Its like very severe stuttering, and it deosnt matter what cable i use nor what display i use. As fast as I go over 60hz refreshrate the monitor will jumt/stutter aloooot.

so i got a R9 270, sold as defect because of artifacts, for $10 thinking i might be able to do something with it, or that it was caused by some extenal factor and if not it was just $10 anyway. iv replaced the exessive shitloads of thermalpaste thinking that might have been a problem because it looked like it was high silver content stuff and aplied the stuff Noctua sends with their coolers but that did nothing for me. i have tried all display outputs exept for DP because i have no use for DP because i have no cables or monitors that use it. i saw nothing visiually wrong with it, no blown caps or stuff like that from what i could see so if anyone has any idea then tell me, id love to fix it up(not bakeing it, i dont have a spare oven). thanks for any help

A few months back I recieved an AMD R9 270 (Twin Frozer edition by MSI) for free from a friend. He said it fried itself to death from heat. The card didn't let any computer POST, and if it did by some chance the screen would go purple and the PC would crash. He told me if I could get it working then I could keep it. He apparently forgot that the warranty was still in effect. So I sent the card to MSI to be fixed. After receiving the card back, I put it in mothers PC. I did this because it was the best performing card that I didn't need, it was free, and it let her use multiple 1080p monitors. However, this all changed about a month after the warranty expired. (Thanks MSI). The issues this time around were different. The card lets every PC I've tested to POST, go into the BIOS, and attempt to boot an OS. However, the PC fails to boot Windows 7, 10, CentOS, Ubuntu, and FreeBSD. For example, the Windows boot screen will appear to be working just fine, then suddenly it will go black, show some HDD activity for about 15 seconds, then stop or reboot. These symptoms happen on all of the many other OSes and PCs I've tested. There was one occasion where I got the card to boot into windows 10 and work for a solid 15 minutes. However, the moment I attempted to install the graphics driver, the system black screened, showed some disc activity for 15 seconds, then stopped. I haven't been able to replicate this again. I believe that the problem has something to do with drivers. I read somewhere that this could be fixed by reflashing the BIOS of the card. Which I am brave (or stupid) enough to do. Now I know that some of you are going to ask, "why not just buy a new card?". Well wise guy, maybe I don't want to spend any money on a GTX 1050 (that just happens to be on sale for $99), if I don't have to. Additionally, used cards that suit my needs are way too expensive or hard to find on Ebay. The temporary card that I am using in my mothers PC is a Geforce 210. This P.O.S. slows down pretty much everything, sounds like a leaf blower/chainsaw hybrid, has a fan that doesn't shut off when the system is set to sleep, can't connect the two displays that I have because it doesn't have display port., and somehow manages to run very hot at idle. So if it is possible to fix the R9 270, it would be pretty nice. Any tips, tricks, or ideas to help me fix this?

Hey people on ltt, I want to play the new wolfenstein but I am not sure if my current gpu can run it. The rest of my specs are good enough and I really dont want to play it on my ps4 because I played the first one on my pc so I cant go back.

I have a spare R9 270 lying around and I was wondering how much it might sell for during this shortage of GPU's. Either to someone that wants to mine or someone that wants to game. Anyone got any price suggestions that I could sell it for?

PC build in 2014 and the problems only started around 5-8 months ago. CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 760K @ 3.8 Ghz Mobo: MSI A78M-E35 GPU: MSI R9 270 2GB (running at stock) RAM: 1x8GB DDR3 Kingston Fury Storage: Crucial MX300 528 GB SSD (boot, games and other all programs), WD 500 GB HDD (old HDD that I have; about 6-8 years old; using it now for movie storing and nothing else) PSU: Corsair CX500W 80+ Bronze The problem: FPS drops like crazy while playing games. Since I'm now mostly playing Overwatch I will give examples of the problem based on playing Overwatch but the problem still exist while playing other games. While playing games there is nothing else running in the background apart from b.net, steam, discord, MSI Afterburner, Google Drive (not syncing anything), AMD Radeon Settings. So I'm playing Overwatch on all Low settings at 1920x1080 resolution and in the menus everything is fine GPU usage is 95-100%, CPU is at ~50% with capping out 200 FPS limit. Once I start a match there is a gradual change that happens. GPU usage gradually goes down to ~40-30% while the CPU usage goes up to 95-100% while the FPS struggles to stay at 50-60. After about an hour of playing it starts to drop to around 40-50 FPS especially when there is a lot going on in the game (big team fights). This stays all the time until I get into the menus or close the game. The temperatures are fine GPU is only at 57°C while the CPU is at 67°C. RAM usage is at 5.8GB. Attempts at fixing the problem: Tried running AIDA64 stress test for a couple of hours and the CPU seems to work fine and doesn't go past 67°C. Additional details: I've seen people running Overwatch with this CPU and GPU build at 1080p Medium-High settings at steady 60+ FPS. I did try setting the graphics a bit higher and actually got higher FPS but after about an hour of playing it dropped to 20-30 FPS which is lower than running on all Low settings. The AMD Gaming Evolved program recommends running Overwatch in Medium-High settings for this system. Any thoughts on what is the problem and a way to fix this apart from buying new parts?

Hi! I'm currently trying to troubleshoot my PC Ryzen 3 2200g R9 270 (non X) A320 Motherboard 1 x 8gb ddr4 2400mhz CIT-Atv500r Psu (500w 80 Bronze) 1TB WD 7200RPM So I'm only 15. My knowledge on PC Components is very strong ect. But when it comes to things like troubshooting I have no clue what to do really. My original PC when I bought it 2nd hand was: Fx 6300 Some random Asus am3+ mobo that I can't remember 2 x 4gb ddr3 1866 Everything eles was the same as it is now I didn't know what to expect pairing a 2200g with an r9 270. But it's been absolutely awful ever since I made upgrades (I suspect its bottleneck with my cpu gpu but I don't know 100%) I mainly game on my PC, that's its primary use. If anyone knows what's wrong with my system and what directions I can take to get my PC stable (suggest upgrades ect. As I'm upgrading my PC at Christmas anyway) Thanks!

I just picked up an R9 270 and the fan is running 100% speed 24/7. It's a reference card but it's not overheating, Afterburner shows a temp of high 20's low 30's at idle. Back of the card is barely warm, and the air it's spitting is barely warm. I think it's a driver issues since I can't control the fan speed in Afterburner. With the Adrenaline drivers installed it shows up in device manager as an "AMD Radeon R9 200 series" but if I force install the Windows recommended driver from right clicking in device manager it actually shows up as an R9 270, Afterburner did the 200 series thing too and now shows correctly, but still no control in Afterburner. I used DDU before installing the card, I uninstalled the driver and reinstalled it again, I even tried installing it on-top of itself. Any ideas? I'd rather not have the fan die, the original owner also said it never did this.

Hey guys. As someone saw my post i was switching my dead GPU to new GPU and i will be switching to same GPU and that is r9 270. I had MSI R9 270 and i bought used R9 270 Powercolor. Okay so the guy told me that he was using that card and that its working in his home . I didnt tested in his place but yeah. I saw him bring the card and he was really gentle and he packed everything cool and the card really looks in awesome condition with even crossfire protection on her (screws intact too). So i plug her in my PC and it gives no screen, black screen. He is sleeping now but i remembered that he sad to me that he was using HDMI cable only not DVI-D to VGA adapter like me, so maybe thats the case my card wont boot and it gives black screen? To add my ex card which is dying still shows screen (but with artifacts since she is dying and driver wont work) with same DVI-D to VGA adapter , but this card wont work. I dont think guy is scam because he told me call me if something is not right and i will gave you back money and similar. Even on box that he gave me with the card i can see his adress where he lives and his name and even phone number because he bought new card and box was XFX RX580 4GB. So my guess maybe DVI port dont work on card , faulty? Maybe i should try HDMI to VGA adapter what you guys think could be the problem?

After trying to play Overwatch normally like usual, the monitors went dark and after rebooting the PC, everything (that didn't use the GPU much, like Photoshop, chrome and anything else) worked fine, with the GPU plugged in, and without any monitor issues; but after re-trying to open Overwatch a while later, the same happened but this time, after rebooting, the monitors stayed dark and I'm not sure if the PC even fully booted because the keyboard and mouse lights were off. After rebooting some times, the monitor would work (showing a Windows trying to repair message, followed by the PC telling me it didn't find how to fix it and giving me options such as reversing to previous windows version and such, which I ignored and just tried the "Exit and go to Windows" to attempt to boot again). So now basically, if I remove the GPU from the motherboard and boot the computer, it boots and works normally (and well, the monitors in this case plugged to motherboard) so with that I assume all PC components aside from GPU should be working fine; but if I put in the GPU again, plug monitors to it and boot the PC, it either works for a very short while (with wrong resolution, but before I even get to change it, monitor goes dark again and I can't do anything) or it simply has the monitors dark from the beginning (until, again, the windows repair message shows up). I've cleaned the PC and got a fair amount of dust out of the GPU (in case it IS dead, that may be part of why..); I tried the other PCI-E slot; I've tried another 6-pin in case that one somehow had a pin not working or something. I uninstalled AMD drivers to see if having them later reinstalled could help (assuming the issue was a driver one). I don't know what else to try. If the GPU is dead well, that's it; but I just want to make sure it is before putting it away permanently and checking prices to buy something else in the future. I don't have another PC or another GPU to try anything with that, in case you wonder. The full PC specs are: Intel i5 3570K; ASUS P8Z77-M; XFX 650W PSU; 16GB RAM (I think it was 4+4+8, since I have 3 DIMMs); and the GPU in question is a Sapphire R9 270 OC Edition. Sorry for long post, just wanted to give some info if it helps.

First of all sorry for my bad english.. I bought a gpu last month r9 270 from gigabyte factory overclocked.. i replace the thermal paste and while gaming or benchmarking i got 80-90° celcius i underclocked the card to the stock speed which amd offers but i don't get any major difference.. so i wanted to confirm is that very dangerous or i can go with that? I was wondering if the R9 270 is still worth using or if I should tell him to get a newer graphics card that is within his budget.

I have two options only i could buy a dell precision t3400 which has q9650 12 mb 3.0 ghz OR i could buy precision t7400 which has dual xeon e5430 And I have r9 270 From gigabyte factory overclocked.. And I don't Want 100 fps.. i m happy at 45 - 50 fps in modern games. i have 8 gigs of ram too. Sorry for my bad english

So I have a r9 270, and it has served me well over the last few years. But in some modern games I have to lower setting and performance is kinda poor. I think that it has to do with lacking vram, anyway I was wondering what would be a good modern/modern-ish replacement in the $200 range. I was thinking gtx 1050ti or 1060. Any input is greatly appreciated.

So listen, last week friend told me that his gpu (R9 270) is dead. Bassiclly the Gpu wasnt giving out anyore signal, fans where spinning and the gpu is getting enough power, monitor is also fine. The thing is, that my friend doesnt know anything about pc'`s and his dad instantly bought him a new one (gtx 1050ti). So he offerd me the card for 35 € to buy. Here in Germany the go on Ebay for 25 € dead 50 € working I dont know if i should get it, i dont need it cause i own a gtx 680, but i think about fixing it and reselling it Should i get it? What could be the Problem with the card? Greeting from germany

I found both of these cards for about the same price, I'm thinking the 270 will definitely run cooler and use less power but the 580 has a extra gig of vram, I'm thinking it would make it more future-proof since they both support dx12.

Hello, recently I have been wanting to overclock my R9 270. The model is a HIS ICEQ X2 which I honestly dont even think HIS sells gpus in north america anymore. I have tried using msi after burner sapphire trixx and amd overdrive but all of them do the same thing. If I increase or decrease my mem or core clock by 1 mhz my screen starts going crazy flickering with lines. A long time ago like 3 years ago used to be able to get 1150 mhz from the 925 stock clock. I have never tried overclocking since I formatted my whole computer and now this is happening. Specs FX 8320 @4.7ghz 16gb DDR3 RAM Corsair CX 750m PSU HIS ICEq X2 R9 270 Windows 7 sp1 Latest Version Of amd crimson drivers.

Ok so the thing is, I have this R9 270 Reference card on a generation 4 Gigabyte board and a 4590 I5 CPU. I works, it's perfect, no issues. When I take this R9 270 and put it on ANY other system it does not work. When playing a game it will grey screen and the pc will restart. Only on the Gigabyte you can push this GPU to it's limit and will work like a boss. On the other systems temperature is not a issue, the card runs in the low 60's when gaming. I just want to know why this GPU ONLY works on this one system and not on any other system. I have used the same OS, RAM, PSU, Driver version etc on all the other systems.

My brother has a dead Gigabyte Windforce R9 270 that he got from his friend, and I have an XFX RX 480 8GB Reference card that I traded my XFX R9 390 Dual Fan with the same person who gave him the 270. Would it be possible to put the Windforce cooler from the 270 onto the RX 480, and if so, would the backplate still be able to be used and would I need anything in addition to some thermal adhesive for the RAM chips? I've attached pictures of the R9 270 with the screw points circled in MS Paint, and a VideoCardz stock image of a reference RX 480 with the screw holes circled in Paint as well. I'm also going to be posting this question on r/AMD to see what feedback I get there as well.

Hey guys, so my brother bought a pre-built PC last year with: AMD FX-8320 AMD R9 270 (with some cheap aftermarked cooling) 8GB RAM the rest is some cheap bullshit hardware... Now when gaming ether his PC shuts down after 10-20 min. of playing games like Battlefront or Just Cause 3 (League of Legends works fine btw), or the games crashes and the DirectX drivers stop working (at least he told me so). Also the PC runs slower in general for a few weeks now. The temps are pretty much OK, my own hardware is a lot hotter when gaming. May it be that it's a hardware issue, considering that the hardware is really low-quality? I'm reinstalling the drivers right now, maybe that will fix something. Can some kind of malware make the PC shut down and crash games in that way? Because well, my brother has a bunch of apps, that brought some other software which he doesn't know... Hello so my question is will increasing my gpu clock and my memory clock take more power than stock ? I am asking this because my PSU is just very bad and it is at its limit most of the time.

I just noticed I plugged my GPU into the PCI-E x16_2 slot and not PCI-E x16_1 .. Does this make a difference?
