Hello guys, fist of all, yes I know a single 2 TB NVMe would be better, but I still have 2 lying around, so I want to use it in my new build for Game-Storage, until I upgrade to probably a 4TB NVMe (KC3000, SN850X or something like that). So I have old 2x 1TB NVMe and one 500GB NVMe drives, which I plan on using on my new AM5 build on an ASUS X670E-E Gaming Board. 512GB NVMe as OS Drive (Chipset Lanes) 1x1TB NVMe RAID 0 as Game Storage (CPU Lanes) The question is, if I should create the RAID in BIOS (AMD Raid) or in Windows Storage Spaces (Stripe). I googled a bit but have only found forum threads that go like: Q: What is better AMD or Windows Raid 0? A: Raid 0 is trash, dont use it Q: But I still have the drives, that way I dont need to buy anything new and as its only Game-Files stored on there, it does not matter if the RAID dies. Could you help me? A: F**k you (Yes that is obviously overdramatized, but you get the gist) Thank you for reading!

I curently got an SSD and one 1 TB 64 MB cache HDD but i got another 1TB hdd 32 MB cache for free. I only care about speed as the drive will only be used to play games. I was thinking about making raid 0 as i heard it will improve speed but i come across you can use ur bios or windows to make raid 0, Now my question is what is the better for pure speed? Thanks.

I’m a fellow new builder in this whole computer building society! As of this very moment I’m looking around for my last part of the build aka the cpu and it might take a while, so I’ll let that wait for a while. Now I’m standing with and question after I’ve looked around a lot about it and it’s about Raid 0. I have 2 980 pro 2tb ssds and I’m then wondering if i should raid 0 them together for a single drive or keep them separate. Any help is greatly appreciated! :D

I have Samsung 980 PRO 1TB and I want to buy Corsair MP600 PRO XT 1TB and use RAID 0 to get double the speed. However these two have different speeds 980 PRO: 7 GB / 5.1 GB Corsair XT: 7.1 GB / 6.8 GB Can i RAID 0 them together and get double the speed of 980 PRO? or they have to be exactly identical?

Hi, so, I'm currently having a really strange issue. I've been running 3 SanDisk SDSSDH3 1TB SSDs in RAID 0 (Raid 0 is fine for what I use them for and they were cheaper than 3TB of Nvme) for about 2.5 years now. A few days ago, I noticed, while copying files, that the read speeds are really low. Write is fine. After checking with CrystalDisk, they were at 250MB/s read while 1.3GB/s write. The drives themselfs seem fine, I verified the array with Intel RST. Since I've never seen an problem like this, I'm not sure how to find a solution. SMART looks fine for all of them (attaches picture), but when benchmarking the behaviour is really strange. And in normal use, the array just feels slow. I'll appriciate any ideas on how to solve this problem. Thanks. Hi, My laptop came with two crappy LITEON 128 GB SATA m.2 SSDs in RAID 0. I would like to disable the raid and use a single PNY XLR8 3030 NVME m.2 as my boot drive. How do I do that? I tried to see what, if any, error I get from using only one of those m.2 drives. The power and keyboard lights were on but the screen was always black for a long time as if the laptop was stuck in a boot loop. I'm afraid if this happens to the PNY drive after I buy it, it would only be a paperweight. -
Just a quick question. I have 3 1TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe Drives. One is obviously for my OS and Software, where the other is for Games. I'm not sure what to do with the third. I don't play many games, but overtime one may become full and I m ay need to resort to putting the 2 in RAID 0. Will doing so cause any damage to the drives?

Hello Friends, I've installed 2 QVO SATA SSDs to my rig but, Samsung Magician won't detect them? I'm thinking this is because I created a RAID 0 setup using the "storage pool" function found in "manage storage spaces" on windows 10? Any ideas? No problem the boot drive though (NVMe Samsung drive) Thanks! -
Hello, I'm currently running a small-ish server as home storage (mostly video format) and I'm trying to expand it. I've recently obtained a workstation board which has like 12 sata ports, exactly what I need to expand my storage. This build is very budget and it's containing about 4 drives with total capacity of about 16 terabytes. I wasn't looking for any redundancy so the server is running windows raid 0. Right now, I'm trying to move those 4 drives with around 10 terabytes (half the capacity) filled to a different windows system (different motherboard, different system disk, different RAM, basically a whole different system). The RAID 0 configuration is ONLY DATA, no windows install (that is on a different disk). What I really need help with are actually two things if anyone could help me. -How will the RAID 0 which was configured in windows disk management (software raid) behave if I just take out all the drives and connect them to a different system? I assume since the new windows install won't know the raid at all it's not gonna work. Is there a correct way to migrate software raid? Also I will be expanding it with another 2 drives, again.. I know atleast RAID 1 or even RAID 5 would be a better option but the drivers are all different sizes and I don't really know how to make use of that. -On the new board which is asus z10pe-d8 ws there are like 10 SATA ports and 4 more "smaller" sata ports. They look similar but they're.. well.. smaller in width. What are those used for? How can I make use of them? Is there some kind of adapter? I sincerely thank to anyone who even reads this, I know it's very basic but I haven't had any luck finding this kind of information anywhere. Thanks again.

I installed 2 Samsung 980 Pros (2TB each) in an Asus Hyper M.2 pci-e card, and created a Raid 0 volume. The set shows the correct size of 3.6TB in the BIOS and in Windows System Information, but Windows File Explorer only shows the capacity as 1.9TB. What's going on with this? File Explorer seems to only be seeing one SSD. THE PCIe slot the Hyper M.2 card is configured in the BIOS to the 2 SSD's option, which seems to be supported by the BIOS capacity and the Windows System properties. Why does File Explorer report a different capacity? -
My Current PC has X570 ACE Motherboard from MSI with 5800X Ryzen CPU. I just got 3 SAMSUNG 980 PRO SSD 2TB PCIe NVMe Gen 4, and I was thinking about having raid 0 to increase performance of Read & write. Should I make all 3 Raid 0 although the first PCIe slot is connected to the CPU and the 2 other PCIe run through the chip set? will this be a problem with the latency? or Install the system on the first PCIe NVMe drive and make the other 2 drives Raid 0? maybe it will still be fast in booting the OS and loading all the start up apps as the 1st option? if so should I configure the Raid 0 for the last 2 drives from the AMD motherboard or the windows OS? note: all PCIe NVMe are Gen 4. any other ideas are welcomed, thanks.

I accidently cleaned the wrong disk using DiskPart . The disk was part of a raid configuration . I want to know how do I recover my data . I was going to follow this guide on yt https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1MP-TchHyg but I had concerns since he did it on a partition of a drive instead of the drive itself. And my personal drive being part of a raid I stopped short of assigning a drive letter to the cleaned disk. Please help I want to recover my drive and get my data back.I thought of other things I could try like go to linux usb or my 2nd boot of windows to back up my data if possible . I ma just wait now and try not to read or write anything off my ex-raid.

hai, i want to buy a 8tb hdd for my movies and i transfer files a lot between my pc and ssd. my connection between my pc and ssd is a usb c 3 gen1. now i get a 120mb/s. it is an advantage for my to use raid 0 or doesn't make a diverence is transer speed. thanks

Hi, just bought 2x 1Tb 970 EVO SSD M. 2 NVME (I've installed) . I have 1x 2TB HDD and 1x 500Gb SSD (windows boot) both SATA. Asus Strix motherboard with RAID supported. I want to set up the raid 0 array for just the two new 970 evo's, I want to leave the other two as they are so that I can start migrating stuff across as and when. All the videos I've seem on set up for Raid 0 array is to make it the the windows boot drive too. Can't find any that that suggests that doing my preferred way is a thing? Is it? In Asus bios setup I can go through the process of setting up the raid 0 array but it suggests that it is going to wipe the current drives. Any ideas? Thanks Martin

quick question maybe not quick I have 2 identical ocz SSD's, at 240 gb apiece. I want to raid 0, but data loss is a thing. I have a thrid drive, a 500gb 7200 rpm laptop hard drive. Can you (or even should you) raid 10 between three different drives? where I raid 1 the hdd against the 2 ssd's?

So I was looking to make a overkill NAS of somewhere close to 16TB in Raid 0 (Ballin and risky but its what I want.) It will run some linux distro which I'll figure out later but I was wondering the following; 1. RAM requried for 16tb ext4 share 2. PSU (for 8x2tb drives) 3. HBA card suggestions (Just hba, no raid features needed.)

hello, i have a 4tb raid 0 on my main system, but randomly one drive just gone away from the raid and now it is just a normal drive. can i revert it back? if yes how. ps my motherboard was reset before this happened

Pretty simple, I have 1 850 pro should I get another in RAID 0? There's a guy selling 256 GB 850 pros for 100 CAD (got mine from them, its great) Is it worthwhile to get a second 850 pro and run raid 0 (value is great I know) or should I save for a nice NVME PCIE ssd

Hello all, I am looking for anyone more knowledgeable with RAID to help me out. My computer spec is listed below. I used to have boot times of under 30s and now just recently have to wait 1min+. I ran some diagnostic software and the only error to note is that my GPU failed a hardware acceleration test. What do yall think is causing the longer boot times? CPU: i7 4790k Ram: 16GB Mobo: asus z97-pro wifi Boot device: 3 SSD in RAID 0 (raid from mobo, no raid card) storage: 2x1TB 2x3TB WD RED Drives in raid 1 (raid from mobo, no raid card) Gigabyte GTX970 G1 Gaming power supply: corsair RM1000 PSU(over powered but was a gift Any thoughts?? Note: GPU error seems to not have affected gaming quality or frame rates at all. Thank you!

I'm using Asus Rampage V Edition 10 and two intel 750 series SSD 1.2T , one of they is connect to U.2 and the another one is connect to a u.2 port white chance by m.2 with using asus hyper kit. But I can't set raid 0 at my bios ! What should I do now ? -
hello i was going to fit dual m.2 in raid 0 on skylake motherboard or kabylake for os and games but now amd ryzen is coming will this still take m.2 or should i stay with intel. i already have sata sdd but performance is poor

Hi. Looking for a RAID controller that supports two M.2 PCIe SSDs which would also allow me to configure the two SSDs in RAID 0. My motherboard comes with a M.2 slot but you cannot use RAID with it. I am aware this is completely stupid that I am chasing for this insane SSD configuration, but I want to anyway. SSD: Samsung 960 Pro 512GB x2. -
I built my pc in Feb, but I think I forgot to setup my SSD in RAID 0, maybe I did it maybe i didn't. How do I check it without going to the BIOS? Hi, New build here: Asus Maximus IX Code Intel 7700k 32GB Corsair 3200 (Set to XMP) 2x Samsung 960 pro M.2 NVME SSDs 1TB 2x Nvidia GTX 1080TIs. Updated to latest BIOS I've also brought over my legacy SATA SSDs that were in a raid 0 config and my WD HDD. BIOS is good to go with RAID settings as far as I can tell. The BIOS recognized my old legacy sata raid array and allowed me to create an additional new raid array with the new M.2 SSDs. CSM is disabled and secure boot enabled. Using UEFI boot media for win10. The problem is that Windows 10 installer only sees my SATA drives (both the legacy SATA raid and the HDD), but it doesn't recognize the NVME raid 0. I have loaded the latest Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver from a USB stick and still it doesn't see the M.2 array. If I remove the M.2 drives from raid in the BIOS and disable the raid support for each of them, Windows installer will see each of them individually. Is there some other PCIE driver that's necessary for windows to recognize a NVME Raid volume? As for the "overkill-ness" of this build, i'm aware of the performance benefits (or lack thereof) with the raid/nvme config, but i would like the benefit of a single volume. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
