  1. im currently looking to upgrade my my since its incredibly outdated. i looked online and found a "G5 Intel i5 13600KF GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Gaming PC 55653" from https://www.umart.com.au/product/g5-intel-i5-13600kf-geforce-rtx-4070-ti-gaming-pc-55653-74682. its 1,758.82 USD ($2600aud) and it looks good to me but i know very little about pc parts and their value. is this pc good or even decent value? i tried comparing to other pre built pcs but struggled and failed to find any. ive only ever used nvidea gpus but care more about value so if ryzen pre-built pcs are better value rn then im happy to get one of them. (also im not willing to pay more then 2600aud/1758usd)
  2. I need help to pick which prebuilt I will purchase so which do you guys think would be best for performance both build are on Jawa and they both cost 560
  3. For price reasons i got myself a prebuilt (i saved a couple hundred bucks this way). I got a Ryzen 5 5600x and a 3070 from Gigabyte, 16gb of RAM (3600MHz 18CL ripjaws), the motherboard is a GB B550M DS3H, the PSU is a 80 gold 750W from Gigabyte as well. The thing is, its been a while since i've been up to date with the tech news and tips so i dont really know what i should check, like BIOS settings that should or shouldn't be enabled, hardware that might have flaws from assembly (i checked if everything is plugged and working, and that seems fine, im asking about more advanced things i should look for maybe. So what should i know, what should i check?
  4. Come along as i upgrade my pre-built! (and maybe give me some tips) UPFATE: Cooler Master Hyper H412R - Does not work without removing the original back plate which is unfortunately also screwed to the CPU socket in some way. Enermax LIQMAX III - Doesn also not work because of the back plate. For now i only applied some ARCTIC MX-4 thermal paste and made sure the stock CPU cooler is screwed on tight. I'll make sure to add some number later. Besides looking for other options to mount a new cooler i'm working towards getting the cheapest possible AND usable motherboard and PSU replacement.. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Let's start with what i have: My pre-built Acer Predator Orion 3000 - PO3-630 has a "kinda shitty" but okay CPU, a pretty good GPU, an okay amount of memory and i guess something like a PSU.. i7-11700F Intel CPU cooler RTX 3060 Ti (Some kind of Acer Predator card with a blower style cooler) 2x 8GB HyperX Fury DDR4 3200 Enough SSD and HDD 2x FrostBlade 2.0 case fans Now let's see what i plan to do: First of all i have to get rid of the Intel CPU cooler, even for a low power i7 it's just not enough. I already have an AIO ready for when i upgrade the whole PC not long from now but i still have to do some things until then. Intel CPU cooler is getting exchanged for a Cooler Master Hyper H412R. It's more than enough for the now and it's getting exchanged tomorrow (18. January 2022) i'll update here . This will make a really big difference since the downwards Intel CPU cooler makes the whole case into a hotbox, which makes the loud case fans ramp up and the GPU not so comfortable as well. (The new thermal paste will make some difference as well, heard it's applied badly from the factory.) I'll get another 2x 8GB memory i guess, unless someone has something really bad to say about HyperX Fury 3200 8 GB? I think this will be all i'd do before going for the full upgrade. I'll be happy with the GPU and memory for a while, i worked the last 6 years with a fraction of what i have now so i'll make it another 6 with this. Now let's see if this is a good idea: If everything goes as planned i will make a whole new PC in about 6 to 8 months. At this point i will need a new case, obviously. With the new case i'll get some really nice and quite case fans, i guess something Noctua. A new motherboard is a must. The limited connection on the PO3-630 are like building a PC with a car battery connected to your hands, not good. Now i'm not sure where to go. Do i upgrade the CPU? I could go for the newest and best of course. Why not go for DDR5 while i'm at it? Well, i will not be able to afford this so forget about it. I will be on a budget so it would be ideal to stay with the i7-11700F. I mean this baby has 8 cores 16 threads, 2.5 GHz base clock and 4.9 turbo. All the games i've tried work just fine with it and some light Photoshop worked excellent. I'll be working with Capture1 and Premiere Pro for my second job so i hope this will work just as good.. Do any of you have a good reason to not stay with this CPU? Let's get back to the list. (Please just act like there's a 4. in front of this text) Now i feel like i need a new PSU, you know, with mostly the same parts as before (I have to stop making those stupid jokes). I'm thinking about a 750W or 800W, with what i have and what i'll add i think that's enough. (5. you know what to do) It's time for the AIO. In my infinite wisdom i bought an AIO before checking if it will fit anywhere in my current case... Because of that i bought a single 120mm AIO, this one to be exact: Enermax LIQMAX III .. I know it can be enough and i'm not afraid to re apply thermal paste once a year to keep everything performing as it should so i guess i'll stay with it? I guess this is it. Did i forget something important? Would you do something different? I know this post was probably overkill with how i did id but i did not find much on upgrading the new Predators so i thought i'd start with something. I'm thinking about making a video of the upgrade process and maybe adding some Benchmarks once i figure out how to properly log them..
  5. Yea, just like the title says I'm looking into selling my current PC to help finance getting a pre-built just so I can get my hands on a 3080. I've never sold old pc hardware before so I don't know what is standard, but I figure 50% of retail is more than fair. But would still like other people's opinions on if I'm asking for to much, or am I actually asking for to little. Would be asking for $600 CAD, breakdown of price is below Ryzen 5 3600: $150 MSI B450-A PRO: $50 2x8GB DDR4 Patriot Viper: $30 Gigabyte Windforce GTX 1080: $300 NZXT H440: $30 EVGA 650W PSU:$30 512GB ADATA SU800: $20 Budget (including currency): TBD Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: I play a large variety of games, anything from Bind of Isaac, to Destiny, the recently released God of War pc port Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

  8. As the title says I'm currently trying to update my pre-built computer's discrete GTX 1060 3gb to a Radeon RX 580 but I don't know if my 500 PSU is good enough. I ran some PSU tests and Newegg said I needed about 493 watts, while others said I need around 430-460 Watts. only thing I've done to upgrade it so far is I added a 1TB SATA SSD. Any help would be greatly appreciated! My specs: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05389962 Picture of my PSU below. (Sorry if this is in the wrong Forum)
  9. I bought a computer from Ibuypower on 04-14-2021. I still don't have a working computer, and it doesn't look like I'll have one this month. I figured I'd share the story, since if I had read this story on here before purchasing, I wouldn't have done it and would have been better off. Sorry in advance for the long story, hopefully someone finds it useful. I was looking into building a pc myself for the first time, after some research I found due to the price of GPUs being so high, I was looking at saving at least $500 getting a prebuilt with the same card I wanted. So I got the pre-built. The computer arrived about a month and a half later. After unboxing and setting up I turned it on. Fans lit up and looked cool, but my monitor stayed black. It wouldn't post. Sad but it happens, just bad luck I suppose. Ibuypower says they test the computers thoroughly before shipping, and I think that's probably true. It likely got damaged during shipping. As a former FedEx employee, I can tell you with certainty that every computer sent through them has a really rough ride. I've seen more computers than I can count fall off belts, get crushed by larger boxes, getting thrown across the building by disgruntled employees, and the containers they are put in get banged around like you wouldn't believe. I'm impressed that any computers actually still work after being delivered. Ibuypower uses one of the slowest shipping options available, as most prebuilt companies will since it's cheaper. However you get what you pay for. The longer a box stays in the system, the more times it's handled, stacked, dropped, getting wet, mis-sorted, and likely damaged. It's not just FedEx, UPS has the same problems, and most of the USPS goes through FedEx or other airlines anyway. So it's the same thing there. For that reason alone a prebuilt isn't the best option. I've called Ibuypower tech support a number of times, and I've never had them pick up within an hour. (credit where it's due the regular customer service line is faster) First time I called I was on hold for 2 and a half hours. Not particularly great customer service from that alone, maybe they are understaffed. Anyway, after going through their troubleshooting guide video while on hold I reseated the ram, tested it, reseated the gpu, tested it, and removed the cmos battery and replaced per their recommendation, nothing worked. When they finally picked up I told them what was going on and they offered to replace the GPU. I said sure. I sent mine back, got the new one, and installed it. Still wouldn't work. After calling again and waiting again, we did some trouble shooting and managed to get the bios open, which was an improvement. It still wasn't working though, so tech support recommended re-installing windows. It was going to take a while to download on my old laptop, so we hung up. I re-installed a couple times with no luck, windows still wouldn't run. I called back again, and they eventually offered to replace the hard drive. I sent the hard drive back, got a new one, installed it, re-installed windows. Still didn't work. All that takes a long time, weeks for things to be shipped and processed every time. I called again the day after replacing the hard drive and told them I wanted them to take the whole thing back to fix it. On 7-13-2021 I sent it back. Today I got an email that they had received the computer but apparently they found a bug in the box... they included a picture which showed a bug on a piece of foam. I can assure you there were no bugs in the box when it left, my place is pretty clean, and I had just had the case open when I boxed it up. I can also assure you that there are a lot of bugs in FedEx warehouses, it's obvious where it came from. Here's what they emailed me. "This email is to inform you that your RMA for PC system was received, unfortunately we are unable to process it in its current condition. The box was opened and we discovered the system had bugs (roaches). Due to our return policy, we cannot process it as received. The system will be returned back to you. However, you can still reship it to us but you would need to thoroughly clean the unit of any bugs and we would be happy to assist in the return. The same RMA number will still be eligible, but you will be responsible for shipping. If you have any questions or concerns you can reply to this email directly." I replied to that email and then called to ask them not to send it back. Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't understand why that's my responsibly, or why they can't throw the bug away and just fix it. I asked for a return since this is taking way to long. They told me it's outside the return window and they will not refund me. Again, maybe I'm missing something. Isn't the return window meant so if a customer turns on the computer and isn't happy with the performance, or changes their mind for whatever reason they can still return it. I didn't get that return window, I've never been able to use the computer and see how it ran. Now I don't have a computer or my money, and won't see either any time soon. With the benefit of hindsight I've learned a couple things. 1, Just don't buy a pre-built. I've re-assembled a large portion of the computer during troubleshooting at this point, really there isn't much left to learn to do. I've worked on my own computer before doing upgrades, never broke anything and it worked fine after. Only thing I've never done is install a cpu, looks pretty straight forward to me. If in doubt there's youtube videos on everything, like LTT of coarse which I've learned a lot from. Even if I do break something while building myself, I can learn from it and be able to replace the parts myself in a timely manner. 2. Computers are obviously rather delicate, and shipping a fully built pc with all the parts free to rattle around is just an inherently bad idea. Even with the foam they put in to support the gpu, after looking in the top of the case, it's obvious it doesn't do as much as you'd think. 3. If your prebuilt doesn't work on arrival, strongly consider just getting your money back while you still can, and just buy another one, or be smart and build yourself. Even if it's a simple fix. Better than waiting months and no longer having the option to return. 4. Ibuypower customer service isn't very good. Even if it's just bad luck the pc didn't work, and even worse luck that the problem wasn't the gpu or hard drive. They still take forever to answer the phone, their return policy doesn't cover you if your pc doesn't work and takes them months to fix. I'm sure they have sold plenty of computers that worked great, but when something goes wrong and you need help, they aren't very pleasant to deal with. I hope this is helpful to someone. Not saying there is anything wrong with the people at Ibuypower, I'm sure they tried. There are a lot of logistical nightmares involved with selling shipped pre-builds, and in this case Ibuypower did not overcome the challenges.
  10. Corsair pre-built What is your guys overall opinion on this for a first pc?

  12. Hi guys. A guy near me is selling a Fujitsu Esprimo (I believe P920 for the images) for around 100 euros. It has an i5-4460, 8GB ram and I think a 500GB SSD. I have a GTX980 and a corsair PSU laying around. My question is: could I just easily replace them? I'm worried about the PSU mainly. For the looks of it, the Fujitsu seems to come with a proprietary PSU, can I just switch with my Corsair? The board also seems to be modified, can I use my standard PSU cables in there? Thank you. Edit: photo taken by the seller:
  13. Hey, I am kinda new to the PC building world. Anything I know about PC's is stuff I learned from the last 4 years worth of Linus' videos. I am looking into upgrading my pre-builts memory and was wondering what the best (kinda cheap) RAM I could get was. I'm currently looking at 2x8GB sticks and was looking at Crucial and HyperX Fury. I was wondering if there was any config I should know about and does anyone have any suggestions about other brands of RAM. Any help is great.
  14. So my friend has an HP prebuilt as his PC, exact model is the HP 570 P024D specs: i5-7400 8GB DDR4 GT 730 product page He wants to be able to play games on it, it would be easy to say to just slap in a GPU and call it a day but this is where I hit my PC knowledge limit, he has a 180W psu in there. We were planning to have a GTX 1050 ti or a 1650 super in there but due to low wattage, it didn't really happen. The question is if I can just slap in a regular ATX PSU in there with no problems. The PSU in there is a "180 W uATX aPFC internal power supply" I have never heard of a uATX psu, only of ATX, and mATX, etc., plus I dont really know much about them. Any help would be appreciated!
  15. First time poster here! I read the rules but I may have missed some so if I am in the wrong category or this is a resolved issue simply point me in the right direction! Here is a link to the PC that I have but I will also list specs: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-desktop-amd-ryzen-3-series-8gb-memory-256gb-solid-state-drive-jet-black/6366134.p?skuId=6366134&ref=212&loc=1&extStoreId=945&ref=212&loc=BM01&gclid=CjwKCAiAirb_BRBNEiwALHlnDx5gHS33dn5Gckve0L-xu4zAef8avZ6-U_n1L9nUCgub9aKyvdTBHhoClsgQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds Ryzen 3 3200g 8gb 2666 DDR4 256gb NVMe boot drive 500gb sata HDD (added by yours truly) 180W HP proprietary PSU "Erica2" Motherboard (HP proprietary B550A chipset) I bought this PC for $175 from a guy that just wanted to get rid of it, but I am struggling to sell it as is, and so I would like to give it more beef so that I could just be happy with it. I am looking to add either a GTX 960 or 970 to make it a proper gaming machine (and I can get one of them for cheap). I can "physically" fit a standard ATX power supply in the case, but HP has their stupid proprietary 7-pin connector "PWRCMD" (pictured below). I read on another forum post (also linked below) that I theoretically could short or otherwise mod this connector to allow it to work. Has anyone done this or know how to do this? I would like to make this PC a little more worth having without spending much. Any help is appreciated!
  16. A while back I bought a pre build "gaming" pc from Amazon. I should note it was refurbished although when I got it it seemed to work fine. The thing is an inspiron 5680 I7-8700 16gb ddr4 ram Gtx 1060 3gb 8F6C9T is the service tag if you're curious about specificly everything in it but it wont matter much for the question I think. Long story short I gotta put my dunce cap on. I know better than to plug so many power hungry things into 1 strip especially one that also powers my pc. Yet that is what I did. As I replaced a set of rechargeable batteries on a charger plugged into said strip I heard an audible pop and smelled that dreaded electrical heat smell. Now when I open it up and get a look nothing looks damaged although I was able detect a faint smell coming from the psu. I could still smell it by the gpu as well but I'm hoping that's just because its so close to to the real source. When plugged in pressing the power button does absolutely nothing. No lights. No fans. Nothing. Now most Dell psu's have some button on that back of it to test the psu. Curiously when. I press that all the lights inside the case come on. Every single fan including the one on the gpu spins up and the little green light stays solid like they say should happen. For a short time I wondered if it was just the litteral power button that had been damaged as I've actually had issues with it in the past not doing anything. After unplugging plugging it back in and tinkering with it it always seemed to fire eventually. I wouldn't have smelled the burnt psu if it was just a bad power button tho. Ive been wanting to upgrade for a while anyway so as of right now I decided to bite the bullet and start over. I'm gonna build my own rig this time rather than pre built. I already bought a new case, power supply, and motherboard. The idea being that I can drop in the cpu, ram, and gpu from my fried pc to see if they will work while I save for some nicer components (looking at getting an i9-9900k, some faster ram ,and eventually get my hands on one of those new 3080s) My question is. Is this safe? Should I be dropping possibly defective parts into my brand new motherboard to see if they work or should I just assume they don't and go without a pc for a while until I get everything else together? So far the parts I have got for my new build are Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro Full Tower Chassis with Window Cases PH-ES614P_BK,Black Motherboard: Asus Prime Z390-A PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 850 Ga, 80 Plus Gold 850W, Fully Modular Also grabbed a cheap cooler : Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo (will buy something nicer along with the 9900k if the 8700 doesn't work)
  17. ok so for a bit know i whated to start Pc gaming but i what to play VR and my pc be power full Enough to play half life Alex on the valve index. But i looked at the cost of buliding and its a bit over my budget is 2000 with out tax i well pay more for the tax then i started looking at pre-builts then this one caught my eye the link is here: https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/asus-rog-strix-gaming-pc-black-amd-ryzen-7-3700x-2tb-hdd-512gb-ssd-16gb-ram-geforce-rtx-2070-super/14431176 i need to know if this is any good!
  18. I know of several places I can buy a system and customize what I would like in it. Some have very good reputations and I have heard and even used before while I have found others that look really good and have cheaper pricing, but I have never heard of them before. Companies I have been looking at. Dell (Alienware) Digitalstorm Ibuypower CyberpowerPC MSI Gigabyte
  19. Hey all! I'm looking for a new desktop to use for some gaming and occasional ML workloads. I found the Lenovo Legion T7 on sale for 20300 NOK with a discount code, which looks like a decent deal to me, however I can't find many reviews of it online. What I am scared off is that they handicap their PCs like other OEMs do. (IE HP Omen 45L) Does anyone here have any experiences with it? The specs of the T7 configuration I am looking at are: RTX3080, i7-12700KF, 32GB 4800mHz and 1TB SSD. Its also one of the few pre-built PCs I have found that has a 360 mm CPU cooler, which I assume will be necessary for the 12700? I've been trying to pick out something similar on PC partpicker, but I haven't been able to match the price, even when picking more reasonable DDR4 RAM. https://no.pcpartpicker.com/list/htkzpH Another pre-built I found is sold by Proshop Dutzo, which doesn't use proprietary parts, however it is slightly out of budget: https://www.proshop.no/Stasjonaer-DUTZO-konfigurerbar-gamer-PC/DUTZO-Deluxe-Wildfire-RTX-3080-Intel-i7-12700KF-1-TB-SSD-16-GB-RAM/8042142 Hope someone can help me find a good deal even though the market still kind of sucks Budget (including currency): 20500 NOK Country: Norway Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: CS, Elden Ring, Machine Learning / Deep Learning Other details: No peripherals needed, have a 144hz 2k monitor already.
  20. Budget (including currency): Around 500 USD (5000 Swedish Crowns). Give or take a few hundred. Country: Sweden Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Priority #1 Adobe Suite Priority #2 3D render / Game dev Priority #3 Single-player gaming Other details Last year I purchased a prebuilt Lenovo Legion T5 gaming PC to replace my oooooooooold PC (purchased pre-built with even-at-the-time outdated parts), and I'm now considering the possibility of using the components in this pre-build as the "jumping-off point" for a new build. I've never built a PC from scratch, but I've done some light upgrades and such (installing RAM, harddrives, and a CPU-fan). I asked this question in a different, more local forum, but ran into a dead end on that thread, so I figured I'd go international. Here's the product page from Lenovo: https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/se/sv/products/desktops-and-all-in-ones/legion-series/legion-t5-26amr5/90rc/90rc005jmw And here's a Speccy link: http://speccy.piriform.com/results/tJo3JVjCYPxHshTswGy7dpL What I'm looking for in terms of feedback is: A: Wether or not it's viable at all. I've been hoarding PC-building knowledge and tips on YouTube (a hefty amount of it being LTT), and I can't seem to find a reason why it wouldn't work, barring Lenovo adding some sort of... I dunno, restrictions on the components? Which seems bizzare to me. B: What should be my top priorities in this build? My goal is to kind of get a solid base to work off of for future upgrades, so I feel my focus should be compatibility. Obviously first thing to grab is the biggest chassi I can find that's still affordable and has good ventilation (Aesthetics is far and away my lowest priority here). In terms of actual components, I'm thinking a new power supply to accomodate an eventual GPU upgrade, and a proper CPU cooler and a batch of thermal paste to replace the stock one that's installed.
  21. Even pulling similar parts on pcpartpicker, I couldn't beat the price. Decent deal while it lasts. RAM's only 3000MHz, but for anyone looking to just get a computer to game on really well at 1080p or even 1440p, this seems decent. https://www.newegg.com/skytech-st-blaze-ii-0007-ne/p/N82E16883289042?Item=N82E16883289042&cm_sp=Homepage_SS-_-P0_83-289-042-_-04092020&quicklink=true
