I was wonder if its possible to assign Static IPs to users in windows server 2012 R2 I have DHCP and DNS services running , users and i know a client pc can be assigned an ip but what i want to do is so that when a user logs in from any client there ip changes to the users assigned ip and when they log out and a new user logs in from that client pc the ip changes to either an assigned one or a random one from the ip pool To explain my self a bit more i want user Sam to log on from client-PC 1 and be assigned a specific ip, then he logs out and user Guest logs on but the ip changed to one from the pool and the logs out and user April logs in and gets an assigned ip is it even possible????

Hello, I have access to Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard, Windows Server 2016 Standard and Windows Server 2019 Standard. I have an old Intel Chassis Server (S3420GP Motherboard) and I want to install Windows Server on it as a Domain Controller with RADIUS and a few other things. I have tested Server 2012 R2, 2016 and 2019 on it and I found that Server 2016 and 2019 ran terribly, and felt very unfinished and not polished compared to Server 2012 R2 which felt fast, bug free, and much more streamlined and felt more like a finished product. My question is: Is Windows Server 2012 R2 still a fully functional and useable Server OS? Can it be used in a Windows 10 environment? Does it support most new features? Are there any features that Server 2016 and 2019 have that are must-haves or that make compatibility with a Windows 10 domain environment much better? I just don't like the idea of Server 2016 and 2019, they do not feel like polished operating systems that I would want to use on a server, they feel buggy, and after literal memes being made about how bad the updating is on Server 2016, it is making me very cautious.

So I have a home server with plex, sonarr, webserver etc. currently running Windows 10. It also has a software RAID 0 configured with the built in "Storage Spaces" in Windows. Now I am thinking about switching to Win Server 2012 R2 (easier management, other features I want), but I don't really know what will happen to the RAID config if I install a different OS. Will I be able to recover the array after installing, or will I have to do it some other way?

Hello, I am currently using my ~2 year old Alienware X51 R2 with GTX 645 OEM and I3 4130. After startup my CPU rises up to 100 c and stays at this temperature for about 30-45 minutes. My fans would still be going at around full speed as I can still hear them loud and clear through my Beats Executives turned on. After this period of time, however, CPU usage goes down from ~65% to ~%5 and my CPU temps go from 100 c to ~65 c. Fans also turn down to 2600 RPM, 1070 RPM, and 2209 RPM (Fan 1, Fan 2, Fan 3). Do I need a new CPU Cooler/Case Fans or is their another solution I could try

So currently, I have a Fractal Design Define R2 case. Because of the way it is designed with caged front fans and a single floor fan space, I am a bit unsure of how I would set up an AIO cooler. On one hand, the easy solution is a single 120 on the bottom. On the other hand, a double rad would give better cooling performance, but no spot seems to be a good candidate for mounting such radiator. I don't suppose the space between the front panel and drive cage (after removing the front fan holders) is of sufficient depth to accomodate a rad with fans, unless I am mistaken. One other solution, though a bit ghetto, would be to mount the rad on the drive cage with zipties, twist ties or other means. Do you people have any suggestions for how I could solve this conondrum? I do plan to make a custom side panel for my case, which could potentially be made to have 240-rad support, but I'm not sure if you would recommend it?

i just bought a Asus Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 Turbo but seem its too big to fit into this. Any recommend graphic card that fit into this ?

So i was wondering that does somebody else have the same problem with the arc midi r2. There is often a vibration sound that i can only get rid off by pushing like the side panel or something. I have tried to diagnose where the vibrations are coming from, and it seems that the WD Black hard drive on the bottom hdd bay is causing them. Does anybody have a solution for this or have the same problem. I tried to look for this problem on the internet but didn't find anything (the system also has 3 bitfenix spectre pro fans, 2 on the front and 1 on the back) Thanks in advance

Okay, so I have an Alienware x51 R2. Here are the specs: Windows 10 Intel 4430 @ 3.00Ghz Nvidia GTX 645 2 TB Seagate Barracuda HDD 8Gb Ram Alright, so here's my dilemma. After purchasing this computer back in 2013, the computer just cannot keep up with many of the AAA games I enjoy playing. The GTX 645 was able to keep up for a little bit, but struggles when I want to play more demanding games such as GTAV or Battlefront 3. I wanted to see if I could possibly upgrade to a GTX 960, however the problem is I only have a 240w power supply. Would this be enough to run a 960 at a stable performance, or do I have to upgrade my power supply as well? Here's the link to a 330w power supply, would this work if the 240w wouldn't?: http://accessories.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=332-1432#Overview Also I find it weird how the maximum wattage on the GTX 645 is higher (130w) than the GTX 960 (120w), however I still believe the GTX 960 would have a much higher power draw. (And before I get any hate comments on a prebuilt, yes I know that building it yourself is superior, but I like the size of the case as I like in quite a small dorm, so I want to keep the same case.) Thanks, JT

This is the specs of my Alienware m14x r2: i7-3630qm, gt650m gddr5, 8gb ddr3 1600mhz, samsung 840 evo. Is there anyway to unlock or change the thermal limit? It keeps throttle at 67c i can't even play dota 2 at 60fps anymore. Without throttle it(gpu) will run at 969mhz but after throttle kicks up it will keep drop till it stay below 67. I basically can't play any game on my Alienware anymore.

Hey everyone. I've had this case lying around for a while and since i was kinda bored i decided to do a casemod. I simply painted it matte white! I've always wondered how it would look in white since there is NO ONE on the internet who has painted this case white. I did it and I was not disappointed! The paintjob itself is quite bad tbh. I didn't sand it down before painting, nor did i use any primer. I didn't even wipe off the surface for crying out loud The main reason i painted see how it would look in white. The paint chips really easily so i don't see myself building in this case, unless i redo the whole paintjob... So FRACTAL DESIGN if you are reading this, pleeeeeease make a white version asap! Here is the link to the whole album: http://imgur.com/a/a3Msg Please leave your opinion and thoughts below! All photos taken with my OnePlus One

Kind of a stupid question, but I'm about to buy a 212 evo but I'm not sure if i'll fit... I have a Fractal Design ARC Mini R2, and the ram is HyperX Fury (it's not a bit stick...)
-
I'm looking for the smallest MATX case, needs to be one. And I've come to the conclusion that these 4 are the only nice looking ones to me at least. I'm most likely going to install a Swiftech H220-X, but if not a H100i will suffice for me. I like it windowed by the way. I plan on bringing this rig with me whenever I go overseas. Moving from Beijing -> Canada for college.

Hey guys I am planning on getting a fractal design arc mini r2 for my first PC build. I would like to take it to LAN's occasionally and I want to know how heavy it is and how practical it would be to carry it around. It weighs around 9kg without any components inside but I would like to know how difficult it would be to move around.

I have a HP ProLiant MicroServer running Windows Home Server 2008 R2 however when I start it up Windows attempts to repair the operating system. It fails and reboots the PC. I have a bootable USB with Home Server 2008 R2 on it. I know I can use this to repair the Operating System however I don't know how to go about doing this. Some additional information: The server contains 4 500GB drives, one is the boot drive and I believe the other ones are in a software raid. How can I repair this operating system? If I can't how can I read the data on these drives? If any more information is required please ask, thank you

Hey guys, I'm a bit new to the forum but not the channel. I currently own an Alienware x51 (R2) with these specs: Intel i7-4770 @ 3.4 ghz (stock cooler!) NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 Ti OEM w/ 2 GB of VRAM <---- to be upgraded soon 16 GB of RAM 1 TB HDD ...and the rest of it is irrelevant. I've been thinking about "overhauling" my system's cooling performance by replacing the heat sink and several other fans around the system with Noctua offerings. I've already decided on getting Noctua 40mm A4x10 fans for replacements around the system. Now I'm split between a low profile Noctua air cooled solution or a ghetto 40mm liquid cooling solution with a Corsair H50 block and a 3rd party rad. I found a special rad for the liquid cooling solution called a "Magicool Mini II Dual 40mm Liquid Cooling Radiator." Got any advice?

First off sorry if this isn't the right place to post this and sorry for registering an account just to post this one thread but I'm becoming desperate. I bought an Alienware Aurora R2 some years ago, around 2010, and have left it untouched. I feel that it's starting to show it's age a bit and figured it might be time for an upgrade. I've included an image of some specs from the Speccy application if that helps. 1. Budget & Location I live in the US and I'd like to spend $1000US for this upgrade with room to go up to $1400US or $1500US on parts / a full custom build if that is the better option. I'll be buying these parts around December of this year so I'll be sure to bump this thread a few days before then. 2. Aim I'd like to keep this rig a gaming rig but I've recently started doing let's plays which require audio and in game recording as well as video editing afterwards. Currently the system struggles running newer games like Far Cry 3 on very high and can't even run on ultra settings. This makes recording newer games out of the question unless I severely dumb down the graphic quality. I'd like to be able to run high graphic settings while still being able to record footage for videos. 3. Monitors So far I'm thinking I'm only ever going to use one monitor at any given time. My current monitor's resolution is 1920x1080 4. Peripherals I already have the peripherals that I will be using except for an extra copy of a Windows OS. 5. Why are you upgrading? I've recently done some spring cleaning inside the case which helped out a bit and hopefully updated all the drivers that needed to be updated but I'm still running into the same problem. It's slow when it comes to editing and rendering videos and, I can't play newer games at high/ultra quality settings. EDIT: Seeing that it's kind of unanimous that I should make a new build I'd love to see your ideas for a new build if you don't mind.

I'm upgrading and I need a blue themed microATX Z77 motherboard for my PC. I have a Fractal Design ARC Mini R2 so a normal ATX board won't fit in. Things I look for are: quality (duh ), good overclocking ability, a side USB 3.0 connector (if possible), good fan-header positioning (if possible.), blue themed. That's mostly it, thanks in advance B)

I am trying to upgrade my laptop to a lenovo Y510p. I have an Alienware M14x R2 with an i5 3210 with 6 gbs of ram a GT 650M with 2 gbs of vram. The screen resolution is 1600x900. I have only had one problem with this computer that I plan on having fixed. Its just the touch pad is a little out of sync. I also have a carrying case that I will be selling with the laptop. How much do you think I could get from this laptop?

Hi everyone, this is my first thread, so yeah... Anyways, I have all my parts ready for a new, 1st time build except for the case. My build is centred around the Intel i5 4670k and I will be air cooling with a Thermalright Macho. I am looking for a nice, aesthetically-pleasing, well-built case with good acoustic efficiency (but with airflow prioritising silence) and a side window within a flexible budget of £70. Three cases come to mind. The first case is the Coolermaster 690III. As the title states, I've found a great deal and am able to get this for around £50. This ticks all the right boxes but I'm worried about the build quality. Is it fully plastic or is the mesh metal? The second case is the Fractal Design Arc Midi R2. This is available for around £70 and once again, ticks all the right boxes for me. I'm concerned whether its worth £20 more than the 690III though. Also, despite being a minimalist, I think this case might be a bit too bland but I get a weird impression that this case will look better in real life than the promo pictures. The last case is the NZXT Phantom 530. This is definitely the most appealing case to me since it has amazing airflow as well as very quiet operation. It's aesthetic is a love/hate thing but I love it. It literally is my perfect, dream case but I find it hard to justify the extra £50 over the 690III. I am aware that this is a full tower case, but personally I don't necessarily need the extra space, it's more of a bonus feature. I believe all three of these cases are solid offerings and I have done a fair bit of research. All these cases are easy to work in and have very good watercooling support. Although I'm not planning to watercool any time soon, I may change my mind if prices drop during my next upgrade cycle. So which case do you guys think is most suitable for me? I am very price-concious (as you'll see if I do a build log *hint* *hint* ) but I'm thinking whether spending the extra money will be justified in the long term since the chassis is the component that is likely to be reused the most. Thanks!
