I am looking at upgrading my monitors. Currently, I have a 24.5" BenQ GL2580 and a 34" Samsung S34J55x. My BenQ is fine however my main monitor, the Samsung, doesn't have the best colours. I am undecided if I would like to upgrade my Samsung to a higher refresh rate and colour accuracy ultra-wide, keeping my BenQ as I tend to only use it for media playback or secondary content. Or going to a 32" monitor. This would be 2 32" monitors. I am undecided if 1440p is high enough resolution to be 'retina' or if 4k will be reasonably noticeable. (I don't pixel peep on the daily, but can tell 4k from HD etc easily.) I had thought about my left monitor being 60Hz 5-10ms refresh to be secondary and 100+Hz and <5ms response as my main to game and do most content on. Or even 2 good 27" panels. My workflow tends to be most of my work is done on my Samsung with only reference or a video on the BenQ. I do have a third BenQ in portrait but rarely use it. For the last month I have had it off my desk to clear some space so I do not need any more screen real estate, I need as much as I have now but not a need for more. Thanks.

I've acquired an old pc from a relative - Athlon II x2 250 (iirc) upgraded to have 8gb of DDR3 and replaced the PSU. TrueNAS Core has been installed on a 256GB SSD and I have two old laptop HDDs; a 1TB and 500GB. In setting things up and testing, one of these HDD died, and the other errored when trying to import it so I think using them is out of the question. What I want to achieve is a NAS that can be remote accessed and doesn't need to be on 24/7. (btw this is the first time doing this, so if im doing something stupid, then let me know ヾ(•ω•`) ) So what I need is some new drives - they can only be SATA 2.5"/3.5". Interms of data to backup, the current required capacity is around 750-850GB and will increase over time but idk how fast. The first question: HDDs or SSDs? In the UK, a 2TB HDD is around £45-50; 1TB SSDs can be as low as £35 (no cache probably QLC), or minimum £55 with cache; 2TB SSDs start around £70 (no cache probably QLC again). The second question: redundency? The answer is yes, but how to go about it? I'm assuming I should buy atleast 2 drives and use something like RAID 1? Ideally, I don't want to spend more than £100 on drives, but please let me know what you think would be most appropriate. Thanks in advance. kartelious

Hello all, this is my first time on the forum, so please bear with me if I mess anything up. TL;DR: Recommend me a high spec light laptop, or how/where to build my own first desktop. I've been using just my Lenovo X1 Extreme Gen 1 since it came out 4 maybe 5 years ago. i5 gen 8, 16gb 2666hz ram, 521gb ssd, 1060ti max-q gpu I was planning to upgrade to the next version of the same laptop (gen 6) since it would feature 13th gen pcu + 40 series gpu. However, there are rumors in the thinkpad community (never thought I'd say that but today's a lot of firsts it seems) that the line has been scrapped. I find this unlikely, but whatever. So I'm looking for one of two things: - A new high-spec laptop so I can just turn my current laptop into a personal server - My very first desktop! I'd then just use my laptop as a way to remote into the desktop when needed, or just use the laptop as is for non-high-performance tasks. A light, 15+ inch, very high spec laptop that's: reparable (x1 series has schematics, full parts list with modern equivalents added regularly) no num pad no glass screen - OR - My very first desktop! I have no idea what to even ask for, but if I go this route, budget is 3k+ Not even sure if I should go for Intel+Nvidia or AMD, I'm completely ignorant WRT desktops. Bonus: I've been watching LMG for a long time, several years, but I've never gotten around to posting or interacting on the forum. I mostly just watch WAN show and an occasional LTT video. I'm an electrical and computer engineer, so I know how all of this stuff works, but I'm completely ignorant to what it is I need and what the differences in the market are.

I'm in the market for an upgrade , i have a lg 25 Inch ultrawide i think its the 25um58-p (1080p 75hz) and i can't decide between the aforementioned g5 or the aoc cq27g2u. Both 1440p 144hz . I have a 2070 and a r5 3600 if yiu have any other recommendations , im open. Also do i need dp for hdr content on the g5 or the hdmi 2 is enough ? Thanks in advance!

I need 16GB of 1333 ddr3 RAM, but the current options seem way too expensive for what you actually get. Especially given that much larger and faster RAM in ddr4 and ddr5 exists currently while ddr3 is old. Is there anywhere to get ddr3 RAM for really cheap? Oddly, the server stuff is much larger and even supports ecc, but of course my main board doesn't support it.

BLUF: Ryzen 2600 + r9 Fury X + Cooler Master MWE Gold 650w. Need a replacement PSU to resolve intermittent shutoffs/PSU faults. As the title mentions, I'm putting together a secondary build (https://pcpartpicker.com/user/NaClKnight/saved/M6YHWZ). It may eventually be sold to a friend or family member, and I'd like to ensure there's a non-bomb PSU inside. I'd purchased the Cooler Master MWE 650+ Gold off the strength of a few reviews but it's begun shutting down seemingly at random, and each shutoff requires me to flip the rocker switch on the PSU, meaning that the PSU has engaged one of its safety mechanisms. I've further confirmed this by switching to my old 1000W Lepa Maxbron, which doesn't suffer the same shutoffs. While I return/RMA the MWE, are there any reputable PSUs that'll fit this build (600-700W should provide enough headroom for overclocking) under $65 available in the USA?

Im looking for a good cheap 144hz monitor and I immediately found this monitor. Right now its going for $150 (Refurbished) on amazon. I've heard its got some gamma issues, is it worth it?

hi , I'm new here and I want to get to upgrade to better headphones , currently I'm undecided between the hifiman he4xx , sennheiser hd6xx and the beyerdynamic dt990 pro , I'm currently not planning on purchasing an amp , I'm a heavy user , mainly watching very HQ media on my phone and laptop for long periods of time , I currently have closed back headphones , I have never listened to open back ones , I care mainly about the sound , and the like 10% about comfort , but I'll prefer headphones that sound the best rather than the most comfortable. thanks in advance.(btw , I'm from Israel).

I'm looking to get a new monitor for both gaming and a workstation. I am mainly searching for a monitor that is IPS curved around the 34'' mark QHD since the size of the screen is big and i will need it for work more then gaming 144hz is a big bonus but not a must note first that availability and prices in my current residence is not that good(shipping is a bad option as well). However I did find a good deal on LG 34UC79, but i backed off when i found out its only FHD. I'm currently on the search for something like LG 34UC88 or 98 after checking some online reviews as they seem to be good monitors. What other models would you recommend to me in the specs i have listed? workstation is more important then gaming.

I am now working from home and on a Windows 10 laptop for like 10 hours a day. I need something where I can read long documents on the screen without any issue as I easily get headaches from fuzzy/non-crisp text. I'm driving it with a few different laptops (MacBook Pro 15" early 2017, Surface Laptop 2 (will add docking station depending on 2 2k or 1-4k setup)). I also have an Xbox One S may update that to 4k if I actually got a true 4k Monitor. I'm on a single ASUS VG248QE 24" Full HD 1920x1080 144Hz 1ms HDMI Gaming Monitor now, and I'm getting headaches as it's not flicker free, and it is PWM. I need tons more screen real-estate for work. I can't look at this thing 10-12 hours a day. I play mostly RTS, some WoW, strategy games, so nothing that I need incredible FPS on. I'm really torn as I want a fast 4k IPS but just not sure they exist. I went to Microcenter today and the sales guy recommended one or two Acer XF270HU 2560x1440 IPS screens.. I looked at and everything looked good, but the display didn't show text crisp at all... it was very fuzzy (yes, I checked 100% native resolution, so no scaling). Anyone else have this issue with this monitor especially at $330/each I thought that was a pretty good deal for a 2k IPS half-way speedy monitor for gaming. They also had an LG 27UK650-W 27" 4k monitor for $399 on sale. Loved the look of the crisp text on screen but not so sure it's going to game well... Just might need 2 of them as I want tons of screen real estate. I sit usually 24" from the screen but could adjust that a bit as well. Looking at the BenQ EW3270U and the BenQ P3200U as well - just not sure that they will perform enough for gaming.... and haven't seen one in person either. Or do I get in line for the 27UK850-W like everyone else? So many options, but none of them seem "perfect"... I'm willing to spend $ as I spend so much time in front of the monitor(s). I'm not crazy about curved screens or wide/ultrawide. Help me resolve the "struggle"! Thanks!

I know you guys must be pretty tired of these posts, but I'm in the market to buy myself some speakers. My budget is around 300-400 USD, and as an audio noob I don't really know which are the best in this price range. So, basically, what are the best 300-400 USD speakers? Appreciate the help, guys.
