I am starting an ISP business to provide internet service in my locality. I wanna know about how to manage customers and how to setup pppoe at ISP end (i.e. how to assign pppoe username and password to customers)

So, I'm trying to set up a router (for the first time) by following this guide (I can't find anything else that is as helpful, if you do find any, please share it with me). Anyway, at some point, the guide tells me to enter my PPPoE username and password into the wizard. Is it the same as my wifi password? If not, how do I find it? Note: I am doing this with a RIGER-DB120WL which (I found out here) happens to be a cheap knockoff of this TP-Link router, using this firmware.

Hey guys, a while ago I got a TP-Link router to replace the ISP one, the ISP router is being used for Voip only. When first configuring it, I chose the option Dynamic IP. It works, but my ISP provides PPPoE username and password. So should I use it instead? What's the difference? I tried using a Lan to Lan option with the two routers but Voip didint' work, only works with Wan on the second router (ISP), is that related?

Basically, the connection drops out all the time, I can't determine if the problem is on the ISPs end or mine. The first time they set this connection up it was in much worse condition, the line kept dropping every hour or even less, sometimes the link was up for no more then 5 minutes then I lost connection again. Then I tried all kinds of troubleshooting to no avail. I called customer service, they eventually came, checked the wires on the poles outside, and in our house. They wired me to the master directly. Had the exact same problem, not even the slightest improvement. So naturally and pissed I called them again, this time they replaced my slave modem, and even the master outside, this provided a noticeable improvement but still didn't fix the problem. Now the internet goes out after 6 or 5 sometimes even up to 16 hrs of usage. I could sort of live with this, but let's be honest I cannot control when the connection can drop because it's completely random, sometimes the link went out every 30 seconds for instance. For playing online this is not the ideal connection either so I have to do something. The ACT led on the slave modem goes off for 2-10 seconds, I lose connection, the led lights up again and after waiting sometimes seconds, sometimes minutes, the connection comes back. Sometimes the router realized that I don't have internet access and the light turns amber, even though the ACT on the modem is already solid green. This is where it gets weird, this type of connection drop happens rarely but still does happen. The modem shows the link is up, but I still cannot connect to the internet, the wifi doesn't work either. I've tried bypassing the router as well when this happens and with a solid green ACT led, the windows troubleshooter sometimes showed me Error 651 or "Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (DNS server) is not responding" . I've tried bypassing the router in general and that didn't fix the problem either. I also tried entering Google's public DNS but that didn't do anything helpful. If I have to call them again it would be a bit embarrassing for me, and I guess also for them since they cannot fix the problem. At this point I don't know what else is possible to improve the situation. Router PPPoE settings : Router : TP-Link Archer C50 Slave : AccEOC21 ISP : RCS & RDS or DIGI Romania (if it matters) I'd like to clarify I do live in a small village in sort of the middle of nowhere but that shouldn't be an excuse. EDIT : It seems that everytime the connection drops I have to unplug and plug in the slave modem for it to work again, before it reconnected on its own.

Hello, I recently got FTTH and (Fibre optic) modem is now in a different room. My ISP is the german Telekom. We currently have 3 routers in our house. A Telekom Speedport W724V with analog ports for our home telephones An ASUS RT-AX56U for Wifi for the second floor A TP-Link (for ~25 bucks some years ago) for Wifi on the ground floor We used to have our telephone station in our office room next to the TP-Link and connected to the (DSL) modem, but I had to move it to the second floor where the fibre optic modem is. I tried to connect the ASUS router with the modem, but it had no internet connection. I read that I need to use "PPPoE" in the ASUS routers WAN configuration, but I had not much time and just used the Speedport to connect to the modem. Now I have time, but don't understand how it actually works. What do I need to configure the ASUS router? I want to move the Speedport back to it's original spot.

Hi, So at work we have given out firewalls to certain staff, The idea being that they are then secure when the connect to us. The issue however is that the Broadband provider for these lines Authenticates with PPPOA and the Firewalls use PPPOE. I know that the Draytek Vigor 120 could fix this issue easily - However my work does not want to add an extra device into the mix as these are peoples homes. My issues are The Broadband company do have some slight PPPOE support but this switchs back to PPPOA or becomes unstable or they forget and switch it back We can't add extra devices (even though i think we should) Going to another company isnt an option This company only does ADSL so we cannot upgrade to fibre or a different type of service THe PPPOE Support is a much slower rate - ADSL1 My company will not swap out or change the Firewall Routers. I am and we are in the UK Is there any way or will this be a case of banging my head against the wall ?

I can't get internet working on both LAN and Wireless. I have an ASUS RT N-10U

Hi, although I dabble in PC hardware and software, networking has always been a mystery to me, please be gentle. i live in Japan and my internet provider has given me a pppoe. I have entered all my login info into my router (buffalo WHR-300HP2). I use windows 10 home edition, lastest update. Connecting to the internet is not an issue but the problem I have is my vpn does not seem to connect (host not found error). I am talking to the vpn customer service to fix that issue but I noticed something strange. When I installed windows 10 from windows 7, my pc recognized my connection as a regular Ethernet connection. I don't know how that worked but my VPN could connect without a glitch at that time. Then suddenly, today, my PC tells me I don't have an internet connection. I had to manually connect to my pppoe and now I can't use my VPN. How can I connect my pppoe and make it look like a regular Ethernet connection? Thanks.
