Greetings. I'm looking to build a 1440p, gaming / streaming / gamedev PC on a 1500€ to 1800€ budget. Looking for constructive criticism, advice, suggestions and tips that can improve this build. However, it's a new platform that is expensive and still has some quirks to solve. DDR5 is also new and expensive. As such, I picked AM4 instead. I also wanted to get a 8 core CPU with a low TDP. Sure, the i5-13400F and 12400F are good, especially with the fact that I can re-use the CPU when I move to DDR5. But the 5700x is a bit cheaper than the two and again, not looking to upgrade for a good while. Hopefully by the time I do AM5 and DDR5 have been matured and have much more accessible pricing. CPU Cooler - Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black 55 CFM CPU Cooler Since this is a easy to cool CPU, I don't have spend tons on a high end cooler. I was gonna get the AK400, but that went out of stock. Oh well, I heard Noctua was good and it also comes with free thermal compound! RAM - Kingston FURY Beast 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory Yeah I could get the corsair one, but these ones fit the specs that I need and look cool. Motherboard - Asus TUF GAMING B550-PLUS WIFI II ATX AM4 I wanted at least 2 x16 pcie express lanes in case I want to install a streaming card or a 10 gb networking card. Don't like the fact that I need header adapters either... Yeah I can get a cheaper motherboard if I drop the wifi dongle, but I need it just in case. Storage: - 2x Samsung 980 Pro 1 TB - Crucial MX500 2 TB 2.5" - Seagate Barracuda Compute 2 TB 3.5" 7200 RPM Ok let me explain. I intend to use Linux as the main operating system and use Windows 11 for the stuff Linux just can't do. Although you can dual boot on the same drive, Windows has a tendency to screw with the boot loader. Therefore, one OS per drive keeps problems away. The 2 TB SSD is for games and the HDD is to keep the stuff that doesn't need SSD speeds. GPU - Radeon RX 6800 16 GB Video Card (USED) This was a PAIN to research. I went for the 3070 first, but 8 GBs of VRAM will give problems, especially in future. And I didn't wanted a 3060, nor a 3080. Too expensive and high wattage. Thankfully the search went very narrow once I settled on some specifics *(and went AMD)*: - 200-250 watts - 12 gbs or higher of VRAM - With a good memory bus - Fits in the damn case - Can do 1080-1440p After a while the 6800 was the sweet spot, plus the 4 extra gbs. Case - Fractal Design North Mesh The moment I saw that case I knew it had to be mine. Also I was looking for a case without a glass side panel due to the ceramic floor, and this was perfect with mesh panel. This means I can vertical mount the GPU and get the heat out...to my legs. PSU - Thermaltake Toughpower GF1 PE 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply I actually had an idea of what I wanted from a PSU: - 80+ Gold certified + Cybenetics labs equivalent (this PSU landed on platinum https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_w3i.pdf) - Fully modular - At least 200 watts of overhead - Doesn't blow up Monitor - Still looking! Mainly a 27 inch, 2560 x 1440, IPS panel with 144 Hz, adjustable height and VGA mountable...that doesn't cost higher than 300 euros.

Hi a tech newb here, I'm considering in upgrading from a laptop to a desktop due to performance cap at the moment. I'm a bioinformatics student and atm have a Asus A541U (i5-7200u, GeForce 920m and 8gb) and at the internship i'm going through now I will need more power due to the applications I'm using. Right now I was thinking going with a budget of 700~800€ for the machine and probably 200€ for one or two monitors that I'll need (the rest I have it now). The main idea of this build is to buy now something better and then upgrade when needed. I'll also play games on it (like Borderlands, GTAV, Minecraft, etc.) but don't really care the high end specs, i'm ok with 60fps and 1080p (FHD?) resolution and graphics. The "default" specs I am looking for is 16GB ram, an half decent CPU( I'm looking towards AMD 2600 or 3600 but still hesitant about it because of lack of research), a half decent GPU( been looking around the GTX 1050 all the way until 1660Super and comparing with each other and such) and at least a SSD for OS and an HDD for regular storage (docs, games etc). The monitors also don't need to be that OP, just one or two simple FHD monitors capable to handle 60FPS without any issue for multitasking during work. I haven't looked at any yet. Hi i am going to build a new PC in the folowing months. Probably march 2018. I builted my last computer on 2008, now is time for a new RIG! By the way i use to have a MSI GE60 2PC Apache that the motherboard fried up, so i really need a new system! the msi was getting a bit slow for me so here are the pc parts i choose...but i want some opinions on the price. I am probably only going to be using 2 monitor at max maybe only one not sure. I do not need an SSD already have it and the Cooler, i have an artic cooler that should work with this socket. My budget is 1000 euros...i can go a bit up in that value if needed. PS: I am from portugal.

As just released a few hours ago on the Portuguese tech focussed web publication, Exame Informática, João Pina, an investigator in this field, has publicly announced on Twitter his findings when probing at the government's own websites. He has found out that the government authentication system (autenticacao.gov.pt) is sharing the personal information of whoever accesses the page with private company Facebook. Such findings have in the mean time been confirmed to the OP by another specialist that has prefered to stay anonymous. The website in cause has an embedded Facebook SDK into it. It has been so far confirmed that at least the user's IP address and browser version are being shared with the private company. This then allows Facebook to cross and match user identifiable data. Even if the user isn't logged in to Facebook, it can still keep track of the IP and browser version. João Pina also defends that the AMA (in english AAM or Agency for the Administrative Modernization), the institution responsible for the website in question, is also logging the user's email used to log in to Facebook, as found in the webpage's code. Presented with the facts, the AMA has forwarded any technical clarifications to the information available on the government's website. In a tab dedicated to social networks, it is stated that "no data is sent to social networks, according to the best practices". (comment: whatever that means...) Apart from this, it was also found that this platforms also have Google's data analysis platform, Analytics, embedded. As a Portuguese citizen myself I can only say that this is a complete and disgusting abuse on citizen privacy and that I really hope this doesn't go without severe punishment, not only for AMA but also for the government for not keeping tabs on who they should or being compliant and obviously for Mr. Zuck's childish 15 year old teenager. Hi. This is my first post on this forum, or any forum by that matter. I'm looking for suggestions on a gaming rig I'm looking to build myself. I'm on a budget here so about 500€/600€ from different online stores for each component. After doing my own research for best components per price I've come up with a build and need help from people that actually understand what they're doing. MOTHERBOARD: ASUS Prime A320M-K AMD Ryzen RAM: CG.Skill Kit 8GB (2X4GB) DDR4 2800MHz Trident Z Red GPU: ASUS Phoenix GTX 1050 Ti 4GB GDDR5 CPU: Ryzen 5 2600 3.9GHz PSU: Kolink Core 600W 80+ CASE: Hummer TGS STORAGE: TOSHIBA 1TB 7200rpm + Kingston 120GB SSD EDIT: Changed per some suggestions in the comments. SUPER APPRECIATE IT from all of you. Only thing I didn't change was the GPU. I think from what I researched about the GPU-MB compatibility that it still works and anything above a 1050 ti / 1060 makes it a bit much for me. FINAL EDIT: Due to all the suggestions and research on more websites then I'd like to admit, I've reached a final setup that's ideal for both the types of games that I play and my budget, coming in at 688,90€ and possible further upgradability. Thank you all for the suggestions Looking for possible improvements I can make in terms of performance or price. I also attached a print from the Excel spreadsheet draft I made. I really appreciate all responses I may or may not get. Due to the budget right now I can't really afford a super RGB beast just yet though. Thank you all :3

After deciding my pc build(CPU, GPU, etc...), i checked for PSU´s that would be adequate for my build. I had used a wattage calculator (there´s an attached screenshot of the result, to give you a perspective). I picked a power supply that was less than 60 euros, preferably between 55 euros(including shipping), could be more, could be less. However, after reading the forums and youtube videos, I had more questions than answers about whenever or not i should either get one of the power supplies I planned to get, or to choose another PSU. I live in Madeira Islands, so my options of stores are very low. In fact, I only considered posting here, because i saw a user who helped people outside of North America (which by coincidence the user who wanted help was Portuguese). Which power supply is good? Do i need to consider a PSU other than these ones mentioned, that can be sent to madeira islands? Should i increase my budget to get a power supply? If yes, how much? Hi there! I want to rebuild my current desktop and add another 1070 to my system. The thing is that my motherboard has 1 single PCIEx3.0 slot. I want to buy another one with 2 slots, but I think i'm really outdated in regards to the existing offer which is huge big for H4 Socket motherboards. My budget for this upgrade is limited to 150€. I need your help to choose my motherboard because I'm not really sure who is the best manufacturer for this kind of parts. I’ll leave the link for the ones I think will work well, below. I’m living in Portugal right now so, I would like to buy it from a Portuguese retailer so that i can claim warranty if anything goes wrong.
