  1. I was recently having some power issues with my pc. It wouldn't turn on so I brought it into a pc repair shop to get an estimate. Long story short they recommended that I replace my PSU (Previously had an EVGA 850w 80 plus gold, Now upgraded to EVGA 1000w 80plus gold). They were gonna charge me $250 to replace it, so I decided to just do it myself after watching a few YouTube tutorials. After unplugging everything and replacing a few power cables, I noticed a couple of things. Firstly, they broke my SATA data cable and tried to tape it together with scotch tape. Secondly, I noticed that a few cables from my GPU power adapter were disconnected. (Video Linked Below) Here's my question, is it normal for this 12pin to 8pin adapter to be disconnected like this? For reference I have a NVDIA 3070 FE. 20230626_235814.mp4
  2. So here's something new for me: power issues due to a SATA power cable. Was wondering if any of you have had this issue and what you've done about it. I'm putting a computer together and initially only plugged in the CPU power and 24 pin connectors from the PSU to the motherboard. The system started up and I was able to get into the BIOS just fine, so I connected my 2.5" SSD to try and install Windows on it. When I did this, the fans on the computer spun for a split second, then the whole thing died - no response from the power button or anything. It powers on just fine as long as the SATA power cable isn't connected to anything, but as soon as it is, the PC seems to have power issues. The PSU is semi-modular (a Corsair CX550M), so I've tried plugging different SATA power cables into different inserts on the power supply, but they all have the same result. I even tried different SSDs, but that doesn't make a difference either. Does anyone know what I can do about this?
  3. Hello, thanks for stopping by ; was wondering if anyone can help me. Whenever my computer goes to sleep I often am unable to wake it up unless I replug into a different port on my wall outlet; keyboard, mouse and power button do nothing. My computer sometimes doesn't even sleep at all despite being idle for hours, sometimes it does after 15 mins. The other day my computer also couldn't boot up unless I replugged into a different outlet. I have tried various guides online already but have no success: - Mouse and Keyboard permission to wake device - Disable USB power saving and suspending - Update Display and Graphics drivers - Turn off fast startup - Windows power trouble shooter - Reenable hibernation, I think PC Specs: Motherboard - Asus strix B550 A gaming Graphics - Gigabyte Vision RTX 3080 CPU - AMD Ryzen 7 5800X CPU Cooler - be quiet! Pure Loop 360mm AIO PSU - be quiet! 1000W Straight Power 11 80+ Gold Power Supply RAM - Corsair 16gb DDR4 3200 Storage - 1x Samsung 250 gb nvme SSD, 1x Samsung 1tb pcie gen nvme SSD, 1x Samsung 500 gb SSD, 1x Western Digital 500 gb m.2 ssd, 1x Western Digital 1tb HDD I have yet to try replugging everything. I'm thinking its either a PSU, motherboard or wall outlet issue; however, my pc runs fine otherwise.
  4. Can I ask for your opinion about my issue? Here's what happened as I try my best to summarise it: - PC used to be okay running with no OC except DOCP at 3200mhz - Today whenever I try to play my games (usually DMC 5 and Insurgency), my pc shuts off and turns on again. - reset everything in BIOS including DOCP so now I'm running on 2666mhz on ram - Same issue kept persisting and has been going on since this morning. Here's what I've tried so far: - reseating ram / reconnecting cables - repasting my CPU thermal goups - stressed test in aida64 for 2 hours and no problem. - stressed the gpu with GPU-Z for an hour, still no crash. - BIOS is on the latest version (version 3211). There's a newer one but still in BETA and I'm not gonna mess around with a BETA BIOS. One thing I've noticed is that whenever I launch a game e.g. DMC 5, I do notice that the LED in my cpu's cooler do be weakening in light then going back strong then weakening again then a shut down + restart happens. What do you think guys? my pc specs
  5. Hi, So recently I ran into this issue. I was playing league with some friends, I had discord and Google Chrome open. In the middle of the game, my monitors froze and my keyboard, mouse, and headset stopped working. My PC was still on, and the monitors were still displaying frozen images. I'm not sure what happened, and I don't know whether I should be worried or not. My computer wouldn't respond to a forced shut down from the power button, so I had to flip the power supply's switch off to get it to turn off. Any tips or what to look for? Edit: PC Specs Ryzen 7 3700 2060 Super 32GB RAM 2 SSD's, one 250GB and another 1TB Don't know what power supply but was upgraded around a year ago. This issue happened a few times before, but I thought I got it fixed by removing a game recording software. Seems that this software wasn't the issue...
  6. So I have a older Project motherboard. (ASUS B75M-A) And the issue I’m having with this board is It shuts down about one or two seconds after being turned on, Sometimes I can get it turned back on immediately by pushing the power button but sometimes it just won’t do anything until I remove power. When I first noticed issue was a few days ago when it was booted into windows it was just randomly Shutting downShutting down, Eventually I got to the point where I thought it was windows so I reinstalled windows, It worked fine for the first hour or so and then it went back to randomly shutting down,. After that I removed everything From the case and put everything back together, this is win the one second turn on then turn off power issue started Sometimes after removing power and pushing the button enough times I could get the boot into windows but then it would shut itself down about usually 5 to 10 minutes into windows being Booted I tried pretty much almost every troubleshooting Step known to mankind and can’t seem to figure out what’s wrong I’ve gone over the board with a multimeter nothing is out of ordinary I’ve tried new CPU and RAM nothing changed I’ve checked the CPU and RAM slots no issue At this point I have no clue what issue is this is the first time I’ve ever experienced an issue like this with a computer and I’ve had some big issues with computers before (System info) Mobo: asus b75m-a GPU: asus gtx 1060 CPU: core i5 3570 PSU: EVGA 500GD 80 plus gold RAM: Crucial ballistic sport ddr3 1600mhz
  7. Hi can someone please take a look at my build and see if I hooked it up wrong? The motherboard will not turn on and these are all new parts, thank you.
  8. Hey Guys So after finding no help from other forums I thought it's about time I post my own problem and hope someone out there has some wisdom. So in November 2016, I built my new rig (pic included). Everything installed fine and was running smooth as butter. One day in about January 2017, I finally needed to plug in a USB to the front panel ports, the only one that was plugged in previously was the install media when I built it. When I plugged it in, boom, the PC just powers off and restarts, kinda like a surge has happened. Once restarted I can plug and unplug any amount of USB cables/sticks etc any number of times with no issue. It can go days without needing to plug anything in, then Ill find myself plugging my phone cable in (standard USB to micro USB) and as soon as the USB touches the port i.e not fully inserted the same issue. The only log I have is the unhelpful Kernal Power 41 notification in Event Viewer. So when the PC is running no issues, It can be on for days using the web, watching movies, playing games etc etc so Im fairly sure the power for the system is fine. I have checked the conections and cannot see anything that would cause it to short. The final thing I can think of is static build up, what do you guys think? Specs: Case: NZXT H440 White Mobo: ASUS z170 Sabertooth S CPU: i7-6700K CPU Cooling: Phanteks PH-TC12DX White GPU: ASUS GTX 1070 OC RAM: 16GB Crucial Ballistix Storage OS: Intel M.2 SSD Storage 2: 2x Crucial 512GB SSDs in RAID 0 Power: EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G1 ATX Fans: 3x 140mm, 3x 120mm NZXT FN V2 Other: NZXT Hue+
  9. Well, it seems der8auer has had issues with the VRM coolers and single 8 pin connectors on X299 boards. In this video, he shows the VRMs get up to 100°C on the board, as he estimates the VRM modules themselves are probably at TJunction max, and the single 8 pin connectors on PSUs can hit 60°C when overclocking the 10 core models, oops. He blames the manufacturers and Intel, which might be fair, since the launch was moved forward, so watch out if picking an X299 board folks. This probably won't be so much of an issue for normal users with 6 and 8 core units, but if you buy the 10 core chip and clock it to 4.5GHz, there is a chance the cooler on the VRM and power connector might overheat, that really isn't good for high end stuff Update: As was mentioned by a lot of people, and I'd agree mostly, this only effects some lower end boards. Other channels have started testing this and come to difference conclusions, as well as about the single 8 pin connector. Der8auer has yet to respond with an update, even before that he said he'd do further testing. This is also a VRM cooling issue, the VRM's themselves, while they're getting a healty workout, are still very capable of powering the CPUs up to 10 cores at least. UPDATE 2: Der8auer has updated with another video, and more information about his testing and what went wrong. He explains in a lot more details and rebutts some issues some had about the PSU, he used more than one guys, as mentioned in this video, he is still down on the single 8 pin. He also talks about throttling and other issues he has encountered with X299, turns out some reviewers had power limit throttling and that is why some didn't see the larger power usage and heat. I use ROG boards and I have my settings to 140% for my i7 7700K, so it's not uncommon for overclockers to do this.
  10. Today I had to leave the house, so I opened the power menu from the Windows button, and selected the option for my Dell Inspiron i5577 laptop to "Sleep." I come back later, hit the power button to turn the laptop on, and lo and behold, the power button light turns on. There is absolutely no power to the display of my laptop. My "gaming" mouse's rgb backlight is off, but whenever I click it, the rgb light comes on. It stays on as long as I hold the left or right click. My external monitor says there is no input from my laptop. I hold the power button down until the light on the power button turns off. I wait for a few seconds and then hold the power button to boot my laptop. I strongly believe it's due to no power going to the SSD when it comes back from sleep. It works fine now, but I do not understand what caused this and does this damage my laptop's hardware? Please see the video if you don't understand what I'm saying above - View: help please ? - bugged out laptop - YouTube Please read the first paragraph in the description as well, it contains more info.Important info - the SSD is a PM961 NVMe SAMSUNG SSD. INTERFACE - PCIe Gen. 3x4. TRIM status - Enabled. NVMe Driver - Samsung. RAPID Mode - Not supported. I can't seem to find any official drivers off of Samsung's website; the SSD isn't even listed there. I have found some other "unofficial" drivers but they're outdated or don't give enough information about the driver update.Video description - i strongly believe that it's due to a software bug because an update from Dell's website for my laptop model to update the SSD and the update notes stated -"Fixes: - Fixed the blue screen or system hang due to DRAM data corruptionEnhancement: - Improvements to Data Recovery" from the Intel SSDSCKKF180/256/360/512H6DN and SSDSC2KF256/360/512H6DN Series Solid State Drive Firmware Update.Another update notes lists -"Fixes: - Fixes the issue where the system is unable to exit from sleep mode as the solid-state drive (SSD) stops responding Enhancement: - N/A" from the TOSHIBA KSG60ZSE256/512G and KSG60ZMV256/512G Series Solid State Drive Firmware Update.as you can see, I believe the Toshiba drive update is more based on my issue. however, the SSD that came in my laptop was a Samsung SSD, so the installation doesn't go through.Note - I have updated all my drivers and have tried pretty much everything possible. It seems as if after 3-5 days of using the PC. it just gives up and doesn't want to come back from sleep mode.
  11. I recently built a new computer, it was fine for the first 4 days or so. No problems playing demanding games or any bench mark software. Yesterday (1 pm), i was playing CSGO, when suddenly the PC just powered itself off (black screen, all fans off) mid comp match. I quickly rebooted the PC it was fine for about 5 more minutes and then it crashed again. It starting booting again powered of again (before the BIOS screen), did this a few times. Then it started back up in to windows, and powered off again. Finally i restated it and i was able to get back in the game, where i was banned for being gone so long. The computer was fine till about 3pm, Playing dayz watch some youtube, ect. I went to play another comp game in CSGO, it was fine for the first 5 rounds. Then suddenly it just powered off again, it did the same fiasco that happened before. At this point i decided to start doing some tests. I started with a windows memory diagnostics, which found no errors I then assumed it was a PSU failure. So i used FUR mark and used the GPU and the CPU stress test just to run the computer at 100% to see if the power supply fails. This did nothing, the PC performed fine during this test. I don't know what tests i can preform next to verify which piece of hardware is failing, But it always seems to be CSGO which causes the PC to crash in the first case.
  12. Please help! My pc recently gave up on me so I basically did a complete rebuild and literally everything is working perfectly except my old HDD wouldn’t show up anywhere, wasn’t in disk management, bios, anywhere. (SSD showed up no problem). I figured it just died with the rest of the old system and got a new one, still nothing. Thought maybe I got a defective unit so I returned it and got another new one, still won’t even spin. I have searched everywhere and feel like I have tried everything. I updated every driver I could think of and messed with everything I could in the bios but still nothing.Same Power and Sata cables and Sata port work on SSD but none of the HDDsI have plugged in just power to see if it would spin up.Any suggestions would be extremely appreciatedSystem:ASRock B365 pro4Intel i7-9700k2x Crucial ballistic 8gb DDR4-2666Cooler master MWE650 goldGeForce GTX 1060 OcCorsair Force 120gb SSDThe old HDDs was a 1tb seagate barracuda and the two new ones are 1TB Western Digital WD10EZEX
  13. My specs are: Processor: Intel i3-8100 Graphics Card: NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 1050 Power Supply: Seasonic S12ii 520w Case: Dell OptiPlex 790 Mini Tower Motherboard: GigaByte B360M DS3H MicroATX Memory: Patriot Signature DDR4 2x4gb (8gb) I connected all these parts together and I have all the cables in the right place. I connected the PSU's 24-pin connector to the motherboard and 2 4-pin connectors into the 8-pin slot on the motherboard. I have also connected my hard drive and optical drive. The case fan and CPU fan are all connected in the right places. My case fan's cable has 5 ports but only 4 of them have cables going into them so I think it's fine. I connected the cable to the 4-pin connector on the motherboard that was labeled case fan. Last night, I connected it all together and turned on my power supply switch. My power button isn't connected because it is faulty. It randomly shuts the computer on and off. I had been using the PSU switch to turn on my computer for the past year and it worked. It showed a screen that said "Power Button Failure, Press F1 to Continue" and I would press F1 and it would boot normally. Recently my motherboard got damaged and I bought a new one along with a new processor and RAM. My question is whether the computer is not turning on because there is no power button. I saw online that you can use a screwdriver and put it in the motherboard power button header pins and the computer will turn on. I also saw that if your motherboard is touching the bottom part of the case, then it will get shorted out, so there should be standoffs. However, on my case, there are elevated points where there are screw holes, and I connected my motherboard through them. I assume that there is no need for standoffs when it is like that because the motherboard is already elevated. The motherboard also fits perfectly with the I/O shield. None of my front panel buttons are connected because the slot on the motherboard and the pins on the cable don't match. This is not a problem because I can use the ports in the back of the computer. I am 99% sure that none of the hardware is damaged. When my parts were coming, I used my graphics card in another computer and there were no problems. I also haven't touched my power supply for the past 4 days and before that I used it and it worked perfectly, too. But then again, anything could happen.
  14. TL/DR - PC is having restarting/shutdown issues across 2 different builds. CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 3600X (new) GPU - AMD 5700XT XFX Raw ii (new) PSU - EVGA 750 N1 (new) MOBO - Gigabyte Auros Elite WIFI X570 AM4 (new) - BIOS Storage - Sabrent 1TB Rocket NVMe 4.0 Gen4 PCIe M.2 SSD Ram - G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2x8) DDR4 2400 (reused from old build) Stock CPU Cooler, 5 Deep Cool RF120M fans, 1 Noctua NF-P12 redux-1700 Case - Inwin 101 Monitor - AOC CU34G2X (3440x1440 144Hz) Starting from the top, I previously had a different setup, in a different room of the house, seeing a similar issue (AMD GPU, Intel CPU, Strix 270f MOBO). I have tried using multiple outlets for the monitor/pc, splitting them up, and leaving them on the same power supply. I have re-seated the GPU, checked plugs, and pulled the CMOS battery off the mobo. The whole system, excluding the ram, has been rebuilt and while the timing of the shutdowns has changed slightly, the issue persists. My PC usually shuts down, occasionally restarts, sometimes successfully runs the game, when starting COD MW. If the game successfully starts and gets into a match, things seem to be golden for a while, no problems actually running the game, and I can run for hours on high/ultra without a crash. The next time it has the restart/shutdown issue is when I am leaving the game, or if I am jumping out of the game into another windows application (tweaking settings, launching discord, viewing temps). The game seems to be more successful running full screen rather than windowed. I am not sure that any of these things is the cause, but they are trends I have been seeing. As far as I can tell, at full load to the GPU, everything is fine. And I can load up the CPU as well with no issues. But the transitions within the game (loading screens), and leaving the game back to Windows 10 triggers something. I have run HWinfo in the bg to view temps and look for any anomalies. The Raw ii GPU is known to run hot, but I don't see temps in either the CPU or GPU that would cause the system to crash. No system warnings, no blue screens. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1d7qrb-kl-noy5ppMLuquHs5iSUtpgApSJKXO-wBfZBE/edit?usp=sharing There is nothing custom regarding OC/UV on either the CPU or GPU. Any ideas are much appreciated. House has had some curious electrical issues, but the breaker never pops while the PC is running. Have seen some very subtle light flickering. Next idea was to try a UPS to make sure power to the system would be steady. Thanks.
  15. my laptop will not charge when it is open and running. I have replaced the battery and the charging port with known working ones. when I plug in the charging cable my computer recognizes and begins charging and with in 30 seconds it stops. I'm running Windows 10 x64 and I've uninstalled and reinstalled my battery drivers in device manager. the laptop will charge normally when it is closed and sleeping so I think this is more of a software issue than a hardware one but Idk. I'm out of ideas and my only conclusion is there's something wrong with my motherboard. I hope that's not the case, any assistance is much appreciated!
  16. I'm at my wits end. I formatted my storage like 5 times now, I reinstalled Windows 5 times, and even updated the BIOS as well. I also factory reset Windows and uninstalled all drivers, games, EVERYTHING on the PC. I've been out of a PC for quite some time now due to an (or what I thought it was) unknown error from my Motherboard. Got my Motherboard working but now my PC doesnt want to work right and when I say "work right" it won't go to sleep. Instead it just reboots and reboots. Even when I force it to sleep it just reboots. Also when I enter the boot menu, it has me reselect my boot drive all over again (I'm new to PC building, I dont know If this is a thing or not) I'm seriously reconsidering replacing the Motherboard, the RAM and Storage devices because I looked on all other forums on the internet and they say its possibly hardware issue and If it is, it's either of the 3 I listed before. Can anyone help me before I waste more money (like I said, at my wits end)
  17. Hi, this is a weird issue I have been having with my desktop PC. I live in an area where there are a lot of power outages(at least one per day), hence I use an UPS with my PC. Recently my PC won't turn on after a long power outage, even if the PC was shutdown when power outage happened. Initially I thought it was an issue with the UPS because when I tried plugging in the PC directly from the power outlet and the PC turned on. However yesterday I left my PC plugged in to the power outlet (It was shutdown), after a power cut the PC wouldn't turn on. I tried unplugging and plugging it back in but it wouldn't turn on. Finally I tried plugging it back to the UPS and it turned on. This issue only happens when there has been a long power outage(an hour or more). The PC functions perfectly well when it's powered on. It's an old build, here are the specs: Intel i7 2600k Four Kingston DDR 3 4GB RAMs GIGABYTE Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB Cooler master 650W power supply Intel motherboard (Can't remember the model number. Sorry) Any help on what is causing this issue is much appreciated.
  18. First time forum post, sorry if I am not addressing this matter in the correct location. I built my system in 2017 and it worked fine up until recently. The graphics card had updated drivers via GE Force experience and they were not compatible with the card as I saw from ASUS' website. I removed the card from the build, powered it up, removed the drivers and reinstalled them from the manufacturer's site directly. This fixed the problem for some time. A bit later, I began getting the same error where the computer would power on for less than 5 seconds then power off again and it would repeat indefinitely (until I powered off the PSU) The motherboard shows a code 14 which based off of ASUS' website is the following error: 14 - Pre-memory CPU initialization (CPU module specific) I have not been able to pin point the issue and have ensured there is no dust causing issues and verified PSU works as it is able to power system and fans, all RAM sticks were tested individually on the second DIM slot for the PC and the computer will turn on for about 30 minutes before shutting down and starting the same process of powering on for less than 5 seconds and then powering off. Do you suspect the CPU is bad or the AIO is not doing a proper job cooling or did I miss something else? 19. okay, so i finally received my rx480 red devil graphics card when i plugged it into my pc through the pice 3.0 slot and the 8 pin power connector the fans all around the pc jolt and then fail to boot. if anyone could help with these issues it would be great
  20. as you can see in the photo, this one light turns on but the power button or the actual button do not work to turn on. I recently replaced the power supply and it worked for a while, but then it went back into this mode of not turning on. i Am able to turn the pc on if i unplug the power cable for more than 8 hours , but any before that it will not turn back on. i am able to restart the pc. i have tried: taking everything out of the pc and rebuilding it, pushing the discharge button on the motherboard, disabling my overclock, replacing the power supply, full system reset, and exchanging RAM. please somebody help me... 21. Hi, Where do I start, I have a Samsung 17inch Laptop/Notebook/Whatever the kids call it nowadays. The model number is NP550P7C-S02UK (incase that turns out to be helpful) and I had an issue with it last year, issue being my girlfriend spilled water on it and it decided to prolapse. Nevertheless I got it repaired and everything was fine until a week or so later it just cut out and then the only way it would boot up was when I applied pressure to the left side of the laptop with the palm of my hand. I proceeded to just coping with it this way until one night I was on CSGO and it cut off, since then everytime I boot it up it gets to post-splashscreen and then just cuts out. I then I have to remove the battery and put it back in to get it to boot any power and then it just does the same thing. What's strange is I had it working this morning, after months of it being sat in my wardrobe after countless nights of attempting my own DIY. Literally this morning everything was fine, I even managed to put in a fresh copy of windows 7 as the plan was to give it to my girlfriend. I continuously turned it on and off for all the updates I needed to catch up on and all the latest drivers etc, and then I closed it because I was done with it and then when I just went to go back on it to watch some Netflix, it turned off again, and again, and again. And now I'm here. Somethings I already tried were: Unplugging all source of power, holding power button for 30 seconds, plugging back in only the AC adapter and then turning it on and plugging in the battery. Nothing. ___________________________________________________________________________________________ Tried removing CMOS battery. didn't do anything ___________________________________________________________________________________________ Tried new HDD, RAM, Battery and AC Adapter. nothing ___________________________________________________________________________________________ I'm all out of ideas and need help before I burn it, and my house, to the ground
  22. So after months of trouble shooting issues with my pc iv'e replaced everything hardware wise and redid my entire OS on a new SSD, deleting my entire library of software in the process from all of my drives. The issue has still persisted after replacing the last piece of hardware i thought it could be: The Motherboard. The issue is....... RANDOM BLACK SCREEN OF DEATH (dun dun duuuuun) -It is most likely not a driver issue because the sound and all control of my pc cuts out after i try to use the keyboard or mouse when the screen goes black. So after crying internally for a few minuets i thought of what else could cause my basically new pc to still black screen even though all the components have either been outright replaced or swapped out temporarily to see if it would still black screen. One friend suggested it could be a power issue, as not in my PS but my outlet, random micro brownouts sending less than needed wattage to my pc and making hardware shutdown causing the system to partially crash like it does. TLDR; I THINK i need a UPS, but i need one that runs as a true UPS, not one that switches over in the event of a power failure so my hardware doesn't feel the what im assuming are semi frequent brown outs. Does any one have any ideas? Im not super happy with my financial state right now, i have plenty of income but recent issues have put me below my desired savings level. So if you guys could help me out it would be great (by helping me find one not buying obvi), i don't know enough about UPS to tell which would be good for me. My PC as shown on my profile has an 850 PS with a CPU and Graphic Card that can demand a huge chunk of that.
  23. Every time I turn my computer on the TV in the next room starts freezing and quits working and we dont know the cause please help. I have an ASrock 970 Extreme MB with an evga 480 and refrence 8800 and a thermaltake 850 watt psu.
  24. Hello, For the past few months,my new gaming rig has suffered from constant lockups( screen freezes, sound stops, devices become useless, and a manual reset is required). This will be a very long post so be prepared. I am going to leave NOTHING out as I want to limit the amount of questions asked so we can get to the bottom of this can of worms. I live in Western NY, Warm summers and freeing winters lol. I built this PC in mid-August and it ran perfectly at my house until mid-September. At first, the lockups only happened once a week but became more and more frequent as the weeks went on. I came to a point where I could not use my PC whatsoever. I have tried EVERYTHING to find out what's wrong. I have swapped RAM out, Swapped GPU's as I have r9 270X's in Xfire. I have replaced the PSU twice. I now bought an 850W EVGA Supernova G2, top of the line PSU I guess. The ones I had before I was told were terrible ( LEPA 800W MaxBronze, Raidmax Vampire 800W Gold). I have ran Windows memory diagnosis to rule a RAM issue out. It found nothing wrong. The biggest clue I believe I found was this: I brought my PC along with every single piece of my setup to my buddy's house. I hooked everything up as I would at my house. The only things being different was the ethernet cable and the house's power itself. For almost a week, we ran my PC there, never turning it off, gaming, surfing the web and everything. We COULD NOT get it to lock up or do anything like it does at my house. This led me to believe that it was an issue with my houses power. Maybe my PC wasn't getting enough power or it wasn't getting clean power. Upon inspection, the outlet I was using was grounded ( as were the dozen other outlets about the house that I have tried) I am getting a steady wattage and voltage before during and after my PC locks up ( no spikes or dips). We also routed my PC it's own personal breaker, locked up. we turned off all breaker in the entire house so my PC was the only thing in the whole house on, locked up. I did the light bulb test, light bulb did not dim when the PC locked up. I even bought a Volt Regulator which did not help at all. Internet connection was something I thought could be the issue. I disconnected my PC from the internet as well as using a different ethernet than the one I had been using. Both of those trials led in lockups or blue screens which can occasionally happen but not nearly as often as lockups. I keep and run my PC in my basement as it is the only place I can get privacy and stay out of the family's way. The basement can get very cold. In the summer, it never gets warmer than 70*F or so and in the winter like right now, It can get as low as 45-50*F. Recently, I have tried very unorthodox troubleshooting. I put my PC on power saving mode and kept my case fans on the lowest setting. That night my PC did not lockup once. Normally I am not able to keep it on for 5 minutes let alone 5 hours or more! The next night however, I powered my PC on and suffered from one lockup when I started Steam but after resetting, It worked fine. The following night, I did get 3 lockups in a row when starting Steam and browsing the internet. Aggravated, I opened my PC up and unplugged my case fan on the side panel. " Why not?" I was willing to do anything. The lockups stopped after that and only happen once every time I turn on my computer. I do a manual reset and it will work until the next time I turn it on. Lockups tend to only happen on the internet or steam. Keep in mind that the connection itself has no bearing because it locked up without being connected as well. It seemed that if I managed to get a game going for awhile and avoid a lockup by luck, my PC will run fine. but I will get on chrome for a few hours after and eventually...I'll get a lockup. So, here's the question, can a PC's lockup from being too cold. upon startup, ASRock A-Tuning says that my CPU temp is around 25-27*C. I do not know how cold other components are though. I'd assume the GPU's would be cool as well. I do recall one time moving my PC to my room where it can be freezing at night. I gamed on it all night and it worked fine there until I put it to sleep and woke it up in the morning, It locked up immediately. This is just the last thing I think this issue could be. Well, tell me you're thoughts and may Gaben be with you all
  25. I was told that DxDiag might be able to tell me why my PC has been locking up frequently. It only locks up at my house however. I keep thinking it is a power issue because I have replaced my PSU twice and it locks up no matter what. I have checked RAM and Gpu's as well, have all the latest drivers and it works fine at my buddy's house. Only seem to get these lockups at my house. I have posted countless threads trying to get help but have not fixed my issue yet. ------------------
