Hello! My computer is very quiet... appart from my harddrive which sounds like a fucking jet. It has been noisy since I bought it. It's really good on every other aspect apart from the noise... Does anyone have any tips for a replacement? I really want to have a whisper quiet PC and it's really bugging me. Requirements: 2TB Really quiet/silent Preferably under 100$ Relatively fast (in the range of peaking at 180MB/sec) I'm really thankful for any response, have a good day!

Intro: So yeah, Lightroom is either poorly coded or power hungry, but bottom-line: on a budget/old system IT IS SLOW! So I want to surprise my wife with a new build, and throw the old DDR2-system out the window. 1. Budget & Location Budget is R20 000 - R30 000 (which is about 1500 - 2300 USD with an exchange rate of 13.2 R/USD at the time of writing this). I am located in South-Africa and the best retailer and parts I have access to (not limited to) can be found here: http://www.pcint.co.za/en/components , But no Noctua fans Parts that I aim to carry over from the previous build include an 8TB Seagate archive HDD, 4TB WD HDD, Samsung Evo 250 GB SSD, Thermaltake 700W PSU, PS2 Keyboard (if possible), USB mouse, USB WiFi, USB Printer, USB monitor calibrator, USB card reader, USB Cam, and DVI monitor. (need a lot of external USBs for new build) 2. Aim Aim 1: LIGHTROOM PERFORMANCE!!! (Adobe photo editing). Not a lot of 'Photoshop-ing'. Exporting and rendering previews can be run overnight (that is what she does on her current system), but she needs more performance during general tasks while editing, while having waaaay to many tabs open in a browser, and possibly running iTunes as well. (Windows system) Aim 2: Longevity. Careful consideration of parts allowed her current system to last more than a decade (with the exception of SSD and HDD upgrades), I would like the same for this one. I.e. Intel optane ready, USB 3.1 type C etc. The i5 7600 might be cheaper but the i7 7700K might be still fast enough a decade from now (stuff like that). Aim 3: Quite. Working alone from home, with no AC in the office, all you hear the whole day is the hum of the computer fans. No gaming. (Well... I would love to, but this is mainly for her work.) 3. Monitors Only one 1080p, but with longevity in mind the system should be able to handle 2x 4K monitors. 4. Current plan and motivation: Corsair 600Q Inverse ATX Full-Tower (Quite) Case - 3x AF140L (140 mm Airflow optimized, low noise) fans included - R 2745 (208 USD) [I like the formal look, 4xfront usb and fan control, enough space inside for upgrading to water cooling or whatever in the future] Asus ROG series Z270 Maximus 9 (iX) Hero MB - R 4845 (367 USD) [Like the many USB in I/O, includes USB 3.1 type C, 2x M.2, Z270 Chipset - which is relatively new, etc] Intel i7 7700K - R 5699 (432 USD) [After a lot of research I've come to the conclusion that Lightroom doesn't really use more than 4 cores, also the X99 chipset is older as well as the 6th generation chips, and would be a lot more expensive build. CoolerMaster Hyper 612 V.2 Air Cooler - R 827 (63 USD) [low noise at under 20db, can be used without fans for a passive cooling, figured the 600Q has got good enough airflow already] Corsair Vengeance 32GB DDR4-2400 Kit(4 x 8GB) Lpx with low-profile heatsink - R 3989 (302 USD) [So here I'm very unsure about memory size and speed, the MB spec says: "4x dual channel DDR4-4133(O.C)/2133 with XMP support up to 32Gb" Does that mean I can OC the RAM from 2400 - 4133, or do I OC the MB from 2133 to 2400, or can I run the 2400 at 2133, or is it better to just buy the 2133 RAM for about 13 USD less????? GPU - No Idea!!! - I just know that I want one with only one fan exhausting to the back of the case, not one of those with 3 fans, and should be able to handle 2x 4K monitors.. Suggestions? 5. Conclusion Please advise on build compatibility, do you think a have a good set to meet my aims? RAM? GPU? Thank you all in advance!!!

Hello everyone, Can anyone recommend a good fan that is quite and moves decent amount of air under 15$ As my case does not have any fan and i am thinking of installing 2 in front and 1 in back and also will 3 fans be enough for i5 6400 and gtx 1060 6gb. Thanks!!

Hey guys, So I have just put together a new build and I purchased a Seasonic Prime series 750 w Titanium power supply. Now the unit itself is fine, no or minimal coil whine and it does it's intended job of well.. powering my computer. What I absolutely cannot stand however is that it's fan is always spinning regardless of if I have the Eco button turned on or off and it makes this horrible grinding sound. As my system is fully water-cooled it is the only sound I can hear coming from my computer and it drives me and my ms absolutely nuts as I can hear it over game sounds. I have RMA the first unit thinking it must be a product fault but after doing some googling it appears it's due to the fluid dynamic bearings Seasonic has opted for using. I have messaged the retailer I bought the PSU from requesting a refund however I do not know what alternatives they are. I am powering a single 1080 TI and an overclocked 8700k among a ton of fan accessories a pump among some other things like RGB lighting. I think I like the idea of staying in the 750 - 850 watt range (I know some of you are going to say overkill but it's like $10 more usually between 650-750) I was wondering if anybody could suggest me a good PSU that is silent I have heard be quiet! are exceptionally good I unfortunately do not have the time right now as work is crazy to do a lot of my own research so any suggestions would be great, also prefer fully modular for cabling purposes.

I'm having problems with my recently acquired Blue Yeti Pro microphone to the point that I am wondering if it was damaged in shipping. I wish to use the microphone in USB mode. The recording levels in all modes (omni, stereo, cardioïde, etc) are so low that to hear anything you have to jack the gain up so loud that you have almost as much white noise as you have actual desired sounds being recorded. Any information, or insight into this would be greatly appreciated! What works : The drivers install correctly and the devices shows up in Device Manager. I can use Audacity/Adobe Audition to record sound (really cruddy sound). The Yeti Pro Control Panel shows in my taskbar. I can use the microphone jack on the Yeti Pro to listen to audio from my PC, and use it to monitor the sound heard by the Yeti Pro (the really cruddy sound, and you have to have gain and headphone knobs practically full). What doesn't work : Recording good quality sound with a respectable noise level. What I have tried : Using a different USB port (USB 3.0 and 2). All the various settings on the mic itself. Using generic Microsoft USB Microphone drivers, and the Blue Yeti Pro Drivers. Changing Level settings for the mic and outputs in Windows. Changing Input/Output levels in the Yeti Pro Control Panel. What I haven't tried (because I can't) : A previous version of Windows. Using the XLR connectivity with an external soundcard. My setup : CPU - Intel Core i5-4690 Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD3H RAM - 16GB 2133MHz GPU - Windforce GTX 970 Case - Corsair Obsidian 550D Storage - SanDisk 960GB SSD + Seagate 2TB HDD PSU - Lepa B650 Display(s) - 3 x Samsung SyncMaster Keyboard - Corsair RGB K70 MXRed Mouse - Logitech G602 Sound - Alesis M1Active 520USB Operating System - Windows 10 Build 10586 Additionnel info : I have already used a non "Pro" USB Yeti mic for recordings so I know how that version handles. In this state, even at full gain, full levels all across the board, it isn't even possible to hear my voice properly in a Skype conversation. Ok so im new here. not sure where i should really post this but i need some answers. I have a nzxt h440 case and im currently using the stock fans it came with and i havent changed the connection port (there connected to this thing in the back of the case). I also have an h100i and to sp 120 high performance fanns connected to them that makes a wierd grinding/ scratchy noise (the rings were a little bent on the fans, could that be the problem?) ......so basically i need some fans to quite this thing down so i can enjoy my late night GAMING. i was looking into noctua fans because of how much they are praised, any suggestions? Welp, my insanity depends on it.

A have a screw less mounting system for my hard drives. its a plastic rail/tray doohickey on my budget case there is no screw mounting hole, this causes vibrations on my case, loud vibrations easy fix. some people use elastic to hang their hdd, i aint got time foe dat. grab some thing to absorb the vibration form the case and the hdd's. i had a thick wrist rubber band, im not sure what their called. i noticed if i squeeze the things that you use to pull out the HDD, there were no more vibrations. and i decided to shove it in the sides f the rail tray thingy. viola, less vibrations yes, i know i have bad wiring and my case is dusty :wacko: , sorry !

I just installed on my PC an H80i. Goddammit, the sound is really loud and annoying. Anybody got recommendations on good fans that are quite but don't sacrifice performance?

What's the best cherry switches for typing and light gaming (minecraft) that's also QUITE?

I'm building a silent pc with a white and red colour scheme so I'm painting the fans. I like the aesthetics of SP 120 but the statistics seem louder than the Sythe GT 13. Will the SP 120 Quite edition be silent or should I get the GTs. Btw I'm running 2x240 and 1x360 XSPC EX rads Also I am willing to undervolt Thanks!
