Greetings! Last year, I decided that I was healthy enough to try a project I've wanted to do for years. Build my own NAS as I had almost all the parts needed. So, after buying five 6TB drives for the backup part of my project, I put it all together. I've got a 120 GB drive for the operating system, 16 gigs of ram, Intel I7-2600K 3.4Ghz cpu. The motherboard is an Asus Sabretooth P67. And case that I was able to stuff it all into. So I built it and installed Ubuntu on it. I had shine fun learning about Linux as I'd never used it before this project. Then my health tanked. I've got a degenerative nervous system disease like MS, which sidelined me for quite a while, and then I had a lot more important things to catch up on until now. So I'm asking for help on bent knee!! Issue 1- I struggled with the drives, as the single 120gb and three of the 6Tb drives showed up as internal drives, but two of the 6Tb drives stayed as removable drives I've seen some articles that I followed over and over again to do some software changes without success. ?????So the questions I have with that are ???? 1) Is it possible that where I've plugged the sata cables in is causing the "removable drive" problem? 2) What distro would you suggest that i start with to build this? I like messing around with distros, but i don't have enough knowledge to choose a good, stable base for my NAS. 3) What software do you suggest i use to build the NAS part? I want to be able to store and access our photos, music, and movies. I would love to be able to access them throughout the house and, if possible, over the internet. [ I have this computer wired to a switch, and my main computer is, as well. My wife's computer is also connected with ethernet cables, but we also have tablets and TVs that i'd like to connect to the NAS through wifi.] ( Please do not tell me that this isn't enough to save my photos, I know, this isn't the only place they will be stored, but i want 1 spot my poor wife can go to find her old pictures. Everyone we know comes to her when they need pictures of them through time. My wife had been our congregations paparazzi for over 20 years. ) EDIT After looking at the user manual I see that this mobo can do raid in the BIOS, i have no idea which is better, but i wanted to give that information!

Hi Im new to the forums so apologies as i get my bearings. I purchased an MSI Crosshair 17 B12U and after a couple of months i swapped the memory for 32GB RAM and added new thermal paste on the CPU and GPU with Arctic MX6. Im a complete novice so i had help doing the teardown with a technician. So i noticed the pink pads on the memory chips and some of them look torn and possibly worn out. So with that in mind, on the next repaste, if i want to replace the thermal pads, what size and thickness would i need? And furthermore, what brand of thermal pads can anyone recommend that's really effective in cooling the laptop? EDIT Judging by the picture the pads look a quite puffy but i can't tell what mm they are and if they are all the same size. I live in Southern Africa so heat management is a bit of an issue during the summers. Ive attached the best picture i have for reference. Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated thanks

Hi, A friend of mine purchased a pre build on eBay which has the following components: 850w PSU ASrock z790 motherboard i7 13700k 32GB G Skill 5600 DDR5 4070TI GPU Generic AIO cooler for CPU He mentioned that he cannot run certain games on the PC at all, just crash on start up so we spent some time updating everything first and still saw the same issues. We then did a clean build of windows 11, installed the drivers required and then ran cinebench r23. Crashes when you run the benchmark for multiple cores, single core ran fine. Then we installed Intel Extreme Tuning Utility and even a benchmark in here on vanilla settings crashed the application. I believe this CPU has a TDP of 253w, and reducing the maximum down to 230w allowed the benchmark in ETU to complete without crashing. Cinebench still crashed though and we had to reduce this down to 205w before it was reliably running for an hour without crashing. Some games still crashed on startup and reducing it further to 190w allowed these games to work as expected namely MW2, Returnal, GOW. I dont believe this is normal behaviour and there is an issue here, either with the motherboard or the CPU itself. I have swapped out the RAM and this doesnt seem to affect the results at all. Is there something we are missing here and in fact our assumptions are incorrect?

Hello LTT community! I recently bought a Dell R720 Rack-mounted server. I want to set up the popular pterodactyl panel to host my fivem Minecraft and TS3 servers. I bought the server so I can have direct access to my data and avoid the monthly cost. I have ran into a hard decision though, I need ddos Protection, I am new to every thing about servers. I know how to run them but hardware wise I know nothing. Is there any type of hard ware I can buy to put in my house to protect me from ddos attacks? I know it’s not the most ideal thing to do but not all my game servers have no community made ddos Protection platforms and I don’t want to pay monthly and mess with proxying. If anyone can recommend hardware or a different alternative that is cheap that would be great. Please tell me if you need more info this is my first ever forum post. Thanks!

Hey, I just noticed the 3060ti is not on the list for cuda supported gpus from nvidia. The last gen 2060 is on the list , so I am questioning why that is. I do not have any experience in this specific feature set and so it happened that I have bought a 3060ti for a friend who does graphics and is still in university and has upcoming projects which I think also can use the gpu. My question is that, can the gpu somehow use those features if a programm is able to use cuda? The gpu does have cuda cores after all. I am feeling realy dumb right now for missing sth like this. Hello Everyone, Does the ASUS PRIME B450 PLUS M.2 slot B, support a M.2 M drive

Im a newbie, so I have no idea about cooling but I got the NZXT H510 and was wondering if keeping the stock fans as they are, or move the top fans so it's a bottom intake fan at the front and keep the CPU cooler facing the back, blowing air towards the back exhaust, or should I turn the cooler so it's facing the top, then move the back exhaust and turn it into a front bottom intake and have air coming out of the top? thanks!

So, I recently saw that nVidia RTX cards had an audio feature that eliminates background sound like mechanical keyboard sounds when on the mic. Is there an alternative app that does the same job? I don't have an RTX card to utilise this feature but would still like it.

So I was looking for a new laptop for a family member and when I heard about the launch I told them to wait because it was not despite for them to get a laptop imdentaly. I heard they where OEM only so I thought that was better because the prefer dell. (I don't like it but they are brand loyal) They will mostly play games like Minecraft and games like fortnite that where not the most demanding but are not easy games to run. I have look on Dell, Hp, and Acer for the new proscesers but I can not find them on any of them. So if someone can link them I would greatly appreciate the help.
