Hi All, I've been away from PC building for a little while now but as my Motherboard has broken after 8 long years I've decided to look into upgrading my system. In summary, I want to replace the motherboard and CPU but due to the current GPU shortage I want to keep my current Graphics Card (R9 270X.... I know, Bottleneck much) and upgrade this in the future when GPU pricing returns to normal. List of current components for clarity: CPU: FX8350 Black Edition Mobo: M5A99FX Pro R2.0 (Broken) GPU: Gigabyte R9 270X OC PSU: Corsair CS750M RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro 2x4gb Storage: 1TB WD Blue 120GB Samsung SSD (Boot Drive) 250GB Samsung SSD Monitor: ASUS Pro Art something.... (Good colour and depth but not a gaming monitor and only 60 Hz) I would be looking to upgrade to a Ryzen CPU and corresponding motherboard. The components I have specifically looked at are Ryzen 5 5600X and Gigabyte B550 AORUS Pro AC. My main question is: Will my current Graphics Card work with these new components? I know that its a severe bottleneck but there are certainly plans to upgrade the GPU when prices are more normal. Secondary Question: Would it be worth upgrading the storage and RAM as well? DDR4 and M.2 have entered the main stream since first building my PC and I think I'd like to try and take advantage of this. If this seems like a good idea, are there any specific products that would work best with the system or that you recommend? Any other suggestions are warmly welcomed!! (P.S I have checked the Motherboard with another CPU and the same "no Post and Red CPU light" error occurs.) Budget (including currency): £400-£700 For new components (CPU Mobo RAM Storage) Country: UK Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Dota, CSGO, Total War, Valheim. Hi, I just recently upgraded my GPU from an R9 270X to an RX 480. Since then I've been experiencing bad frame drops, specifically in Overwatch on Windows 10 (since that's the only comparison I can make between them). Before I swapped cards, I was getting a solid 55-60 frames. Afterward, I'm lucky to get 40 frames. My last game dropped all the way down to 13fps. I already installed (and reinstalled) my latest GPU and Mobo drivers. I think the problem is a bottleneck since that's the newest piece of hardware in my system. I'm guessing it's with my Mobo or CPU. My question, though, is that even if my GPU is being bottlenecked wouldn't it at least output the same quality of my last card? I'm new to this issue and would like some help understanding it more. I've also included my system's DxDiag and MSInfo32 information if that can be of any help. Hey all, I've got a bit of an issue with a friend's gpu. The fans will just not spin at all below 80%. If you look at MSI afterburner or the Trixx software it will show "GPU Temp 40c, Fan Speed 40%" But the fans don't spin at all. When you set the fan speed to fixed, they only start at 80%. The fans do not struggle to spin when I turn them manually with my hand so it's not like it's struggling. Any ideas? Thanks

Recently my pc crashed while playing gta 5 with an error denoting to a memory management issue.. It didn't post afterwards until I removed one of my older ram. But running on the single 4gb ram I've noticed stuttering on YouTube videos at 1080p on full screen and it stopped posting after awhile when on full screen (also happened in vlc). I've tried reinstalling chrome but nothing changed, then I thought windows 10 wasn't pleased with 4gigs of ram, so I bought and added 4gigs more but the problem still persisted. Then I've noticed I haven't had updated the gpu driver for a while, so I did that and the problem suddenly went away there was no more stuttering and posting issues.. until I noticed every video on motor trend channel still stuttered but had no issues with unbox, linus and vlc.. as i have had before. Then the computer occasionally didn't posted while powering on.. And then stuttering on games as well. So I went on and connected the monitor to my motherboard and i was heart broken to find motor trend videos was doing fine.. Does this mean my gpu is in trouble? Should I also try out the latest hotfix optional driver? P.S my gpu is sapphire r9 270x and psu is corsair cx500.

Hi guys please can someone tell me i am having huge problems in black ops 3 major stuttering in game even with my settings set to low. my pc specs intel core i5 3330 lgs1155 Asus h61m-k mobo 2 x 4 gig kingston ddr3 New asus r9 270x dc2 top 2 gig 750w Raidmax PSU checked all voltages even on 12v all in spec 500gig western HD 7200rpm Windows 10 64bit i was running bo3 with my old system a i3 3240 with a gtx 570 windforce and no problems there at all just graphics was not great. only now when i installed the new GPU all drivers and all and running dc12. I ran open hardware monitor and saw my cpu and gpu always spiking in game once i put everything to low the CPU and GPU was evening out at around 50 to 68 percent i could somewhat play with minimal stuttering. i really am stumped on this im not that bad when it comes to pc but this gets me have i missed anything please guys thanks your help would be greatly appreciated o ya all temps and very good Cpu around 52 deg and GPU at 59 deg

EDIT: Below you can see the original story of annoying red dots appearing on my screen. The repliers all came to the conclusion that it was windows fault and my hardware was fine; but now after updating to windows 10 these do not show their face as often but during times when the screen is completely black, say from unlocking windows, between asus logo (mobo) and windows or on Razer synapse. They do not appear anywhere else... However, something i believe that is related is far more annoying. My computer can be idling, like now, or under a stress test (Prime95/ Furmark/ Games- Far cry 3/4 - GTA 5 - Beamng Drive - Assetto Corsa) and artifacts will appear. these warp and stretch on screen icons like chrome, ai suite or after burner and make 3d elements in games also warp and stretch or triangular shadows/objects to be cast on the floor or into the sky. Also on the desktop when moving items around parts of the window is left behind. I feel that to fix this it was cost me but i'm unsure whether its cpu or gpu related. During the stress tests the problem is more significant with Prime95 possibly making it worst but it is hard to tell. The question- CPU/ GPU/ Other? Thanks! P.S. The issue does not show up in screen shots... Just had a conversation with a technical support guy from microsoft to try and solve a bug that has been bugging me for around 3 months. Recently 8 square dots have appeared in the bottom right quarter of my screen (seen in image upload). These dots don't appear in the system bios, only in windows it seems. However with the information i could supply, he (microsoft support guy) concluded that it was not software but hardware. Something i had been dreading... They appear on my screen in windows (and all other programs), show up in screenshots, recording and microsoft remote support. Please help me to find a solution, hopefully not resulting in a new GPU. I am looking for the best R9 270x for $180

I have an XFX R9 270X and lately, whenever the frames get above about a 1000, this really high pitched squealing noise starts. I haven't been able to figure out if it's the graphics card or the power supply yet. Any help would be appreciated. (I have a Corsair CX750M 750 watt power supply)

Hi everyone, i have r9 270x which is not working i at first suspected that its bad vram but then i came across a thread which said psu is bad. So the thing happens is when i run a game it gives black screen or force closes itself. However it can play small and less graphic intensive games like bl2. Tried running benchmarks on furmark. The benchmarking app freezes and then closes or some time gives black screen. The temp never exceeded 50 degrees celcius during this process. Kindly tell me is it my psu or my gpu. Hello, I've just gotten DayZ for myself and I'm getting like 40 fps on 1080p with some custom settings. Nothing overboard. Something that's pretty annoying is how bad it performs sometimes. And I was wondering how much overclocking would help me? I mean 10+ more fps and I'm sold. This needs to be safe though. I don't have any fancy fans etc. :3 Thanks.

Welcome to my guide about water cooling a R9 series GPU. This is aimed at giving you a short introduction on what you will need and why; to water cool a R9 series GPU. The basics in the will apply to water cooling all GPUs. Advantages of watercooling For those of you new to water cooling; it usually gives you a quieter system, a cooler system or preferably both. In the R9's case, however, it will also give you a performance boost. Your GPU will automatically over clock until it hits a limit, be that a thermal limit or a power limit. When water-cooling you will probably be hitting the power limit first, unlike air cooling where you would probably hit the thermal limit first. This of course means more performance from your card, along with the other advantages you get. It also means overclocking will be automatic and take far less effort. Buying a new loop If you are new to water-cooling and going from zero then I really recommend checking out the Water-Cooling 101 and FAQ . They will give you a full overview of most of the parts you will need to buy to water-cool a GPU. If you want a base loop that you can replace parts on or add to I have made a guide for a "Basic CPU Loop" guide complete with a parts list. If you have done all of this and constructed a base loop you should carry onto the next section. Adding a GPU to your loop You will need a couple of parts to add a GPU to your loop. This will be the same whether you are adding to a H220 or a custom loop. First off you need a GPU block. At the time of writing this there are no blocks out there for the newer cards. I will put in a section at the end for news on water blocks coming out for the R9 series so refer to that if you are looking for a block for that card. The most important thing when looking for a GPU block is to make sure you have a reference card. The easiest way to do this is to go to www.coolingconfigurator.com . Again, please note that the site needs to be updated for the newer GPUs and EK needs to release blocks first, however, if you are buying cards at launch you can expect it to use a reference design. This is the standard design that all "standard" GPU blocks will fit on. You can expect to spend around £100 on your GPU block. You will also probably need another radiator if you want to add another GPU to your loop. There is a lot of info on radiators in the FAQ, however, you should be looking at adding a 240mm radiator to your loop for a graphics card. A lot of people will tell you that a 120mm is enough. Well that is true but it really depends on how fast you want to run your fans. In my opinion, for a reasonable fan level you should be looking at a 240mm radiator for 1 GPU and an 360 radiator for 2 additional GPUs. This applies to most GPUs with exceptions the exception being lower end GPUs. You have to remember that more radiator space means you can run your fans at increasingly lower speeds. There is a point of diminishing returns, however, if you pass it you will be spending ridiculous amounts of money and will probably know about it. In addition to this you will also need fittings and tubing. You should make sure these with the rest of your current water cooling system. You will also need extra/new coolant. In conclusion you will need; GPU block Another radiator Fittings, tubing and extra/new coolant. Waterblocks List (10/October/13) "Because the Radeon R9 280X is based on a Tahiti XT GPU (the very same GPU used on the Radeon HD 7970 and HD 7950 graphics cards) and no prescribed reference design the majority of graphics card manufactured have simply re-used it's existing circuit board design - either the most commonly used design is a AMD reference design (109-C38637) or a proprietary design such as ASUS DirectCU II and MATRIX. As a result a lot of these graphics cards can be used with EK-FC7970 CSQ series water block or other water blocks from EK's portfolio such as EK-FC7970 DCII. In order to simplify the search for suitable and compatible water block EK has added more than 15 different Radeon R9 280X (as well as numerous Radeon R9 270X and -R7 260X series) graphics cards from various manufacturers to EK Cooling Configurator database and compatible graphics cards are being added to the list on daily basis." -EKWB (source) So it seems as if most 7970/50 blocks will fit future R9 cards. Please go to www.coolingconfigurator.com and check compatibility before you buy though! Expect non-reference R9 blocks in the future as well as blocks with R9 2#0X written on then as oppose to 79#0. ***************************** Thanks for reading. Hello guys bear with me its gonna be long. I bought a graphics card from eBay ( second hand) MSI r9 270x HAWK at 120 bucks. When i plugged in my graphics card it worked fine. I downloaded some drivers and uninstalled my old nvidia ones but after that when i restarted the pc the screen went black after the window boot up ( you know when the window logo disappears and stuff) And the screen flickers. But when i use mouse the arrow shows up on screen but not the display and all. I should mention that I have shitty Psu 500w the 18 dollars one. After 3,4 times of restart the I noticed a sound coming from psu's fan Then I tried my older graphics card and its working. Please help me with some thing. What could be the problem. (My older gpu is gt610)
