Hi all: I just want to share some findings that I have been having with my ASUS X670E mainboard with R9 7950X and Gskillz DDR5 5400. If you have one of these ASUS X670E-Plus board I would urge you check the quality of the solder job. I've been having constant on and off issues with my computer which I built back in Sept of 2022. It would normally end up being issues with BSOD relating to accessing system files. This lead to a full system rebuilt and the computer was running completely normally. I didn't use my computer for a while with the whole ASUS power problem with overvolting AM5 chips(though it was mostly the x3D, but my processor was hitting like 1.52V under specific loads like Dwarf Fortress). I decided that what ever happens with the MB and I just needed to use my desktop, and everything was fine for the last couple of months. During the past week I started to have memory issues when using web browsers. I would get "Out of Memory" and this lead me to run some memory tests. Windows built in memory tester found hardware problems, and when I ran MemTest64 during the first 12GB of data it found 418 addressing errors and lead into a blue screen. I disabled the default EXPO settings and this allowed the computer to not BSOD, but still was running slow having problems and about every 5 tests of MemTest64 would lead to a non-BSOD crash. I went to replace the MB in my device and when I was inspecting the MB I found the contact points for the VRMs are completely cracked on a large portion of the VRMs. It looks likes this board was assembled with low quality solder as it looked dull and grainy. Photo below: I replaced the ASUS mainboard with a ASROCK X670E Pro(Yes I bought new modules) and this is the quality of the VRM solder job for comparison: I hope this is a fluke, but this is the final example I need from ASUS to not buy their products. -TSG

My question is how ram module frequency and timings are decided during the manufacturing process. For example there are 2 similar sticks of ram. Both are 8gb capacity, but one has a frequency of 3200mhz, and the other 4000mhz. Is it similar to CPU manufacturing where the quality of the chips decides cores and frequency? I would like to see a video on this if possible.

Hello everybody, I currently have a Viewsonic XG2405, great monitor for the price aside from 1 dead pixel, luckily it is on the far left bottom edge. Anyways, today I noticed something while I was using my flashlight on the monitor to look for streaks. The monitor panel has the top right edge warped against the bezel. I never touched that part so it has to be a manufacting defect. The defect is noticeable for me after seeing it, due to me having ocd about anything computer related . I take care of things, sometimes a little bit too much, and these types of QC issues annoy me to no end. What I wanted to ask was, should I worry about the panel transparent protective cover from coming out in the future? Here is the problem:

I'm in the market for a new monitor and dreading it when I should be looking forward to it. I'm dreading it because I have the worst luck when it comes to monitors. I've never been able to just buy a monitor on the first try. I usually end up settling for something in the end. I'm not looking for perfection here, a dead pixel in the corner or some amount of back light bleed isn't the issue. My current monitor is a Acer Predator XB271HU. I've had it for 5 years now (bought it from NCIX of all places). Basically I was able to pick the best one out of 3 of these (NCIX Express Exchange purchased). They all had some mix of back light bleed (black uniformity issues), dead pixels and dust behind the screen. I maybe should have kept looking, but I had already looked at 3 other different models prior to this one with no luck. The issue I'm having with the one I ended up with now is some piece of debris fell down and is near the middle/right side of the screen. At first It thought it was some some sort of odd pattern of a bunch of dead pixels, but it's definitely some debris if you look at it from different angles. There's also some dust inside the screen just above this (hardly noticeable though). The screen has one dead pixel near the bottom and some back light bleed/the black uniformity isn't great, but it's good enough. Acer has introduced me to the wonderful world of dust/debris in behind the screen and as such I would never buy a monitor from them again, especially considering this was a higher end one. Previously I have tried monitors from or had monitors from ASUS, Dell, BenQ, HP, LG & Samsung. Aside from dead & stuck pixels, black uniformity issues/back light bleed (most common issue), I've also encountered a purple tint (Dell), contrast tied to brightness (ASUS), washed out picture (ASUS, Dell), awful black uniformity/backlight bleed (ACER, BenQ), Display Port issues (BenQ), crackling bezel when it heated up (HP) and badly mismatched colours that couldn't be calibrated correctly (Samsung). I'm primarily looking for something with good picture quality for gaming at 1440p or maybe 4K. It's not for competitive gaming and I don't play that many FPS games. I can fit a 27" no problem and am sitting roughly 70cm or 27" from the screen. I might be able to squeeze a 32" in, but I'd be sitting off centre to the left because of the way my desk is then. I'm still using a 980ti at the moment, but will be upgrading to a 3080 most likely. I was looking at the Samsung Odyssey G7, but reading reviews of bad black uniformity and the usual quality control issues has stopped me from pulling the trigger to this point. I don't know if I'm just unlucky or if quality control is really that bad on monitors, but for once I'd like to not have to go through multiple monitors only to settle for something in the end that still has issues. Any advice or suggestions is appreciated.

Hello there :3 I've been considering buying a Razer blade(Either a steatlth or 14) from Amazon, since Razer does not ship to my country yet but from what I've seen so far, people have been complaining about how there's coil whine, dead pixels and in some cases the laptop would work for an hour or so then die. I mean, I could easily pick another laptop but I really want a razer blade because it's like a Macbook but with Windows and it's black!(Dumb reason, I know) so, what do you guys think? do you have any recent experiences with Razer's quality control?

This is something I've been contemplating for a while now, I've trusted ASUS for a long time running, but for the few years that trust is dwindling. I've had several bad experiences with their motherboards from bad north bridges, unstable boards, and sometimes straight up dead. And reviews of their boards are reflecting my views, on all the newer boards I see a large amount of reviewers complaining about stubborn boards refusing to operate correctly or just being dead out of the box. It's not a small amount either, some boards are having reviews like this up to 40% of the time. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

So I have heard a lot about the QC of razer laptops been shit. But I am wondering how long a blade 15 would last. I am interested in it I am not much of a gamer so most people would say get an xps or something else but I am more interested in the blade because of how thin it is(the xps is also thin), it's design and rgb and with a graphics card that is more powerful than what I need the GPU will be powerful enough for some years so do you think it is worth it the blade or QC will be an issue.

There has been a rise of reports of people having some serious issues with the screen quality of their Nokia flagship devices. Most reports refer to "half dead screen" issues on the Nokia 8 as little as days after the initial boot and yellow tinting on the screen on the Nokia 7 plus. My story is that i had to rma my Nokia 8 handset twice, first because of dead pixels out of the box, was quick enough thanks to the doa policy of my supplier and then after a couple months i had to warranty replace the logic board due to wifi and data not working at all and device getting super hot on my hand. Also many reports state that Nokia screens become unresponsive or register wrong inputs when the phone is pluged or layed flat. For proof and only of the dozens of issues reports i post bellow the according Nokia support forum and pictures of discord chats of the Nokia community. Most of the reported issues have to do with hardware problems such as, failing LCD flex cable connectors, failing motherboards, bad screen quality, uncured and rushed screen adhesive, bad headphone jacks and the list about hardware problems goes on without having to mention software issues that can be fixed. I think that awareness should be raised, because we are talking about expensive devices that come with the flagship sticker on them (nokia 8) and/or expensive midrange devices such as Nokia 7 plus, that try to exploit the former Nokia durability stamp of approval, but seem to lack the consistency of good and stable quality through user usage. Those issues should gain publicity and force HMD Global to take action and further investigate their QC problems.
