High fidelity is ruining games. The last game I played that impressed with high fidelity was the original Crysis from 2007. After watching this video For a while now I've held the belief that the push graphics is destroying game. Video cards with heat sinks so heavy and bulky that it will tear itself apart unless braced properly, photo realistic looking games that only look 10% better than what they did 10 years ago, long load times limited physics, low frame rates. I am so sick of seeing these boring lifeless realistic games that I have been looking towards retro and indie games just to escape the homogenized mess. Here's a good video on the subject This was more of a rant, but years ago I used to look forward to the latest tech. Now I dread it. I'm going to go and play some Unreal Tournament. It's like Fortnight but good. I was inspired to make this post after watching Luke and Linus talk about DLSS and how the industry might be moving away from native res. If Nintendo can make games look good on a toaster than we really gotta stop with the excuses.

I really enjoy Linus' enthusiasm for the store, and I don't mind that it dominates the WAN Show runtime. But it really bothers me there are constantly so many little things that make the store seem like an afterthought. I was checking out the Noctua Edition screwdriver and I couldn't help notice that the Brown color option... is in no way brown. Being an insane person, I took a screenshot of the webpage and used Photoshop's eyedropper tool to double check if my eyes were playing tricks on me. Just a pointless rant. I randomly remembered Linus being bothered by the color of the orange JerryRig Razor knife in the store photos and then this really stuck out to me.

Hi all, Let me preface this by saying that I got this Laptop for free from my girlfriends dad after the included hdd broke. I took it to save an otherwise perfectly intact device from a landfill and intended to use it in bed to watch netflix/youtube videos, as well as do some webbrowsing and schoolwork. I thought that a laptop oriented towards business clients would definitely be capable of these basic tasks and was originally quite happy with the idea to finally have a larger-than-smartphone sized display available for me to watch movies on without getting out of bed. As soon as I had completed my install of windows 10 and all of the necessary drivers I immediately noticed that the laptop was noticeably slow, even while only adjusting settings and having a single chrome tab open. The CPU is persistently pinned at around 90 percent utilization while watching a youtube video and every single interaction with the device is either noticeably laggy or annoyingly doesn't register at all. I know full well that I am not in a position to complain seeing that I am not a paying customer, but I can't help but despise Lenovo for even producing these hunks of e-waste. Marketing these laptops as targeted at basic business use is incredibly disingenuous to me if the product can't even browse the web free of lag. The feeling of trying to scroll down in an online article while daring to have a single tab open in the background is only barely preferrable to having a root canal done, it's painfully, frustratingly slow. A sidenote, the thing was launched in the fourth quarter of 2019! It should still be perfectly usable, my old laptop is still fine for its intended purpose and it's almost 2 years older than this hunk of trash. Honestly, I think producing shit like this that is bound to become e-waste within at most two years should not be acceptable. Anyways, thanks for bearing with me, have a nice day.

I do disagree with luke here, yes when it comes to the mask of N95 and razor. That was overall something that shouldn't have been done, unless it was reviewed quite carefully but still could lead to lawsuits over such products. But when luke said, when beer companies went for hand disinfection products that this was not the same? is where I disagree with, and there was some cases against these products of causing cancer due to, cleaning issues in the manufacturing from their previous produced products. That rushing to these kind of trends, are not great and can be harmful. https://www.fda.gov/drugs/drug-safety-and-availability/fda-updates-hand-sanitizers-consumers-should-not-use

Hi guys! I am looking for a laptop to replace my Lenovo y50-70 since it's brokey (screen doesn't work, battery lasts very short, deck broken etc...) I wanted a suggestion from you all and wanted to do a side rant a bit! What I would love to have is a laptop with a 100%srgb at least screen (would love to get 16:10) since I have started editing my photos etc. The screen resolution would be nice at more than 1080p and for size I was thinking about 15.6'' or 16''. As for the rest cpu I am not sure if Amd or Intel is a better option!(multicores and battery life vs thunderbolt and single core perf) I would be doing also some light video editing such as 1080p (MAYBE 4k in the future?) without many effects, just color grading with lumetri on Adobe premiere. I would be doing also some basic audio editing since I am a musician. For the storage I have seen that it's very unlikely I will get the 1tb that I had before. Lastly with a non gamery cheap design Budget around 1000€ My researches have told me that such laptop almost does not exists! My ideal pc would be the Msi GS66 stealth but that's waaaay overbudget! I looked at the lenovo legion 5 and it could be an interesting option but I would also like to have some other opinions! RANT: I feel like laptop have become less and less interesting over the time! I would love a thin and light but the prices are way too expensive with a drop in display sizes(many 13'' or 14''). Another absurd aspect I have noticed is that those sizes are the one that get higher display resolution. I have seen plenty of them with 1440p resolution wherease the 15.6'' keep their FHD displays. Not to talk about the high refresh rate with a junk color gamut or super color gamut with a jank refresh rate. Do people really need more than 144hz on a laptop? I know innovation is cool etc but no middleground seems like a stupid idea. I have seen only 1 screen that could be cool 165hz, 100%rgb, 16:10, 2160x1600 of the legion... I know there is also a shortage on gpus but their model name and performance are just a nightmare! 1050-1650 - 1650ti max q- 1660ti max q- 2060 and 2060 maxq - 3050ti - 3060 with more or less vram and wattage (also why is a 1650ti newer than a 1660ti?). Their design language where they put just red accents on the pc or stupid rgb everywhere. Also the IO on the back of a laptop, like the legion 5... why do you even think about that's a good idea? I may have been stupid or whatever but the braided cable of my logitech g504 got melted because of the (way) too high temperature of my laptop... why shouldn't a usb stick right next to the vent do the same? Moreover I know people need power etc but why would ANYONE want a laptop that at full load cannot be recharged when plugged in? or why would anyone want to go around with a legion 5 with a freaking 300w charger for a laptop? where is the portability side? What about the super small batteries(also paired sometime with 4k displays)? Why are companies ditching sd card reader for micro sd reader? WHO uses that card for their cameras or whatever else? They should either offer it or ditch it adding a thunderbolt port... Also Asus g14 without a webcam? WHY I don't know you all guys but I fell like 1000€ is not that cheap of laptop and you can find just beginner stuff that are either ugly but ok or beautiful but useless... I know they want to push the consumer to buy always the more expensive one.... Now as Linus says it's not worth it to just criticise so here you go my ideal pc: CPU:4c/8t - 6c/12t intel or amd GPU: (new naming order) 1660ti 6gb - 2060 6gb Display: 2160*1600, 120hz/144hz, 100% Adobe Rgb, 16:10 aspect ratio, IPS (or microled :P) Ram: 16gb ram SSD: 512gb-1 Tb Min Battery: 80Wh min IO: 2 usb 3.2 type A ; 2-3 type c with at least 2 power delivery and 1-2 thunderbolt 3 or usb4(if not higher) ; sd-card reader would be top; 1080p camera Design: like the dell xps or the razer, could be thicker for proper cooling and batteries, not exceeding 2.5kg though Price: 1000-1500€ I know some of the specs are just plain dream right now but something could be a bit downsized or thought over Thanks for the patience! Feel free to make any suggestion, modification to my "ideal" laptop

This whole thing was (probably) due to some technical issues, I didn't see the video on FP at all, until some ten minutes ago, it's slighty redundant now, but if you want to read it, read it. What remains, for me at least, is some sort of explaination for the release schedule, on YT/FP. I haven't found an official answer to this, all I've seen is people complaining. If you found said needle in the haystack, please let me know.

I don't understand this. When I try to download a game from the Xbox app (using game pass PC) I am prompted to select my C drive which is an internal SSD or my D drive which is an external HDD. The problem is that I can only choose ONE DRIVE to download ALL of my apps on. So I can either download my apps on my small laptop SSD or my external HDD. Is there a workaround for this?

Like, look at this. Why do they combine a powerhouse cpu with a weak gpu. And only 8gb of ram and no ssd. Plus, their cases have terrible airflow and their motherboards and powersupplies have awful quality. And they advertise high speed gaming performance, like, with that gpu, i wouldn't say "high speed gaming performance" well, maybe in indie games idk. Why are they doing this to innocent consumers who dont know what a godawful pc they're actually getting for the price their paying.

I am building a new pc and those parts are needed for the pc to boot and now I will probably have to wait more time, Thanks amazon p.s: no i do not live in the us so this is gonna take a while to arrive i should of gotten it from newegg....

Black Friday 2019 I was preparing for college and I excitedly purchased a Razer Blade 2019 Adv 15" for $2,554.59 post tax. This was my first experience with a full fledged gaming laptop but I knew about the heat issues that come with a small form factor laptop. Because I was going to college and I NEEDED this laptop to last for a couple of years, I undervolted my CPU and GPU to make it last as long as possible. Here is a list of my troubles. Screen flickering issues: sent into Razer for RMA and had a screen replaced After receiving my device, a week later, same issue began. I "fixed" this by limiting the frame rate of my screen. A few months later, my trackpad began to act up. Clicking was no longer tactile and satisfying, felt like a $500 dollar laptop, not a $2500 one. A few weeks later, my a key began to act up, the feeling was extremely soft and would require barely any force to be depressed. A few weeks later, my laptop battery swells up to a point where the razer support people told me to immediately stop using the device for fear of bodily harm and an explosion. Sent into Razer for RMA and the device came back with paint chipped off the edge of the screen. Now, I purchased an XMP capable DDR4 3200MHz set of 2x16GB ram but the computer will freeze and crash after two hours and no XMP profile shows up in the bios. Yes my bios is updated to the latest version. This is by no means me getting annoyed at those lovely men and women on the reddit or at the razer call center. They have been 100% professional and helpful all the way through. I am however extremely disappointed at the workmanship of a $2500+ laptop. Quite frankly, I'm so frustrated I'm almost have the audacity to ask for a one year in. Maybe this is a one off thing but damn...

TLDR I honestly wanted to really like this laptop. Specs are great, build quality is great, huge fan of the replaceable battery, RAM, and SSD. Defiantly not a huge fan of all the stability issues it has. Has anyone else been experiencing similar issues with their XPS 9570 or similar devices here on the LTT forums? I noticed many people share the same complaints on reddit and Dell forums? I had my Dell XPS 9570 for about half a year now. I purchased it after hearing many YouTube reviewers and online sources raving about how good this laptop is. Having an i7-8750H, upgradable DDR4, upgradable M.2, dedicated GPU, incredible 4k display, all in a reasonable sized and well built chassis quite possibly makes the perfect laptop. But sadly I was not aware of the bad side of the 9570, mainly stability issues. I have been experiencing multiple daily random reboots (sometimes BSODs or just a black screen and reboot). Sometimes I would get up to five random reboots in a row. It would even randomly reboot when just sitting idle on the Windows desktop. It doesn't matter if it is on-battery or plugged-in. Event Viewer lists these sources when it happens: - volmgr - Distributed COM - Kernal-Boot Sleep is absolute trash on this laptop. When I closed the lid putting the laptop to sleep at night, it would turn back on at 3AM with the fans at 100% and almost boiling to the touch. Had the same scenario happen twice in my backpack. Took it out of the backpack, fans 100%, so hot it might literally catch fire. Obviously because no airflow in the backpack. Sleep somewhat worked best when I disabled "Modern Standby" in the Registry. But then it completely broke again when Microsoft got rid of the disable "Modern Standby" Registry entry in Windows 10 v. 2004. I just gave up on using sleep and started using hibernation. Hibernation works better than using sleep but there are still some hiccups when using that. I had three cases where the laptop would simply just not turn on. Plugged in or un-plugged just simply would not turn on. The battery was about 50% charged according to the battery level indicator lights on the right side of the laptop. I had to open the laptop, disconnect and reconnect the battery to force reset it. Then it turned on. The first time this happened I was in away at school with no access to a decent Torx screwdriver to pop the bottom case open. I was stuck without a laptop for two days. Now I just carry a Torx screwdriver in my backpack because I expect the problem to return in the future. The Dell XPS was suppose to be the flagship Windows laptop and it better be given its price point. Back in 2018, I would be furious if I paid ~$2000 for a laptop that doesn't sleep and randomly reboots. I am giving up on it and probably going to sell it. Thinking of buying a ThinkPad T470 or T480 as a replacement for now. I have done a lot of troubleshooting all not fixing the problem: - Reinstalling Windows using Dell OEM Recovery Media - Reinstalling Windows using Windows Media Creation Tool - Using Dell drivers from website - Letting Windows Updates install drivers on its own - Using NVIDIA drivers from NVIDIA's website - Using NVIDIA drivers from Dell's website - Disabling C-States in BIOS - Replacing RAM and SSD - Reset BIOS and updated to latest revision - Tried Ubuntu and Solus for a while (random shutdowns gone but still sleep issues) - unfortunately I cannot use Linux as I use the Adobe Suite along with some applications that are only on Windows All combinations still resulted in stability issues and sleep issues.

"Japanese quality" they said. "20-million" clicks they said. F*ck Omron and everyone that is implementing that junk into their mice. I've owned the following mice; Razer DeathAdder Mionix Naos 7000 Corsair Glaive and each one of them had the same problem: The left mouse button would fail and start double clicking or not registering a click. Now my Logitech G403 is doing the same. I bought the mouse on the 19th of January - THIS YEAR After the second mouse I thought - oh well, maybe it's me. Maybe I'm too harsh to them, but to be honest I was a fool for thinking that. Of course it wasn't me. I've babied the G403 and I have mostly played Cities: Skylines and single-player games that don't require a lot of clicking and yet it failed, just like all my other mice with Omron switches. My first DeathAdder did not have that problem, even tho back then I was literally smashing the thing to pieces in Modern Warfare 3 - especially because I was playing a lot of USP.45 with silencer (got a good trigger finger and it runs faster than an MP7). How is this even possible? My theory is that Omron is full of sh*t. Just like the mice manufacturers. There's no wonder companies like Bloody went to developing their own optical switches. I'll return this motherf*cking pile of plastic garbage tomorrow and get a new one. The exact same one again. Just to prove a point. F*ck you Logitech and all the others too. Does anyone know of a good tool to measure the amount of clicks? I'll let that run and see if I actually exceed the 20 million or not this time! btw. thanks for letting me blow off some steam. in return I was so nice to put little stars into each curse word.

A right to repair act in the EU would be worthless if the EU won't hold companies accountable even if they're blatantly breaking the act. The EU is currently going after Apple for limiting acces to NFC payment technology on the iphone, but that's not the only way that apple's anticompetitive behaviour is against EU law. Article 102 of the the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union states that "Any abuse by one or more undertakings of a dominant position within the internal market or in a substantial part of it shall be prohibited as incompatible with the internal market in so far as it may affect trade between Member States." which is broken by the implimentation of apples software lock on hardware and the lack of available schematics for independant repair shops. the software lock in and of itself breaches article 102 at least according to the examples set by the EU: a) directly or indirectly imposing unfair purchase or selling prices or other unfair trading conditions; b) limiting production, markets or technical development to the prejudice of consumers; and c) applying dissimilar conditions to equivalent transactions with other trading parties, thereby placing them at a competitive disadvantage. The fact that the EU hasn't forced apple to remove the software lock on iphones and to release repair schematics and make parts available for purchase for third party repair shops just shows that the EU probably wouldn't enforce a right to repair treaty as they have shown they don't care for protecting independant repair shops or they at least care more about NFC transactions source for article 102 https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/HTML/?uri=CELEX%3A12008E102 I also haven't gotten into how article 101 is being violated as well but reading this and looking at article 101 should be enough to understand that the software lock on Iphones is also a violation of the article

rant What I find really annoying and very anti-consumer, is all the bad labels or marketing. if using only buzz words but nothing for meaningful spec labels. As you might have a family of products with the same stupid labels, but have way different features or functions. (like maybe standard keyboard, one is fully ARGB, while another one might have hotswap buttons). To labels/tags used by the brand that means nothing for the consumer or all brands have a similar feature under different names. (or different enough to market as something else). If it be like XMP and DOCP, many might not have a version number so you dont know what a newer label means vs the older one etc. what laels or products have you been confused by, from labeling or marketing to other reasons.

So as the Title spells out for you all this is me going off on a wobbly over Fortnite, This fairly new Battle Royale game made from Epic games. Now I have many things to give off to epic games about this games system etc but firstly brief intro on the game. Fortnite is a Game which has two modes save the world and 'Battle Royale'. I'll be Ranting on the Battle Royale aspect of the game which is a 100 player island survival and who every is last standing get to be lonely on a island that is not destroyed by giant towers, half destroyed buildings and no way to escape a storm which surrounds it. So my issues with this game dominantly comes from two aspects the Building and the Guns. Going off on the guns it removes a high part of Skill from the game as the better the weapon the higher the damage it outputs per shot. This means if your in the end zone with a grey weapon you may as well turn the barrel and end yourself as it ain't gonna be easy. So to me I don't like the aspect that one of the key aspects in winning is getting a higher coloured weapon instead of skill. Upon other things the Weapons have this really odd RNG bullet recognition damage system I assume, Where you can hit someone point blank range and get a measly 8 dmg show up from a shotgun, which is completely absurd due to the fact the guns already have increasing damage based on the colour of said weapon why add in a RNG bullet which is like, "hey 8 dmg you know that your dead now because of that measly 8 dmg" . Anyway other than those areas the gun play is good I do enjoy the gun play when engaging players from time to time. Coming onto the other Rant topic would have to be the building, And no before people say just get better at building it isn't that aspect. I Don't like the building because it leaves players to not plan out their movement as much and just run from point A - B as the bird flies. Which is basically because you can just run and as once you get shot at or hit you just build 4 walls and a ramp to bunker down.... which just to me kills to strategy aspect of the game when solo because how are you meant to plain going against a player doing that if your low on ammo? Like you can't waist shots on him and then he gets the advantage as he can peek you without being too out of cover. Only option is to do the same of fuck off away from the dude. Soo yeah the building is a good concept to the game but at the same time removes some skills that could be used if without it. (I know this would just make is a cartoon Battle Royale without its own spin off). Finally the last thing that just get me soo annoyed In the game and doesn't really affect me would have to be the constant Adding of Content to a basic game mode. Like I know other companies do this for their games but no where near as often as this. Like since Fortnite Battle Royale launched it has had a Chain gun, Crossbow, impulse grenade, boogie bomb, Hunting rifle, Homing Rocket, Hand Cannon, InstaFort and other if I have missed any within a short span. The fact that Fortnite needs to keep bringing out content to have people enjoy it kind of begs the question, Does the players play Fortnite for the base game or for the new gear, Skins, cosmetics and loot that you can acquire via money or via finding in game for the match. Like I'm only basing this off what I know, People who still play PUBG only have packs to get clothing and even then it doesn't control the game and why people play it. yet for me it looks like the skins n all is why people play Fortnite which is fine, if you like wasting money on making a nice looking character that will eventually be abandoned because it is no longer the craze. So to summarize this I would have to say why do people play this game? Is it for the Actual gameplay or for the cosmetics and gear you get? What would make me enjoy this game as the shitty player I am? Well if the Bullet damage was static meaning depending on range it will do said damage in this body area and none of this hey 8 damage at close range bs with the Shotguns, That and well just cleaning up the game give players other play styles than build n hide or build and run. So that's the end of my Fortnite Rant that was fuelled by the rage of getting the damn 8 dmg pump hit markers in yesterdays game.... Please feel free to leave your feedback or toxic hate of my view on the game. As I said it is only my opinion others could agree of disagree on it.

The PC Hardware Debate (From My Point of View)
Marinatall_Ironside posted a blog entry in JurunceNK's Blog
This is going to be one of those rants from my perspective, based on a conversation I had with friends and family two nights ago (1 August, 2015). Names of the people involved will remain confidential. Don't ask for names. My take on this debate is with PC hardware and their choices. As you may have realized at some point, I actually love high-end, enthusiast-class hardware configurations (though not ones that are absolutely nuts and stupid like The Compensator build log they did) and many think that such configurations will not last long whatsoever and you must upgrade every year. Now this is where my view on this whole thing comes in. Absolutely NOTHING lasts long, regardless of how much you pay for it, whether it's $1,500 or in excess of $5,000 (Just the tower). It's you that says when to upgrade, not Nvidia, or Intel, or AMD. No one has any say on when to upgrade but YOU! You're the one in control of your system. You decide how long you want your system configuration to last. And no one agreed, and I was like what the hell guys? Now I agree with Linus and the community that paying anywhere from $1,500-$1,800 will yield a better value in the long run, but however, not everyone would want to spend that much on a system. And that's okay, as long as you're happy with the system, you're good to go. On the subject of how long the individual systems will last will depend on whether you're buying the latest AAA games or not and whether you're playing at 4K resolution or not, but ultimately it's you that decides. If you're playing last year's AAA games like Crysis 3 or Tomb Raider (2013) or if you're playing a game like ARMA 3 (released 2013-2014), then you can make your system last years on end before you have to upgrade to something new. But if you're playing mainstream titles or e-Sports titles like League of Legends, Heroes of the Storm, DOTA, StarCraft II, Team Fortress 2, CS:GO, or even World of Warcraft, you can get away with much less, even at 4K like what Linus demonstrated with the $1,000 4K AMD gaming machine. But if you want the enthusiast-class machine, then go for it. No one is going to stop you, not even me. But I would question your hardware selection if it's absolutely nuts, silly, and nothing more than a way to shovel your money away (The Compensator anyone?) Now the challenge that I'm going to take and that anyone else would like to participate in is for every $1,000 you spend on the tower equals 1 year. For my near $6,400 gaming computer, I will make it last 6 years and 4 months to get the full value out of it. Am I going to resell it? No. But let's face it. PC hardware won't last long from a technological standpoint, but physically they will last. The GeForce GTX Titan X will last around a few years at the maximum due to its massive 12GB GDDR5 video memory, but the GeForce GTX 970 and the 980 will show its age within the next few months due to their 4GB (3.5GB + 512MB for the 970) video RAM. CPUs can in fact, last a really long time. That Intel Core i7-3970X is still standing quite well to this day, even the ancient Intel Core i7-2600K processor is going well too. The whole point is that previous hardware is still supported and it's still relative today and it will last you another year or so before you have to upgrade your hardware to something new. Also with Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge motherboards, they all still support PCIe Gen. 3, so that means you can quite frankly install any GeForce 900 series and AMD Rx 300 series of GPUs because they're all PCIe 3.0, they're still supported for about 2 more years until PCIe 4.0. What I'm trying to get at is that you don't have to upgrade every freaking year guys. You don't have to regardless of how much you pay for, though higher end hardware tends to last longer in terms of performance later in the future, even though they are last generation products. It's better if you get the full value of your system if you maintain it well for almost several years. It has happened before with midrange and world-class systems before, though I don't know of anyone owning a high-end system for that long and if anything, I'll be the first to perform this incredible feat with a $6,400 computer and I will have all the bragging rights I want. And it has been done before. And I will be the first to pull it off with an expensive gaming rig that I'm aware of. What I'm promoting here is if you're wanting to buy some expensive rig like me, make it last longer than one year to get the full value for how much you spend on it. That's why my rule of thumb is for every $1,000 you spend on a rig worth $3,000+ equals one year you keep that rig as is at the time of purchase because those configurations actually last much longer than what most people think, from CPUs to GPUs, especially GPUs with large amounts of video RAM. I know from a technological standpoint that they last one year, but physically and realistically lasts much longer, even when its microarchitecture has expired. Nvidia and AMD will still support them through driver updates, so they'll still be relative for years to come. So long story short: If you plan on spending $3,000 or more, make it last 3 years or more. You are the one in control of your system. It's solely you that says when to upgrade. Good Day, Everyone! The art of writing and the science of technology are seemingly devoid of similarities. A "Liberal Arts Major" is viewed as a fluffy bigwig with no ability to do anything practical by STEM majors, and an Engineer is considered a no-life sexually repressed nerd with social skills that can be summed up with a bad pun by the Lit/Art/History crowd. Essentially, this type of blog is, according to "Educated Folks", an impossibility. Well, hold on now, lets slow down and cover a few basics. This little experiment is an attempt to discuss involved computing hardware (and occasionally software) topics with a high standard of writing. Good writing is difficult; good tech writing is unheard of. Sorry, CNet, but lets face it: tech journalism sucks. Either the journalist has no idea what he is writing about, or the Engineer has no idea what writing itself is about. And how, dear reader, do I differ? Well, I'd say that I've been a "techie" since a very young age: I could manipulate a mouse before I could type. I'd also mention how writing is a later development—albeit an intensive one. Currently, I pursue dual Computer Science and Literature Majors. Yes, I've been told this is an incredibly daft idea. I cannot promise anything better, but I will try for different. Because, occasionally, different is synonymous to better. So here goes. Wish me luck? Q.

So essentially, I have an Xbox One that I occasionally use, the same one that I've used for almost six years now, and the most recent time I tried to sign in, it wouldn't let me. Entered my security pin, says I need a password. Entered my password, says I need to confirm with an email. No big deal, except my recover email is also dead. Enter in my new email, password again, and complete the captcha. Receive the recovery email, enter the security code. Tells me that is suspicious activity and locks my account altogether until they can 'verify my identity'. Again, this is all completely out of nowhere, have barely used this account in the past two years or so, just tried playing some xbox like normal and they lock my account. So I go to the recovery form website, enter my email, password, full name, post code, etc. etc. Complete another captcha, say that I use xbox. Enter my xbox username, and xbox network device ID. Enter part of my card details to confirm identity. End of the form, they send me another email, telling me that the information was not sufficient enough to confirm my identity and ask me to start the process all over again. I have gone through this entire process at least five times in the past two weeks, absolutely nothing has changed. Most frustrating and unacceptable of all is that because they locked my account 'for my own security', I can't access any of the xbox live or game pass features that I am still paying for using the same xbox I have used for the past six years. Even worse, is that again, because they blocked my account, I can't even cancel the subscriptions. So far I've been using an alternative email and an alternative microsoft account to play on my xbox, but I can't access any of my subscriptions on that account because of course they aren't linked because one is blocked. Tried everything short of actually waiting on hold for however long with microsoft support because I imagine the wait times will be even worse in Australia than the rest of the world. If anyone has any idea on how to fix this please let me know, if not, please spread this story, because again, I have done absolutely nothing to warrant this, it is entirely a gross incompetence on microsoft's part, for first creating the problem and then not even creating a genuine way to fix it. I fear this could happen to other people who simply stop using their recovery email, and if microsoft is doing this unintentionally, we need to bring their attention to it now.

Hi! I am a 13 year old kid who just bought a HP computer from their website. Everything was working just fine and then everything came crashing down. The RX 5500 in the PC would no longer boot when a driver was present. I figured out that the GPU was dead and tried to contact HP. Well there is no fucking way to contact them on their page. It just silently tells you to go fuck yourself while it shows you a "community support". I cannot get in contact with a real living breathing human from HP. So I do the logical thing and submit an exchange order. I am happy that I can return the defective PC and get a new one. Well 2 days later Mr.Asshat decides to reply back and say. Well we can't really do anything about it so just contact support. THEY FUCKING REFUSED TO EXCHANGE A DEFECTIVE PC AFTER 1 MONTH OF USE. At this point I was about to loose my shit. I check the return page and I can't even return it anymore since it has been like 2 days after the 30 day limit. If anyone has any ways to help pls tell me. Thanks, JiminJungKook

Microsoft has gone too far… As I am sitting on my couch and furiously typing this on my laptop, my desktop is being reset. Why? Because of Microsoft’s idiotic decision to make Windows 11 automatically sync THE ENTIRE F#@$%&# DESKTOP with OneDrive upon setup of the computer. Now before you tell me I should have gone into OneDrive and turned off the option to sync everything before uninstalling. (which you would be correct), I would like to provide some backstory. The time was 12:00 pm on a Tuesday afternoon. The sky was clear and the air was brisk, my dog was moving with excitement as she knew we would soon go to the dog park. Before we did leave however, I decided to factory reset my desktop. The reason being is that I wanted to turn it into a full development environment for myself as I have been learning website/webapp development (I like that new desktop feel from resetting). I let the process run, and before I knew it I was on the setup screen. I swiftly went through and disabled data collection and set up the pc for use. After that I felt confident that I could load all the software and files I need on the computer and left for the dog park. Later when I returned, everything was set up nicely. I then decided to go through the system and delete some of Microsoft’s lovely bloatware like I always do. This was including the uninstall of OneDrive. Upon doing so, everything seemed pretty normal. I then rebooted my PC and logged in. Immediately I noticed something was off. None of the software was opening, my files were gone, and upon opening the file explorer, my documents shortcut, desktop shortcut, music shortcut, photos shortcut etc… WERE GONE. I was slightly frustrated so I decided to do a little digging. I went into my system files, went to users, and then clicked my account. The shortcuts were there in the users folder! I was so relieved. Upon discovering this I went to open the documents shortcut. I clicked it and…. Nothing. “Okay, that’s odd.” I thought, and went to open the desktop shortcut, and again, nothing. At this point I was furious, I did more digging and found that these were all linked to the OneDrive directory, WHICH I UNINSTALLED. At this point I was ready to go. Go where you might ask? Well thanks for asking! I simply was ready to go shove my desktop and peripherals right up Microsoft’s @$$. In conclusion I ended up just saying fuck it and resetting the entire PC again. I did not want to take the time to reconfigure and set up new file paths for everything. At least I know I won’t make this mistake again. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk. Sincerely, A random Stranger who needed to vent.

Hi everyone, Sorry for this rant post. I am a casual gamer who games 1-2 hours each week, so I bought a Xbox Series S in November 2020. Unfortunately, while the Xbox was plugged into a surge protected power bar it would not turn on one day. Took it to repair shop (uBreakIFix, was told by microsoft to go there) and got it checked. They told me the 5 Amp fuse is broken and there is a shot in the motherboard. All in all it cost me CAD 180 to get it fixed. It was a frustrating experience for me as it was my first console I ever bought and I used it so less before it got damaged ( I was also away for 6 months in which it was packed up and put into a box). Anyone else has similar experience in the past ? Are there any steps I can take to prevent this in the future (example getting a highly rated surge protector bar or plugging into wall directly ). Thanks and Happy Holidays !

As many others here, I do have some frustration over the slow backpack rollout. Especially since I am wave 1 (I confirmed with LTT support that my order is 1st wave). I cannot imagine how long wave 2 through n has to wait. But here is an idea of how long this has been underway. The timeline is as such: Ordered the backpack and a WAN Hoodie on August 4th, at 1:15 AM Danish Time (CET) The Hoodie was on its way on the 10th of August Received the Hoodie on the 26th of August (about the time expected for shipping) Received an Email about Backpack delays on the 19th of September. I received an email on the 14th of October that my Backpack is on the way. And that's the last I've heard of it. Since then DHL has updated their tracker like this: Today we write November 9th. That means for 16 days, as of today (and likely counting), I have not heard a single word about the backpack that I paid Around 400 dollars for, including shipping and taxes (and likely more to come once it hits Denmark and I have to pay toll and VAT). Now I don't blame LTT for the delays. They were not in control of any of that and I'd advise others to not be mad at LTT for that. But given that the hoodie took 16 days to get from Shipping to my Doorstep, and this item so far has taken 27 days, to still *not even leaving* Canada, I am getting kind of upset now. Your website states 14-28 day delivery, but I'm willing to bet it will not be here tomorrow given the DHL Trackers current status.. So I guess this is all a bit of venting but also a bit of insight into a wave 1 buyer who is still waiting for their item to even be close to arriving.

I found LTTs video I bought a SECOND GPU… but NOT for gaming… a couple weeks back and I was sold on the idea of getting better performance out of my recording software through AV1 encoding. I took the video at face value and bought an A380 for the cheap performance boost. I even invested in a new case, cpu cooler and fans because I thought the extra heat added by a 2nd gpu would be my only issue. I was way off. Before I go any further I wanna point out that this was completely my fault. I didnt do any further research on whether duel mismatched gpu's would even work; I knew just enough about it to gain the false confidence that I knew enough. But on the other hand, that video was presented in a very misleading way. I fell for it and I like to think I know a good amount; this is my 6th pc build and Ive been troubleshooting microsofts fucky wucky shit for years. So there must be other people that know less then I do, who were probably also mislead. When the video showed linus putting the a mismatched card into the second gpu slot juxtaposed with performance boosts and amazing graphs, my monkey brain did not second guess it. So yeah after double checking my chipset, psu and cpu could handle another gpu; I spent an an entire afternoon taking my pc apart and putting it back together, just to be disappointed that it didn't work the way I thought It would. While learning that the tiny amount of support I thought existed for a duel gpu setup, was actually nonexistent. Ive looked through every possible benefit and use case for a setup like this and there's just nothing. (I did find that it could drive my second monitor but not really bc windows dwm is dumb) I guess the point of me writing this is to, 1) Vent my frustration. 2) Maybe make someone feel better about themselves.

https://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/nvidia-is-rtx-washing-our-favorite-games/ This guy is acting like with the release of portal rtx, the og portal is just going to disappear, the point of the rtx remixed games like portal and quake was not in any way to make a new game, it was to test the limits of what could be done with really aged games to make them look modern, there was no intention of replacement, just simply providing alternatives.
