Budget (including currency): doesn't matter Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Intense video editing (premiere pro, after effect) and extreme gaming Other details Threadripper 3990X, Radeon VII, 128 GB RAM. This will work, but I'm wondering if I can use two Radeon VII with crossfire. I'm not sure if that setup will work or not, as it has nowhere been advertised or listed by AMD that Radeon VII is crossfire compatible with threadripper, and many people are saying that it isn't. I want to be completely sure that will work. If anyone has any idea about this let me know please. Thank You.

I was planning on upgrading my 980 Ti to either a 5700 XT or a 2070 Super, possibly a used 2080 if the deal is good enough, and I came across a like-new Radeon VII for $450. Is it worth going for that over the 5700 XT or 2070 Super at that price? I'm aware of the potential noise and heat issues with the VII, and I know I can get the 5700 XT for less, but with tax the 5700 XT will cost roughly the same or more than the VII. Warranty is a potential factor but my last two cards have been second-hand and had no issues so its not a massive concern of mine either. Any advice? Edit: I'm using the system to game at 1440p 144 Hz with a Ryzen 7 3700x build for context.

https://videocardz.com/newz/amd-radeon-vii-reaches-end-of-life Well it seems that Radeon VII may now officially be an end of life product after Cowcotland.com confirmed with their sources at AMD that production on the Radeon VII has now ceased. This puts custom Radeon VII designs out of the picture and (I woud speculate) probably means that AMD intends to replace it with their more scalable RDNA architecture on their 5700 series GPU's. We have already seen listings from Sapphire at the EEC of RX 5800 and 5900. https://hothardware.com/news/sapphire-amd-radeon-rx-5800-5900-navi-navi-20 So it would seem that AMD is ceasing production on radeon VII so they can start cashing in on RX 5700. Plus there were rumours about a Navi 20 GPU existing as well. https://hothardware.com/news/amd-navi-10-radeon-rx-3080-xt-rtx-2070-budget-pricing

Hi! I was hoping that the release of nVidia's SUPER cards would cause the Radeon VII's price to drop but it seems AMD is killing it instead. Nevertheless, I would like to buy one if the price drops but I don't know whether it will. Do you think the prices of Radeon VII will drop at least for clearance of the remaining stock? I haven't seen any downward trend in pricing recently as I thought would have to happen. Also what do you think about driver support? Will it continue as Radeon VII is basically a cut down server-grade GPU or will it end soon?

So I'm having a super weird issue with my Radeon VII that I recently got for my Hackintosh. My Vega 64 works perfect and I've had no issues with it, but when try and replace it with the Radeon VII I ordered, it won't let me get into the bios at all which is super odd. My computer will start up and I see no display upon initial startup and I do not get the usual Gigabyte Aorus bios display screen, and only later in the boot process do I finally see output from the display and this only happens once Mac OS is almost fully loaded. I'm sure if my windows SSD was set to my primary boot device it would do similar behavior if trying to boot into windows, but my Mac OS configuration should have no bearing on me not even being able to enter the bios properly. I'm pretty stuck here and confused about what's going on. This system has been really stable for me but this one is throwing me off. Here's my full specs: delidded 8700k @5.1ghz Radeon VII/Vega 64 Seasonic 850w Prime Gold Gigabyte Aorus 5 Gaming z370 motherboard 32gb 3200mhz G.Skill Trident Z Samsung 970 evo nvme Noctua D15s cooler

Just got my build done yesterday, but something must be wrong... even at "easy" OC on either gpu or cpu the temps are flying to the top! Does my build have too many bends and sharp turns? Or hmm, idk... I had i temporary loop while i was waiting for parts, that was one radiator for both cpu and gpu, and the system was much cooler than now. Posting some pic of new build and a pic of the temporary loop, and some temps, and a awsome drawing!

Hey. So im buying a second hand vive this weekend, and I don't think my current RX 580 will be good enough to have a decent gaming experience in VR games. As a result, im looking to upgrade my GPU as well, and im conflicted about my GPU choice. I have budgeted $1000 AUD to spend on a GPU, so the RTX 2080 and Radeon VII are the cards of choice for me. Heres the problem; Radeon VII is generally a bit slower in games than the RTX 2080. It's also sold out everywhere. While the 2080 is faster, I do not want to support Nvidia at all over their anti-competition bullshit with GameWorks (gimping their previous gen and AMD cards to force you to buy a new one; https://www.criticalhit.net/technology/is-nvidia-being-anti-competitive-with-gameworks/) and their outright f*** you mentality to the open source Linux community. I want to have the best experience I can, but I don't want to support Nvidia at all. Should I wait for the Radeon VII to come back into stock and take a performance hit, or swallow my pride, buy a 2080 now, and spend the weekend playing SUPERHOT VR?

I just got my Radeon VII yesterday, and I'm really enjoying it. It replaced my 1080 Mini, and so far it seems fine. The drivers were the major worry, but my experiences have been pretty good. If anything, it's response is faster for recovering from sleep, and during restarts than my 1080. I've had no compatibility issues with games so far, and it scores well on Passmark. I was wondering if anyone had any other experiences with this card, and if yours differs from mine, how so and what should I look for? I know there aren't many of these things out there, and I was lucky to get one, but I figured someone on the forums must have one.

Just got 2 8700k's , ROG STRIX Z390-E gaming mobo , and a Corsair H100i. My budget is $1,000 - $1,500. I have my old PC to take parts from, if the parts are compatible. Having 2. 8700k's was thinking build one as cheap as i can so I'm able to game, then max out the next build over time. Really cant wait to try Intel as I've had AMD all my life! Biggest problem I've had is with GPU price's VS productivity. Not really wanting to spend that much on GPU without advice or more research! Any help with the build or just knowledge of parts, GPU - Memory - Storage - Power Supply "speeds, prices, compatibility ETC." Would be greatly appreciated. PS. Any monitor opinions/suggestions would be awesome. Kinda in the dark there as well. Is it pointless to have nice GPU with crap display? Hi all... Oh! boy... Ces 2019, You have made me more headache on which graphics card to buy... Nvidia RTX 2060 or AMD Radeon VII. Should I go for the more expensive AMD or Nvidia... I have untill end of Feb to deside which one to choose...? Linus should do a comparison on both Radeon VII and RTX 2080 (that should keep the flame burning between the green and red supporters) Bomberman00

Hi everyone, So, I had an RX Vega 56 Air Boost from MSI that I had bought second-hand, which I regret fully because I came to know it was used brutally for mining, so the card didn't have much to live. Recently it broke down. Bummer. I RMA'd it and they basically returned the full money for it, which is almost enough for an RTX 2080 since the previous owner had bought it in the middle of the whole mining debacle. Now, i prefer AMD cards and drivers, I love the Radeon Driver experience and I am waiting until the launch of the Radeon VII to check out prices here... ... but I'm starting to get bored and anxious because there is nothing in Portugal that indicates there's gonna be a pre-sale or anything like the RTX launch has done. And my gaming PC is stuck with the freaking Intel integrated graphics, so I can't play anything on it. Before anyone says "Why won't you go for the RTX 2080 TI?", in short, I live in Portugal, and the RTX 2080 Ti is more than 1300€ here, which in the land of the free is about 1 474,52 US$. The price difference between the RTX 2080 and the Ti is more than 250€ (~300 US$). I can't pay that much. So, what do you guys think? Should I hold my horses and keep hoping to check out the Radeon VII after the 7th of February or should I just pull the trigger on the RTX 2080?

Asrock unveils the Radeon VII (R7) card ahead of the official launch (it's Jan 30th, 2019, and it's like almost 8-9 days). This is likely a stock edition, and I believe also stock PCB layout. It does support the newer AMD FreeSync 2, meanwhile, there's no mention of ray tracing support like Nvidia's RTX counterparts. Hey everyone. Are you able to find the Radeon VII in your regions for the launch price ($699). I can't find a single one. There are pre-built PCs with it but not any separately. Cheers

So I've had my radeon VII card for just under a year now (brought it at launch) and recently I think it's developed a bit of an issue. My PC keeps randomly crashing during gameplay. Instances include stuff like sitting in a queue on overwatch, trying to play the Division 2 in DX12, and if I play any game for around an hour my PC just hard resets. All my drivers are up to date and I'm running the latest version of widows. Does anyone have any tips or tricks that I can use to diagnoses the exact issue, at the moment I've just been using windows event viewer and that all.

Hi guys, brand new to the forum. I recently purchased a Radeon VII when xfx had them on sale for $500 and of course my immediate goal was to see how much extra juice I could get out of it by OCing. To make a long story short, I did some minor overclocking on MSI Afterburner with the stock air cooler and could get 1900mhz core/1200mhz memory stable by just raise the power limit (stock voltage was 1074mV but I didn't touch it because of how hot it ran). I got an EK waterblock for it and added it to my custom loop expecting to be able to crank the clock speed by adding additional voltage. Temperature is obviously no longer an issue, however, no matter what I do I cannot get a stable core clock past 1980mhz. I believe the problem I am seeing is related to the wattage. When running running wattman's metric overlay during Heaven runs the card will not draw more than 300 watts. Every time it gets near that number it throttles the clock speed. This was taking place on a 750watt psu. I switched it out with a 1000watt psu wanting to see if that was the issue and the first run I tried the card would spike into the 320 watt range and the coreclock was much higher. Because of this I assumed the old PSU was the issue, however, since that first run the card has gone back to not drawing more than 300 watts and throttling when it approaches it. From what I read this card should be drawing far more power than this when I am overclocking, why am I hitting a wall? As we all know from CES, AMD announced a lot of things but it's nice of them to announce a new GPU that can at least match a GTX 2080 The Radeon VII will feature 16GB of HBM2 with 1TB/s of bandwidth, 60 CUs, a core clock of up to 1.8GHz, and up to 25% of performance improvement vs previous generation. What's a bit disappointing slightly 'meh' however is that they chose to release a card that will match a GTX 2080 but at $699. I think at $699 this card loses a lot of attractiveness (The GTX 1080 Ti is still a good value card than a GTX 2080 and is cheaper). Perhaps even 8GB of HBM2 would be better, I just wish they'd push it down to $599 (VEGA 64 launched at $499, although it can be argued one can't find it at MSRP at that time) But this is just me nitpicking since the card itself is $100 cheaper than a GTX 2080 (which launched at $799) Well there you have it, it took AMD almost 2 years to have a card that matches the GTX 1080 Ti (which by the way launched also at $699 in March 2017). Is this card worth getting over a GTX 1080 Ti right now? Maybe. We don't know. We have to wait for in-depth reviews. In other news: GTX 1080 Ti have nothing to fear, just skip one more year! (Source: CES, Fudzilla) EDIT: Forgot to mention So it could be a better value card than the GTX 1080 Ti at the moment assuming you play all those games (or sell them) End. Also in case you missed it - UPDATE: Nvidia's Jensen Huang had a couple of things to say about the announcement - LMAO. This is the first time I heard something like this from Jensen. He sounds like a 12-year old kid and he's the CEO. Well, I think he's speaking to his own cards "And if we turn on ray tracing we'll crush it" yeah, sounds about right the way Ray-Tracing takes a toll on the RTX cards. AMD's Lisa Su does however gave a moderate response - Source: Fudzilla

I'm building a new PC, and i'm planning to use custom water cooling (for the first time), the first graphics card I considered was the Liquid Devil RX 5700 XT, but its £600 and at that price the Radeon VII is cheaper. I've found it for under £600 (not water cooled), and I might be able to get it even cheaper than that. Waterblocks for the Radeon VII are around £110, so if I can get it for £510 or less would it be a better choice. If not, at what price would you consider it a better choice, £400? Even cheaper? Not at all? Also, since its rather new, would it be worth buying used Radeon VII at all?

Recently, my father was promoted to "chairman of the board" at his business, and to celebrate that he is offering me a generous sum of $5000 to replace my surface book 2 I bought in 2017. So I began the search for a few computer guides that could give me a good recommendation. One problem appeared though: Most guides used a Threadripper 2950x as their main "splurge point" and left most of the other components similar to build guides in the 25-3500 dollar range, which makes me question wether these build are actually for gaming (which from what I can tell are more GPU intensive) or CAD and professional video and graphic design (which are more CPU oriented). Is a threadripper a good investment? Or maybe a second 2080Ti running SLI? After some searching I decided that this is the biggest hub of computer junkies that I could find and the best chance of getting my answer. Reading related posts, yes, I know that I probably could get a gaming rig for $1000 bucks and it would be just fine, but I have the money and I am unlikely to get such a generous donation for quite a while (the next possible point I see is leaving for college in 4-5 years) and it isn't cash so any money I save on a $2000 gaming rig goes into my dads pocket and not mine. So I'd rather spend the money now when I have it to make the best possible rig that I can. Any Suggestions? Any would be appreciated.
