I hope I'm posting this in the right place... Hi all, for context I used to be pretty active on the forum for a while, but slowed down due to personal reasons. Anyway... I am now in a place where my build is looking pretty nice, if I do say so myself. The setup may seem like I'm sacrificing some performance for aesthetics, but it does everything it needs to do for my needs. Specs are listed below, along with a picture. I'm planning on making some upgrades soon, but if you have any suggestions, please let me know! CPU Ryzen 5 3600 (Planning on upgrading to a 5600x soon, thoughts?) Cooler Corsair iCUE H100i RGB ELITE MOBO Asus ROG B550-A Gaming RAM Crucial Balistix RGB 16GB 3200Mhz (Planning on grabbing some 32GB Corsair RGB RAM on Black Friday) Storage 256GB M.2 NVME SSD 500GB M.2 NVME SSD 2TB HDD (7200rpm) GPU Nvidia 3060ti Founders Edition (Proud of this - got it right as it came out from BestBuy during one of those random drops Case Lian Li O11 Mini White PSU Lian Li SP850 Fans Corsair iCUE QL120 (9 of them, I know its stupid but they look nice) Peripherals DROP CTRL Glorious Model O Wireless (I use a magnetic USB C Cable to charge it) Glorious Mousepad Monitor Asus VG249Q Stand arm from Amazon Other Stuff Macbook for work w/ stand Airpods Little lego guy for fun Autonomous standing desk Chair from Staples I'm pretty sure I've mentioned everything involved. Here is a picture, I hope its viewable: IMG_3176.heic Please reach out with any comments / questions!

I am genuinely disappointed in how little progression has been made in UltraWide Display Tech in the past few years. More than 5 years ago, I bought my current Asus ROG 34" 3440x1440p 100Hz monitor for $699.99. Now days it seems the same money barely gets you the same features plus maybe HDR and an upgrade to 144 or 165Hz and honestly Im not sure if I even want to do it. Sure, my new Radeon RX 7900-XTX is easily blowing right by 100 FPS even at Ultra settings, usually delivering 130-140 FPS, but people forget that what your eyes see versus how the game responds are two completely separate things. Running 120+ FPS on a 100Hz monitor is slightly beneficial as the game can feel ever so slightly better and your actions have less input lag. And 100Hz is more than enough for your eyes anyways. On top of this - the ROG display is incredibly capable - even with games that run at 200 FPS and beyond, I see no screen tearing of any kind. This Asus ROG display is already an IPS 1ms response panel, the only downsides are that Im blowing by the maximum refresh rate with ease (and yes the display is already OC-ed, stock out of the box its a 90 Hz display), and this is a G-Sync only monitor so I can no longer use variable refresh rate tech. But I can enable V-Sync in games to limit FPS anyways and your eyes don't really need more than what I already have. I usually just enable a custom FPS lock of 120 and just enjoy a smooth experience at completely maxed-out Ultra-Everything Settings hardly ever seeing the FPS drop below that 120 limit. But I kinda want to upgrade just to better utilize the power of my new GPU and maybe for AMD FreeSync and possibly HDR compatibility and thats about it. As far as I can see, there are only two options currently available that fit the bill for a similar price - The LG UltraGear 34" 3440x1440 144Hz (160Hz OC) "AMD FreeSync 2.0" Nano-IPS 400 Nit Curved IPS Gaming Monitor - HDR NOT officially supported - $699.99 - BenQ EX3415R - 34" 3440x1440p 144Hz (MPRT) "AMD FreeSync Premium" HDR-400 Certified, Curved IPS Gaming Monitor - $799.99 Wow, so 5 years later and almost no progress for the price you pay. So should I just wait another 5 years and maybe eventually a decent option will show up for a decent price, or just go ahead and save for one of these options and just deal with the poor value? Of course I could sell the current monitor to make up for some of the price difference but I won't realistically get more than $250-$300 for it at best. I was genuinely expecting to find 34" IPS Panels at 3440x1400p 144Hz with HDR for under $500 considering its 5 years later and 16:9 1440p displays have already moved beyond 240Hz and you can get a 240Hz IPS 2560x1440p panel for like $300. By the way, I have no interest in 4K - and before you ask - its because yes, I am aware that there is basically ZERO improvement to the human eye going from 1440p to 4K unless your eyes are less than 18 inches from the screen on a standard-sized monitor under 50". Plus I enjoy UltraWide gaming and 4K UltraWide (5120x2160p) will probably be too much for the XTX if I want High refresh rate (which I do, I prefer at least 90 FPS and am completely happy at 120 FPS).

First thing, hello everyone I'm new to the forum so please excuse me if I don't get something right. Ok, I'll answer some questions first as suggested in the pinned post: "Build Plan Thread Recommendations" Country: I'm from Perú (South America). Budget (including currency): $2000 USD (or S/ 7400 PEN) Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Many last years releases like Hogwarts Legacy, Elden Ring, God of War Ragnarok, FFVII Remake, any Assasin's Creed, Cyberpunk 2077, and Co-Op FPS like Apex Legends, etc. I also plan to learn/use video and audio editing software like A. Premiere/Audition, Trackstion, DaVinci Resolve, etc. Other details: My last PC was a Core i5 8th gen, Asus Prime b360-m motherboard, Asus RX 560 EVO GPU, and 16GB DDR4 RAM, etc. The only things I'll keep are my 2 or 3 HDDs (4TB, 1TB, 512GB) and a single SSD (128GB). Also have a couple of basic monitors both 75Hz 24" (one with widescreen is currently in technical service, idk if it'll survive). And mouse and headphones: (Razer Viper Mini and Hyperx Cloud Stinger S). My goal is to be able to play at 1440p and 144Hz. So, with that answered, I'll give you some other details. This is what I'm building. It is the first time I'm building a PC by myself and currently, I'm buying part by part as soon as the prices drop to my desired price range. This is the new PC: - Motherboard: Gigabyte z690 Aorus Elite AX DDR5 - $235 (bought) - CPU: Intel Core-i5 12600k - $230 (bought) - GPU: PowerColor Red Devil RX 6650 XT - $465 (bought) - Cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assasin 120 SE ARGB White - $60 (bought) - Memory: G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB Series 32GB (2 x 16) 6000 MHz - $130 - Storage: 3 HDD (4TB, 1TB, 512GB*) and 1 SSD (128GB) (own) *If possible I'll drop the 512 one and buy a 2TB M.2 later. (~$130) - PSU: Corsair RM850x Shift* - $200 *I could probably buy the RM1000x Shift if its price drops a little (~$230), what do you think? - Peripherals: Keyboard Logitech G413, Mouse Razer Viper Mini, Headphones Hyperx Cloud Stinger S. (own, except the keyboard, gonna buy it soon) - Others: x5 12mm Case Fans - $30 (better having some than none) - Monitor: Gigabyte G27QC A (-SA) 27" 2K 165Hz 1ms - $290 - OS: Windows 11 Pro - $20 (/w Office +$30)(~$50) And about the cases, I can't decide on one of these three: - Corsair 5000D Airflow WHITE (not really into white cases) for $115 (+ $10-15 shipping fee) - Lian Li Lancool 216 RGB BLACK Steel (with Fan controller) for $190 (includes international shipping) - Corsair 7000D Airflow BLACK (Full tower) for $182 (+$10-15 shipping fee) **The prices I wrote include international shipping (for most things) and for those over $200 (without shipping), it also includes the ~22% customs tax (over everything in the order including fees). As you may have noticed, I can buy both Corsair cases in my country, Peru, just need to pay a shipping fee for another city. And about the Lian Li, I can order it through a web called "tiendamia" and that price includes everything. My initial idea was to buy just the Corsair 4000D Airflow Black for $89 (same store as the other 2) but it ran out of stock before I could order one and there's no estimated date for restocking (if they ever do it). A shame nobody in my country sells the Lancool 216 so I would have to import it (and damn monitors and cases have way too high shipping fees). So far I still need to spend around $1K, so yeah, I'm halfway there. Please let me know if there's something you think I should check or change. So, in advance, I'm grateful for all your opinions and support. PS: Damn, I'm pretty sure that if the store had the 5000D Airflow Black I wouldn't have to think much about it. Btw, as far as I know, everything should fit inside a mid-tower, right? I'm reposting because there was missing info and some things weren't clear enough.

Open to other options. I run a dual monitor setup both 1080p For gaming I like a lot of RPG, MMO games (RuneScape, SWTOR, Star Trek Online) as well as RTS like the Total War Series (Napoleon, Empire, Shogun 2, Rome and Warhammer), Ultimate General, and Turn-Based strategy/ Base Building Games. I was playing GTA and noticed that my refresh rate was locked at 60, so I was tampering with all the settings to get back up to 144. I switched back into GTA only for my pc to freeze, so I shut it down and waited to deal with it in the morning, morning comes around Windows wont even boot, it says there is an issue and needs to restart and just keeps taking me to the same old choose an option to boot my pc, but nothing works. I tried putting the cable into my mobo slot instead, taking my GPU out, running a different monitor but windows wont boot. Linux works fine, but I really don't want to reinstall windows and I tried restoring it but that didn't work either. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

So im in the process of upgrading my rig and installing my custom water loop. Ive taken lots of pics of my progress so far. I'll let you guys gues/identify the parts ive used and then i'll tell you what it actually includes.
-
Note: this isn't newly built, I was simply opening it up for maintainence, the initial build was in late July of this year. Not to confuse you though, all the parts were brand new out of the box, it's been a beast this whole time! It really likes running games, and browsing is a breeze. Parts are in my signature.
