Budget (including currency): $2000-2500 CAD Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: 1. Engineering: SolidWorks, rendering, 3D Printing, G-Code professional stuff. 2. Games (non-competitive): Marvel's Spiderman, SW Battlefront 2, GTA 5, Red Dead Redemption, etc. 3. Music Production (casual), Photo/Video Editing (casual). 4. Also watching movies with a DVD/Blu-Ray player! Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Brand new PC, I come from "playing" on laptops lol. I want my own professional PC that I will use for hopefully a long time! 1440p with smooth FPS (60+) is nice, but 1080p with high settings and good FPS (80+) is fine by me! I am a beginner, I'm trying to catch up on the whole playing games stuff and PC building stuff. My monitor is a 1440p 144hz capable one. I have no ethernet/LAN, so I always pick MoBos with Wifi included, as buying a Wifi card separate costs around the same money, yet is less reliable. Hey everyone! I am an engineering *student* XD, and I've saved up some money to find be able to do the things I've wanted to do for a while. As you can see by now, I'm new to this whole PC building thing, and I'm kinda at the crossroads here. Brief, I don't know if spending, honestly relatively speaking a bit more, yet still a significant amount, for a maybe uselessly stronger PC is worth it. Here is my build, the most expensive version of it: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/TV9F4M It has a Ryzen 5 7600x and a RTX 4070, and DDR5 6000mhz RAM, and for all things considered, the whole build has a lot of discounts thanks to Black Friday stuff. It's around $2500 CAD. The thing is I made an alternate "budget" version of the PC where I use a AM4 chip motherboard, DDR4 Ram, a Ryzen 5 5600x CPU and a RTX 3060ti. It's around $400-500 cheaper at $2000, and here it is: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/Tubalcain-01/saved/Hw63RB I even made a version where I use the AM5 motherboard, the same CPU, the same everything-- except for the GPU, instead of the expensive $750 4070, I use the $420 RTX 3060ti instead, and it runs for around $2100 dollars. Basically, what CPU and GPU pairing do you guys think I should go for? Also, how's the build overall? Anything overkill or stupid or not cost effective? I am now a Power User by any means, however I want this PC to be future proof as possible and able to play the stuff I said above, and do the engineering design work, rendering and photo/video editing. What should I do based off the prices and components I've listed? Thank you all so much!! I am in desperate need of help, and I am so glad to have a way out!

Atm im wondering how I can spec out a desktop to beat or match a 13900hx + 4080 laptop for £1900 give or take £50 including a colour accurate monitor (was budgeting £250 but maybe less if there is a good monitor worth it).... right now im looking at a 7900x and 4070 for the system with the possibility of a 7950x and whilst I have looked at intel the price, heat and power consumption seem to be a bit high not to mention the lack of an upgrade path later down the road.... (Ik AMDs word is questionable but if the system even got 2 gens of cpus out the socket that would be great) also minimum ram would be 32gbs Essentially, this is a system that needs room to grow into so needs to be "future proof" to an extent as the amount of power needed will grow day by day as projects become more complex. Thanks for the help in advance, Lex.

Why they are selling the CPU at different prices? What's the difference? Shall I go for the cheapest? (Region UK) https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/DhVmP6/intel-core-i9-13900k-3-ghz-24-core-processor-bx8071513900k TLDR I am moving to a new place this October. I want to build my first desktop. I am definitely going for 4090 (ti ?) and above. So I need a good CPU, preferably with an onboard GPU so I can wait for the release of 4090ti. Initially, I was thinking 13900KS, but good people talked me out as the little performance increase does not worth the extra money compared with 13900K. When I was about to make the order, I found out there are variations in prices among different retailers. I heard that you can get CPU from some retailers cheaper as it doesn't come with the original package. But as in the link that I posted above, all of them seem to come with the package and proper warranties. So I am confused. What should I do now? In addition, since I am moving to my new place this October, shall I (not) buy the parts now? Is it possible that any parts get cheaper after 2-3 months? (For example, after the 14th Gen releases) Thank you people. SpaceHunter

Is it typical to pay over $500 USD a year for support on a firewall? 3 years ago, our church got a new firewall (Fortinet FortiGate 60E). The purchase price also included 3 years of support from the manufacturer to keep the firmware up to date. Now we're being asked to pay $550 a year or $1680 for a 3 years of support. I was not aware that firewalls are using a subscription model. Some context: Our church runs ~350 a week. We don't have any servers, NAS. Just typical consumer devices (phones, computers, smart TV's.) on a basic network with a main and guest Wifi and some VLAN's for our phone system. Our IT is managed by a 3rd party (Powernet) who is sending us the bill to pay. Is this a typical price or are there better alternatives I should look into? Thanks very much! -David

I’m attempting to build a PC in Australia, and have recently noticed that almost all GPUs are marked up by at least $200-300 from the Australian prices. Flagship cards such as the 4090 are marked up by upwards of $600. (This is all based on MSRP, so things are further escalated by board partners) My first thought was import taxes being different, or companies having to pay GST (10% Tax) when importing items with a customs value over 1000 AUD, but these numbers are to big to be explained by differences between Australian and US taxes. Does anyone else have these problems in countries outside the US?

WOW THATS REALLY A DEAL In consider of the calculate performance titan v gives. if the shipping doesn’t cost much that’s really a great card for homelabs

Anyone notice how the price for used steam controllers has been climbing, or how the prices for NIB/factory sealed ones are going for the hundreds typically? Do you imagine this is foreshadowing a possible return (not necessarily by Valve, but by someone who realizes the value of a controller that acts more like traditional mouse and keyboard and its appreciation by the market at large)? Maybe it's just the fact that it's discontinued, but it's interesting nonetheless.

I am looking to replace my 7 year old PSU. My case has an unusually short PSU bay and my spare RM750x v1 does not fit with all the cables attached. I am looking to get a Seasonic Focus. However I feel the prices of these things aren't right. I knew someone bought a Focus Plus Gold on sale for $50Cdn in 2018. The platinum version was also on sale for around $80Cdn. The GX-550 today on newegg costs $110 and the PX-550 costs $125. Are these scalper prices? What do these units normally go for before the shortages?

As I'm upgrading my pc cabinet with newer parts, I'm currently interested in offering the mentioned parts here for sale. I assure that my pc is in a good running condition with these parts, overclocking not done and I've never used the GPU at peak performance. 1.msi gaming-5 Z97 motherboard LGA 1150 socket 2. Intel i5-4440 @3.1Ghz 3. msi GeForce GTX 960 2gb 4. Transcend 1600 mhz 8 gb DDR3 RAM - 1 stick. How much value will these have? I'm in India, should I sell in India or ship outside? (With everything attached to the mobo) I just wanna sell these parts to be used by somebody and I'm looking for a nominal price. Runs games like witcher 3, GTA V at low-medium graphics at good frame rates. To sell these, what details should I post other than Nvidia screen recording, photos of the components, dxdiag...what else will be useful for showing the condition of these parts? For India, which platform will be good for selling? (Please note - All these parts are almost 6 years old now, I don't have any of the receipts or boxes.) All the mentioned parts were purchased around April 2015 (India).

Hi, After finally acquiring the funds to build a high end pc I am now yet again wondering if I should wait a a few more months before I purchase? I had intended to purchase a 5900x and 3080 / 3070 but of course Covid 19, crypto, new manufacturing processes etc have raised prices and driven stock into the ground. All the GPUs in the UK are sold out, like most places and AMD's 5900x is priced at a whopping £650 (if you can find it in stock) along with the 5800x priced at £420 - £450 (yet again, if you can find it). Is there any hint or potential hope of pricing going back to reasonably inflated prices within the next few months? I expect to pay more than msrp, of course, since both Zen 5000 series and RTX 3000 series are relatively new but the current pricing is insane Hope this makes sense xD, i'm incredibly tired haha, Thanks for the help, stay safe, Lex

Budget : 2000 € ? As long as its good price performance, I don't mind going over but still lower is better. Mobo: Can I go cheaper ? Do I need the USB C front header ? Would like sort of good audio but I think that's almost standard these days. CPU Fan: do I need an aftermarket fan ? I don't plan to Overclock at least not from the start. GPU: depending on price / availability would go for 3070,3060 or 3080 if its priced so that I can keep my kidneys. RAM: do I need 32GB ? PSU: don't care as long as its efficient and quite when It can be. zero DB mode is a big plus. M.2: is 2TB worth it or not that crazy of a thought. ? HDD: go full SSD instead ? I currently make do with 2TB but might be nice to not have to swap game installs. Case: Can I go cheaper ? Any and all help is more then welcome ! Thanks !

Hello all, I recently upgraded by PC build and sold my old setup on eBay. The buyer has requested a return due to "drastic frame drops and crashes in Valorant, Roblox, and Minecraft" as well as "rapid beeping when screen-sharing on Discord." Could this be an issue with RAM that is not properly seated, dead, or encountering a static issue? The problem must have occurred during shipping, as it was working fine before. Here are the system specs: AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz CPU MSI NVIDIA GTX 1060 3GB OCV1 GPU 16GB ADATA DDR3 RAM (2x 8GB) Asrock 970M Pro 3 Motherboard 500 Watt Allied Power Supply 120GB SATA SSD 1TB SATA HDD Windows 10 Oh and one last question, how much would you recommend I sell this for? Would it be best to part-out? Thanks a ton! -A1

I was going through Intel's PC challenge discord and the rewards for the challenge are their ARC GPUs along with merch and Xbox game pass. With those are listed their ARV (approximate retail value). So if we subtract the mech and membership, we know that the "premium" arc GPU will be $800 USD (900 ARV - 6 months Xbox game pass ($40) - arc merch (~$60)) and the "performance" arc GPU will be $620 (700 ARV - 3 months Xbox game pass ($30) - arc merch (~$60)) This can all be found in #xe-hpg-scavenger-hunt in the discord below https://discord.gg/PeQJxnx2 Note: This was posted on November 9th, 2021, the prices may have changed.

I want to sell my GPU and CPU as a combo, my CPU is a Ryzen 3 5300G, paired with a OEM NVIDIA GTX 1650 Super 4GB version. im planing to sell these together and some other stuff i have lying around separately, what im planing to do wiht the money invest in a better GPU and settle down with a 1st or 2nd gen Ryzen CPU. since i only do light gaming, for example minecraft, old call of duties, and sometimes roblox with the boys, but i rarely do any heavy gaming, i play Forza Horizon 5, GTA 5, and rarely some Hitman 3. Im not doing or planing to do any CPU intensive activities or workload any time soon, so i guess might as well save some room for more GPU power. I understand that depending what GPU and CPU i choose there might be some bottlenecks in the system, i already have this on mind and plan to do some extensive research on what combinations work along together. i am thinking of selling the combination at a aproximate of $600 USD, i have little to no knowledge of how much the Ryzen 5300G should sell for, adgnloding that its an OEM only CPU and was canceld to be sold seprately by AMD, but i image around the price of a Ryzen 3 3300X. knowing that the 1650 Super used has a aproximate price of $300 to $400 USD (depending on the version) i guess this is a proper price.

So my current gpu (RTX 2070 Super Founders Edition) is starting to have issues and I’ve been wanting to upgrade for a while now so I’m finally pulling the trigger. However I cannot decide which gpu to get. I play at 1080p. I will be buying from a scalper because I don’t really have a choice. My two options are an RTX 3070 Ti Founders Edition for $900 cash, or an EVGA FTW3 Ultra Gaming RTX 3080 Ti for $1700. I can afford the 3080 Ti but I’m having a hard time justifying spending that much on a graphics card. I do want to point out that the MSRP of the EVGA card is $1430 so it’s a $270 markup, and the 3070 Ti is $600 so it would be a $300 markup. What are your guys thoughts on which one I should get?

Is this GPU a good deal? I found it on eBay. It is an RX 5500XT, it is an HP OEM 5500XT. It is priced at $350, and is the cheapest 5500XT I found. I know it’s double the MSRP, but I mean a 5500XT brand-new is $700-1000 right now, so is it really the worst deal in this market? eBay link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/115133766475?hash=item1ace81db4b%3Ag%3Ag-AAAOSwWMVhb9MK&LH_BIN=1 I was looking at a GTX 1080 FE, but it was $500 and I heard the 5500XT is more powerful. So in conclusion, should I get it?

Is this vendor legit??? https://rigfurbished.com/index.php/product/refurbished-tuf-gaming-geforce-rtx-3080-graphics-card-new-condition/ Tuf RTX 3080 Refurbished (probably used for mining) $740.21 and in stock... considering used ones are going double that on ebay... smells fishy, but man I want one... and that's a price I would pay... If they are legit, probably screwing myself by posting this as they will sell out before I can pony up and get one... Sigh... I hate this chip shortage.
