Hey I’m sorry if this is the wrong sub forum to post this in but I’m looking for advice/help here. I’ve just moved my racing sim out of my bedroom as an old room in my house is no longer occupied and I get to take over half of it, I’m tossing up between moving my whole gaming set up with the sim, or running an active usb cable and long hdmi cable through my roof into the other room to run a monitor and the sim rig. I was going to use a powered usb hub for the sim and connect the hub to my pc using an active usb cable, the length will have to be about 25-30m which will be usb 2.0 I believe. the cost is fine because I can get everything from work at a decent enough discount but I’m worried that’ll be too much data to run through one active cable and I don’t want to use multiple hubs and cables. I’m also worried that running usb 2 speeds over such a long distance might create too much latency. if anyone has done anything similar or has done exactly this and has any advice on if this solution will create any problems or a better way to do it without going to fibre because I don’t have Linus money I’d love to hear it. I hope this was all coherent I’m currently very sleep deprived and am about to finally get to bed. thanks in advanced guys

Budget (including currency): 1100 EUR Country: Germany. Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: WRC and Dirt Rally is my main area of interest. But I would like play other games like Cyberpunk, CS GO also if my upcoming PC have the ability to so. Other workloads will be day to day activities like YouTube, watch football (Soccer) and other live streaming (WAN show mainly ). Also I'd like to do some streaming in twitch, I have an inactive account (but again if the PC have the ability for this) Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): So a colleague of mine, racing games enthusiast is upgrading to a proper racing sim setup ( PC alone is 2000+ EUR) so he gave me an offer that if want, I could get his 2 year old gaming pc with all peripherals. I will try to list the components here: 2 Monitors - MSI MSI Optix G24C4 Curved 23,6 Zoll Full-HD Gaming Monitor (144 hz) - iiyama G-Master Black Hawk GE2288HS-B1 54.7 cm (21.5 Inch) PC - Motherboard is MSI 550BP Gaming plus. - CPU is Ryzen7 3700X. - Graphics Card is AMD 5700XT Gygabite Aorus 8gb DDR6. - RAM is 32gb G-SKILL 4x8gb. - 2x SSD (1x M2. and the other one is normal SSD no HDD) 500GB each. - Power unit is LUX gold plus 750W. Racing Accessors - Thrustmaster TX racing wheel with force feedback (Don't know the actual model, its with Ferrari logo and paddle shifter) - Thrustmaster T3PA Triple Pedal Sets all the above mentioned components was offered for me at a price of 750 EUR. additional to this i'm planning to buy one additional MSI MSI Optix G24C4 Curved 23,6 Zoll Full-HD Gaming Monitor (144 hz) costs 139 EUR in black friday deal. which brings a total of 889 EUR. In the remaining budget I want to buy a keyboard and mouse, and a headset with mic. Also would like to know If its a worth deal considering I'm really new to PC gaming? What possible upgrades can I do in future to this existing setup? Is this machine good enough for WRC and other racing games as well as streaming? Thanks in advance for your responses

Is there software to allow Force Feedback racing wheels to work with unsupported racing games? I have a hardware USB adapter for wheels to convert them to 360 controllers, but I don't think it auto-centers the steering wheel or adds force feedback (from memory). The last time I tried it, I used my Logitech G25 steering wheel with Sonic Racing Transformed. Today, I'm looking for this solution to allow my 3 year old to play the newest Sonic Team Racing game with me. Joysticks are hard for him to control, but I figure a steering wheel would be easier. Is there some way to plugin a G25 or G29 (I have both) and make it work with incompatible racing games?

Hello all, I have a pretty powerful pc (so I thought) and figured I would give vr racing (with the valve index) a go. I have tried both assetto corsa and Dirt 2.0 in VR. I currently can only get about 72fps (often a 72fps lock with spikes up to 80 ish or down to 60 ish). I am only running medium or high on most settings and have consulted the Dirt community a bit already. Is it possible that this is more a hardware issue? I will list my parts below. Let me know what seems to be the issue or if there is something else I could try. Other VR games run like a charm, but for some reason, vr racing can really take a toll on my pc. Thanks! PC Specs (forgive me as I am not currently in front of my machine): Aorus z390 Pro Wifi (I think?? Someone may correct me, but it is for my chipset) Intel i7-9700k 32gb of G-skill Ram (3000 MHz I believe) NZXT Case and NZXT Kraken CPU cooler (a basic water cooling system that does the job. Note: dual fan with radiator) GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3090 GAMING OC 24G EVGA 1000w Power Supply (not sure which model it was) Storage listed below: 1tb M.2 (samsung) 1tb Sata Storage (samsung) 4tb Hard Drive If I am missing anything, let me know!

TLDR: I want a racing sim setup with a large (65/75+inch) TV and a racing chair. I need to be able to get rid of the chair to make room easily. I have a steering wheel and pc. So I have a decent rig, capable of 4k gaming, which I do regularly now, including F1 2022. I have a logitech G920 steering wheel which I attach to my desk. It works but it's not ideal. So I have a dedicated "gaming room" which I also use for VR. I have decided to expand it with a racing sim. I thought about various options with screens coming from the ceiling or from the wall, but that's just going to work because I need that space for VR when I'm not racing. So my idea was to buy a chair you can easily fold up and put away, like a play seat, and buy a big 65 or 75 inch tv to put on the cabinet. Get a decent soundbar and buy a USB extension cable to connect my steering wheel to my pc from a few metres away. I also thought about buying a beamer but i'd have to hang it from the ceiling but that doesn't work because it's already a low ceiling and I stand there with VR. Are there any holes in my idea? Am I missing something? And which TV would you recommend me right now? I think the philips TV's are nice because of the Ambilight, which could add to the immersion (I have one in the living room and it's great), and it also has to be 100 (120) HZ, however I'm kinda out of the loop with TV technology ever since Samsung came with QD and LG pushed out an updated OLED. Any tips on which TV to buy? OLED / 100 HZ Any thoughts, tips would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the post, need help picking a laptop pls I live in Indonesia, if you need grasp of my currency value then im gonna compare a price of this laptop in US (Acer Predator Helios 300) to my region's price (also USD's value to my currency just got up from usual) Acer Predator Helios 300 i7-9750H 6c/12t GTX 1660 Ti 144Hz 1080p 16GB DDR4 512GB SSD in Amazon US $1129 The same frikin laptop here convert to USD $1396 Adding insult to injury, this acer would be called hard for the average people here to afford, for scale i've heard my fellow Indonesian (an average Senior High School Student) waiting and saving money for 2 months to buy a $160-180 phone (Realme, meh) while in the US people with some 10USD savings can afford it in a time of around 100 days Ok now, as title suggests, how much power is it required to play, say Assetto Corsa on a laptop? I've got my only candidate to this date, Lenovo Ideapad S340 with Ryzen 5 3500U, 60Hz 1080p IPS display, 512GB SSD and 8GB dual channel RAM roughly at $470 USD (currency converted). From performance analogy, last gen's Laptop APU the R5 2500U is about as close to R3 2200G and the R5 3500U is about substantially better, correct me if there are mistakes please. I could also look for help if there are any similar spec laptops or better at the $450-500 price range to add in to my research, also could I be getting away with decent performance in video production demands as well (Ai, Blender, Vegas Pro line) with the current candidate? Thanks for every answer and attention

Hello, Recently my dad and I are talking about building pcs for sim racing. Now, since i just like the trouble?, I wondered if I could try something like the: " 2 gaming rigs, 1 tower" idea. Since I would probably need something like Unraid (maybe someone has other virtualization tools?) I thought using that rig as my server swell. (I have some csgo/mc servers running). Now, because Ryzen cpus are so much quicker and getting affordable. Is it finally a serious option to build 1 pc, that you can use for 2 racing sims? (I do understand that you would need 2 gpus, but with two different systems you would too). I would like you guys idea's and think if a 3700x combined with 2 gpus would be powerful enough for this? Some details: sim rigs would both only use 1 screen 1080p 144hz server would only run minecraft and csgo server, looking to use plex here as well but not sure (would be nice if this could be done on this too) Thanks in advance!

Heres my before and after photos of my setup so far, the pc first photo was basically made with the cheapest parts avalable at the time with the exception of ram. [Pentium G4560, GTX 1050 2gb, ASRock b250m pro4, 16gb vengeance 3000MHz] that was good for general use and okay with gaming on newer more demanding games. Then I upgraded to a Ryzen 5 1600X, ASRock AB350M Pro4, [I kept the same ram and graphics card because its too expensive atm], Corsair H60 cooler [I will overclock soon] and my favorite part is the case Cooler Master MasterBox Lite 3.1 TG mATX Mid Tower, This is the best mATX case and its also the cheapest. Products in the final 2 photos will be coming in the future and also will be making a custom desk that goes along the whole wall. This will mainly be used to play games like assetto corsa and fortnite, h1z1 etc. and eventually stream when my area gets the NBN. So what do you guys think i should upgrade the graphics card to once the gpu prices come down a bit if they ever do, something that will allow the 1600X to use its full potential

I'm hoping to get suggestions on this project I'm working on where I want to emulate what it would be like to be driving and have someone hijack control of your vehicle. The idea would be to set up an Obutto cockpit with wheel and pedals, a PC and an easily mod-able copy of a racing game. The experience starts normal, like driving around a track, then suddenly about 2 minutes into the "race" the car will violently turn, shocking the user. After this the screen would display some message, and restart or fade to black for the next user to try. Does anyone have suggestions of how to achieve this, or who I may be able to contact to do the modding work? I can pay :-z... First glance I was looking at iRacing or RFactor... Halp!! :-)

Hello, I am in the process of trying to find the best solution for building a new system that will support gaming as well as doing graphic design work. My specs follow: 1. Budget & Location At present I am considering around 4k for the budget which would include 3 monitors, keyboard, mouse and headset. My location is US. 2. Aim The system will be used for gaming and graphic design. The games I plan to play are Fallout 4, GTA V, Diablo III, Elite: Dangerous, and various driving simulators. I also use Adobe CS6 Master Suite, and will eventually be editing video for commercial spots. There is also a chance I will be creating animations in 3ds Max 2015. 3. Monitors Currently I am considering 3 2k monitors @ 2560X1440 each setup as super wide screen. I may want to include an additional monitor above the other 3 for various reasons. 4. Peripherals As mentioned, I will want to buy new keyboard, mouse and headset. I would like to give the mechanical key type keyboards a try to see how they perform and how I like them. Head tracking hardware/software will also be purchased in this price. 5. Why are you upgrading? I want to upgrade because I used to do wide screen racing, but have run into issues with my hardware being a bit out of date and driver support is no longer available to resolve issues in some of the main stream games I play. I have been a huge AMD fan for many years, but from what I am seeing and from what I have experienced recently it appears that Intel for the CPU and nVidia for the graphics solution seems to be the way to go. I would love to come under budget on this if possible and still be able to do what I need to do on the system with reasonable frame rates and close to maxed out on graphic settings for the most part. I am a realist however and understand that there will be situations where I will have to cut back on some graphics in order to keep my performance levels up. I appreciate any and all advice on this. James Cole

Now that Pcars is out, who has it and what do you think of it? How does it compare to Assetto Corsa in terms of; graphics, physics, sounds, car models, AI, Multiplayer etc.? Also, how well does it run on PC? I have Assetto and it's freakin awesome in almost every aspect except for a few areas (poor AI, no weather, limited car selection). Have been doing some research on Pcars to see if it's worth my $, but I'm a bit weary of what I've seen/heard so far. Sounds silly but one odd issue I don't like is the engine sound while shifting. Maybe they've fixed it by now, but I watched one in-game video of the Mclaren P1 and when they shift gears, it's like the audio track for the engine is cut and jumps to another track (different rpm) which is not what it should sound like. Sounds very unrealistic to me. Again, I know that sounds like a stupid thing to complain about, but I'm all about the immersion/authenticity and something like this totally breaks the immersion, IMO. So, anyways, what are your thoughts?

So for some reason I have a racing simulator in my spare room... I have three monitors for it however my current sim rig specs only allow for two screens due to my 4870 only having 2xDVI out. In the future I intend to replace the monitors with an Oculus Rift but until CV1 is released I think three screens is better than two - given the bezel is down the fekking middle of the displays so I want to buy a GPU that will be suited to both triple 1080 and in the future an OrCV1 - I know Nvidia have some VR frame rendering hacks to reduce latency? but not sure if this is 970/980 exclusive - be mindfull that I am playing Live For Speed and iRacing - both are NOT graphically demanding games. What is the cheapest GPU I can buy that will run triple screens in racing sims Current specs: Intel i5-750 Biostar T5-P55 mobo 4gb ddr3 ATI HD4870 1GB GDDR5 Here is the simulator, in all of its box-steel glory:
