Hello LTT forum, I've built my first computer and I've trouble shooted on this matter for the past 8 hours but there seems to be no end to my problem. When I start my PSU I have an 8-pin connected to my motherboard and nothing else from the PSU. I have a CPU installed, with a CPU watercooler also connected to the CPU-OPT, AIO_Pump and USB 2.0 (directly from the CPU cooler). Up in the left corner under "eatx12v_2" I have a red LED-light. I've tried about everything here: https://www.asus.com/us/support/FAQ/1042632/ Except connecting a 4-pin to "eatx12v_2" (cause I don't own one at the moment). It seems its not reaching "POST" which is a wide term I believe most of you is familiar with, not med sadly. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Setup: Motherboard - Asus Rog Strix B550-F Gaming CPU - Ryzen 9 3900XT 3.8ghz Cooler (if it matters): Kraken M22. PSU: Kolink Enclave 700 RAM: Corsair 32GB (16x2) DDR4 3200MHz CL16 (not setup or connected atm) GTX 970 DirectCU Mini. 1 250GB ssd 1 1TB HDD (WD Green).

Hello. My computer keeps either hanging or rebooting itself, with CPU & RAM red led light blinking, but this only happens during gaming; sometimes after 15min, sometimes after 20, 30, 40, etc...with no blue screen error. Either just hangs with a black screen or reboots itself. Has anyone experienced something similar or have any tips how to fix this? Specs are: CPU: Ryzen 7 2700X MB: Gigabyte Aorus B450 Elite RAM: 2x Kingston KHX3200C16D4/8GX 8GB 2x Kingston KHX2666C16/16G 16GB All of them set to 2400mhz GPU: Radeon RX 470 PSU: LC-Power LC8850III V2.3 Arkangel 3

The following lines explain the issue I faced a few months ago, it is very important for the context of the issue I'm facing : |||||||||||||||| MARCH 2 2023 |||||||||||||||| I have had this PC for almost 2 years now everything was working perfectly fine : CPU : Intel I7-11700k GPU : Zotac RTX 3070ti RAM : 2x8G 3600Mhz to whom I added another exact same 2x8G 3600Mhz a month ago MoBo : MSI Z590 Plus SSD(OS : Win10) : Samsung 980 Pro 1Tb M.2 nvMe HDD : Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm 1Tb SSD : Crucial MX500 250Gb PSU : Corsair CX750M One day I pushed my power button expecting windows to boot, and nothing happened, instead I had the Windows Boot screen (the loading dots thing) frozen, I thought it was weird, so I tried troubleshooting, so I restarted and entered bios to access to the troubleshooting reboot menu of windows, there I verified the OS files, tried a few things, safely ofc, and when it rebooted, it worked. I thought I had fixed it, but 2 days after I got the same thing happening, so I thought I'd do the same thing, but this time after I forced shut down and turned the pc back on, there was nothing. The GPU was on, fans were running, aaaand that CPU Red Led (attached file) was lit too. So I googled it, and tried those steps : CMOS Reset - PC booted once after that, but after I went into the bios to get my old settings back (resize bar and xmp merely), the issue came back CMOS battery replacement - PC booted after again, 2 times, then after putting BIOS settings back, cpu red light came back again. Cleaned the whole PC (physically), changed thermal paste, checked if there was anything wrong with the CPU's Socket, or if there was any pin that was broken, everything was clear and clean, did a CMOS reset as I was cleaning everything. This time I did NOT tweak BIOS to check if it was the source if my problems. It booted, once, then I restarted it to test it, annnd it didn't boot, but this time, IT WAS THE DRAM ORANGE LED. So removed all the ram I had except one, and put it on the first slot, dram led was still on, so I tried with another RAM stick, still on the same slot, and it booted. Expecting it to fail again, I made a save of all the files that were on the nvMe on my HDD just in case, then performed a clean reinstall (Win10), (the windows installer froze 2 times and I had to restart it, worked on third try), everything worked fine so I put the RAM back in, it worked again, so I kept updating drivers and had to restart a few times for that, and as expected, it failed after 2 or 3 restarts as I was updating everything. CPU Red Led again. I honestly don't know what to do anymore, so I have several questions, but the two main ones are these : - What is possibly going on ? - How can I fix that, if I can ? (EDIT : just tried to turn it on again to take a picture of the Red Led and it just seemed worked, I didn't touch anything, but the system completely froze on the Win10 lock screen). Anybody can help me with that please ? |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| I tested the RAM, it doesn't seem to be faulty. 2 months after that, in June 2023, I had the i7-11700k replaced with a new (same) one, and the motherboard changed to a MSI MAG Z590 TOMAHAWK WIFI. Everything worked fine since then... until this morning November 1 2023. I had the motherboard displaying the CPU Red led once, DRAM Orange led once, and it froze on BIOS instruction screen during boot once. It booted after a few tries, and I am currently saving my files, I expect my PC to start failing again. Of all sources I checked, I haven't seen anyone that managed to fix that issue. It appears to happen on Z590 chipset motherboards mostly, but seeing how it disappeared for a long time after changing the CPU, it might come from it too. Can anybody tell me where that issue comes from, and/or how to fix it please ?

Hello guys, I just built my first ever pc and after booting it up I found out that 2 LEDs on motherboard were saying something is not right, the first one was DRAM LED which went on for couple of seconds and then turned off after that the BOOT LED turned on and the pc booted into bios but the LED remained on. Components: Gigabyte B650 Gaming X AX (rev. 1.2) Ryzen 5 7600x RTX 4070 Corsair rm750e G.SKILL 32GB KIT DDR5 6000MHz CL30 Trident Z5 NEO AMD EXPO - CL30-38-38-96, voltage 1.35V ARCTIC Freezer 34 eSports DUO White Samsung 970 EVO PLUS 250 GB - boot driver (occupying slot M.2A) Kingston NV2 2 TB (occupying slot M.2B) NZXT H5 Flow with rgb fans No OS Bios updated from version F7 to F9d What I've tried until now: Clearing CMOS Updating bios Reseating ram, tried one stick in, changed the order Reseating cpu Loading optimized values in BIOS Running without GPU Disconnecting all fans (except cpu) That's all I wonder if it has something to do with motherboard 8+4 pin cpu connector, I connected both maybe that's a problem? I don't know. I tried searching the web but nothing seems to help. If anybody can give me some advice or help me in any way... I'm desperate

Hello. The following link will explain the issue I faced : After trying everything there and having replaced the given motherboard (in the linked topic) with a new one (MSI MAG Z590 TOMAHAWK WIFI), the issue still occurs randomly (sometimes it'll work fine, most of the times the PC can't boot). I don't know what to do anymore, and I am kinda loosing patience. I suppose the issue would be the CPU ? Which is weird since I had for 2 years and it worked perfectly fine, before this issue showed up. If anyone can help me fix that if there's a fix, that would be very very kind and helpful (please help a fella that had gaming taken from him for 3 months now ;') ) Thank you for reading.

This one is a doozy, so get ready. I recently got myself a used CPU, motherboard, and RAM combo. An i5-9400f, MSI B365M Mortar, and some generic SK Hynix 2x8GB RAM sticks to be specific. I assembled everything with my GPU, and power supply, pressed the power button, and got nothing. No spinning fans on the PC or the power supply; even the EZ Debug lights wouldn't light up to indicate anything, Even after completely baring the motherboard of all components, I couldn't get any sign of life. After more troubleshooting I realized that the CPU had an SMD capacitor missing from the underside of it, but from what I've heard, that shouldn't be a massive issue and the PC should still post. After some fiddling around, I found a capacitor around my building area, but it wasn't from the CPU, but the motherboard, the underside of the chipset to be specific. I'm not sure about the importance of that capacitor, but there might be some link with the PC not responding at all. I tried some weird stuff like putting the CPU 24-pin in and then shorting the pins used to turn the PSU on, which finally gave some life to the PC (never shorted the power switch of the mobo) when all the fans and lights started running, but I still wouldn't get a display, and the EZ debug CPU LED would stay at a stable Red color. This behavior persists whenever I turn on the PSU, without touching the PC power switch. After that, I've tried everything including clearing and removing CMOS, reseating CPU, RAM, GPU, power cables to no update on the situation. The LED stays Red and I get no display. I have no clue what to do now, but my guess is that either the CPU is dead or the motherboard, the latter making more sense. I've attached some pictures of the broken capacitor spaces I mentioned. Any type of help would be appreciated.

Just did a motherboard swap on my rig. Put in a z590 gaming plus from MSI and a 10700k. Previously to this my computer was running fine. Im a pretty big noob and have no clue what im doing. My RTX tuf card has a red LED ive never seen before. Google suggests its a seating issue (which is why i put it in the 2nd pcie slot, since the first slot's tab wasnt clicking) And i get no display. Everything lights up no matter the slot its in but i get no display and the light stays on (Website wont let me attach photos, for some reason but the led is right above the pcie connector...)

Hello LinusTech Friends , It seems that there is a serious problem with this Z490 Vision D motherboard because I read that others had the same problem as me on an old unresolved thread. My computer, which is new, worked for a maximum of one hundred hours before seeing these problems appear..... The CPU light located on the motherboard for detecting problems starts flashing red after a screen freeze. I had to cut the power to stop the computer, no mouse or keyboard access! I was able to restart my computer (which is completely new) once by disconnecting the cables behind the computer BUT the second time: It won't restart! My Computer IS NEW! Z490 vision D Gigabyte + I9 (10900K), (I don't have a graphics card mounted), I use the thunderbolt socket for the UAD audio interface with Ableton Has anyone solved this problem? Has he found the source of this problem ? Thank you

Hi, I just purchased this brand new super expensive PC from Bizon for deep learning programs. I've been using it only for around 2 weeks and it just died on me out of nowhere. I used the computer last 2 days ago and it was working fine; I turned it off normally through the windows OS. Whenever I connect the PSU to the power outlet (either being on or off), the F_Led light on my gigabyte wrx80-sus-ipmi motherboard is red (standby). Nothing is turning on when the power button is pressed. No fans, no lights (besides the F_led), no display. The case otherwise has been untouched and there have been no power surges. So I'm really not sure what's going on. I have plugged the power supply into other outlets and surge protectors and it still doesn't work. It looks like all the wires are in place on the motherboard. I have an RTX3090, threadripper pro, and 32gb ram installed. I also have a 1000 watt APC UPS with a load of only 200w when everything was connected and running at baseline. I haven't really started any GPU intensive programs yet and temps were always stable. I'm guessing either the PSU or MOBO randomly died, I just have no clue why this would happen with absolutely no interference or usage and if the computer was off. I've been emailing the company I bought it from, yet no reply back from them yet (probably due to it happening on a Sunday night). Either way, any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

I don't know any case fans that have 4 pin headers on top! If you find a case fan, please suggest it. But before you do that, I prefer a red led 120mm case fan! Thanks!

Today i built my first pc, and It is not booting. Specs: ryzen 5 3600 B450 aorus pro 16 GB g skill ripjaws 3000 mhz 650w psu Cooler master 212 black Rx 480 gigabyte Basically, the gpu is not being powered, its completely shut down, there's a red led in "dram" and it goes to cpu sometimes for like 0.5 seconds. I have plugged and unplugged the cables several times, tried all the RAM slots, removed the CMOS battery many times, reinstalled the CPU, i tried plugging another graphics card and It didnt work either, in both pcie ports, i unplugged and plugged the modular cables from the psu, the m.2 SSD also has a red led, and i've also tried replugging that in, and i think that's all i've tried. I've also paid 15 euros for a bios update. I guess the motherboard is causing the problem, but i really don't want to send it back, i just want it to work if you have ANY suggestions i could try, please tell me, thanks in advance.

I have an older system with an i5 2310 and GTX 1050, I noticed there is a red led light on near where the dvd drive plugs in and near the gpu. My pc works fine, its never felt hot (although I've never tested it), and the light goes away ONLY when the pc is unplugged, it stays on when the pc is turned on AND off. What is it? I don't THINK its anything but I want to make sure.

Hello guys! So on monday I helped my friend with his build and we basically completed it. But his pc isn't starting properly ?. When pressing the power button, the fans start to rotate but stop after ~1 sec and nothing appears on the monitor(basically nothing happens afterwards). There is a LED on the motherboard which indicates, that the motherboard gets electricity. Furthermore, the manual of the motherboard says that there is a LED, which glows red when there is a problem with the CPU(According to the manuel it should glow red all the time until the problem is fixed). The weird thing is that this LED only blinks quickly red when trying to start the pc. Do you guys still think that this quick blink still is indicating an CPU error? Any help would be appreciated. His specs: CPU: Intel Core i7-7700K MOTHERBOARD: ASUS ROG Strix Z370-F Gaming PSU: be quiet! Pure Power 10-CM 600W I think these are the important specs for this case. Tell me when you need more information! Yours sincerely, Stefan

Hey guys, im really struggling rn. I ran my computer for 6 months now and suddenly it now started having issues. Whenever I try to boot up the computer, all components that have leds are apparently working, fans are running on speed when pressing the power button. Now the problem is, that the computer isn‘t actually booting up anymore out of the sudden. The red led for the Cpu on my motherboard is on when turning on the computer. I‘ve tried a lot, but still haven‘t found a solution... I checked all the cables, checked the ram and also swapped all the ram spots and even tried the rams on different positions. I even reinstalled the gpu just in case. I removed my cpu cooler and checked the cpu itself and didn‘t notice anything suspicious... I even installed the boxed cooler and replaced my tower cooler because I thought it maybe could be the problem. So I basically tried a lot and still couldn‘t find the issue. The red gpu led on the mainboard is still on... Maybe you guys have an idea... just ask if you have any further questions. My components: Msi Mpg x570 Gaming Plus Ryzen 3900x Msi Gaming x Trio Rtx 2080S

System Won't boot Q code 00 Red Dram led
Tech_proof posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
A little over a year ago I built my system. Today i was playing the witcher 3 after my system had struggles booting with 2 failed overclock messages in the bios and having to reboot. A couple of hours later I wanted to play some more, but the system won't boot, monitors won't even light up. No Bios. Here's what I've tried with no succes: loosening mobo screws pulling out ram sticks and starting with one stick, trying each slot. pulling out cmos battery opening up Cpu and putting it back in flashing the bios specs i'm running on: Asus X99 AII I7 6800K Crucial Ballistix sport LT 32gb quad channel ddr4 memory Corsair RM850i EVGA GTX 1080 FTW gpu My motherboard gives a 00 q code, which from what i've read doesn't mean anything good. The DRAM Led is solid red I'm starting to think i might have fried my cpu considering i got a couple of "overclock failed" messages whilst booting the other day and choosing to ignore them. (I know, stupid decision) Any Help is welcome, I don't know what to do at this point. -
Hey guys, I am looking for a case fan for the front panel of a red themed build (case is corsair 100R). It needs to be 120mm, quiet and have red LEDs. I don't require PWM or anything fancy, but cheaper is better (as always). Some of the options I have are: Antec Truequiet 120mm Corsair AF 120mm BitFenix Spectre 120m Any suggestions? Thanks

Hello, I want to get some 80mm fans for my Mini-ITX build in the Thermaltake Core V1. There are no fans in the back, and I want to fill the back of it with 2 80mm fans. What are some good ones? I would prefer them to be black and have red LEDs, and I'm using a fan splitter, thanks for the help

I think I want a Cooler Master Quickfire Ultimate, but I can't find the one I want in stock anywhere! Not really my favorite brand or anything, just impressed with their attempts at customer service so far and thought I would try them. But if you have a similar recommendation I'd be glad to hear it! What I want: 104+ keys. Don't need more than 104 so I don't want to pay a ton extra for them but if the money is right I'd rather have more than 104 than less! Red LEDs. Yup. Red. Cherry MX Brown, second choice would be red. Ideally under US$150. More than that and we are into RGB/Chroma territory and I start shopping brands like Ducky. Last but not least, a good warranty and the customer service to stand behind it. Ideally the keyboard would last longer than the warranty, without a problem! Thanks in advance!

I'm doing a post test and my system won't post (there is no signal on the monitor) everything runs all the fans etc however their is one red led light for the CPU that permanently stays lit until the system is switched off. I have my motherboard on its case with the ram, CPU, CPU cooler and PSU (I am using onboard graphics, I have tried both graphics card and onboard both produce no signal) I was told the motherboard drivers don't meet the drivers for the CPU and that I should update my motherboard drivers but how can I do that if I just get the no signal screen? My specs are: Motherboard: ASUS SaberTooth z87 CPU: i5 4690k CPU Cooler: H100i (using stock at the moment) PSU: EVGA 750w gold (supernova) GPU: Gigabyte GTX 970

I have just got all my parts for the new computer here they are: MB: Sabertooth TUF series CPU: i5 4690k Cooler: H100i (stock at the minute) RAM: 2x 4gb corsair vengeance ddr3 GPU: GTX 780 PSU: EVGA 750w Gold I have the motherboard on its box with the ram CPU, PSU and GPU wired up. The 24 pin powering the MB is in the right place, the 2x 4pin for the CPU is in the right place and the 2x 6pin is in the GPU. I've switched around the 6pin and still no signal. I do have a red led light (CPU) permanently on while I turn on the computer. I don't have a system speaker so I can't hear the beeps it didn't come with the MB or case. I have tried switching ram taking one stick out etc. I have tried removing the CMOS battery and placing it back in. I have tried on board graphics (HDMI) as it dosnt have VGA, and still nothing. Someone suggested updating your bios to match the CPU, however how can I do that if I don't get signal on my monitor; meaning I can't get into the bios screen. Does anyone have a suggestion?

I recently picked up two 30 cm Darkside red LED strips. Promotional videos mention they are dimmable and can be connected to a fan controller. What is the best way to control case lighting? I am planning on using a NZXT Sentry Mix-2 Fan controller. However, the fan controller does not let fans turn completely off. My 5.25 bay capacity is full, but is there a good way to control case lighting from a PCI slot that include off/on, dimming features, and does not have a plethora of colorful wires? The led strips use 2 pin connectors, but included are 30 cm 2 pin to 3 pin adapter/extension. I went ahead and the questions in bold for people who don't want to read all that. Thanks, RedPanda
