I have 600W PSU , ryzen 5 3600, rtx 2060, 4x8GB ram, one m.2 SSD and 3TB harddrive. When I run my CPU at max frequency, arround 4.1-4.2 GHz, after some time BSOD appears, something with kernel. So I had to set maximum processor state to 99% in power management, and now the maximum is only 3.52GHz. Can I somehow change it to different value? I want to set it to the max value that will not crash my system.

For some time now my PC doesn't properly hibernate, but instead start up after some time. Sometimes even after a few seconds. Are there some settings I could tweak to make the PC stay asleep as I wish? According to powercfg -lastwake there was no reason for it to wake up.

Hi guys. I'm currently modding one of my old cards (r7 370X) and there is some weird power plain and power distribution. I don't want to overload my PCI power (I found moded bios where are all limits disabled) and when I measured PCI power it was pulling 110W. So I want to solder wire (+12V) from 8 pin to the PCI power. I don't think it should short anything, but to be sure I'm asking if it would be problem. Because I don't want to short my PSU rails. In the past I just cut the lines from pci power and soldered wire from 6 pin to pci on my 1650S. I don't want to do this here. So what's your opinion

I removed the battery from my laptop because it's thoroughly cooked and doesn't hold a charge much. I'm using an Acer Aspire 5 Slim (2019) | A515-54-51DJ I intend to use this laptop only for desk usage so I don't particularly want to have the battery charging 24/7, seems like it would be a fire hazard after a good while. But when I removed my battery from my laptop, it started slow down quite a bit when running off direct power. At least, noticing that Discord & Firefox were noticeably slower. I changed the power plan settings to be on max performance and even went into the BIOS to see if there's any specific power settings placed when it's not running off a battery. However, it is still quite slow. Any ideas on what I could try?

Just a quick PSA. A friend who works at a company that rhymes with Hell mentioned that he has observed Nvidia's driver updates changing the Power Management Mode (in Nvidia's Control Panel) to Optimal power, which in turn can sometimes cause other issues such as audio skipping. You could try changing this power mode to Adaptive and see if it resolves the issue. Confirmed this happening with a PCIE sound card, so it might have something to do with fluctuating power. This is of course assuming you have an Nvidia GPU in your system.

Hello all. TL;DR I've played around with some RAM overclocking and power management and not my system reboots after 2-5 minutes of ANY use or even just idling. So I've recently built a new AMD system and I'm having some problems. I will try to write it up in as much detail as I can remember so there's full picture. After I've assembled the PC and installed Windows all was fine. I've disabled some annoying lights on the MB and started updating all the firmware and software. So AMD chipset driver, BIOS and GPU driver are all the latest. Then I've installed all the monitoring software necessary because my idle CPU temps seemed too high (49-62C randomly). I have since read that this is basically fine for 3600, this isn't the issue now. After I tweaked some stuff in BIOS like disabled PBO, set up a custom CPU fan curve and then adjusted the power profile in Windows (AMD High Performance, min power to 1%, max to 100%) the temps became better and the fan stopped ramping up and down. Then I decided to overclock RAM and IF. Found some OC manual OC guide (since Nanya chips in my RAM isn't supported by the DRAM Calculator), set the RAM to 3200CL16 and the IF to 1600. The system booted and seemed stable in light stuff like web browsing. Also at that point the PC was on for like 4 hours while I was watching some videos and reading stuff about overclocking and power management, everything was just fine. Didn't get to play any games or load the system in some other way though. Then I decided to try and bump the RAM to 3600. Set the voltage to 1.4V, the IF to 1800, didn't touch the CPU voltage at that point. The system got stuck in a bootloop. So fair enough, I discharched the power button, cleared CMOS, booted into BIOS. Then dialed in the last successful RAM configuration (3200CL16, voltage on Auto), set up the fan curve again, didn't touch anything else, booted into Windows no problem. I still was getting this temp pattern in HWinfo, so after some further reading I've decided to do a voltage offset of 0.1V on the CPU and try and run Prime95 to determine whether my load temps were okay. System seemed stable with the offset, so I ran the test, the temps were sitting at around 67C for the first ~5 minutes, the suddenly shot up to 85C and stayed there for the next ~5 minutes more until I shut it down. That's where it all broke down. After I left the PC idling to cool down, the temps dropped to around 65C and refused to go lower, the CPU fan was ramping up and down (I think 65C was around where my fan curve was supposed to rise). That continued for ~3 minutes, then the system rebooted. Upon loading the temps were about where and how the were before Prime95, but then after ~3 minutes the system rebooted again while I was watching some Youtube. I turned it off, let cool for around an hour just to be sure, cleared CMOS, left BIOS at default settings, loaded into Windows and right away changed the power profile to how it was at default. The system still keep inexplicably rebooting after 2-5 minutes of any light use. I checked that all the connectors are seated properly, the cooler is screwed down tightly, I reseeded the RAM into each others slots (dunno why but whatever). Still the same behaviour. I'm out of options and losing hope. This is my system below. Everything is brand new except for the GPU (around a year old) and the PSU (around 3 months old), both were working in my i5 3470 system with no issues. The case is cooled sufficiently, my MB and drive temps are around 40C, the GPU is in low 30C at idle. But didn't manage to find any complains about it so far from other people. pls help

Hello everyone! I am having an issue with my hdd and w10 and I have tried almost everything relevant found on google with no success. In my system I have 2 SSD's and and 5 HDD's and the problem is that the all of the HDD's are constantly spinning up with no particular reason. I know that they are supposed to spin up when something is accessing them in any way but this in not the case. We are talking about drivers that contain ONLY data. I could be just watching a movie, browsing, or even doing nothing and suddenly one by one all the hard drives, wake up and start to spin up for no apparent reason. For example at the moment I am writing this, the system was silent and suddenly it started spinning up the HDD's again (when the drives are not spinning, my system is almost dead silent). I have used many times a program called HDDScan, that has a feature to spin down a disk and its the only think that worker. It slows the spinning drivers but after a while the cycle starts again. The spinning up happens at least once per hour and lasts around 15-20mins (probably due to the sleep time limit on power management settings). I have already checked but couldn't find anything really relevant on scheduled tasks, neither I was able to pinpoint which process is accessing them causing the spin up. Finally the indexing is turned of for all of them. The drives are a mix variety of WD drives(green, blue, 7200rpm, 5400rpm, 1tb,2tb,4tb). Windows 10 1903

My USB ports keep disconnecting and reconnecting if I have too many devices plugged in but I have 7 USB ports and when I use about 5 or more this happens.. I know its not my PSU because my PC only requires 350-400wh and I have a 600wh, so i cant figure out the issue. I've also disabled all the USB settings for power management.

Hey guys , it’s not really an issue as much as I just want to know why !? So, in game or in bench mark like time spy my 9700k will down clock to stock speeds and 1.2ghz a lot and even as low as the energy saver speed of 800mhz. However in the cpu portion of time spy or if you run a cpu only benchmark like intel diagnostic tool it will run at 5ghz the whole time, so it must think it’s not needed and down clock unless usage is high enough ? This can be fixed by going into windows and turning power management from balanced to high performance so it’s not the end of the world , because I think that’s fine to do ( new to all this ) but my seven700 K never had this behavior so it’s bothering me lol. Any ideas ??? I should note that it did this when I first bought it and then I believe stopped so maybe it’s a bios update or something. The cpu is overcloked to 5ghz with a voltage of 3.500v, and avx offset of 0 , and an LLC of medium. Temperature never breaches 75 and it usually in the 50’s under load.

Slow down after waking up your PC from sleep? I have been using my laptop for a year now, and sometimes just shut the lid of my laptop, lazy or not hesitant to shut down it anyway. After I have waken up my laptop from sleep, I played Tekken 7, it used to play fine before I put it to sleep, but after I put it to sleep, I noticed increased latency and dropped frames. My laptop's model is ASUS ROG GL553VW. I also tested osu! as one of my tests, when I play the game before I put it to sleep, it played fine, there were no lag spikes noticed on the game. But then after I put my laptop to sleep and woke it up, osu! has been performing weird with time-to-time lag spikes which causes increased input delay/latency and dropped frames. I've heard the same issue with Xbox One X. According to Digital Foundry's FFXV Analysis, they've noticed that the game slows down when the console was put on sleep mode before you played the game. Digital Foundry's Video: Do you think guys that it's a bug within the OS, drivers, BIOS, CPU, or hardware? I can provide a video proof to my case, but I can't promise to be so technical with the data gathered, first of I'm an incoming Grade 10 student, secondly, I just want to play games ?

I was simply wondering if powering a GPU with the included splitter cable and only using one PCIe cable from the PSU would hinder your overclocking capabilities? Should I use two PCIe cables coming directly from my PSU to the GPU, or will using one with a splitter be sufficient? I couldn't seem to find any information on this myself. Thanks for the knowledge! Question: For the windows power saving features would it be beneficial to have the HDD turn off after a set amount of time or have them running on all the time? My logic is the amount of start stop may affect its life too. I regularly access the hard drive so would it be just better to have it on instead of power or go to sleep state after a set time? Background Info: Any help would be appreciated because my 4 year old Seagate HDD which has logged 1.65 years or 606 days of power on time is getting more bad sectors and its beginning to rapidly occur. I will buy a larger hard drive soon to back up all my data, plus I am no goood at NAS or back up server thing let alone I have the money. Oh yeah the hard drive is 1TB the exact model number is ST31000528AS its up to its 8th bad sector and that was a shorter amount of time period when it went from 6 -> 7 that was about a year worth and now its been less than 4 months. :L
