Is this just maybe in his situation. Don’t know why but local or unknown and cheap brands are becoming popular around my area and i have mostly stuck to the proven ones.

Hi Everyone. Like many others inspired by LTT videos on NAS storage, I've finally decided to tackle my ever growing pile of external SSDs and set-up a home NAS. My thought process and decisions are outlined below. Use Cases: - Backup all data (documents, photos, videos, etc.) - Learn and run Docker instances (Photoprism, Vaultwarden, NextCloud (maybe) and etc.) - Run a Windows VM (if I wanted to run something CPU intensive) - Use TrueNAS Scale as the OS. I'll start with a batch of 4 HDDs in a ZFS1, and then add more in the future. - Run Plex. - Potentially be able to have access to the NAS from outside the home network. Buying Decisions: - The PCPartPicker List is here: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/kXvJGL - Buying new components as deals came up - Looked into picking up used Xeon / server components but as this is the first time I'm building such a system I'd preferred to get new parts for peace of mind. - Went with AMD as opposed to Intel - Having trouble finding a consumer Intel CPU / MOBO combo with ECC support (likely I'm overlooking or don't understand the spec sheets I'm reading ). - Get ECC memory (vs. Non-ECC) - I researched on this and there's a lot of differing opinions but I erred on the side of caution and decided to go with ECC. Next Steps / Requests: - Critique any of the decisions I've made and provide recommendation(s) based on my use cases. Thank you for your time and assistance!

Hi, I'm hear to complain about a simple issue. Why do Linus Tech Tips(and all other channels) not have closed captions that are not auto generated. Your a tech group that has covered multiple different disabilities over the years and ways that companies have made to help them. Some can't hear and still want to game and build pcs. I want to make sure that you know I'm not deaf and am not complaining on behalf of people who are deaf. I just like to use subtitles now(too much anime). With TechLinked, it would be easy to just copy and paste the script and edit around the goofs. You are also getting a lot bigger as a company. I would recommend hiring someone to do the subtitles for all of your channels(nudge nudge).

Help please. I want to canghe the boot sound
Joamgz posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I've seen in some TikToks that when you start your PC it doesn't sounds like the normal predator boot sound. Instead it sounds like Jarvis from the IronMan movies. How do you change the stock boot sound? I know how to disable the sound and the animatio, but I really appreciate if someone could advise me on how to change the boot sound. Thanks in advance. Here's the TikTok I saw: https://vm.tiktok.com/tfSBCA/ -
Hello, I'm looking for a good laptop mostly for gaming but shouldn't look to gamery (also for going to class), I would also like to have quite a lot of storage since sometimes school files can take up a lot of space and it's easier to have access to them via the laptop would prefer 1TB+ (this can be ignored if the laptop is otherwise very good). As an added downside I live in Belgium which means I'm used to an AZERTY keyboard and that deals from America are to expensive to ship over. If anybody has any good recommendations I would greatly appreciate it, thanks in advance. Budget is max 1600 euro

Hi guys. I need some help. Just bought a second screen to stand vertically next my primary, but i'm having a hard time getting Win 10 or nVidia to adjust the height properly so that the mouse cursor is at the same height when I move from one screen to another :( Both programs want to "snap" the screen into place when i try to drag it to the right spot. Any advice would be much appreciated :)

Hey there, folks. This is the second map I've put together in SnapMap, the first being another boss battle that I used to get acquainted with how the editor works. Hopefully what I learned was put to good use, as I spent a long time ironing out bugs and making this one flows smoothly. The single-player aspect should work perfectly, but I've only had one opportunity so far to test co-op and fix those bugs because flaky friends are flaky. Anyway. I made a single-player or co-op boss battle involving adds that each have unique effects on the player or on the boss himself. Each add has a text popup that might give you an idea of its role in the fight (or more specifically, what it might do to you or the boss). I designed the encounter with the intent of positioning and add management being key. He is hard as hell by design when played solo because having a friend by your side is an option. If someone would give it a shot and let me know how bad it is and how I should feel bad, that would be awesome. Search for "Azaxas" on SnapMap and play "Azaxas, the Phantom Returned v2." You'll also see "Azaxas, the Phantom," but that was my first attempt (mentioned above) at creating a boss battle. It ain't that good in the grand scheme of things, but it's there. That's why this one has him named "the Returned." If you want to see what the fight looks like, here's a video: Also, if someone wants me to I can later post a full breakdown of how the fight works. Thanks for reading!
