I have a tenda AC11 as my main router. And I want to use a Mercusys MW325R as a wireless repeater. Now the problem is, after doing the WDS Bridging on the mercusys, keeping both the router SSID different, and the LAN IP as 192.168.0.1 for the tenda, and 192.168.0.2 for the mercusys, when I connect with the mercusys router, I cant access the config page (192.168.0.2) or (mwlogin.net) of the router I just was configuring on anymore.

Hi, Ever since I moved to a house in a rural area I am having issues with my cellphone reception. I was able to manage but since a new house was built between me and my nearest BTS the situation worsened. I started to research possible solutions, What would work best for me would be to have external antenna placed outside the house connected to some transponders inside. Unfortunately couldn't find any source I could trust all videos on the topic seem a little bit sketchy to me. I don't know if my issue is so niche that no major brands make solutions for it. Or maybe GSM boosting / repeating is inherently impossible / illegal and all solutions that are available on the market are fake or bordering on illegal. I've read this linustechtips topic but aside from price bracket and signal strength considerations i does not give me a clear answer on what to look for. I don't want to spend $300+ on something that doesn't work or gets me in trouble. I have two questions: #1 Did anyone here used or had other experience with this tech. #2 If yes, what brands should I look for? I'd be grateful for any help.

Hey guys , i am having some trouble managing my network. The wifi signal i s too week in my living room(just on the final bar) and i am looking to extend my network. I hace already tried the wifi extender option but the signal is too weak and i am not able to get a decent connection. I have no way of placing the extender halfway. ( i have a tp link archer a7) and am looking to use thier OneMesh function but with no success. I am looking for a variant to use another router and connect it via lan cable, but DO NOT WANT TO MAKE IT AN ACCESS POINT. I have already tried that variant and the signal on my devices stays on the lowest bar and does NOT disconnect or transfer to the other router when i switch rooms. Is there a way to do this

So i bought this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0084ZYI88/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 it looked reasonable with helping me get some better wifi coverage around my house. my pc doesnt have a wifi card so i was using powerline adapters for my pc and that took a major internet speed hit, i get about 120mbps upload and download when i have an ethernet plugged strait in from my router but thats across my house so i wasnt planning on doing that. with the powerline adapters i got about 20mbps upload and download so i needed something else. so i bought the wifi range extender, now i have it i connected my pc to it with one of the gigabit ports on the back and RIP, the speeds are SUPER unstable, one moment they are at 80mbps upload and download the next moment they cant surpass 5mbps. and i play a lot of games on my pc so this is kind of a problem, is this just something wrong with my model? it seemed to have decent reviews so i didnt think something like this wouls happen. Usually when i test the speeds it gets around 35 to 40mbps, (which is still much lower than i should be getting) but like i said its very inconsistent at times

As a student gamer on a budget who has to save every penny he earns for a barely operational car, I can't really afford to buy powerline adapters or a networking card for my new PC. I suppose I could, but I see no reason to when I have a handy dandy Raspberry Pi 3. I can't always run ethernet through the middle of my house, as it irritates my folks, but I can't play rocket league with a 1000 ping either. So, I would like to use the pi to essentially serve as a wifi repeater in my room when I can't use a direct link, receiving the signal from my router downstairs, through-putting it to my PC via ethernet, and back through the loop. I know it is indeed possible, and the meager 2-3 mbps I could expect (i think I could expect at least) would be good enough for 99% of my needs. Plus, I believe this could be a fun little 2-3 hour project to help me learn a little bit of linux and basic networking. So the question I have is, where do I start? All of the searches I've done have led me to things that are semi-relevant, but not exactly the same. I just don't want to go through a long process of copying code I don't fully comprehend only to find that in the end, I had been following a tutorial on the wrong how-to. Any help would be oh so greatly appreciated.

Hi i have an unused tplink n600 rounter and was wondering if there was a way to use it as a wirless reapeater without having to connect it to the main router, as im not able to run a ethernet cable between them. thanks

My default router is a 5ghz (dual band) asus router, which works fine but sometimes the connection gets very weak in my bedroom. So i found this old 2,4 ghz tp-link router lying around and thought i could use it as a repeater in the bedroom. Would that work or do i have to switch the main router down to 2,4 ghz in order to get this sh*t rollin? Most of the time i use the wifi near the main router, so i wouldnt want to compromise the faster and less crowded 5 ghz.

Hi guys,I wanted to extend my wifi signal range because my default router given by my isp is not that great . Im looking to extend the signal about 20-30 meter outside my house and would to know if this repeater can do the job http://www.tp-link.com/ph/products/details/cat-12_TL-WA801ND.html. Also, will this repeater work with my current router or will there any possible problem ? Thank you and sorry for the lame question,I dont know much about networking.

Hey, Community! I have a D-Link DSL-2750U Router which is connected to my Phone Line and I have a TP-LINK TL-WR940N Router connected to LAN via RJ45 Cable (CAT 6) in the same room. The Main problem here is I don't get enough range in my bedroom when I work late night. So anyone knows how to get these babies fired up and set up and running without any signal loss or frequency bands interfering like giant monsters Thanks, Martin Noronha

Hi All, I am looking for a small, affordable (Cheaper the better), and low-power Wi-Fi repeater or bridge. Allow me to be more specific though. I do not intend to extend my Wi-Fi network wirelessly, but instead, I wish to configure the repeater as a client, and then connect something via ethernet. I want to do this because I live in a 140-year-old home and running ethernet cables through the walls is not an option for me. The device i'm connecting will be a part of my home automation system, and it only has an ethernet port, hence why I need to go about this in this fashion. Also, the device is extremely low bandwidth and low priority. It's connection does not need to be incredibly stable nor does it need to be gigabit. I do, however need to be able to disable wireless re-broadcast. I have done this before with a Blu-Ray player in the far end of my home with a NETGEAR WNDR3300, which works great because it can stream HD with little to no buffering. I have a couple more WNDR3300's laying around, but I don't want to use them for this project because 1) They are large. And 2) They have high power consumption. Has anyone had a similar experience with a cheap router before? I would even be interested if I can install DD-WRT on it as well, but if it can be configured as a wireless client out of the box, i'm happy! Thanks for any input!

Hey everyone! Quick question: I need to install a wireless IP camera for a friend, however, the camera will be a few hundred feet outside of the house. We have light posts with power all the way down (needed to power repeaters), although we do not have ethernet at those locations. I was thinking I'd be able to just use a wifi repeater (or 2) to allow the far away camera to connect to the main network. Will I be able to do this? I'm pretty sure I need the camera to be on the same local area network as the NVR (Network video recorder), and I'm not sure if these wifi repeaters will allow that. Or will they? What settings would I need? Is there any relatively easy way to do this? Thanks! NVR I'm using: https://www.amazon.ca/Amcrest-NV4432E-16-Channel-Network-Recorder/dp/B01LOMDEPU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1506368140&sr=8-1&keywords=Amcrest+NV4432E+32+Chanel+(16-Channel+PoE)+Network+Video+Recorder+-+Supports+5-Megapixels+%40+30fps+Realtime%2C+ONVIF+Compliance%2C+USB+Backup%2C+Supports+up+to+24TB+HDD+(Not+Included)+and+More IP Camera I'm using: https://www.amazon.ca/Wansview-Wireless-Security-Weatherproof-VisionW2-Black/dp/B06WWNXFTR/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1506894527&sr=1-2&keywords=outdoor+wireless+ip+security+camera

Hey guys! (TL;DR available) I currently have an EoP set-up from my modem to a secondary router in another room about 30m away, however desipite the EoP being rated 500mbps (which is supposed to be 10MB/s correct?), I'm only getting ~4.5 MB/s. My ISP provides 100 mbps, and my wireless speeds at the modem reach ~95, however over the EoP the maximum I get is between 45 and 50 mbps. Wireless is not an option for my PC, as there are too many double-brick walls between the PC and modem. I will suggest a theoretical solution, and if anyone can tell me if it will work/have tried it before: Say I have a pair of Ethernet over power devices that are 200m apart and i will call them A and B. Say the speed A receives from the internet modem is 100Mbps, however there is a loss of 20 Mbps over the EoP connection. It I place another pair of EoPs (called C and D) between A and B*, would this reduce the amount of bandwidth loss over the network? *(where A would connect to C 100m apart, and then C connects to D directly next to C, which then links to B 100m away) TL;DR would adding a second pair of ethernet over power adapters between a current set reduce speed loss over the network?

So I have a setup where there is a main router which serves as a primary DHCP server and connected to it through lan there is a secondary router (TL-WDR 3600) which is supposed to be a wifi repeater. This is a picture of the setup. However, since the secondary router's firmware does not support wifi repeater mode, the IT guy that did the setup told that he just "disabled DHCP" to make it work. However, after a sudden power shortage during the night, the devices can't connect anymore to the wireless of the secondary router: the wireless SSID is there but when told to connect it won't, it will just show a buffering icon. The wifi of the main router works properly and has another SSID. I tried resetting the router and disabling DHCP but it still has the same problem.

Hello guys! I recently moved into a new apartment, and due to its layout, i cannot wire my pc directly to the router, so what i've done is i bought a range extender(tl-wa850re), and wired my pc to it, the extender itself is like a meter from the router, signal is perfect, and latency is near perfect most of the time, but every 20-30 seconds i get a huge lag spike(200-300ms), then it is back to normal. I'm fairly certain that the issue is the connection between the repeater and the router, because i pinged my router, and this is the result i got: Ping statistics for 192.168.0.1: Packets: Sent = 99, Received = 99, Lost = 0 (0% loss), Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 1ms, Maximum = 344ms, Average = 10ms This seems to happen pretty randomly, i do not know why. I tried: Updating firmware, disabling ipv6(someone suggested it on another forum),disabling other devices. So far, nothing worked, and I would be extremely thankful if anyone could give me any tips as to how can this be solved.

I live in a two story house. I have the router in an office next to the living room on ground floor. I have a desktop PC in my room, that is currently connected to the internet via a 50m ethernet cable. I live in Greece, so I don't know if a powerline kit would work (cause of the 3 phases). The thing is that I don't know if a wifi repeater/extender is a suiting solution, since I get no wifi on my phone from that room sometimes. My connection is 12down/0.8up mbps. I'm thinking about upgrading to VDSL 50down/5up mbps. I have the following questions: 1) How can I make the powerline work? (I think it is the optimal solution, since I read powerline has almost 0 losses) 2) In theory what will be the losses if I end up with a wifi repeater? (with my current connection) 3) Should I buy a repeater that has max wlan speed over 600 mbps? Thank you in advance

My college provides us with a WiFi service that only works with one device(they had asked for the MAC address of the device to be registered). I've registered my phone but recently I got a PC but I cant use the internet on it as there is no wifi adaptor installed in my PC. I used to connect my phone to the pc and turn on USB tethering to provide the computer with internet. The wifi connectivity is poor in my room so i bought a router to fix it and use it as a repeater. I need help as I'm able to connect the router to my dorm/college's WiFi but the connected devices go to my college's intranet website. I tried to mask the MAC of the router but it keeps resetting back to its default whenever repeater mode is on. Need suggestions on what can i do?

My desktop currently (usually) receives internet via an Ethernet connection to WiFi repeater that I found laying around. Anyways, the network I want to connect to has changed, so I need to log in to the repeater to change which network it repeats, however it seems I cannot log in; when I type it's IP address into a browser, it simply says failed to connect/site not found/ect. I have also connected via a laptop to the wireless network that it creates to repeat, and find the same issue. In the past, I was able to log into it from my desktop/laptop via its IP address (192.168.10.253); however it has been months since I last had to, and now I find that I no longer can. Could it's IP address have changed, or could there be some network setting preventing me from connecting? My current way of connecting my desktop to the desired network is not ideal, I'm using a phone USB tether to connect it to the desired network. It's a cheap Yetor wireless repeater I used the fact that I had it laying around to cut cost when I built my PC. I want to get an Ethernet cable eventually to bypass it but it would still be nice to repeat my network here and also i'd have to rout the cable to the other side of the house so that would take some planning/time/waiting for the cable/money/whatever so I'd like to get the repeater working again.

I have an office in my basement where I want to install a new Wifi Router, I get full signal from the wifi router on the main floor but I want a new one here. I was looking for a way to use a Google onHub TP Link router and pair it with my main router wirelessly and then use the onHub in my office. I need a router with a good mobile application, and Google onHub was the best one I could find. Can anyone help?

Hey Guys, I bought myself some Bluetooth Headphones and an Bluetooth Adapter [Asus USB-BT400]. But since I am using them my Internet connection is getting unstable to the point where I have 200+ Ping or have no Signal every few minutes I get my Internet connection via Ethernetcable from an Repeater in my room [Maybe the bluetooth signal is disrupting it?] Thanks in advance!

Hi I'm looking for a good budget repeater, no fancy features, 100mbps should be well enough. I'm a student and the wifi doesn't get to my room. Thanks in advance

Hi, my names Terry. Long time browser, first time poster and I've got a bit of a problem that I'm hoping I could get some guidance on I live in a 4 storey house on the very top floor. We have network cables ran throughout the entire house. I have the highest end socket. Attached to which is a 5-slot gigabit switch. The WiFi strength however is atrocious to say the least. I'm looking to extend the WiFi signal I've been looking at WiFi repeaters and such and spoke to the landlord who isn't willing to have an extra plug near the router for things such as: I'm on a ridiculously tight budget at the moment but. Is it possible to get a repeater that can run solely off of the switch I have? I have a power socket available and an Ethernet port open. I'm UK based To reiterate, I'm unable to have a plug like "room 1" in the example shown, but I do have cabled network access, with a Netgear GS105UK in the room in question
