Hello everyone Sorry for my bad english. i am kinda new to mining. i am mining with my xeon x5670 @4.0 ghz and gtx 1060.. i am just mining with my 1060 since cpu mining is not an profitable. now the question is i am building a separate pc for mining.. my friend has an old q6600 pc.. now i am wondering can i use that and put a graphic card in it for gpu mining? i guess it should work because having a weaker cpu should not effect my gpu mining performance right? and it is good enough to run windows 10 . BTW i am using nice hash for mining.

Hi, I have a old EVGA 790i ultra sli mobo with a Q6600 laying around. https://www.evga.com/articles/389.asp The board has 7 pci slots so I was wondering if it could be used as a mining board with 7 gpus? or will the whole thing go up in flames? Is the bios missing any features needed for mining? Thanks x

Hey guys, i got this old C2Q Q6600 system and the thermal paste was completely dried and the temps were like 98-100 celsius while the performance was down to 70%. so i took the heat sink off and cleaned it and the processor nicely, then i applied the new thermal paste. now the temps were in higher sixties, but the benchmarks are now giving me lower scores and fps in games is lower too. can someone tell why this happening and what can i do about this? any help would be appreciated....

So I recently refurbished an old Q6600 PC. I added 4gb of RAM and a 1050 to it. When I tried to boot it gave an error code 06. I tried to troubleshoot thinking it was the graphics card, but nothing happened. I removed all added parts and it booted, so i tested each dimm of RAM and it would boot. Finally I came to the conclusion that it wouldn't boot with 8gb of RAM. I have a 1gb dimm of ddr2 and with all 4 slots filled with a total of 7gb, it magically booted. I have no idea what to do to get this thing up to 8gb of ram, i want to sell it for light gaming, but i would like to use 8gb in it rather than 7.

Edit: This will be used primarily for CSGO, OW, LoL I just bought this Dell Xps 420 for 60 dollars. It comes with a Q6600 clocked at 2.4GHz. It is missing RAM, harddrive, video card and cooler. What is my best bet (Part wise) to get this thing performing at its max, for the least amount? And did I get a good deal? Or did I rip myself off?

in a low budget (under £100) used pc, should i go with a core 2 duo at 2.67ghz for £15 or a core 2 quad at 2.66ghz for £25 including the motherboard (£13). the price is a big difference in a build with this low of a budget (10-15%). the core 2 duo would allow for a better gpu, or a non juryrigged cooler, or a better psu (the british used psu market is shit, any £20-£40 new psu reccomendations for old inneficient graphics cards?) Please advise on psu (anywhere but new please), cpu (i have 2 choices) and gpu (used, under £35 from cex, ebay for 1080p low or 720p gaming)

Hey guys. So i for some context my lan party pc is a sleeper, its a dell 3100 case with a dell 755 motherboard, q6600, 6gb ddr2 and a gtx 480. Now ive just finished my 480 loop that consists of an aquagrafx 480 block, no res (i use a T-Line), generic pump and a 120mm radiator. Now i thought that being a generic rad it would be usless but im getting 40c idle and max ive seen is 65c load which i think is quite good. Right now the problem: The 3100 wasnt designed for watercooling (suprise suprise) and ive got the 120mm rad mounted in the front with the stock 120mm fan behind blowing the warmed air... staight into the 755 cooler and im getting 50c idle and max 70c idle with 2 rear mount 80mm exhausts. I want to watercool the q6600 but ive no room to put another 120mm rad so my idea was to put 2x80mm radiators in the place of the rear mount exhausts (just to clarify the rads will have the 2x80mm fans on them not passive cooling). So after my massive explanation (sorry) do you guys think this would work and also would it be ok to T cpu and rads into the gpu loop or do you think a completley seperate loop.

Hey there, I'm looking to build my daughter a cheap PC to run some learning games and teach her typing (shes 5) I'm in Canada and can get a q6600 for 25$ on eBay, I was just wondering besides looking for a LGA 775 socket mobo. Should it have any other features? does it need to say it supports core 2 quad? some of the mobos I looked at don't specify and only support DDR ram. She's currently using a PC with Athlon 64 x2 4000 and its just really slow and laggy.

So I have an old Q6600 system and I was upgrading it to make it a gaming PC. I was looking for RAM through ebay and I came across this. http://www.ebay.es/itm/172565673990?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Would it work? What should I check for compatibility next time? Thanks a ton.

After upgrading an old q6600 pc with a 1050, it fails to display anything and the debug code so 06. In the manual, the code 06 is described as "reserved" and when I look at other code charts it says it has something to do with the graphics. I tested it again with the old card in it and it displayed the same code. I tested both cards on another PC and they both worked. Anything is welcomed. Thanks

Hey guys! I just wanted to know if a Dell TP412 motherboard could possibly be overclocked because I want to try boosting the clock speed of an old Q6600 to around 3.7GHz just for a project and for fun. If not, please do suggest a LGA775 mobo that can overclock. (Also, is a H100i v2 or h110i exteme sufficient for water cooling this grandaddy?)Thanks! P.S. DON'T TELL ME I'D BE BETTER OFF BUILDING A RIG FROM SCRATCH BECAUSE I ALREADY DID THAT A MONTH AGO! THIS IS A PROJECT!

I've been eyeing parts on Ebay for a super-cheap NAS/home server PC. I'm thinking right now of going with a Q6600, as it's cheap used and will fit my fairly minimal performance needs (just hosting a bot or two, Plex and a VPN as well as NAS functionality). I found a promising looking motherboard with everything I need, the Intel DQ45CB. A few questions: 1. Will I be able to OC it with this board? If not, what do I need for that? 2. If I go with a Xeon X3220 instead, which is basically equivalent to the Q6600, will I be able to OC that, or will it even work in the board at all? 3. What kind of temps am I looking at when overclocking a Q6600? Never used one before. Do I need a really beefy cooler?

It's a quad core with decent clock speeds. I just don't know about single threaded performance and whatnot. Would this preform good with VR?

I put an Intel Core 2 Quad 6600 into my HP xw4400 Workstation, and on boot I'm getting an "1801-Microcode Update Error", which apparently means the motherboard doesn't recognize the stepping of the CPU. Looking at HP's site after I did this, I discovered that this motherboard doesn't actually support the Q6600, however I can still bypass the error by pushing F1, and ignore it. Windows detects the CPU, identifies it, I can view all four cores in Task Manager, and all the temperatures of them in SpeedFan. It seems to be working fine. Only issue is the error on boot is annoying, and I'm worried it might cause a problem when upgrading to 64-bit Windows 7. How to fix?

Last September, I started to take interest in the PC world. I looked up benchmarks for everything from case dimensions to what RAID meant to how many frames the newly released GTX 1080 could push in the Witcher 3 at 4k. I was fascinated by all of this and I still am. I'd build a PC for myself, but I don't have the funds to do so. BACKGROUND INFO! In 2008-10 my dad bought a fairly nice at the time desktop XPS 630 PC. We used it for StarCraft and Ages of Empire with the occasional windows game. I had my Xbox to game on so I was happy (woe is me for my less than redeeming history). I began playing more games, at least more consistently around 2012. We got a 17" XPS Laptop "i7/ Nvda 6(4/6?)0M" that I could play games like Portal 2 or Planetside 2 to on, but because I didn't know about such a thing as "FrameRates" back then, I was happy. I started to notice how slow the laptop was and so I drifted more towards playing Xbox 360 or One games for the smooth experience. Recently my sister and I got Laptops (Lenovo Y700, i7 6600HK, R9 375M graphics(don't work but that's another problem)120gb ssd) for schoolwork and basic use, but I wanted to use mine for gaming. As I was learning about computers and their parts, I started to notice I couldn't play some of the games I wanted to play because I didn't have enough graphics power to push them. Instead of settling for under-par PC Gaming experience, I continue to use my Xbox primarily. TL;DR I WAS ENLIGHTENED BY THE PC MASTER RACE AND REALIZED MY PARTS KINDA SUCKED AND THERE IS SOMETHING OUT THERE BETTER THAN CONSOLE GAMING. XPS 630 Spex: Core 2 Quad Q6600 / 4gb ddr2 / Dual 8800 GTs / (Basic Setup as far as I know) / Dual 900p 60hz monitors A while back (2-4 years maybe) the computer died. We were able to solve the problem by installing a new instance of Win10 over XP. I stopped using this computer and mainly used the Laptop for my daily use. Years later (2016) I decided to open up the PC, research the parts and see if I could reboot it and see what it could do. When I connected everything together, I could get windows to boot, but there would be times when I would get a BSoD but with huge pixel-ated red lines down the monitor. I switched ports on the video card, and it seemed fine after the first boot, but on the second, it did the same thing. We tried all four DVI ports and all did the same thing. I concluded that the graphics card could just be dead, seeing how it is so old. I know that the new 1050 and 1050ti aremade almost for this purpose. Upgrading to one of these would allow my dad to do what he needs to do, and it would allow me to play the games I've always wanted to play on PC: Witcher, Doom, Skyrim. However, this PC is sporting almost a ten year old processor and only four gigs of ram. I don't think my gaming experience would be to great with that, and I also think that the lack of an SSD in the pc will inhibit my dad's productivity. TL;DR CRAPPY COMPUTER, VIDEO CARD DIED. COULD GET 1050(TI?) BUT 10Y/O PROCESSOR & 4GB RAM W/ NO SSD COULD HAMSTRING EXPERIENCE My dad is open to the idea of upgrading the video card, but does not like the idea of getting a new computer all together because of this argument: "It does everything I need it to (web/office/light gaming) and I doubt I would really notice the difference" MY OPINION RIGHT NOW: My stance is even a $450 G4560/RX 560/8gb Ram with an SSD, will run laps around the old computer with a noticeable difference. WHY I'M POSTING / MAIN QUESTION Is it time for us to just buy a new computer? If not, What parts should we upgrade? If we should get a new PC (I intend to build myself), how do I convince my dad of doing so? Sorry for the long post, but I trust this community and thank you for all of the help!

hello forum! I found a deal on a PC CPU: Q6600 RAM: 8GB ram DDR3 (4x2) GPU: hd5450 PSU: 600W power supply (corsair) HDD (not sure of capacity yet) keyboard, mouse, controller Monitor (1680 x 1050 60Hz) Windows 10 Antec 900 gaming case 6-year-old build AIM: mainly to game (not very demanding games. e.g. Overwatch, Skyrim) I know that I will need a better GPU if I get that PC. I'm considering a GTX 570 or similar (my budget on the GPU would be £50 MAX!) I currently have a 4-year old laptop, and it looks like a good deal I'm living in the UK right now What sort of test would it be nice to do (they said they can show it working)? (to test it's working under load) free ones please! THANK YOU!

Q6600 Won't Go Over 2.7GHz??!!?!?!!?
TechMasterMind posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I'm overclocking my q6600 with a very decent air cooler, but my issue is as I am using a dell the only decent tool I can use is 'nvidia ntune' and as soon as I go from 300 to 301 mhz on the base clock my pc stop working, its very stable at 2.7GHz and I even have the q6600 'G0' model. I can even get my ram latency's to roughly a third across the board so I doubt its ram based. Although my ram is ddr2 800mhz and I don't know how to get a 1:1 ratio (whatever that means, cpu base to ram base?) anyway ntune pretty much only allows me to change voltage, fan speed and base freq. Specs: nVidia 680i sli motherboard (dell) 8GB DDR2 800mhz RAM Q6600 G0 GTX 660 HDD, sound card etc.- 19 replies

So this is a thread i never thought i would ever make but i cant decide how to split up theese parts into computer and what to sell off ect... here are the parts : A few notes: The MATX P4 computer has a lot of family pictures i want off it because its a shitty PC and so i can re-use the case for the I5 680 + motherboard. The ATX computer is my dads current work PC so to do anything with that i would need to move over quite a bit of files. I dont know what formfactor or what motherboard im getting with my I7 because it was sent to me today and hassent arived yet but should do in a few days and thats also why there are two listings for 2x2GB DDR3 becauase i dont know what RAM it is but it could verry well be the same because the sticks i have are pretty common. Here was my plan but im not sure how good it is: 1 (Dads new work PC): 2 (LAN PC 4.0): 3 (Another candidate for dads work PC if the I5s motherboard dosent want to play nice): And then i basically sell off most the other parts. This is what i came up with but its pretty terrible, like why should i put the NH-D14 on a computer i might just sell off that feels like a waste because i just got it. Im really not sure how to divide up theese parts into computers or what to do, i have $65 to spend on new stuff so if you want to add something then thats the budget. Thanks for any replies and any help dividing up the parts

Ok basically i picked up a NH-D14 for cheap and seeing as it preforms basicallt identically to the Shadow Rock 2 i have in my main PC right now il be useing it for the LAN PC which right now has a Q6600, and seeing as this is an older generation processor then i am used to i want to know whats different for them, how much voltage they can handle, what settings to change, general rules, ect... all that stuff to try to get my Q6600 above 3GHz thanks for any help with this because im not used to anything older then a I5 2500K lol

Does a Ga G41 M combo Motherboard (https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-G41M-Combo-rev-13#ov) With Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad (q6600) Ram: 8 Gb DDR3 1333hz Psu: Cooler Master 450 PCI Express x16 slot, running at x16 Will my PC support Gtx 1050 or Gtx 1050 Ti ? Is My Motherboard Limited to 2 GB ram for Graphic cards ? Will it Bottleneck? I tried a Gtx 750 TI Oc 2Gb Graphic Card in my PC. It was working fine.

Hey, Thanks for visiting! So, let me set the scene for everybody to make this as clear as possible because im stuck for ideas. I have just finished building my Q6600 system with a HD 6850 and because i hated it, bought a GTX 970 Windforce Edition. Motherboard spat out either error codde 56 or 5b, no idea what it was because it could go either way, when my 970 was in so i recently ordered an XFX eForce 680i Mobo to hopefully diagnose this issue and let me have my 970 to make even CS:GO on my 900p moniter playable (slightly overkill upgrade for this game but hey, i got a nice deal). Assuming my new Mobo works great i might keep t for a while but if it doesn't I need a CPU upgrade path as im sure the 970 works as the windforce logo lights up but it freezes on the Abit BIOS screen (Forgot to mention my Current mobo im upgrading from is a Abit AW9D). Quite frankly my cpu is a huge bottleneck and i have no idea what is the best way to upgrade on a budget. As im 13 I hope to get alot of money from both Christmas and my Birthday (Who doesn't?) and i might be able to pull everything together to make a full CPU+RAM+Mobo upgrade on a fair budget. Pretty much all I want to know is what Intel and AMD upgrade paths are worth it over a Q6600 and what could work on a moderate budget but I really dont know what that budget could be. Thanks for reading this far and I would love a reply as im lost in what to do in my current situation.
