Hi! I’ve been searching through the internet and the forum but the answer isn’t exactly straight as I’m quite new to network in general. is my only option to switch isp/ upgrade plans? Goal: VPN back to home LAN to WOL/ smb/plex/jellyfin etc. Issue: Cannot assign ports as it seemed to randomly assign ports whenever I make an internet (packet?) request. Treated with nmap + canyouseeme.org Setup: I am in the states with RCN as ISP. WAN > Modem + WiFi hybrid > EROS 6 > my tp-link router > LAN Everything is setup in my router for simplicity, got baited to the EROS by isp thinking I can port forward there. I’ve found options of using reverse proxy request or go around under no-Ip but to my understanding it still require a stable port to be forwarded out there? I have PIA vpn with port forwarding as well, but im not sure if they allow me to setup my router as server.

Hey, so i recently bought an Asus RT-AC88U, and im trying to portforward for my kids minecraft server without any luck. Im gonna attach some images and if someone can tell what what ive done wrong is greatly appreciated! So far ive tried, Disabeling firewall in both windows and the router, Made a static IP, Disable UPnP, Made inbound and outbound rules in firewall. Since I'm stuck inside due to the quarantine I figured to get something out of my free time and finally figure out how to do port forwarding to host a minecraft server for my mates. The rule *should* theoretically be correct, I've set a static IP, read a bunch of guides and have tried it on 2 different routers. Both failed, yougetsignal returns closed. I've tried enabling and disabling firewalls with router restarts in between, disabling SPI as some guide said it would interfere, and then disabled the portforward rule altogether and setup DMZ to my computer's IP since I figured it might help me determine where the problem lies. The only thing I haven't tried is restarting my PC in between enabling/disabling the windows firewall. The next step is probably installing Windows on a new drive, setting another static IP and doing the windows firewall rules to see if there's some driver or other rule on my original installation that is causing trouble. But that will have to wait for now since I don't have an empty drive lying around. I've attached a few screenshots that might be of use to anyone that's willing to help and can provide more if needed. Also note that I'm using 1.1.1.1's DNS servers on both my router and PC, if that's relevant. Thanks to anyone who put in the time to read this.

Alright, after infinite amount of trying, doing everything I know, I have come to the conclusion that I am unable to forward a port, no matter what. The router/modem I am using is Technicolor TC7200. The game I am trying to use port forwarding for now is Terraria, I set up the server correctly, i re-check everything over and over, I use a legit steam client, but nothing works. I have done the port forwarding with entering my public IP adress in the external IP field as well, but same result. I will provide some photos, Please help me! https://imgur.com/a/w7xrQdD#ho3kqA7 https://imgur.com/a/gqjp8gz#rgDxBAI https://imgur.com/a/CXrxIsj#XdDV6un https://imgur.com/a/eqV0NDX#4TcBZGy https://imgur.com/a/Zk9gdZa#4ml1Amq

I currently have cascading routers. The first router is an Actiontec given by my ISP. Connected to that is my Nighthawk R7000 which currently has all of the wireless networks on it. I have connected and configured my drive on the netgear router and it works from within the local network. I am unable to connect to it outside of my local network and I am unsure why. I have port forwarded ports 21 & 443 (TCP) on the Actiontec -> ip of netgear. The netgear should automatically port forward these ports as the ftp server is running on it. Is this how I should be setting this up? I also have an ip cam that is connected to the netgear router with the same port forwarding situation (different port) and that works fine.

I have recently been trying to portforward on my BT home hub 5, so that I can play Rainbow 6 Seige online with my friends. However, when I try to save the ports i want to open, it won't save any changes. Also where there should be a drop-down to display a list of devices, there are none shown. If anyone has any ideas on what could be wrong it would be a huge help. P.S. I have already spend 2 hours on the phone to BT and they had no ideas.

I've been trying for weeks now. Can anybody help me? The port is 2302. The port never appears as open in any online port checker and when I tried it for minecraft, friends could never join. There is no applications, pinholes, and DMZ option,

Hey!So I'm trying to make my dumb coffeemaker to a smart coffeemaker and for that I am using a ESP8266-01. I have gotten it to work on my local network but i want to be able to access it from the internet when im not home. I thought i would be able to port forward to the IP-address on the ESP. But when I made the portforward and i check if the port is open it isn't. I am using a ZyZEL LTE3301 router. What is wrong? screenshot: https://imgur.com/dbu1zP3 If this in the wrong catagory, admin may change it to the right one!

Hello This may be an odd question but my brain somehow cannot wrap around how it's done. Okay so let me explain. Currently, my ISP has assigned me a public static IP address. I run a few home servers that I make publicly accessible via port forwarding the servers LAN IP over to the WAN IP. That said, I want to ask my ISP to give me three more public IP addresses or a block of public IPs. And when I have these said IP addresses, I want to assign them each directly to my home servers. Now, here's where the problem comes in. Say they do lease me two extra IPs, how on earth would I distribute those IPs directly to my servers? I assume I need a router for that obviously, but how will it be set up in the router, generally speaking, no specific router in question. Would the router need to be compatible for something like this? If yes, what capabilities should the router have? I basically need the full scope on how I would directly connect one of my servers to these public IP addresses once provided to me, please?

Hello, We have Century Link 1000/1000 fiber to our house. We are using their Technicolor C2100T as the receiving router for the DSL line. Due to the house size and wall thickness I am using my Netgear R7500 in Access Point mode to extend wifi and create ports for my various components. The issue we run into when trying to play certain games is we always have Moderate or Strict NAT type. I found online Port fowarding from main router to the AP router, but I could not figure out what Port ranges to use. Does anyone else use a setup that is similar? Any insight is welcome.

Issue: When I switched ISPs my website isn’t visible online anymore even after changing my IP and port forwarding. Givens: Using a linux mint webserver at home Using a free domain name from afraid.org Using apache server Using Lets Encrypt to get my HTTPS on WAS using Spectrum internet (cable) with my Netgear wnr2000v3 (n300) router NOW using Greenlight internet (fiber) with my new Netgear 7000 (ac1900) router My website works over my LAN network but isn’t visible online I’m new at this and I’m guessing (and hoping) its only a couple of small steps to figure out. Thanks! John

So about 4 years ago i got a new laptop. It was above average specs for the time so i became the host for Minecraft servers with my friends. It all worked flawlessly until i built my first PC about a year and a half later. Everything checks out i have done everything i did before, followed every step of every guide i could find and i get nowhere when trying to port forward. I bought a new router in the time since building my first PC and it still doesn't work and due to the fact my old router worked just fine when paired with my laptop, i never really thought the router was the problem. Now i just built another computer maybe 2 or 3 months ago and i am having the same issue when trying to port forward an Ark server...and i'm willing to bet if i try to host a Minecraft server it still wont work. Every thread i have read on multiple forums are 2-3 pages of getting nowhere and its overwhelmingly frustrating. Until proven otherwise i am convinced the PC's being custom is to blame but if I'm correct why would that happen? Is there some form of optimization when a computer is factory made that doesn't happen when using seperate parts? Is there some driver somewhere i've never heard of? I know how to port forward and it just simply isnt working and i would love if my nearly 3 year search could come to an end with your help. Please, I am literally begging for someone to help me. I can post screenshots upon request, wasn't sure what would be helpful. Thanks so much for anyone willing to read this to the end.

I believe I have everything with the server files sorted but im now mainly having issues port forwarding. https://gyazo.com/3762680dc4d7cd2296a0c791177bf08a (the x's are of course the rest of my ipv4 ) These are the options I have and that is what I have filled out. In the server config files I have the port set of course. With the ip some people say leave it blank and other say put in my public ip. Please let me know which is right and if im missing anything with the port forwarding. thanks!

Hello, I was looking to buy a cheap unmanaged gigabit network switch, until I found out that there is no configuration possible on unmanaged switches. So here is my question: Is is possible to port-forward on an unmanaged network switch, or will I need a managed one? Thanks!

I'm looking to build a backup server and host it at my college dorm to save on electricity & not eat up my home's internet speeds. I am in need of some guidance on how to do so though. I want to make it a FTP server so that my friends can back up their files to the computer as well. However, I face some problems with this. My college blocks port 21 (so people can't access my computer as FTP). So here are my questions: Does a VPN solve my blocked port 21 problem? How do I set up SFTP for my computer? How do I set up a static IP? Can I use hamachi for this so it is secure? Sorry I'm kind of a noob at this. Hopefully someone can help me.
