The pc was recently assembled. Booted normally first time. Installed windows and drivers. Every device recognized in the Device Manager. So i decided to do some stress testing in order to check for stability issues. Ran AIDA, and upon running it it couldn't detect my motherboard. Speccy detected it normally (not sure if important info). Anyway, after turning on AIDA stability test, after a few minutes it said hardware failure and stopped the test. No BSOD, no lockup freeze or anything, just stopped the test. Temps were normal for the short time it ran. I then ran memtest, after 10 minutes there were about 500 errors. I removed stick from B2 slot and left only one stick in A2 slot. Reran the test, not same amount of errors, not same test errors, but still errors. So at the moment i'm in the process of testing each stick in each slot. If i get errors in all tests what does that mean? How do i determine if Mobo is the culprit or the RAM or even the CPU. Ideas welcome, tnx Oh and bios was updated to MSI's newest version provided by their support directly Current state, 1 stick all 4 slots = errors, 2nd stick = errors in all slots. Small update. I ran intel burn test at high settings for 10 passes no problems. I set the settings to maximum the test failed after 2nd pass. Intel extreme tuning utility stress on cpu passed (5 minutes though). Aida still fails stability within 2-3 minutes. CPU temps were in high 40's to low 50's in 18 degree ambient.

1. Budget & Location ~Budget; 2200 Euro's (Already own a GTX 1080 Founders) I also don't mind paying whole my Budget ~Location; Europe 2. Aim It's primary use is Gaming, CS:GO, Battlefield 1, Titanfall 2, Borderlands, The Witcher 3, etc. (Let's just say Triple A) I will also be using this Build for Content Creation as a frequent Hobby, 3D Rendering on CS:GO level, 2K Video and 4K+ Photo Editing 3. Monitors Im not sure if I'm going for a 21:9; 34"; 144Hz; 1080p Monitor, 16:9; 27"/29"; 144Hz; 1440P Monitor, I'm pretty sure I won't go with a Multi-Monitor Setup 4. Peripherals Only need Windows, I can hold of on a Keyboard and Mouse 5. My Build This is the Build I came up with (Maybe Custom Loop?) http://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/3jMkwV PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i7-6800K 3.4GHz 6-Core Processor (€455.94 @ Mindfactory) CPU Cooler: Corsair H115i 104.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler (€139.89 @ Amazon Deutschland) Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX X99 GAMING ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard (€280.99) Memory: Corsair Dominator Platinum 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR4-3200 Memory (€182.84 @ Mindfactory) Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (€101.84 @ Mindfactory) Storage: Western Digital BLACK SERIES 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (€82.84 @ Mindfactory) Case: be quiet! I have originally posted this question, but the title seemed to ve misleading.a lot of people. So I am currently looking for a new pc case to upgrade to. I would really like to have a lot of expandability and some spare room in the cases, so I would like to get the largest case possible, that has a modern look. Upon research, I found that the Corsair 1000d and the Thermaltake View 91 were the two cases that seemed to fit my purposes. I tried to compare the sizes of the two cases, but quickly found out that I couldn't do so accurately due to the presence of case feet on View 91 that is lacking on the 1000d. Obviously, the dimensions of the feet should not be counted towards the size of the chassis, but this is not the case foe the given dimensions on the Thermaltake site. If anyone happens to have the View 91 chassis, could they please measure and post the dimensions of the case excluding the feet? Thanks!

Hi! 4K is slowly becoming the new standard and I'd like to do a transitional build. One that does both. 1080p for the more intensive games and 4K for the less. I will also edit videos and create games on this machine. Once I upgrade to a new system, a single GPU will handle 4K smoothly. I have a 1080p monitor and all the peripherals, as well as an HDD. These are the specs I'm thinking about: Gigabyte Z97P-D3 CM Storm Scout II Gaming Ghost White 2×MSI Radeon R9 390 8GB Kingston SSDNow 120GB HyperX Savage 2400MHz 16GB Samsung 28" 4K LED 28D590D Corsair RM850 Windows 10 This would (currently) cost me $2456.48, which I can afford. Should I do this now or wait until the 100-series of motherboards? Should I do this at all?

A few weeks ago, I built a new desktop with the following specs: CPU: 2-core Intel Pentium G3258 MoBo: MSI Z97M-G43 Chipset: Intel Z97 Express Graphics: 4GB GDDR5 EVGA GT 740, Superclocked One DVI output is being used at 1240x1080 RAM: 8GB Kingston HyperX 1866MHz DDR3 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate running on a freshly formatted 120GB SSD, along with most programs. Media and some programs are stored on a 1000GB, 7200RPM Seagate HDD. Its primary purpose is game development / gaming, amateur music production / animating; and its secondary purpose is heavy internet browsing / media. A matter of days after it was built, I noticed that the computer often has bouts of frequent, irritating freezes caused by the CPU; during which, it does not respond and sometimes (but not always) even the cursor stops working. I created a forum thread asking what CPU I should buy to replace the g3258, but they did not get enough information, so they didn't believe that it was the CPU that was freezing and gave me the wrong advice. I decided to create a new thread to get rid of the other confused replies, and because the cause of the problem may be something other than hardware. Let me explain. The graphics card is definitely not the problem. It never dips below 75 fps (refresh rate for my monitor) when doing anything but very intensive graphics. When the freezes occur, they occur whether I am running a program that involves graphics or none at all. These freezes are definitely the CPU overloading, for the following reasons: 1. When the computer freezes, it does not respond to any inputs for several seconds. 2. If I have task manager open, during a freeze, it always says that the CPU (both cores) are at 100% processing capacity. The moment it goes below 100% is when it unfreezes. No exceptions have ever occurred. Now, there is one thing I observed that may point to the cause BEHIND the CPU getting overloaded being something else. Any time I press the button on my keyboard to make the computer sleep, and then come back a few hours later, the freezes occur very commonly and for extended periods of time - at least once per minute that is over 5 seconds. After a restart, the freezing stops. If I leave the computer running overnight without letting it go on standby, when I use it in the morning, generally there are no issues. I will do further testing tomorrow and give an update. In any case, the Pentium architecture IS old and I want a better CPU, so I will be buying the core i5-4690K. However I suspect that this freezing problem still needs to be resolved. In conclusion, the CPU getting overloaded is definitely the problem - not the graphics card. However, the cause to the freezes COULD be something else. If you have any ideas to help, that would be very great. Thank you for reading this enormous wall of text that I spent 40 minutes writing on my phone, and thank you in advance for the help!

As the title suggests I need some input/suggestions on a budget slime HTPC. The system is mainly going to be used for constant web browsing i.e. Spread betting, CFDs, and Stockbroking, and some media consumption like YouTube and Netflix. It needs to be both fast, reliable and somewhat rugged. The budget is not set but lets see what we can do for £300 to £400. Also overclocking is not out of the question just not sure if this system will need it, and not sure if I can run the Intel G3258 on older H81 chipset without immediate Bios update as I'm not sure if I can update the Bios from a usb. I have provided a Pc part picker link which should provide a basis of what my current thoughts are for this build. Any input is welcome and greatly appreciated. Also this is very early on in the planning stage and nothing is set in stone, and the ram listed is a place holder for now thinking of changing but might need 8GB capacity as this build will not be for me but my uncle who refuses to not install Norton internet security even though it's really bad on managing resources in my opinion. Hello everyone! I'm new here to the community. I'm coming here not only because I love Linus's channel but I also have a question for all of you "tech wizards" out there... I've been a laptop user for all my life due to its mobility, I used to take it over friends houses for sleep overs. Now that I'm going to be working full time and attending college part time, I feel that I should convert to a desktop not only for its "battlestation" looks but also it's performance increase. I'm not looking to build a PC just yet (perhaps in the future when I feel more comfortable). So I decided to look for a pre-built custom gaming computer on craigslist. I found this one listed @ $700 and have had negotiations to bring it down to $600. The specs for the computer are the following: Monitor: Dell 2707WFP(DVI & VGA Outputs) Power Supply: Corsair AX850 Power Supply(Modular Connections) Motherboard: EVGA FTW3 Video Card: EVGA GTX570(Dual VGA Outputs) Processor: Intel Extreme I7 920 Memory: gSkill RipJaws DDR3-1600 12800 4gb sticks total of 24gb RAM Case: Antec P100 custom case with silence panels Case Fans: 5 case fans Air Filters: 2 Air Filters Wireless: TP-link TL WDN-4800 450mbps wireless PCI card Heat Sink: Intel Extreme heat sink SSD Hard Drive: Crucial m8 SSD 128gb Sata Hard Drive: WD Green 2tb 7200rpm drive Here's my overall question: Is this computer worth the money that he is asking for? He claims to have built it about a year ago but I find it hard to believe considering the graphics card is almost 3+ years old. And if I do happen to purchase this rig, how much longer do you believe I can use it before it desperately needs an upgrade. Thanks and I'm looking forward to hearing your personal opinions/recommendations on what I should do regarding this PC! (Note: Attaching PC picture that he listed it with below) Attached Thumbnails
