YOK Purple Trash Panda - The Scratchiest Tactile I've EVER Used
jiyeon posted a blog entry in Sowon's Switches Reviews
The YOK Purple Trash Panda is the tactile (and purple) edition of the YOK Trash Panda, a linear switch which is made to be a base in the Frankenstein switch, the Holy Panda. What sparked my interest about the YOK Purple Trash Panda - which I will be referring to as the Purple Panda - is that the product description across NovelKeys and mykeyboard.eu as well as other keyboard forums was that they described the Purple Panda as having the same actuation and tactility traits as the famous boutique switch, the Zealios V2. You can read my review of the Zealios V2 by clicking here. On the left is the Purple Panda's stem, and on the right is the Zealios V2's stem. At first glance, you really do see striking similarities between the two switches, such as the stem legs and the color. It's like YOK were intentionally replicate the Zealios V2 and it shows below. The main difference to both stems is the material, the Purple Panda is extremely rough to the touch as well as lubing, the material feels so unfinished and it's such a shame as it makes the switch so scratchy so use. I had to heavily lube the switch with Krytox 205g0 thick lube in order to solve the scratchiness and spring ping, and even then it didn't even rival an unlubed Zealios. The Purple Panda feels like it was sent one production line early and just isn't as polished as I feel it could've been. It's far too scratchy no matter what. If there's any redeeming qualities about the switch - which are minimal and already listed to begin with - it's that the tactility is awesome. The tactile bump at 67g feels great if not more sharp than the Zealios V2 at 62g and 67g weights. The Polar Panda's leaf in the housing is responsible for this trait which is why the YOK Panda line's switches, specifically the housings, are so sought after to create Holy Pandas. The housing is the best part of this switch unfortunately. I totally know what this switch is not best used as is and is best used to create the Holy Pandas, but I wanted to judge the switch as it is due to the fact that it is a purple variant of the YOK Trash Panda, and why would YOK create an alternate stemmed Trash Panda if the Panda housings are made to create Holy Pandas? Unfortunately in my use case, that's been answered by the fact that the stem is so scratchy and irritable that you shouldn't used these switches in the first place. It's not a bad switch by any means, and for the $0.60 per switch it retails for on your average mechanical keyboards online retailer, it's a great tactile switch that beats the Gateron Brown easily. The stand-out problem with these switches is how scratchy, unkempt, and rough the stem is, it pales in comparison to the Zealios V2 which is so what it tries to replicate, and falls flat on its face due to the low quality of the stem. Overall, it's a tactile switch that I'd take over an MX Brown, but nothing I would actively go after due to how rough and dry the switch feels to use. -

My roommate isn't much of a tech guy, but with some help he's built his first PC! (parts list here: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Wallaceman105/saved/NFRF8d) Due to some weird driver issues, it took us a while to get the lighting all synced up, but here it is! The goal was to get a clean, sleek look with purple on white, so we went with the NZXT H510, some T-Force white RGB dimms, and the ROG Strix 5700XT Usecase is light gaming with an autoCAD and modeling workload. PSU (and cables) will be upgraded to an RMX white from Corsair soon, so pardon the cables

paging Dr @Boogieman_WD December 2015 I bought a 1TB WD Purple to put it in my CCTV DVR this week I retired that DVR and replaced with a newer model that supports AHD cameras, not the point tho ... opened the old DVR and took the HDD out; I also noticed slight oxidation of the PCB and unscrewed the PCB from the HDD to clean it up with a eraser - WD HDD boards are notorious (for more than a decade) for oxidizing and it can go so bad that you will face data loss what I found baffled me: the micro-controller IC on the mobo has a thermal pad on it, the problem is that the protective plastic (red square) was still attached to the pad: removed it and placed it sideways to continue the cleaning not cool WD, not cool

Hey so i was wondering if anyone knew of a full tower that has RGB (wanting purple but also want a choice) i like the look of the Corsair Crystal 460X RGB ATX Mid Tower but i feel it might be a little too small as i want to see about getting a new AIO to put in at the top. I'll keep my R9 390 gpu but hope to upgrade after I see what the new Vega(i think its vega?) gpus can do later in the year. It doesn't need an optical drive slot but it would be a plus. I have seen the Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ATX Glass Mid Tower, i'm hoping for a full tower. Any help is appreciated as i've been looking for the past two hours and feel like i'm missing something.

Hey guys! So I've been working on this project for the past few weeks. For a bit of background my girlfriend and I are both college students and are rather broke. We love playing video games together but she was very limited due to her rather slow school laptop. That's why I set out to build something aesthetically pleasing for a very low budget. Which is were a lot of calls, friends, and connections came in.... First off I'll start with the case mod: Cutting Started: The Inspiration: Now.....here was our first mess up.....: Exterior Paint: Window hole is cut and paint has been added: Mid Post Refresher: Graphics Card: Motherboard: Led Wiring: God I Hope They Look Good Inside.... God Bless....Let's Start Putting Everything: Problem Solved!: Let's Start Her Up!: But I Got It! Final Photo: Altogether I'm very happy with this project and I can't wait to do one for my own case. Overall I spent under 150$ for everything. There were some mess-ups and it's not perfect but.....she loves it! Bonus:

I am currently in the planning phase of my dream build and I thought I go here to look for advice. My ideal color scheme is White and Purple with small black accents. Here is my current part list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/mty8Gf . I would prefer to not have to pay like $1000, for a monitor or something like that. I want the best within a decent price. If you have any ideas or suggested part changes let me know. I do plan to spray paint the inside of the case and some of the other components. Thanks! EDIT: My actual current list https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Y3g2JV EDIT: I am mainly looking for a cheaper white AM4 motherboard, a better white case with RGB LEDs that is not insanely priced, and better Headphones and Keyboard that are white with purple accents and/or has RGB LEDs.

When i play rust or any other games i can play for 30 mins or so but then the screen makes some items in the game turn purple or green. Other times it turns half my screen just black, i can make my guy face that direction but its just pitch black. Im running on rust on my NEW rx 580 nitro 8gb is it broken any fixes?

I lost another drive, this time a WD green. This is the first WD to go, much better than my track record with Seagate, so I will stick to WD for now. So I need a new WD drive. Question is which do I choose. WD changed their drive lineup a bit. My priorities are (in order): Reliability (replacing drives is more expensive than just buying a good one to begin with - I think), performance (balanced read/write), Low noise/vibration and lastly price. Use case: Short to medium term storage of high volume, small files (for photography business) in silent desktop PC. Might be moved over to a NAS at some point. So I'm considering WD red/gold maybe purple. If I'm correct (and please correct me if I'm wrong); reds will be great for the eventual NAS use-case, but are read-optimized, and will be slow in the balanced environment of my photo editing workflow (almost equal read-write operations). Purple again is write optimized. So what about Gold??? is seems like the perfect fit but is much more expensive. Is it really that much better in terms of reliability and performance, or is it just a "because I can"-overpriced kind of drive, or is it really worth it's weight in Gold? ~Blame Linus for the bad pun, he started it...~ EDIT: After some thought, I think a low latency will be more important than the read/write balance. Reliability remains the top priority.

So I kinda got a wild hair while browsing around micro center and randomly decided to throw together a mini itx living room streaming machine. And of course because it’s me and I must water cool all the things I went ahead water cooled it. This is only my second ever hardline tubing system and the loop was mostly cobbled together out of random parts I already had. System is an intel i5 7600k with 8 gb of gskill trident rgb ram, and am intel pro m.2 256gb ssd. All of that is sitting on an asus Strix z270i gaming motherboard, and inside an Inwin 301 case. Here are just a couple pics I took. There is no gpu since this will be primarily for streaming content and I have a main gaming rig that sits just 15 ft away that I will stream games from. If you have any questions about building in this case or anything please don’t hesitate to ask. I really enjoyed this one. Took me about 2 hours altogether.

Hello, Linus Tech Tips community! I have been scouring the internet for a 140mm, purple (true, rich purple – not pink) LED 140mm SWM (4-pin) fan. I am preparing to build a purple-themed PC using the purple and white NZXT H440, and I would like to replace the NZXT Kraken X62's 2 stock PWM 140mm fans with a decent pair that has purple LEDs. Corsair has a 140mm purple LED high static pressure fan that is meant for radiators (the SP140), but it is only 3-pin (not 4). That is the closest product that I have been able to find. I am not interested in configuring an additional RGB lighting profile to that of the Kraken, especially since my daily driver for work will be Linux (probably Manjaro but possibly another Arch-based distro). Besides, I plan for this PC to be purple and white exclusively (although not excessively – I will probably not paint over the inevitable black components). If purple LED fans do not exist that fit these specifications (140mm PWM), I simply will use a white pair (e.g., the BitFenix Spectre PWM 140). I suppose that could offer decent contrast with the bright purple LED strips that I plan to place inside the case, giving the complete PC a fun, multi-colored look. As an aside, any tips based on real-world experience with a Kraken (x-2 series: x42, x52, or x62) configuration similar to what I am planning would be appreciated. Thank you for the help.

Hello, so yesterday I was doing my homework on my laptop (Dell Inspiron i7559) and I noticed some discoloring on the screen near the bottom right corner. It was purplish yesterday but today it seems to have turned orange and has started spreading around the bottom of my screen. Any ideas on what this could be. It seems to be concentrated more near the bottom right corner.

Can I use WD Purple on on a low-powered NAS even though Purple drives are specific for NVR situations ? My requirement for NAS is to store/access large number of small documents from 2 personal computers ...

Does anyone know of any purple DDR4 RAM. I need 4-8 GB duel slot. I don't really care about much else, color is what I care about.

Hi all! Anyone have any recommendations of purple LEDS to compliment my Corsair AF120 Purple LED fans? Thought I could just use an RGB strip that I found on sale but sadly the purple is just pink Anyone had a hands on with the Bitfenix alchemy purple LEDs or have some that match a deep purple?

Hi guys first post here, I recently built my first rig using the following parts: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Wpw8kL And i got myself a new LCD monitor; ASUS VS207DE 20" one that strictly uses VGA as output. I built my rig along side the tech guy while he assisted me with the putting of the parts, did my first boot using his monitor, color and everything was just fine when we entered bios to check fan speed etc. I went home and got my rig set-upped with my new monitor ^ using the DVI-I to VGA adapter provided by EVGA to connect between my rig and the new monitor and realized that upon boot my whole screen even the Asus logo at the start's purple tinted. Initially thought it was probably my GPU's graphics issue so i went on to install my OS and then subsequently downloaded the latest drivers for the card online but nothing helped. Thought it was the monitor problem so i brought it back to the tech guy's place and got it checked by connecting the new monitor to his rig and everything displayed just fine; color resolution everything. I went to get an new DVI-I to VGA adapter thinking it could be the adapter's problem but problem persisted. I then tried to connect my graphics card to my home TV using my TV's HDMI cables and everything displayed smooth and just fine, color, resolution everything. At this point i googled and saw that if colors appear funny even before your system boots up, high chance that it could be the GPU's problem and looking at how the HDMI port worked, i am guessing the DVI-I port on my card is wrecked, or what other possibilities could it be that has been giving me this purple tinted screen? p.s Sorry if im a little longwinded, hoping to be as detailed as possible, was rly anxious about this new rig and this just had to happen.

So I'm going to start buying parts for my first build soon and I wanted it to be my own thing. The only issue is with the colours I wanted, there aren't many parts. My main issue at the moment is the RAM as I can't find good sticks that are purple (or black). I'm on a budget and technically this is over it already but this is what I have so far in hopes that some of the stuff goes down in bank holiday sales. http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/xAssassin124x/saved/#view=MMrhP6 If anyone can find different RAM or suggest any cheaper parts it would be greatly appreciated.

So my parents just bought this plant, im just curious about it but i don't know its name. anyone know?

It can be cherry blue too, and of course it can be one of those keyboards that can change to any color. Thanks! Oh! Preferably it wouldn't be too expensive.
